ALCHEMY OF SOULS: ALMOST PERFECT STORYTELLING

Fuh seksa nak habiskan 30 episod Alchemy of Souls dalam tempoh kurang seminggu. Setiap satu episod paling pendek 60 minit, tak macam drama2 lain dan kebanyakannya sampai 80 minit especially 2nd part. Memang mula2 nak tonton rasa overwhelmed nak start sebab tau panjang dan kurang berkenan dengan pelakon yang dipilih sebagai hero sebab selalu berlakon watak jahat dalam drama lain.

PARALLEL DENGAN NOVEL ORAKEL DEWATA

Masa mula2 menonton tu, memang tidak dapat tidak rasa related gila dengan jalan cerita Orakel Dewata (OD) sebab ada kuasa dari langit (sky energy), sakti (divine power) dan sihir (sorcery). Lepas tu ada 4 keluarga: Jin (Jinyowon), Jang (Cheonbugwan), Park (Songrim: Jeongjingak + Sejukwon) & Seo (Seoho) macam 4 puak bunian dalam OD yang ada fungsi masing2. Scene Mirror of Longing dalam episod 6 teringat scene Tasik Mirat dalam OD. Soul-shifting teringat dengan Melur-Melati dan Teratai dalam OD. Relics macam "ice stone" mengingatkan tiga sahmura sakti cuma dalam AoS fokus pada air manakala OD ada keempat-empat elemen air, api, angin dan tanah. Kelahiran Jang Uk semasa King’s Star pun dah lebih kurang sama dengan kelahiran tiga raja semasa kemunculan Bintang Tiga Raja dalam OD. Part exam jadi servant Songrim masa episod 10 tu ada ala2 Dishragala dalam OD. Watak Naksu sebagai shadow assassin pun dah macam Sang Asura. Kiranya kalau Orakel Dewata dijadikan TV series, akan ada vibe Alchemy of Souls campur Game of Thrones & Lord of the Rings.

PART 1 (20 EPISOD)

Awal-awal cerita terus masuk aksi dan banyak watak, pening jugak la tapi masuk episod 2-3 baru faham sikit2. First few episodes memang fast-paced lepas tu banyak flashback so pening nak relatekan antara satu sama lain. Elemen flashback ni kalau buat over sangat memang akan buat audience pening. Elemen2 fantasi yang dibawa dalam cerita agak berat sebenarnya dan perlu fokus untuk faham. Cuma diselitkan dengan elemen komedi ringan. Masuk tengah2 slow skit dan momentum elemen fantasi berkurangan. Banyak filler contohnya part Mu-deok ambil ujian jadi servant kat Songrim. Cuma setting tu bila2 dah lama2 tonton rasa familiar dan jadi agak repetitive sebab asyik dekat tempat yang sama.

Paling kelakar bila tengok babak2 watak2 tua bercinta. Bromance antara Crown Prince & Jang Uk pun best lagi2 masa pasangan jed biru & merah. Walaupun tak berapa minat elemen romance dalam fantasi, tapi cinta bersegi-segi antara Naksu/ Mu-deok/ Bu-yeon/ Cho Yeong dengan tiga jejaka: Jang Uk, Crown Prince dan Seo Yul quite interesting gak lah tengok chemistry & interaction diorang. Seo Yul ada rupa2 Cha Eun Woo skit.

Overall, memang almost perfect storytelling jugak sebab interconnected, interrelated & interwoven elemen-elemen dalam cerita, lepas tu banyak foreshadowing dan hints, my favourite story devices yang turut digunakan dalam OD! Banyak hidden info yang reveal skit2. Contohnya banyak perkara yang diperkenalkan dalam beberapa episod awal yang kemudiannya baru tahu apa fungsi dalam cerita. Then setiap satu perkara yang berlaku tu ada sebab dan akibatnya. Contohnya masa kemunculan watak Queen tu baru teringat Crown Prince ada cakap Seo Yul tu cousin dia (imbasan episod 16). Quote paling best dari Jin Mu: “Logic & justification are created by those with power”. Watak Jang Gang muncul kejap je masa hujung untuk mati.

PART 2 (10 EPISOD)

Kalau Part 1 (20 episod) 70% fantasi + 30% romance, Part 2 plak 70% romance + 30% fantasy. 9 episod pertama Part 2 mostly fokus kat hubungan Bu-yeon & Jang Uk. Apabila masuk episod 10 baru semua elemen2 fantasi & plot utama bergerak. Pengenalan “fire bird” dalam Part 2 bersama “ice stone” melengkapkan elemen “fire & ice” ala2 Game of Thrones. Time jump 3 tahun menarik gak la.

Ending quite satisfying jugak la. Mula2 geram jugak kenapa start2 Part 2 Jin Mu dapat jadi Gwanju padahal dah sah2 terang lagi bersuluh ada kaitan dengan sorcery. Rupa2nya bukan je dapat backing daripada Queen, tapi King & 8 mages dari Unanimous Assembly pun bagi sokongan, walaupun justification ni sedikit lemah untuk maintain Jin Mu as main villain. Cho Yeong & Jang Uk : light & shadow tu menarik. Cuma rasanya Park Jin, Maidservant Kim & Jin Ho-yeong patut maintain mati baru lagi ada kick. Hujung2 ada 7 orang tu pun dah macam 7 waris kayangan dalam OD. Overall, AoS ni adalah romance fantasy tentang star-crossed lovers yang bersatu against all odds. Best jugak ditonton tapi tak larat kalau nak tonton untuk 2nd time sebab panjang giler. Maybe kalau packed kan lagi elemen2 fantasi sahaja dalam satu movie mungkin lagi menarik.

My Attempt to Jailbreak Playstation 3 (Success)

Date: 19 October 2022

PS3 software version is 4.89

1) Jailbreak PS3 with USB

Step 1: Plug a USB stick into your computer.

Step 2: Create a folder at the root of the USB stick called “PS3“.

Step 3: Create a folder inside the PS3 folder called “UPDATE“.

Step 4: Move PS3UPDAT.PUP file to the directory “UPDATE” that you just created on the USB stick.

Step 5: Plug the USB stick into the PS3.

Step 6: Navigate to Settings Tab.

Step 7: Choose System Update.

Step 8: Choose Update via Storage Media.

Step 9: It will say it found Version PS3 4.89 CFW.

Step 10: Choose OK.

Step 11: Accept Conditions and install the update.

Step 12: After less than a minute, Your PS3 will update, beep 4 times then shut down.

Step 13: Power up your PS3 (You will have to do it on the console and not by the controller).

Step 14: Your PS3 is now jailbroken. Package Manager installed.

Games: My No.1 XBox 360 Game Of All Time

I bought XBox 360 years ago because of Final Fantasy XIII. At that time I was still enamoured with FF series especially after FFX. I think I clocked in almost 60 hours into the game and then the progress just halted, probably because I was busy with something else at that time. I do buy other games but nothing really strikes my interest. Looking back now, it was the least used gaming consoles I owned. There's only one game that I most regularly played on it and that is:

DANCE CENTRAL!

Dance Central is the best dancing game ever, period. You only need Kinect sensor and there's no need to hold any kind of controller. I have all three Dance Central games and they are all awesome! The songs selection, the dance moves are so good. DC is the game that I introduced to my siblings and they went crazy with it!

Other than FFXIII & DC, fighting games not so much, just few rounds of Tekken, Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat. Same goes to racing games, a little bit of Need for Speed, Burnout. And for action games like GTA and others, I mostly played them on PC.So yeah, I bought a 2k gaming console years ago just to play Dance Central lol but it was indeed revolutionary and unbeatable till now.

Boardgame: Wannabe Boardgame Designer's Diary: Day 1 & 2

DAY 1

I've playtested few of my friends' boardgames prototypes and excitedly throwing some suggestions and recommendations. So, I think it's time for me to be excited about my own boardgame. So I grabbed few A4 papers and started scribbling some notes. And put all interesting games on my dining table for references.

SCRIBBLE, SCRIBBLE

First, the mechanism. Most of my boardgames are worker placement, action selection (like in Clinic, Puerto Rico, Scythe, Rising Sun, Trickerion, Steam, Concordia, Eclipse, On Mars, Grand Austria Hotel, La Granja) and engine-building so I want my game to be around those mechanisms. There are several types of worker placement, either using dice, meeples, whether it's first come first serve, blocking location, increment in meeples (like in Alma Mater and Keyflower) or kick-out action (like in The Gallerist). Perhaps the worker location should be changeable each game (like in Troyes and Teotihuacan). But I know I want my workers to have different types (like in Anachrony, Troyes, Trickerion, Keyflower).

Other mechanisms that maybe could make into the game: bidding, resource conversion, multi-use cards, stocks, contracts, set collection. I want to add area control/ majority mechanism in my game too but let settle the earlier mechanisms first. Environment element? (like in Ginkgopolis and Anachrony). Corruption? (like in Lords of Waterdeep) Sabotage? Location-activated mission like in Yedo?

Since it is an engine building game too, it must have technology/ upgrades tracks (like in Alma Mater, Teotihuacan, Gaia Project, Eclipse, Anachrony, The Gallerist, Orleans, Mombasa). Usually techs/ upgrades helps player to be more efficient in games and give resources.

What types of resources I want to have in my game? Money I think is a must. I wanna forgo the usual resources: woods, stones, gold, food, oil. Some unique resources are books (Alma Mater), water (Anachrony), magic (Terra Mystica) and Arkham Horror (sanity, health, clues). What's the use of the resources and do I want the players to produce resources as well?

I want to add player-driven economy (like in Alma Mater, Power Grid, Brass) into my games. I want it to have objectives/ goals as well (like in Anachrony, Alma Mater, The Gallerist, Troyes), be it personal or shared/ collective. The main board must have round track, phase track (like in Alma Mater, Clinic, Smartphone Inc) and turn order track. For the turn order, this is something I need to get back later after getting the whole idea of the game. Some notable games with good turn order twist is Yamatai, Steam, Terra Mystica and Five Tribes. For now, let's have a worker location to claim first player token.

And of course a stylish personal player board, one of my most favourite thing in a game! (some of my favs: Terra Mystica, Anachrony, Agricola, Trajan, Alma Mater, The Gallerist, Orleans, Underwater Cities, Mombasa). The personal board must have columns for buying & selling stuff (like in Alma Mater), scoring reminder, building spots (like in Anachrony, Clinic, Terra Mystica, perhaps resources?), available actions (player aid) and unique ability (like in Terra Mystica, Anachrony, Alma Mater)

I want the game to be fun, thinky, that players will start standing towards the end of the game, taking all the game in and strategizing for final points, and shout in excitement when doing combo. And I don't want it to fell like a solitaire game. More of these will be explored on Day 2.

All of the questions above requires me to select a theme first for my game. In the list are the usuals: train, fantasy, space, zombie, horror, detective, entertainment, middle age, renaissance, stone age, future, time travel... Well, I want to make a fantasy game with divisions of sky, earth, water and fire (like in Seasons) but it doesn't really work with all the above stuff earlier. The period theme is kinda boring and over-used. Well, I'm leaning towards futuristic theme! I can also combine it with more theme as well, robots, time-travelling, build wonders of the world, magic, horror, dinosaur and aliens!

IDEA LIGHT!

This was all in the first paper that I scribbled. Then it all made sense. I started to connect the dot and draft the story of the game on the second paper: Codename: Y3K. The year is 3000. Robots has overrun the world. Let's time-travel and bring monuments from the past and build it in your future city, balancing the social and economy. Robots from other cities will visit your monuments and they will be yours to take. However, the not-so-friendly aliens will occasionally visit the planet so prepare with your own welcoming committee aka army (like in Troyes). Some games with future theme for reference: Anachrony, Underwater Cities, Ginkgopolis, On Mars.

Because it's in the future, I want robots to be in the game. I want the meeples to be associated with robots. Robots are the resources, as well as the workers. And they will time-travel. But why do they want to time-travel? Because they want to bring monuments from the past and build them into their future city. Why build monuments? Because other players' robots can visit the monuments and their robots will be your. Why would they want to visit? There must be something they want as well. VPs? Resources?

Well, I came across this one game that has some kind of race element, trying to intersect money and fame track, it's Rajas of the Ganges. So, I want the monument to have social and economic values (it was religion and science at first but sounds too tacky). When built and visited, players increase in both tracks, to achieve the end goal which is balancing both social & economy! Now my game sounds like an article in Forbes and a little bit Through the Ages but let's make it works! If it doesn't work we can always change it.

Since there are aliens in the game, they must be useful in some way. In Troyes you defeat the invaders and increase influence and VPs. I want the aliens to be wild meeples, in that it can be any colors for use! It's like the robots successfully defeated/ tamed/ welcomed the aliens to become visitors on the planet. Nice!

Back to the elements of the game, buildings. Should I have buildings/ cubes on the player board and players get stuff as they uncovered it? (like in Terra Mystica, Hansa Teutonica, Eclipse, Scythe). Are the buildings limited (like in Anachrony) or unlimited? What's the use of the buildings? Money production, scoring purposes, engine-building or time machine like in Anachrony? Well, robots need electric to function, so electric should be one of the main resources!

Another element in the game that I want is starting resources cards (like in Teotihuacan, Alma Mater, Anachrony, Terra Mystica, Ginkgopolis). Do I want it to be in every round (shopping time!) , drafting, multi-use? Starting resource can certainly kickstart players' game engine.

How does the game ends? Fixed rounds (5/6 rounds) maybe? Or there's another endgame conditions (like in Anachrony - apocalypse, Rajas of the Ganges, Scythe - 6 objectives, The Gallerist - no more tickets, Teotihuacan - eclipse). Some of the conditions I thought are social value intersect with economy value, maximise time travel too far and big bang, maximise alien track and galactic peace, full upgrades, full monuments, all objectives claimed.

In conclusion of the stuff I scribbled, players will time-travel to build monuments to balance social & economy, bringing other players' robots into their city while also attacking/ welcoming aliens.

Some later stuff that I thought about is the visual/ aesthetic of the game. I want it to be bright-colored future (like in Ginkgopolis), colorful/ neon (RGBY, Dinosaur Island), perhaps KL background (KLCC, KL Tower, Merdeka 118, KLX) Perhaps I can also expand the game to space and robot gladiatorial arena. Later exercise would be to balance up the game (reference: Anachrony, The Gallerist, Alma Mater).

VERY RAW FIRST PROTOTYPE

I already scribbled on 4 pages of A4 papers so it's time to materialize into it's very first prototype! I designed the monuments and upgrades (which I called specialists before) first. For the monument it would have costs on the upper left-side (player must be in certain timeline, decrease money, electric, time travel limit and spend robots), VPs on the upper right-side and what visitor (or tourist) and the owner of the monument will get at the bottom of the card. first design was a dinosaur park because I love dinosaurs!

For the upgrades (it was specialist at first), the cost would be in money, electric and robots and the abilities are like increasing money income, electric income, VPs, robot productions. There must be one-time use, activation use and permanent use (like in Seasons).

The first draft of the main board is a bit messy. There must be player turn order track, objective cards spaces, alien card spaces at the top, available monuments & upgrades to be built & bought, time travel limit track, alien track, social value track, economy value track, all close to their respective action spaces that I associate with colors (dual spots like in The Gallerist?): claim first player (get money like in Alma Mater?), green: research time travel limit, build robots (own supply), red: build monuments, increase alien track, yellow: produce money, produce electric, blue: buy upgrades, buy robots (cheaper to buy from other players than supply and get VPs). With the color association I started to differentiate the meeples according to colors (like in Troyes, Anachrony): yellow: engineer/ economist, blue: politician/ manager/ admin, green: scientist, red: agents/ builders/ soldiers. There's also action spaces to convert robot and send robot for area control that didn't make to the next phase.

I also design the player board with columns to sell robots (like in Alma Mater), monuments spaces, upgrades spaces (at first according to colors), electric track, money track, leader space. I wrote a little bit on how the game start, with setup: shuffle, randomize, draft stuff but when I got to the action phase, that's when I need to continue in Day 2.

DAY 2

CRAWLING DOUBT

Well, Day 2 when I tried to think of the action phase I have some doubts. Will players prefer to play other forementioned games compared to my game? Will the interconnected mechanisms work? Is it fun like the theme I want it to be? Doing some research and there are some other similar games: Steam Time, Museum etc. Well I need to push forward and really do the game.

JUST DO IT

So first I designed the monuments cards/ tiles. Then I found out that I can do historical figures (like in Through the Ages) and artifacts as well! I will need to balance this stuff later. Next is the upgrades tiles, and this is where I get excited again. The upgrades are like the techs I love in games like Terra Mystica, Teotihuacan, Anachrony, that they can change and improve a little bit of the game elements. This will also need lots of balancing later on. Before the day ends I also did the main board, with some adjustments from the earlier draft! It felt so good to have something done!

I also scribbled some strategies that players might want to do in the game: probably they will want to build monuments first (build monument on the first round is fun!), or buy upgrades (my favourite!), or aim for the objectives (also me!), or hoard resources and aim for expensive monuments & upgrades (also me), or focus on the aliens (not really me), or selling robots, or trying to hijack the game by not building monuments but instead, just visiting other players' monuments. Thinking about these stuff excite me! VPs can come from the monuments, upgrades, objectives, alien cards an more.

Later that day I decided to do this designer's diary to documented my journey! I should start raw playtesting the game to see what's to add and what's to take out from the game! That would be task for Day 3!

Boardgame: My Top 5 Boardgamearena (BGA) Games

Ever since Movement Control Order (MCO) implemented in Malaysia, I've becoming more attached to Boardgamearena portal. It's one of the best site to play boardgames online for free. So here's my favourite BGA games!

1) Teotihuacan

The physical game is one of my favourites! The deluxe components with entry-level price, the ease of play, the open info style, the many ways to score are some of its attributes that draw me to the game. The implementation in BGA is flawless! You can see everything on one screen without having to scroll up & down to see other details. Gold standard!

2) Terra Mystica

Terra Mystica is my forever love even though there's Gaia Project that improves everything about it. The open info gameplay, 14 races to play with (additional 6 with expansion Fire & Ice), the colorful components & boards, personal player boards that work like a charm, interconnectedness of everything. BGA made it possible to play this modern classic everyday!

3) 7 Wonders

One of my favourite filler on BGA while waiting to play other heavy games. It's currently updated to the new version with some changes to the wonders & new cards! Quick fun!

4) Kingdomino

Another favourite filler on BGA although it takes longer time to play compared to 7 Wonders.

5) Yokohama

I like the gameplay, quite similar to Teotihuacan but different enough. Although there's a need to scroll up and down to see the details and lots of interfaces to open to check the management boards.

No.6 - No.15:

Troyes: I learned this game through BGA. Jumped to one of my Top 10 of all time!
Nippon: New favourite heavy game although the strategy is almost the same throughout each games.
Signorie: Another What's Your Game? game that I first tried on BGA and fall in love with. Bought it right after. Interesting theme and gameplay.
Russian Railroads: One of the 18xx-inspired games that I like. Like Nippon, almost similar strategy with each games played.
Trekking the World: New game on BGA that I've tried. Quite interesting but too long for a simple game.
Sushi Go: Another great filler but too luck-driven and a bit chaotic.
Keyflower: Haven't play this game for a long time.
Clans of Caledonia: Some similarities with Terra Mystica. I haven't grisp the strategy yet but it's an OK game for me.
Tzolk'in: People say there's a prominent strategy for this game. Teotihuacan replaced this game for me.
Through the Ages: Too long game for me

Watch: 2gether The Series Most Memorable Songs!

Whenever I watched any BL series I always linked the series with their soundtrack. It's like 5 years ago when I first watched SOTUS, I was so crazy with the OST, downloaded 'em and play 'em like crazy on my iPhone. 2gether was no different and I think this is one of the series that has the best soundtrack ever! Every songs really fit the scene very well especially when Sarawat sing Scrubb's songs.

1) Close (from Episode 3)

Ah, this is the first song Sarawat ever sing to Tine and it cemented vividly into my memory. Tine was in need of a guitar because the club's guitar he got hurt his fingers so much. So Sarawat slyly offered his guitar but Tine need to come to his room to get it. Then Sarawat lied to him that the guitar need to be tuned first in order to keep Tine staying longer in his room. Tine requested Sarawat to play Scrubb's song. The when Tine is getting bored, Sarawat started playing this song and I melted away! This song depicted clearly Sarawat's feeling at that time, a glimpse of how it all started, Tine was so close to him, the only person allowed to come to his room, and he poured his heart singing this song, secretly for Tine and Tine was already falling a little bit for Sarawat haha! It's like only both of them exist in their own world at that very moment.

2) Everything (from Episode 4)

Right after Sarawat sang the song "Close" to Tine, during the music festival, Sarawat shared his earphone with Tine listening to "Everything"! Tine missed out listening Sarawat playing guitar for the song during the festival due to chasing after Pear. Tine even requested Sarawat to play the song and Sarawat begged his group for that. Earlier before that Sarawat was pissed off with Tine because Tine's request was actually for Pear. This song was saying "It doesn't matter who you like, just look at me, that's all it takes to make me happy. I don't care who you like, it doesn't matter what the reality is, all I know is that you are the one in my heart" Awww.... Reminded Sarawat of what Tine said previously, "If you listen to Scrubb's songs when you are happy, you will be even happier. If you listen when you are in love, you will be more deeply in love". I get it now. My heart! (Sarawat also sang this song to Tine in the club in episode 6, and Tine got jealous after that!) I would absolutely rank this song at the first place among all their songs!

3) Click (from Episode 5)

I like the shirt Sarawat is wearing when he sang this song! He & Tine were getting closer at this moment, even going out with their friends getting drunk. So this song is saying that Sarawat is so grateful to spend time with Tine and he's fishing for Tine's feeling as well (Tine's singing is a little off-key due to being drunk though haha) They had a little chat after that and the boom, comes Sarawat's confession with the next verse of the song! "Do you remember when I said I had something to tell you? This is what I want to tell you" "I've never seen anyone who is not too left, not too right, not too perfect. You are not pessimistic or demanding but something about you is so special. I've never seen anyone who is not too fast, not too slow, not too little but something in you is better than anyone. We just click, you are just enough for my heart" My heart! Aww, this song really mirrored the perfect couple, not too much, not too less. The staring between them. Sarawat was about to tell Tine that he likes him but Frong distracted the couple haha.

4) This Person (from Episode 5)

Episode 5 gives us 2 memorable songs! This time Sarawat was so drunk after finding out Tine has been hanging out with Pear in the music club room. Tine wants to give his jersey back then record music video for their assignment. So he was saying that "Meet me before it's too late. If you think I am the one, do not keep that thought to yourself. If you don't make a move, who would know. It's not easy to finally meet each other, what you've been looking for might slip through your fingers. Maybe you are the one that I've been waiting for, the thing that is missing. It might be this person, the one right in front of me, the one who fulfills my day from now on. The world that used to be empty is not the same anymore.only if you want to know" He sounds desperate as he was about to lose Tine. Then Tine dropped th ebomb saying he's going after Pear and then....came the legendary first kiss! That Sarawat's jealous face awww my heart! "You are reserved, don't ever hit on anyone!" Kon nee! He also sang this song to flirt with Tine at the beginning of episode 8.

After awhile, we didn't get much memorable songs, until Episode 11! Tine has been suspicious about a video he found in Sarawat's video since the last episode then he got lost in the forest and Sarawat found him. They sheltered in a bus and Sarawat showed him this music video he made when he first met Tine! And after that we finally got to see some flashback scenes from Sarawat's POV! Long time crush and finally met! Awww my heart!

And finally the song that made Tine and Sarawat met again during the orientation music concert! Tine said this is his favourite song. Also gonna appeared for one last time in the final episode while Tine reminiscing all the past memories with Sarawat!

Not my favourite song but this scene does have memorable flashbacks for the couple. And the revelation of how Sarawat first met Tine! The song was catchy though. Luek luek.

I finally got the chance to really throw myself into playing The Sims 4 after a month of lock down period! I was once addicted to the first The Sims, and only played once or twice both The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 due to other stuff. My most favorite features in The Sims 4 are the aspirations, achievements, collectibles.

(A) ESSENTIALS

These are the packs that I consedered essentials, must-have for every Sim 4 owners.

1) Seasons (Expansion Pack - June 2018)

Now this is a must-have expansion for all The Sims 4 fans! The best feature it introduces is the calendar game mechanic into the user interface, with weather and seasons systems that let you feel the passage of time. I didn't really play The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 so I didn't get to explore their Seasons expansion, but wow, I couldn't live without this expansion! It really completes the game! This should be the first expansion, or integrated into the next game, if The Sims 5 comes out later. I really enjoyed the holidays: Love Day, Harvestfest, Winterfest and New Year's Eve and you can even create your own holiday like Easter and Halloween! I also love the gardening aspect from this expansion, there's many types of plants that will bloom in certain season.

2) City Living (Expansion Pack - November 2016)

City Living complements Seasons expansion very well. Like the holidays in Seasons, I really enjoyed the festivals: Flea Market, Spice Festival, Romance Festival, Humor and Hijinks Festival and Geekcon happening around the city, San Myshuno. I especially like the Flea Market because it has vendors that sell collectibles to complete your collection! I love that while playing the game, I receive notifications of the ongoing events that make me feel things are going on in the background. There was always something going on in the neighborhood and it made the game feel alive. Events continued to happen. It takes elements from The Sims 2: Apartment Life and The Sims 3: Late Night.

(B) OPTIONALS

These packs depend on your personal preference, whether you want an expansion that add new active careers (actor in Get Famous) or new life stat for sims (vampire in Vampires, spellcaster in Realms of Magic)

3) Get Famous (Expansion Pack - November 2018)

Get Famous added a new item on public image and fame points you can accumulate and spend to unlock fame perks. Becoming actor is one of my most favorite active career, first introduce in the first Sims! The acting gigs is enjoyable, it's not a day-to-day work, more like freelancing and you can audition anytime you time. So you can hire an agency and the agency will look out for auditions, but you don't have to go with you don't want. Del Sol Valley is a great Beverly Hills-like world too. It takes elements from The Sims: Superstar,The Sims 3: Late Night and The Sims 3: Showtime.

4) Realms of Magic (Game Pack - September 2019)

The Sims: Makin' Magic is one of my most favorite expansion in the first Sims. I love unlocking all the spells and potions! There's a special interface for spellbook and spellcaster perks! Spellcaster is one of the occult life state, so unlike the first Sims, you have to become spellcaster to enjoy this expansion. You can also send your pet to forage for magic items!

5)Vampires (Game Pack - January 2017)

Like Realms of Magic, Vampires introduce a new occult life state and has a special interface for vampire powers! I haven't explore this life state much yet.

6) Dine Out (Game Pack - June 2016)

Among the businesses that first introduced in Get To Work expansion, owning a restaurant is my most favourite. Others are retail store and vet clinic.

Usai membaca ASRAMA - sebuah novel Muhammad Fatrim, cerita hantu dalam cerita hantu dalam cerita hantu. Mana2 yang dulu sekolah asrama gerenti boleh mengaitkan pengalaman sendiri dengan buku ni. Walaupun ending dah boleh expected, tapi cara revelation yang dibuat menarik. Pembacaan yang rileks santai dalam tempoh tiga jam.

24 November 2018 - Asrama 2

Selesai membaca sekuel buku ASRAMA - sebuah novel Muhammad Fatrim dalam masa 2 jam. Purchased in September last year. Dahlia, Ira & Maria jadi hantu yang menjaga asrama. Watak baru Lily yang ada sejarah hitam diculik dan kakaknya dibunuh. Kawan-kawannya, Bella & her roommates, Arfiey & Nazim. Misteri yang belum terjawab, siapa hantu sebenarnya, siapa abang Lily, di mana pembunuh tangan hilang? Lots of red herrings. Really love Sabahan dialects in the book. Membaca buku ini mengingatkan suasana tinggal di asrama SM Sains Miri suatu ketika dulu, mungkin sebab tempatnya lebih kurang sama.

1) Guitar Hero - The button-mashing game that introduced the Guitar Hero craze to the world! Love it & I even have the guitar controller though I still prefer using PS2 controller instead. If I ever buy PS2 again, it's because of this game!

2) Katamari Damacy - Lovely songs & unique gameplay. Rolling the ball and consume everything in the way is so much fun! So Nippon!

3) Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup - This is the PS2 "sports" game for me! And I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter & Quidditch. This game let me play both.

4) Final Fantasy X - Turns out to be my most favourite Final Fantasy game. Tidus & Yuna forever!

5) Fatal Frame II - The horror game of PS2 for me, even more than Resident Evil! It gave me so many nightmares & looking through the camera will never be the same after playing this game! And it came out at the time when Korean & Japanese horror movies are at their height!

6) SSX3 - When I play the game, I can feel the snow rushing to my face! The game is slick, much better than the Tony Hawk's games.

7) Soul Calibur III - Among all fighting games on PS2, I love this one! It has stories, you unlock more characters & weapons, and they are all awesome!

8) Tekken 5 - This is among the first PS2 games that I bought and one of my most beloved fighting game franchise!

9) Burnout 3 - This is the racing game on PS2 for me. There's so much in charging your turbo & take down other racers!

10) Dokapon Kingdom - It's like Super Mario Party but has some RPG element in it. One of the best board game on PS2!

So that's 3 Namco, 3 EA, 1 Squaresoft, 1 Atlus, 1 Tecmo & 1 RedOctane games on my Top 10 PS2 list. GTA & few other games didn't make into the list because I prefer to play them on PC.

Book: Ready Player One (2nd Reading)

Done reading Ready Player One again last night right after watching the movie the other day. (This is going to be a long post) Yes, there are 3 keys to be obtained. But there's a big difference between the quests in the book & the movie. Perhaps it is to make the "non-gamers" audience much more "receptive" towards the movie. At last I'm finally able to put faces onto the characters I've been reading years ago. In the book, there's no Curator, the gunters only refer to the Anorak's Almanac.

Wade began as a student in an online school on the planet Ludus, and that's where the 1st quest actually is. There's no racing game, instead, Wade needs to clear a D&D module "Tomb of Horror" (way much cooler than the movie) then competed against the boss monster of the dungeon in a game of Joust (game) to get the Copper Key then to complete the First Gate, he needs to win the "Dungeons of Daggorath" game and a "Flicksync" game of WarGames. He also met Art3mis for the first time right after he completed the 1st quest, in a very competitive yet awesome geeky way. That's also how his best friend, Aech got to know the location of the 1st quest, because in the beginning of the story, Wade was so broke he can't travel anywhere else in the OASIS besides Ludus.

iRok was only mentioned early in the book, and he is indeed a douchebag. Aech's Basement is a virtual chatroom and his (or her) appearance is very much different compared to the book, he (or she) should be a blonde Caucasian male (there's a story behind it). Wade made acquaintance with Daito & Shoto by completing the Ultraman quest.

Art3mis got the Jade Key first, and IOI cheated by using the artifact Fyndiri's Tablet of Finding to locate Art3mis. But it's not a dancing game in The Shining. The 2nd quest was to win a game of Zork (collecting trophies) & the 2nd Gate was playing Black Tiger (arcade game) in the Blade Runner (1982) universe. The winner got to choose a robot (Gundam was actually Aech's, Wade - Leopardon, etc...) In the process, Wade actually got the artifact "extra-life quarter" from playing a perfect game of PAC-MAN on planet Archaide while real-life Daito was killed by IOI. Og then sheltered the High Five from IOI in his home.

IOI got the 3rd Crystal Key faster than the others, and instead of a game, it was more-like a tribute to Rush 2112 musician. The 3rd Gate was the Castle of Anorak on Planet Cthonia just like in the movie where it was deviously cocooned in the dome made possible by the artifact Orb of Osuvox. However, since Daito died earlier in the book, instead of the Gundam robot, Wade used the Beta Capsule to turn into ULTRAMAN for 3 minutes to defeat Nolan Sorrento's Mechagodzilla! (That's why I was so disappointed when there's no Ultraman in the movie, but maybe they couldn't get the license 🙁) The 3rd Gate needs to be activated by 3 players (Schoolhouse Rock's "3 Is A Magic Number"!). IOI did used the artifact Cataclyst to destroy everything in the sector, and only Wade survived using the Pac-Man quarter. He then proceed to win a game of Tempest (arcade game), another Flicksync of Monty Python & the Holy Grail & the ultimate quest of Adventure!

There's some scenes which are quite accurate like the meeting between Wade & Nolan Sorrento of IOI, the Distracted Globe disco scene (Og invited the High Five) and others. Instead of Art3mis as the mole in IOI, in the book it was Wade as an indentured employee under the name Bryce Lynch. So, if you ask me which one is better, I would certainly answer, the book, without any doubt!

Post-script: Make sure to listen to RPO's Mixtape (https://www.youtube.com/playlist...) while reading the book! Plus, Anorak is a British slang for geek while Hikikomori in Japan!

2 May 2013 - First review

Done reading in less than 24 hours. Questing for Halliday's Hunt with Perzival, Art3mis, Aech, Dairo & Shoto, three keys for three gates. Reading it is like playing a video game myself. Ultimate references of geekdom esp the 80's. Awesome climax, the ultimate epic battle! The bleaking world feels so real. A must-read!

Boardgame: Dinosaur Island The Boardgame

Dinosaur Island is one of the kickstarter boardgames that I've been excited about for several months. However, I'm a bit pessimistic with its vibrant color and the messy setup of modular boards kinda threw me off. Since I've a had a bit of time to learn and play new game for this coming holiday, I tried my hands on the game via Tabletopia. The half an hour demo video really helps me to understand the gameplay more easily.

There are 5 phases. Research phase: each player use 3 scientists labeled 1, 2 and 3 on the Phase 1 board to either increase DNA (3 basic types and 3 advanced types) by claiming the dice (multiply the scientist level) OR procure dino recipe (herbivore/ small carnivore/ large carnivore using different level of scientist) OR increase DNA storage (pay $2 and increase according to the scientist level) OR pass (collect $2 and reserve the remaining scientist as worker in worker/action phase). Market phase: each player use money on the Phase 2 board to either upgrade their lab (mostly for research and security purpose) OR build attraction (pay the attraction cost plus the market row cost to increase excitement level and more spots for visitors) OR hire specialist (some to gain worker, some helps in other area). Worker/Action phase: this phase is done simultaneously using workers to do actions available in the labs (combine DNA to get advanced DNA/ create dinos to increase excitement level/increase security/increase paddock capacity/gain more money). Park phase: this is when the visitors start coming to your park after all the research, market and lab stuff. The excitement level will determine how many visitors will come to your park and gives you money (except the ever-annoying hooligans, some specialists can mitigate this issue). The visitors then will visit the attractions and dino exhibits, some will stuck in line at the entrance because there's not enough visiting spots. Before those visiting can give you points, you have to check security level versus threat level. Each threat unsecured will make you lose patron and point (the dino eats them!). Finally, Cleanup phase: reset turn order according to the score track, refresh the market and return the workers, scientists and visitors. Game ends when there's only one endgame objective card left, the objective can be claimed anytime when it is fulfilled and will reveal the plot twist! Add attraction VPs plus dino exhibits (multiply) plus leftover money $5 for 1VP.

My first game took me about 2-3 hours to play for both players. At first I thought it would be better if the 3 modular boards were put into 1 big board and Phase 1 - 3 using the same worker placement / action selection mechanism and should be combine into one phase. But after a while I got used to the phases. The red player won 94 vs white player 77 thanks to the maximum number of Allosaurus that gives higher excitement level and VPs although they took a lot of DNAs to create. The problems faced by the red player are minimal number of workers and lack of attractions and dino exhibits which mean less visitor spots. The white player started slow but good in upgrading the labs and build enough attractions for the visitors although a bit lacking in collecting DNAs.

I really love balancing the level of excitement, security and threat! Playing and tinkering with DNAs to create dinosaurs and building distracting attractions was fun too! I love the randomness of DNA dice, the game changers, the plot twists once the end game objectives met and the variety of dino recipe + lab upgrades + attractions + specialists, all combine to create a unique experience every time the game is played. Dinosaur Island might not be the perfect dinosaur-themed board game but it is absolutely the best available right now and it does feel like playing Jurassic Park the boardgame, one of the most influential movie during my childhood that made me love archeology and history stuff! It also reminds me of Rollercoaster Tycoon, one of my most favourite and beloved PC simulation game of all time! Probably gonna get the Deluxe KS Edition to get the extra dino meeples, extra plot twist (hooligans, VIP visitors, extra die), scientist beaker meeples and of course, metal coins!

Taking cue from iklan TNB, iklan traveloka ni memang catchy & on point. Ulang-ulang pun tetap best. The song, the action, color grading, even the destinations mentioned: Bali, Korea & Bangkok are all my favourite spots! Terus rasa nak melancong walaupun duit dah kena pancung.

No.3: UDA - Misi Hari Raya

Yang ni kelakar sebab teringat zaman budak2 kecik dulu gi rumah2 jiran makan kuih (especially almond london, batang buruk, semperit), minum air tin (Sarawak hidang air tin k time raya) pastu dapat duit raya. Muka budak2 ala2 along kutip hutang takleh tahan haha

No.4: Pelaburan Mara - Yatim Piatu di Hari Raya

Iklan ni memang sedih berabis. Sebak rasa di dada. Rasa macam ada lump in throat nak tahan nangis. Pelakon-pelakon pun hebat-hebat belaka. Rasa macam tengok full movie pun ada.

No.5: TM - Keajaiban Ramadan

Jalan cerita iklan TM ni memang menarik. Feeling jugak bila tinggal keseorangan time2 raya ni dan rasa dihargai bila ada orang yang ingat kat kita. Huhu...

p/s: kalau rajin nanti nak tambah jadi Top 10 :)P

Three Dark Crowns Series was one of the books that took me months to finish! (whilst reading other stuff of course) The setup was too long, explaining the relationship between the queens, the Houses & the suitors. And the concept of the true queen must kill her other sisters was not believable enough even until the end of the book. Probably the author is saving the real reason behind the ritual in the next book? The twist at the end of the book was a bit predictable for me. There was a moment of "I knew it!" since Katharine is so good with snakes while Arsinoe doesn't show any naturalist trait. Will Mirabella recover her trust in her sisters? The fight continues in One Dark Throne come this September! Elemental vs Poisoner vs Naturalist!

1. Dari segi kolam renang yang dicanang-canangkan bersaiz Olimpik, I still prefer Dwiputra kerana bentuknya yang unik dan bahagian infinity pool yang lebih panjang untuk residen bersidai berbanding kolam renang Setia Seraya. Ianya memanjang dan kelebaran tampak sempit. Kolam pun diasing-asingkan dan bagi yang bekeluarga menyukarkan untuk memantau anak-anak yang berenang di kolam lain. Gym juga tidak menghadap kolam renang.

2. Dari segi view dari rumah, unit 1 - 5 menghadap kolam renang dan ke arah KL (Presint 14, IOI City Mall) tapi Aras 15 ke bawah akan terhalang oleh blok B2 Dwiputra, unit 7 - 12 menghadap perumahan Presint 15 dan mungkin sipi-sipi boleh tengok Taman Rimba Alam. 10 October 2014 - Falling Kingdoms

A war between three kingdoms. The northern icy kingdom, Limeros with its snake emblem & devoted to Goddess/Watcher Valoria, ruled by the manipulative King of Blood named King Gaius with his equally evil prince Magnus & sorceress adopted princess Lucia (brought in by the witch Sabina). The middle kingdom, Paelsia with its sword emblem led by the claimed-to-be sorcerer king Chief Basilius with her princess Laelia, a poor kingdom only depends on its grape wine export, where the killing of Tomas Agallon, Jonas' brother set forth the war event. The southern rich kingdom, Auranos with its bird symbol devoted to Goddess/Watcher Cleiona, ruled by King Corvin & his two princesses, Emilia & Cleo.

Limeros joined forces with Paelsia to invade & conquer Auranos. Lucia was used to destroy the spell on Auranos castle gate. The fate of the downfall of Auranos is sealed. Limeros backstabbed Paelsia. All while the Watchers watched from the Sanctuary. Jonas who first hated Cleo now rebel against Limeros. Cleo who lost her love, Theon (son of her sister's love), her sister & his father will find the Kindred, avenge for Auranos and become the queen.

13 October 2014 - Rebel Spring

Done reading the sequel to Falling Kingdoms in a day. I really hate the Damoras, they are the Lannisters of FK. Cleo & Magnus finally married. Jonas near-death, saved by Phaedra the Watcher. Althea killed by Aron. Lucia becoming the evil bitch. I'm rooting for Cleo, but not for Jonas. Alexius & Melenia the Elder conspiring to find the Kindred. Was shock with the kissing scene between Prince Ashur Cortas & Nic. Cleo FTW

25 October 2015 - Gathering Darkness

When you are stuck spending your precious weekend with someone as mundane, boring, uninteresting & frustrating as the person could be whose definition of "fun" is staying at home doing nothing (literally nothing) when there are a lot of other fun stuff to do outside; reading a good book can saved you from being bored to death, keep you entertained & make the time well-spent instead. Luckily Gathering Darkness: Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes is a very good sequel, I finished reading it during my whole uneventful Saturday. (Spoiler Alert)

A mystery character has awakened the Fire Kindred. Turned out the Kindreds are spirits trapped in crystals by the Elders and can only be awakened by blood rituals, hence the earthquake at Temple of Cleiona in Auranos (Earth Kindred), tornado at Chief Basilius village in Paelsia (Air Kindred), fire at rebel camp near the Forbidden Mountains (Fire Kindred) & finally the ice storm at Temple of Valoria in Limeros (Water Kindred).

Princess Cleo stuck in Auranos with the Damoras made friend with Princess Lucia, sharpening her bluffing skill, and really falling in love with Prince Magnus, so is he. Jonas met Felix, an assassin sent by King Gaius to kill the rebel leader. They saved Lysandra from being executed helped by Nic & Petros then searched for the Kindreds using the info given by Cleo.

Melenia sent Alexius to mortal world, thus exiling himself from the Sanctuary, killed Xanthus & tasked him to kill Lucia. Melenia actually fell in love with the Fire Kindred, together with Cleiona & Valoria killed Eva, but Melenia got killed by Lucia in the end. Prince Ashur & Princess Amara from the Kraeshian Empire were trying to get their hands of the Kindreds as well, though Ashur really like Nic. In the end, Amara has the Water Kindred, Felix has the Air Kindred & Jonas has the Earth Kindred. The story is getting more princess-y for my liking but I have to finish what I started.

24 March 2016 - Frozen Tides

Done reading Frozen Tides, the fourth book in Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes. [SPOILER ALERT] In LIMEROS, Princess Cleo (who has the EARTH kindred) & Prince Magnus love now is stronger than ever, even though Kurtis trying to separate them. In AURANOS, Jonas finally fell in love with Lysandra. They met Olivia, a watcher sent by Timotheus. Lysandra was killed by Kyan, the FIRE kindred in PAELSIA. Kyan & Lucia were looking for the stone wheels to pull out the eldar Timotheus from Sanctuary, where they finally found one at the Forbidden Mountain. Lucia also found out that the late Chief Basilius is her real father & the Goddess of Serpents dancer, Laelia is her sister. She's also pregnant with Alexius' child. Felix gave the AIR kindred to King Gaius and they set sail to Kraeshia. In KRAESHIA, Princess Amara (who has the WATER kindred) killed her father & brothers & become Empress Cortas and wedded King Gaius. She put the blame on Felix who was thrown to the dungeon, then saved by Jonas. Before departing back to Mytica via the Silver Sea, the rebels met Taran Ranus who is Theon's twin brother (Cleo's lover who was killed by Magnus) & finally, the resurrected Prince Ashur!

The first few chapters were a bit slow, returning back to some of the forgotten plots. Reading the series while waiting for the latest season of Game of Thrones. Cleo & Magnus mostly stayed in Limeros, while Jonas & Nic went from Auranos to Limeros to Paelsia to Kraeshia. Their adventure seems to fail at every turn, Lysandra died, they failed to catch up with King Gaius two times, they went from trying to kill Magnus to allying with him. Lucia & Kyan mostly in Paelsia, except for a brief visit to Limeros.

The story about Cleo & Magnus is mostly about their love and Magnus is also about his relationship with his father, King Gaius. Jonas is about getting back freedom for Paelsia, while helping other people & strengthening his friendship with Felix. Lucia as the sorceress reborn is mostly teenage with angst throughout the book after she found out Alexius lying to her previously although she became more reasonable towards the end of the book, having found out that Kyan is also using her, and she finally arrived in the Sanctuary. She probably gonna went back for her sister Laelia too. Nic & Ashur is gonna rekindled their love, probably looking for vengeance towards Amara. Taran's appearance just gonna give a bit complication to Cleo & Magnus love story. Since King Gaius is crippled, Amara gonna try to take Mytica all by herself, but Ashur & Felix gonna give her hell. Turns out King Gaius' old love is Cleo's late mother, Elena. He also re-confirmed that Magnus' mother is Althea. Jonas is still a nobody, probably.

13 February 2017 - Crystal Storm

Done reading "Crystal Storm", the 5th book in the Falling Kingdoms series. Lucia met Timotheus at the Sanctuary. Jonas, Nic, Ashur, Felix & Taran sailed to Paelsia. King Gaius is still alive, thanks to his mother, Selia's magic. Together with Magnus, Cleo & Selia, they went to Paelsia to get the bloodstone by killing Xanthus & Dariah. All of them reunited in Paelsia. Alliance made to go against Amara. Kyan approached Amara and asked her to go to Paelsia as well, to seek for the other Kindreds. Turns out Selia is an Oldling who worshipped the Kindreds & the witch chosen by Kyan to do the blood ritual to free the Kindreds. Kyan possessed Nic & the Earth Kindred possess Olivia, the Watcher who befriended Jonas. The Air Kindred went into Taran while the Water Kindred went into Cleo, revealed as descendant of the sorceress. Magnus buried alive by Kurtis. Jonas helped Lucia giving birth to her baby, Lyssa. Cleo: "I don't think this world will survive my grief" BAM!

19 November 2014 - The Calling

Done reading Endgame: The Calling in few days. The book is thick, but the content is thin, most of the chapters are short and the sentences are short as well, a straightforward approach of writing. The story is about 12 Players aged 13-20 from 12 different ancient bloodlines, chosen by extraterrestrial being (the Annunaki, the Sky People) to play the Endgame, to save their own races, survive the Event. Sounds like Hunger Games but that's where the similarities ends. The book outlines each characters more thoroughly. The 12 Players must find 3 keys, Earth key, Sky key & Sun key. Each Players were given clues to solve puzzle of life (locations of the orb, the gate). (spoiler alert incoming)

The book told from different characters (mostly Sarah-Jago, Kala-Christopher, Maccabee-Baitsakhan, An-Chiyoko, Alice-Shari, Hilal, Aisling) brought the audience from Terracotta Army site in Xian China (Chiyoko tracked Sarah & Jago. Baitsakhan caught Shari. Christopher followed Kala. Sarah & Jago vs An & Chiyoko) to Gobekli Tepe, Turkey (via Oman & Iraq. Baitsakhan allied with Maccabee, killed Kala, found the transmitter orb. Chiyoko allied with Sarah & Jago saved Christopher) to Italy (the betrayal) to Ethiopia (Baitsakhan & Maccabee attacked Hilal) and finally to Stonehenge, England (Aisling tried to warn them, An held Christopher hostage then both got killed).

Sarah Alopay the Cahokian (Nebraska) won the first key at the Stonehenge by using the disk left by kepler 22b, used to be owned by the Mu. Shari Chopra the Harappan (India) is the Gatekeeper for Sky key. 94 days remain. Dead are Marcus Loxias Megalos the Minoan (Turkey), Kala Mozami the Sumerian (Dubai), An Liu the Shang (China), Chiyoko the Mu (Japan). Christopher, Sarah's bf, non-Player is dead too. Jago the Olmec (Peru) is Sarah's ally & current lover. Maccabee Adlai the Nabatean (Switzerland) & Baitsakhan the Donghu (Mongolia) are the dangerous pair, playing Endgame for death. Hilal ibn Isa al-Salt the Aksumite (Ethiopia), Alice the Koori (Australia) & Aisling Kopp the La Tene (New York) choose to play it alone & peaceful and they seems to understand kepler 22b motive behind the Endgame.

22 Oktober 2015 - Sky Key

Endgame Sky Key is an intense read, certainly my number one book for this year! I read the first book last year, was not very enthralled with it, probably because I was influenced with the negative controversy surrounding the author James Frey before. Besides I was a bit annoyed with the constant changing of perspective between characters. But this second book is so awesome! The constant changing between characters from chapter to chapter give me time to pause and breath and savour each chapter that I've just read. I do my reading mostly during transit going to & from workplace & home. I was so emotionally invested with all the Players. Like the first book, the sequel brought me to so many places all over the world. This time the public knew about the Endgame & there's a humongous rock called Abaddon heading to Earth. The Game continues for the surviving nine Players. (SPOILER ALERT!)

Shari Chopra the Harappan (India), confirmed that her daughter is the Sky Key, convinced the other Harappans to retreat to Valley of Eternal Life, Sikkim. There she waits for the other Players the entire book.

Hilal Ibn Isa Al-Salt the Aksumite (Ethiopia) got himself a side quest, took Rod of Aaron & Rod of Moses (ouroboros) from the Ark of Covenant, met Stella Vyctory in Las Vegas, killing Ea the Corrupter (named Wayland Vyctory). However, it seems like killing Ea is a bit too easy considering he's been living for thousand years. Probably just a setup for the next book. Hilal & Stella's relationship, though their meeting each other was only for a short time, is interesting & I love to see them reunite.

Aisling Kopp the La Tene (obviously Latin America) was caught at New York airport, teaming up with the CIA, she was the luckiest Player, getting support from the government, well, America & their conspiracy theory. She brought them to hunt An Liu in Japan then to India.

An Liu the Shang (China), another Player that I hate other than the dangerous pair, was caught on a British ship, then escaped from it, and desecrated Chiyoko Takeda's dead body to curb his ticking problem, went to Japan to get support from Chiyoko's Mu line (Japan) but got rejected. He was hunted by Aisling Kopp but successfully escaped. He posted a Youtube video & asked the public to kill other players. Hilal left a comment about Sky Key there. An Liu waited for other Players in Calcutta, India. I wish An Liu to be the first to die in the final book.

Sarah Alopay the Cahokian (North America) was emotionally unstable after killing her own boyfriend & because of her getting the Earth Key, the Game begun. Jago Tlaloc the Olmec (Mexico) & her escaped from an ambush in London then brought her to meet his family in Peru.

Maccabee Adlai the Nabatean brought Baitsakhan the Donghu (Mongolia) to his mother in Berlin to get him a new mechanical hand. Poor Alice Ulapala the Koori (Australia), I was so rooting for her, since she's Australian & a peacenik, after alerting Shari Chopra about Little Alice Chopra, she went for her own side quest to kill Baitsakhan, but she got herself killed. (She stopped over in Kuala Lumpur before heading to Berlin).

Finally, Maccabee & Baitsakhan followed Sarah & Jago who went to Tiwanaku, Bolivia & activated the Earth Key, where a portal to Sky Key opened, and they all went to India! Aisling & team killed all Harappans & reunite with all other Players. Maccabee killed Baitsakhan who nearly killed Shari Chopra (second betrayal after Chiyoko betrayed Jago & Sarah in the first book! Well this one has been foretold from the very beginning). Sarah & Jago couldn't get themselves to kill Alice Chopra. Aisling shot at Alice Chopra but somehow the Sky Key has joined with Earth Key, triggering the final round of Endgame, the Sun Key race! Maccabee's the winner for this second race! In the meantime, Hilal is in Bangkok, meeting Stella soon!

Maccabee & Baitsakhan, the killing pair, were a bit out of characters when they didn't rammed over Sarah & Jago back in Peru (because Maccabee want to see what they were doing before killing them?) & also when Sarah & Jago were unconscious (because Baitsakhan want to kill them slowly?). Well, looks like the author interrupted the flow of the story to make sure Sarah & Jago still live until the end. Is Maccabee turning soft?

I was a bit rushing trying to finish the book because there is another book which released at the same time as Sky Key, queueing to be read, one of my most awaited book for 2015, it's Gathering Darkness - Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes! All in all, Sky Key is a great read, action-packed & a page-turner!

3 January 2017 - Rules of the Game

Done reading Endgame's third and final book, "Rules of the Game". We only got to meet kepler 22b, one of the Maker and none other. Sarah Alopay the Cahokian, Jago Tlaloc the Olmec, Aisling Kopp the La Tene, Shari Chopra the Harappan and Hilal ibn Isa al-Sait the Aksumite reunited by Stella Vyctory to put a stop to Endgame. The Zero Line, a brotherhood created by Stella's adoptive father, Wayland Vyctory, a multibillionaire from Las Vegas to stop the Endgame by destroying all bloodlines' monuments killed Stella. Abaddon finally hit the world but the impact doesn't really felt throughout the book. I love how this book brought the readers from Ayutthaya, Thailand to submerged temple of Dwarka in India to Emperor Zhao's tomb in Huzhuchun, China to Temple of Yeha in Ethiopia to Monks Mound in US to Yuendumu, Australia and finally to submerged Yonaguni temple in Japan.

*SPOILER ALERT* The Maker revealed that the Sun Key could be any player once all 3 keys are in any monument. kepler 22b caught Aisling & her pop at Govi-Altai, Mongolia, the Donghu monument (Baitsakhan, one of the Player I hate was killed in the second book) to be used as the Sun Key. An Liu the Shang met & allied with Nori Ko who trained Chiyoko the Mu then killed Maccabee Adlai the Nabatean and took the Earth & Little Alice the Sky Key in China. Hilal & Shari met & allied with Jenny, gram of Big Alice Ulapala the Koori in Australia who knows how to read the Maker's book & use the portals between monuments via the Dreaming to save Little Alice. Sarah & Jago met Sarah's father on the way to Monks Mound US and retrieved the weapon that could killed the Maker. I felt shocked & sad for the death of Sarah & Jago in the hand of Tsuro/Masaka, brother of Nori Ko, just like that, it feels too rushed and the author just want to kill them to finish the book quick. The ending was so anti-climax, there's no other Maker who avenge the death of one of their own, and we didn't really get to know the real reason of the Endgame. It's just Hilal, Aisling & Shari who survived and rebuild New York where Abaddon hit. I want more!

1) Goblin

Star-studded cast, captivating cinematography, mesmerizing music. Movie-like quality. Grim Reaper & Goblin living in the same house. Goblin looking for his bride. My number 1 for 2016 and a must watch! Hero from My Girl & Coffee Prince and supporting heroine from Queen In-hyun's Man.

2) Legend of the Blue Sea

Spiritual successor to My Love from the Star. Mermaids story with some twist. Would be my number 1 for 2016 if not for Goblin.

3) W Two Worlds

Unique concept - webtoon. Haven't started watching it yet but at least unique than others.

4) Love in the Moonlight

Pretty much similar to other K-dramas featuring girls disguised as boys.

5) Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

Similar to other time-travelling dramas.

6) Doctors

Another medical korean drama. Watch this for Park Shin Hye.

7) Descendants of the Sun

Soldiers, doctors. Watched this till finish because it's popular and the combination of hero & heroine.

I've watched this movie 3 times since its premiere on 16th November so here's some of my theories and speculations.

1) The real reason Newt came to New York is because Albus personally asked him to find Grindewald and maybe to study the Obscurus-linked incidents.

The Minister of Magic asked Newt if his reason coming to New York is really to get an Appaloosa Puffskein. Newt also told Jacob that the reason he came to America is to release Frank the Thunderbird in Arizona.

2) Albus gonna asked Newt to Obliviate him using Swooping Evil potion

Obliviate seems to be the central theme of the movie and it even introduce Swooping Evil as the source for powerful Obliviate potion. I think Albus gonna asked Newt to Obliviate him using that potion so that he would forget the death of Ariana and the betrayal of Grindewald and that's also the reason why Albus always talked in riddles during HP period.

2) Newt is studying Obscurus because Albus asked him. Ariana is likely an Obscurus. Obscurus might also be the key to the origin of Voldemort and how he split his soul into 7 parts.

We didn't see what happen to Modesty or Chastity, Credence's foster siblings, either of them is likely to be the candidate to host the stolen Obscurus. Grindewald is hiding the Obscurus that Newt got from Sudan. Dunno if Credence really die in the end. Grindewald said "Will we die just a little?"

3) Queenie, a Legillimens is likely to be connected to Salazar Slytherin and Voldemort.

Or maybe Luna Lovegood because she acts like one.

5) The Niffler might be hiding important Horcrux candidate in his cute nest.

Because he's into shiny things!

6) Douglas the Demiguise might led us to the revelation of Invisibility Cloak.

According to the textbook, Demiguise pelts maybe spun to Invisibility Cloaks. Demiguise has invisibility and some sort of divination and probably gonna have some important roles in the next movie.

7) Other observations:

The symbol that Grindewald gave to Credence is the symbol of the Deathly Hallows - Elder Wand, Sorcerer's Stone and Invisibility Cloak.

Some foreshadowing stuff that will puzzled the audience when they first watch the movie that only the screenplay writer know such as why would Newt asked Jacob and Queenie not to be predictable when trying to catch Douglas (because he can has some sort of prediction sighting), why Newt's wand permit application was not processed (because it turned into origami rat & fight with other origami rat), when Jacob opened Newt's suitcase the people on the street saw a hippopotamus (it's the Erumpent), why Newt asked Jacob to wear headgear and vest (Erumpent again), why Newt doesn't realized one of the Occamy missing (because one hatched during the bank scene). the Giggle Water was introduced in the opening scene after Grindewald attack.

We're gonna meet young Albus, Aberforth & Ariana in the next movie.

The sultry jazz song "Blind Pig" during the scene with Gnarlak is penned by JK Rowling herself. I love it!

Selesai membaca buku "Matriks" oleh Aiman Quinto dalam tempoh 2-3 jam. Apa yang menarik saya untuk membeli buku ini adalah jalan ceritanya yang berkisarkan game dan kulit bukunya juga menarik. Jalan ceritanya dicedok dari anime Sword Art Online. Turut mengingatkan saya tentang anime Log Horizon dan Accel World. Juga buku Ready Player One. Satu percubaan yang baik dari penulis.

Ralph/nsquinto, Malaysian gamer yang belajar di Jepun menyertai guild Aschente sebelum pulang ke Malaysia mengasaskan guild Marbel untuk melindungi 13 Safe Zone. Wataknya memang sebijik Kirito dalam SAO, kelas Double Swordsman siap skill Starburst Stream. Kelas2 lain seperti Assassin, Thief, Beast, Tamer, Tactician, Samurai, Ninja, Barbarian, Warrior, Knight, Cleric, Paladin, Priest, Ice Mage, Alchemist, Transporter, Mimic, Soldier, Tinkerer, Archer, Laserman, Fighter, Pirate. Equipment level Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, Ultra Rare dan Legendary (Grimoire & Excalibur)

Jalan cerita terdiri daripada beberapa arcs, arc pertama tentang 2 orang budak Jepun iaitu Satoshi & Tsukasa. Arc kedua tentang guild Aschente, mencari Transporter kemudiannya menentang Firaun Farouq kelas Tamer yang menjajah Egypt dengan tentera Pharaoh's Ordernya dan guild Soul Keeper yang membunuh gamers lain. Arc ketiga tentang Ralph ke Israel menghapuskan server Matriks dan mengembalikan dunia ke keadaan asal. Turut diselitkan unsur ketuhanan. Juga twist Makcik Naname.

Boardgame: Scythe 7th Solo Session Report

This is my 7th time playing solo variant of Scythe. I enjoy the solo variant more than I anticipated. The Automa cards randomize the AI actions thus more unpredictability which gives the solo variant an extra edge compares to other games. And it took less than an hour to finish a solo session.

Tonight I played as Engineering Rusviet. Rusviet because I lost terribly playing the faction before. Engineering is the random player mat I got, which gives more benefits in building structures. The Automa played as Polania. It was East against the West tonight.

I was lucky to get the secret objective that goes well with my faction ability, that is to have a Factory card and 0 upgrades (Technological Breakthrough). But first I need to build the mech that allows me to move between village that I controlled and the Factory (Township). My favourite first action is to produce, with a village and a mountain adjacent to my homebase, I got another worker and iron. Then I moved all workers to the mountain and my character, Olga to the village. Next production gave me 3 more irons to be used to deploy the mech on next turn.With the Township ability unlocked, I moved my character to the Factory and the mech brought all the workers to the desert nearby to drill some oil. 1 achievement star on board and another lucky strike at the Factory when I got the extra action to pay 2 different resources to either deploy a mech or build a structure. The next few turns were focusing on producing resources & moving around for the top-row actions while also doing upgrades, deploy some mechs & build structures. My next 3 stars came from those 3 actions: upgrades, mechs & structures. It was among the best engine I've ever built in the game.

My character was able to take 7 encounters while moving around the land! The 1st was to build my first structure on the desert in my peninsula, 2nd enlisting the recruit (the bear!) that give me power everytime I upgrade while also taking 2 combat cards as the 1-time bonus as the combat cards that I started with has low numbers, 3rd deploying another mech, 4th gaining 2 popularity because I already have al 4 mechs by the time my character took that encounter with the cow and mech, 5th enlisting my 2nd recruit and I increased my popularity with people of the land during the last 2 encounters. Only 2 encounters left by the end of the game, while the other 2 encounters were taken by the Automa.

However, the Automa's combat units were moving too close to my homebase in the middle of the game. In the only combat during the game, I used up all my power and my highest combat card (5) to protect the mountain with monument. Luckily the Automa only used 7 power and no combat card. I got my 5th star, tied with the Automa. Another lucky moment when I drew the Automa card and it didn't advance on that round, giving me an extra turn to put my final star on board! I usually ended the game by moving my mechs while dropping off the workers to spread all over the map and control more territories, but since I already did that before the last Automa's turn, I chose to produce the last worker from 1 of the village I controlled, which also cost me 1 power and 1 popularity. Thank God I already increased my popularity to the second tier before.

The game ends with me - 86 and the Automa - 77, thanks to the extra points from structure bonus. Here's some more pictures of the state of the board by the end of the game! It really was an awesome journey throughout the land, and looking back at the board after the game feels so amazing!

Done reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child during break! The final Part II, Act 4 (SPOILER ALERT) Draco - Astoria sad story 😢 2nd Time-Turner! Godric's Hollow! Oh so many memorable places. Harry's blanket. The quarrel on who should transfigured to Voldemort hahaha. Delphi's mother! A story about fatherhood & friendship. Dumbledore to Harry: "There is never a perfect answer in this messy, emotional world. Perfection is beyond the reach of humankind, beyond the reach of magic. In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe." 😢 A decade of waiting made worthwhile! Certainly a nostalgic trip down the memory lane. Beautiful, and as HP books before, captivating, leaving you emotionally breathless until the last page. Now, let's wait for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie this winter!
