The facts in this video are AMAZING! (Michael Hyatt has transcribed a list of all the stats in this video.)

Our world is changing fast. The biggest change I see is how mobile our world is becoming. One of the stats in the video says that “the mobile device will be the world’s primary connection tool to the Internet in 2020.”

The innovations in mobile technology are something that investors should pay attention to. So far, Apple and Research In Motion have been the leaders with the iPhone and the BlackBerry. Will new players emerge? Or, will these companies continue to dominate the Smartphone market?

Here are Perry’s 8 principles for leading teams:

You Will Never Effectively Motivate Someone With Feelings Of Guilt

People Don’t Respond To Need–They Respond To Vision

A Person Cannot Be Held Accountable For Unspoken Expectations

Keep Short Accounts

Don’t Be Afraid To Set High Standards

Beware of the All Star

Each Team Member Is A Human Being

Ask Questions

Read Perry’s complete thoughts on these eight principles here and here.

Andy Stanley is one of the best communicators I know of. He is thought-provoking, inspirational, and memorable. Best of all, he is a great story teller that knows how to keep my attention! I just finished his latest book, The Principle of the Path. The book revolves around a very simple principle: Direction—not intention—determines our destination.

This principle seems obvious, but as we travel on the journey of life we don’t really think about it. Or, when we do think about it it’s because we realize we’ve chosen the wrong path.

Everyone has dreams and desires for their future. Most of us have great intentions. But our intentions alone aren’t enough to get us to our desired destination. We must be making choices and decisions that keep us moving in the right direction. Life is connected. Yesterday affects today, and today will affect tomorrow. The things you do and the decisions you make today will affect tomorrow’s experiences.

Some other helpful takeaways from Andy are:

The best question ever: “In light of my past experience, and my future hopes and dreams, what’s the wise thing to do?”

Our quest for happiness often trumps our appreciation and pursuit for truth.

There is a relationship between submission to God and our ability to pick the best path.

“You will never reach your full potential without tapping into the wisdom of others.”

“Your life would be better, richer, and more enjoyable if less of your attention had been hijacked from the things you should have been focusing on.”

“The things you give your attention to will influence the direction and destination of everyone in your circle of influence.”

Disappointment creates powerful emotions. Emotions fueled by disappointment can drive people to behaviors that put their dreams (and the dreams of others) out of reach.

I highly recommend this book to everyone, but I think it is especially helpful for young people. The sooner you understand and live by this principle, the greater your chance of avoiding future regrets.

Get more information or buy the book from Thomas Nelson or Amazon.

We all have dreams. Some of them are worth pursuing. However, there are some things to consider before jumping in with both feet. So what does it take to achieve a dream? What things need to be considered before pursuing your dream? How do you know if a dream is worth pursuing?

I recently came across John Maxwell’s new book, Put Your Dream to the Test. In this book, Dr. Maxwell presents ten questions that every dreamer needs to ask to put a dream to the test:

The Ownership Question: Is my dream really my dream?

The Clarity Question: Do I clearly see my dream?

The Reality Question: Am I depending on factors within my control to achieve my dream?

The Passion Question: Does my dream compel me to follow it?

The Pathway Question: Do I have a strategy to reach my dream?

The People Question: Have I included the people I need to realize my dream?

The Cost Question: Am I willing to pay the price for my dream?

The Tenacity Question: Am I moving closer to my dream?

The Fulfillment Question: Does working toward my dream bring satisfaction?

The Significance Question: Does my dream benefit others?

If you can answer yes to all of these questions, then the odds of achieving your dream are pretty good. Dream BIG and go for it!

I recently finished reading Killing Cockroaches by Tony Morgan. Let me just say it: If you are a pastor or leader in a church that is serious about spreading your message, then you must read this book. Tony’s book is about the methods we use to spread our message.

“The church needs to wake up. We may be communicating truth, but people aren’t listening. That’s not a message problem–that’s a method problem.” – Tony Morgan

It’s time for change. It’s time to get more strategic. Tony’s book is a great tool for anyone involved in a church who wants to think creatively about innovative ways to engage people with your ministry.

Here are 7 reasons to read Killing Cockroaches:

Tony is a church strategy guru. I’ve been reading his blog for a couple of years. He’s got a lot of good things to say. I have learned alot from Tony’s thoughts. If you are a pastor or leader in a church, he’s someone I’d take the time to listen to.

If you don’t think strategy is important in ministry, then give this book a chance. It may change your mind. Oh, and don’t miss the story about Nothing, Arizona and Tony’s list of 10 Advantages of Doing Ministry Without a Strategy.

The book is so easy to read. I like Tony’s style. His writing has a great mix of stories, humor, sarcasm, and practical ideas. There are no chapters. Instead the book is packed with bite-sized nuggets of wisdom. Each piece of wisdom will left me wanting more.

The book is practical. I suggest you take Tony’s advice and read the book slowly implementing the ideas as you read it. Even better, you might want to go through this book together with your ministry team.

Tony keeps things simple. Clayton King once said, “Knowledge is the accumulation of facts. Wisdom is the application of common sense.” To me much of what Tony says is simply application of common sense. Tony does not allow his knowledge to complicate things.

I love bullet points and lists. There are lots of em in Tony’s book.

It will prepare you for the Killing Cockroaches Summer Tour.

No exaggeration….If you apply the principles in Tony’s book you will take your ministry to a whole new level!
