I agree with j pimmel.
OFC2 is great but the documentation is very poor for local use. The web site is quite messy too so at one point I ended with using OFC2 with OFC1 data files etc.

Anyway I finally got OFC1 running LOCALLY. Unfortunately it is far from the OFC2 features which I needed and decided to go for OFC2 .... now the security issues raised. It can not be run locally neither with a data file nor with a java script event.

The question is WHY? Why OFC1 works and OFC2 has security issues?

I really do not want to ask admin rights in my app in order to add the app folder in the trusted sandbox.
Can someone fix this?

Cheers.

Hi,

Nice tip!
I prefer use the DatabaseManager separated from the app, so I do this:

1) in a new terminal, I change dir to the app's path;
2) at prompt: "java -cp /lib/hsqldb-1.8.0.10.jar org.hsqldb.util.DatabaseManager"

You can use the "--noexit" flag to avoid the System.exit() call when you close the window.

Like this:

String[] databaseManagerOptions = ['--url', 'jdbc:hsqldb:mem:devDB', '--noexit'];

I stick the below code in the bootstrap init function. You will need to add 'import grails.util.Environment' also . Means no config to complete and the dbmanager popsup on deploy in dev mode.

if(Environment.current == Environment.DEVELOPMENT){
String[] databaseManagerOptions = ['--url', 'jdbc:hsqldb:mem:devDB'];
        org.hsqldb.util.DatabaseManagerSwing.main(databaseManagerOptions)
}

Yeah, that works fine in the functional-test plugin. The trick is when you want to PUT or POST JSON data back to the server!

Hi,

Great tip, I was wondering yesterday how to connect to the in-memory hsqldb.

I found that you could use org.hsqldb.util.DatabaseManagerSwing.main() for a better-looking manager

Thanks for the article
