I can't think of a better vacation than spending a perfect fall weekend surrounded by fiber, leaves and lots of hand knits! (Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen more knitted objects in one place. It was pretty awesome.)

After a few travel hiccups (let's just say that arriving at your destination at 3 AM makes for a long day), Mom and I arrived in NY and caught a few hours sleep before the big festival. It was pretty chilly, so we bundled up in our...
Even though it's only a few days, it's the first vacation I've taken from work since starting in February, and I definitely need a break. I think a few days in chilly NY surrounded by wool and awesome people (including my Mom, who's going with me!) will do me a lot of good. So the bag is all packed, and in just a few hours (yup, I'm up very late...) I'll be on my way.

I got a job being a professional nerd:

So you might remember that I completed my MS in Electrical Engineering last December. Well after that milestone, I embarked on a quest to obtain every engineer's dream: gainful employment....
Have you ever had a childhood friend that you thought you'd be close with forever? Then say for whatever reason, you end up growing apart, and you run into each other years later. It's always a bit awkward right? You feel like you know this person intimately from your shared experiences, but then you realize that both you and your friend are different, and it's difficult to reconcile your past with the present.

That's pretty much how Christmas...
It was a long haul, but I successfully defended my thesis today and am now officially a Master in the fine art of Electrical Engineering. I think that earning a Master's degree is a pretty good birthday present, don't you? (Yup, today I'm only one year away from the final adulthood milestone: renting a car without paying extra fees)

I just have to make a few minor changes to my manuscript (which clocks in at a hefty 155...
Unfortunately, when my head is buried in the books, I don't have much blogging time. I'm working to remedy that, starting with a fresh new theme. My rationale is that I may be more inclined to post with a fresh new theme, but we'll see how that goes. Not to mention the old theme was looking...
It is often very difficult to describe natural phenomenon in exact terms, so they are modeled as random processes. The more information you can determine about a random process, the more you can predict its behavior, and therefore counteract its effects.

For example, your cell phone signal bounces off all kinds of objects (trees, people, buildings, etc.), and as a...
I do have a few finished objects to share, both knitting related, and otherwise. First up are some single socks, knit up in some of my hand-dyed yarn. Whenever I offer a new base yarn, I always save a skein for myself to use for swatching and test knitting. I swatched both of these yarns ages ago, but...
Dallas loves to look outside while it's raining, except when there's lightning. It just takes one flash for him to be on my bed, quivering behind some pillows. My new bed isn't tall enough for him to hide under, although it took him a few head bonks to figure that out. Emma prefers a more subtle method of avoiding lightning strikes. Her philosophy is, "if I can't see it, then...
