Owner of East India Company is now an Indian

The East India Company which ruled India for over 200 years is now owned by an Indian Sanjiv Mehta.The article is a tribute to India and this great son.

The East India Company which ruled us for over 200 years is now owned by an Indian. When i heard this news my heart was filled with patriotism and love for our country. The news gave me a feeling of proud and the glory of India seems to be regained. Mr. Sanjiv Mehta, a Mumbai based entrepreneur, bought the company with an investment of nearly $ 15 million.

My mind was taken back to the pages of history and i refreshed my knowledge about our country. The East India Company was established way back in ending decades of 15th century by the queen Elizabeth 1. The queen allowed a group of merchants to trade across the India ocean with the Indies countries. Later the company was given the Royal Charter by Elizabeth in 1600. The company grew in size shape and expanded over a large number of countries. The companies was having its own army, shipping, currency and control over major trading posts in India. The East India Company became a powerful arm of British imperial and in India it was known as Company Bahadur. The company brought control over India and many countries under the command of British Crown.

Sanjiv Mehta bought the company from its owners in 2005. In addition he traveled around the world to gather more knowledge about the company. He himself was filled with a joy when he finally got all the rights of the company. He has opened a store in London with the name of East India Company London store. The store offers a large variety of world wide products and tea is still the specialty of East India Company. They offer you a large variety of brands of tea to choose from. The store sells products that are made in London but with the taste and culture influenced from all of the world.

The feeling itself is great and i would love to share this news with all of you. But one thought hurt me that this news was nowhere in our newspapers or news channels. The most important part of Indian history was left uncovered by the so called active media. Still its a great news for me and i hope for you too.

If you ask me, Opera Mini can easily be called the best innovation after the cellphone phone itself. A mid-server sitting somewhere in the Obama-land compresses all your web pages and sends it to you at just 1/10th of the size of the original web page. Also you can store all your bookmarks on Opera’s server and synchronize them between your PC and mobile; very useful when upgrading or such like. Supports uploading files, saving web pages, has a RSS reader and has a few themes in the latest version to suit your whims and fancies

If you are a Windows Mobile or Symbian S60 user, you could also try Skyfire.

GMail for Mobile is a simple Java application to access your Gmail account. It’s definitely faster and more efficient than trying to access it from your browser. Only problem is, you can’t attach anything.

What?

A simple software that decides what colour temperature is right for your eyes at a particular time.

Why?

Ever sat late into the night completing some project and trudged right in to the morning only to find the sunlight pierce your world? Or lost your sleep because the monitor you were working was a tad too bright? Right from your childhood, you were advised against seeing television in the night or in dark rooms. That’s because our eyes expect to see something mellow in the dark. And bright things during the day.

Erm.. so?

Enter F.Lux which according to your geographical location decides how bright or not your monitor should be. During the day, it’ll be nice and bright as usual but as the day starts giving way to the night, F.Lux will start decreasing the colour temperature. This ensures that you do not strain your eyes whilst burning the midnight oil. And it also might help cure insomnia for those who end their day looking at a monitor and working their assess off right up to the time they hit the sack.

Really?

I, for one can testify the fact that its far better looking at the F.Lux-ed up monitor than just dimming the whole thing down a few notches. And this might sound a bit weird, but I guess the creative juices flow better when your monitor is not overwhelming you with its brightness.

Parents are Precious

Venkatesh Balasubramaniam (who works for IIT) describes how his gesture of booking an air ticket for his father, his maiden flight, brought forth a rush of emotions and made him (Venkatesh) realize that how much we all take for granted when it comes to our parents.
My parents left for our native place on Thursday and we went to the airport to see them off. In fact, my father had never traveled by air before, so I just took this opportunity to make him experience the same. In spite of being asked to book tickets by train, I got them tickets on Jet Airways.The moment I handed over the tickets to him, he was surprised to see that I had booked them by air. The excitement was very apparent on his face,waiting for the time of travel.Just like a school boy, he was preparing himself on that day and we all went to the airport, right from using the trolley for his luggage, the baggage check-in and asking for a window seat and waiting restlessly for the security check-in to happen. He was thoroughly enjoying himself and I,too, was overcome with joy watching him experience all these things.

As they were about to go in for the security check-in, he walked upto me with tears in his eyes and thanked me. He became very emotional and it was not as if I had done something great but the fact that this meant a great deal to him. When he said thanks, I told him there was no need to thank me.But later, thinking about the entire incident, I looked back at my life. As a child, how many dreams our parents have made come true. Without understanding the financial situation, we ask for cricket bats, dresses,toys, outings, etc. Irrespective of their affordability, they have catered to all our needs. Did we ever think about the sacrifices they had to make to accommodate many of our wishes? Did we ever say thanks for all that they have done for us? Same way, today when it comes to our children, we always think that we should put them in a good school. Regardless of the amount of donation, we will ensure that we will have to give the child the best,theme parks, toys, etc. But we tend to forget that our parents have sacrificed a lot for our sake to see us happy, so it is our responsibility to ensure that their dreams are realized and what they failed to see when they were young. It is our responsibility to ensure that they experience all those and their life is complete. Many times, when my parents had asked me some questions, I have actually answered back without patience. When my daughter asks me something, I have been very polite in answering. Now I realize how they would have felt at those moments.Let us realize that old age is a second childhood and just as we take care of our children, the same attention and same care needs to be given to our parents and elders. Rather than my dad saying thank you to me, I would want to say sorry for making him wait so Long for this small dream. I do realize how much he has sacrificed for my Sake and I will do my best to give the best possible attention to all their wishes.Just because they are old does not mean that they will have to give up everything and keep sacrificing for their grandchildren also.

They have wishes, too.Take care of your parents.

Unique Identity Number

The process to assign a unique identity number to each Indian has been started under the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Nandan Nilekani (in picture left) to formally assume UID.

It is expected that a unique identification number (UID) that can be verified and authenticated in an online, cost-effective manner, and which is robust enough to eliminate duplicate and fake identities, will help to bring about transformation in the lives of many Indians, who struggle daily to access and rightfully use resources that are available for them. Do you agree?
Now is the time to give suggestions and inputs on how this UID Project can be designed and implemented to be people-friendly, useful and easily doable for
government.
Some examples:
a) what are simple and effective ways to prevent misuse?
b) is biometric identification the most suitable method to adopt in India?
c) how can UID be used to benefit groups such as migrant workers, street children, etc.?
d) should the UID be integrated with other existing I/Cards such as the Pan Card, Voting Card, etc.? How?
e) have you heard of experiences of similar initiatives in other countries, companies, etc.?
f) what are the experiences of NGOs which have been working with groups of all types and sizes, and how such persons could use and benefit from a UID.

National Anthem

The National Anthem of India is played or sung on various occasions. Instructions have been issued from time to time about the correct versions of the Anthem, the occasions on which these are to be played or sung, and about the need for paying respect to the anthem by observance of proper decorum on such occasions. The substance of these instructions has been embodied in this information sheet for general information and guidance.

The National Anthem - Full & Short Versions

The composition consisting of the words and music of the first stanza of the late poet Rabindra Nath Tagore's song known as "Jana Gana Mana" is the National Anthem of India. It reads as follows:

Jana-gana-mana-adhinayaka, jaya he
Bharata-bhagya-vidhata.
Punjab-Sindh-Gujarat-Maratha
Dravida-Utkala-Banga
Vindhya-Himachala-Yamuna-Ganga
Uchchala-Jaladhi-taranga.

The above is the full version of the Anthem and its playing time is approximately 52 seconds.
A short version consisting of the first and last lines of the National Anthem is also played on certain occasions. It reads as follows:

The occasions on which the full versions or the short version will be played have been indicated at the appropriate places in these instructions.

Playing of the Anthem

The full version of the Anthem shall be played on the following occasions:
1. Civil and Military investitures;
2. When National Salute (which means the Command "Rashtriya Salute – Salami Shastr" to the accompaniment of the National Anthem is given on ceremonial occasions to the President or to the Governor/Lieutenant Governor within their respective States/Union Territories;
3. During parades – irrespective of whether any of the dignitaries referred to in (ii) above is present or not;
4. On arrival of the President at formal State functions and other functions organized by the Government and mass functions and on his departure from such functions;
5. Immediately before and after the President addresses the Nation over All India Radio;
6. On arrival of the Governor/Lieutenant Governor at formal State functions within his State/Union Territory and on his departure from such functions;
7. When the National Flag is brought on parade;
8. When the Regimental Colours are presented;
9. For hoisting of colours in the Navy.
The short version of the Anthem shall be played when drinking toasts in Messes.
The Anthem shall be played on any other occasion for which special orders have been issued by the Government of India.
Normally the Anthem shall not be played for the Prime Minister, though there may be special occasions when it may be played.
When the National Anthem is played by a band, the Anthem will be preceded by a roll of drums to assist the audience to know that the National Anthem is going to be played, unless there is some other specific indication that the National Anthem is about to be played, as for example, when fanfares are sounded before the National Anthem is played, or when toasts are drunk to the accompaniment of the National Anthem or when the National Anthem constitutes the National Salute given by a Guard of Honour. The duration of the roll, in terms of marching drill, will be 7 paces in slow march. The roll will start slowly, ascend to as loud a volume as possible and then gradually decreases to original softness, but remaining audible until the seventh beat. One beat rest will then be observed before commencing the National Anthem.

Mass Singing of the Anthem

The full version of the Anthem shall be played accompanied by mass singing on the following occasions:
1. On the unfurling of the National Flag, on cultural occasions or ceremonial functions other than parades. (This could be arranged by having a choir or adequate size, suitably stationed, which would be trained to coordinate its singing with the band etc. There should be an adequate public audition system so that the gathering in various enclosures can sing in unison with the choir);
2. On arrival of the President at any Government or Public function (but excluding formal State functions and mess functions) and also immediately before his departure from such functions.
On all occasions when the National Anthem is sung, the full version shall be recited accompanied by mass singing.
The Anthem may be sung on occasions which, although not strictly ceremonial, are nevertheless invested with significance because of the presence of Ministers etc. The singing of the Anthem on such occasions (with or without the accompaniment of an instruments) accompanied by mass singing is desirable.
It is not possible to give an exhaustive list of occasions on which the singing (as distinct from playing) of the Anthem can be permitted. But there is no objection to the singing of the Anthem accompanied by mass singing so long as it is done with due respect as a salutation to the motherland and proper decorum is maintained.
In all schools, the day's work may begin with community singing of the anthem. School authorities should make adequate provision in their programmes for popularising the singing of the Anthem and promoting respect for the National Flag among students.

General

Whenever the Anthem is sung or played, the audience shall stand to attention. However, when in the course of a newsreel or documentary the Anthem is played as a part of the film, it is not expected of the audience to stand as standing is bound to interrupt the exhibition of the film and would create disorder and confusion rather than add to the dignity of the Anthem.
As in the case of the flying of the National Flag, it has been left to the good sense of the people not to indulge in indiscriminate singing or playing of the Anthem.

Blogal Warming

Introduction: With the number of blogs increasing exponentially, the blogosphere is under a severe threat. The writing has always been on the wall (and I’m not just talking about facebook). Too many blogs and too many heated discussions have led to the inevitable – Blogal Warming.

Of course not everyone is aware of this affliction, but it is all around us. Its tentacles have already engulfed our community and it is only a matter of time before it squeezes the life out.

As a responsible citizen of the blogosphere, I consider it my duty and privilege to inform the ignorant of this great malady.

Blogal warming broadly refers to the increase in the average temperature of systems the world over, in the past decade, caused by excessive blogging, mindless link forwarding, blog whoring, blog rolling etc. The more specific problems associated with BW will be discussed later on.

Reasons: Studies conducted over the past few days by this astute observer have helped in identifying the root of the problem. As can be readily imagined, the trouble starts when a layman decides he should start a blog. There are various reasons which can be ascribed to this.

1) Green House Effect – Sidin Vadukut says “Everyone and their mother-in-laws think they can write”. A statistical survey conducted on young bloggers has brought to light the reason for this belief – Almost 90% of the subjects admitted that this belief stemmed from having won a prize for creative writing in some inter-house competition at school.

Since the majority of our subjects happened to represent the “Green House”, we’ve dubbed this the green house effect.

In anomalous cases, winning a second prize in flower arrangement in 5th standard has also been deemed as reason enough to start writing a blog.

2) CFCs – The mere feeling that one can write would not have generated so much blogal warming. There had to be a secondary reason. This is of course well known to all of us. The glitz and glamour and the charm of blogging is a feature called comments. The number of comments obtained on one’s blogposts has become a status symbol of sorts. CFC or Craving For Comments is the major driving force behind increased BW.

Effects: The effects of Blogal Warming can readily be guessed. Some of these have been discussed.
1) Temperature Rise – As discussed before, the major effect of BW is the rise in temperature of systems. With the increasing number of blogs, the 35th tab of Mozilla Firefox (a feat once deemed impossible) has become the standard for an average browser. This devil-may-care attitude towards browsing has put immense strain on the system, causing it to heat up more than usual.

2) Holes in the Awe-zone layer – About 5% of the blogosphere consists of readable material and among this close to 1% of the bloggers are particularly awesome. This one percent, called the Awe-zone, occurs at the top of the Blogosphere. Its function is to keep out aspiring bloggers by instilling a feeling of inferiority in them.

However the rapid increase of blogs coupled by inactivity of some bloggers in the awe-zone layer, have caused holes to start appearing in the awe-zone layer. The gap between the awe-zone layer and the rest of the blogosphere has reduced.

This in turn has caused more people to take up blogging as there is someone (whose level) they can relate to in the blogosphere. (The analogy is similar to a person setting out to buy a phone for 6000 rupees. The salesman convinces him that if he can afford 6000, he can afford 7000 and get a much better phone. Once the customer agrees to this, he convinces him that he can get an 8000 rupee phone…. Finally the customer ends up buying a phone worth 13000.)

Holes in the awe-zone layer cause skin trouble. The most commonly observed affliction is an itch to blog.

3) Blogal warming as defined in the Oxford dictionary, also has a secondary meaning – “The delusion that Blogs can be used as a way to warm up to hot chicks”. The first casualty of this delusion was Paul George Tharian. Given below is the photographic evidence of this claim- a screenshot from the Orkut Scrapbook of a blogger. Start reading from the bottom and proceed to the top.

Although this can at best be defined as delusion, it is only fair that this should be included at least as a theoretical effect of blogal warming. We will call it Paul George Tharian’s ice-breaking with girls or simply melting of the Paul-ar ice ;)

Remedies:
1) The only way to combat Blogal Warming is by restoring the Awe-zone layer and putting the rest of the blogosphere way out of reach. You can all help this cause by pouring out your unbounded admiration for this blog.

2) Some people out there think that they can land chicks by blogging. It is of vital importance that we prove them wrong. This can be achieved if all girls out there fall for a single guy and tell the rest of the world that they are not available. To save the blogosphere, I’m willing to take up the cause of being that single guy. :D

Twidroid supports all features of Twitter including Twitter lists. You can shake your Android phone to fetch the latest tweets but this again requires the pro edition.
4b. Seesmic – With Seesmic for Android, you can capture photos or record videos and share them on directly Twitter via yFrog. The app will also let you share you current location on Twitter. You can configure Seemic to notify you with a custom ringtone (or a blinking light) when there’s a new @reply or direct message for you on Twitter.

5. Twitter Apps for iPhone and iPod Touch

5a. Tweetdeck – TweetDeck is a brilliant application that you may use to manage both Facebook and your multiple Twitter accounts from the iPhone or iPod Touch.
The app will automatically sync with TweetDeck Desktop so if you have created any custom search columns on the desktop, they’ll also become available inside the mobile app (and vice-versa). Just shake your iPhone to check if there are any new updates.
5b. Tweetie – This $3 app is one of the most popular Twitter client for iPhone with a very impressive UI. There’s an offline mode so you can do things like reading past tweets, following new people, replying to tweets, etc. even without a data connection. You also get a bookmarklet that lets you post links from Safari directly to Twitter via the Tweetie app.
5c. Twittelator – One of the unique features of Twittelator is that it lets you record and tweet both audio and video clips from your iPhone. You can even tweet the name of the song that’s currently playing on your iPhone. The basic version of Twittelator is available for free on the iTunes store.
5d. Echofon – This is light-weight Twitter client for the iPhone that is free and supports nearly all the basic function of Twitter. More ways to use Twitter on mobile phones

If you can’t find a decent Twitter application for your mobile phone, you should check out Dabr. This is like an improved version of Twitter’s mobile site.
Dabr will display a more detailed profile of Twitter users so you can quickly decide whether or not to follow a particular user. It will auto-convert Twitpic and other picture URLs into thumbnails so you can view images directly in your Twitter timeline without having to click the click. And since Dabr is a mobile website, you can use it from just about any mobile phone, not just a smartphone.

Another option is email. Just associate your Twitter account with Posterous and then you’ll be able to post updates on Twitter by sending emails to twitter@posterous.com. Whatever you put in the email subject will be converted into your Twitter status.
This email to twitter option will be quite handy if your phone plan allows unlimited email but you need to pay for every extra byte that you download on the phone (lot of BlackBerry plans are like this).

It happens all the time. You are sitting in a restaurant with friends or driving to work and there’s some beautiful music playing on the FM radio station. You would love to buy a copy of that music album for yourself but the problem is that you didn’t get the lyrics so how do you find out the name of that song. “What’s the name of that song ? I don’t remember the lyrics”
Search engines like Google or Bing won’t be of much help unless you know a couple of words from the song lyrics or have some clue about the name of the artist or the band. How do you then identify the name of that lovely song?
Well, here are some of the best music recognition services that can help you discover song names without having to know the lyrics. You may use them to identify music playing from the radio, TV, Internet or that CD playing in the bar.

1. Find Music with your Mobile Phone

1a. Shazam – Shazam is a mobile application that you may use to find song names from your iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Android or your Nokia S60 phone. You may also use Shazam on an iPod Touch provided you have an external microphone.
Simply install the Shazam application, hold your phone towards the audio source and hit the Tag button to let Shazam identify the playing music. Shazam works only with pre-recorded music and not with live performances.
The free version of Shazam will help you identify up to 5 different track per month while Shazam Encore, the paid version, offers unlimited tracking for $4.99. If the tune cannot be recognized, there’s no charge. If you are in the UK, you can use just about any mobile phone to recognize music with Shazam – just dial 2580 and hold your phone to the music.
1b. MusicID – Hold your iPhone up to some music and MusicID will tell you what song is playing. It’s a $3 iPhone App available worldwide but if you are on AT&T, you may also use your Blackberry, Windows Mobile or any Java phone to identify music with MusicID.
Like Shazam, MusicID works only with pre-recorded music and they also have an SMS based service for people in the US that doesn’t require any downloads – just dial a short code, hold your phone up to some music and you’ll get a text message with the result.

2. Find song names using your own voice

2a. Midomi – If you have a tune that’s stuck in your head, just grab a microphone, hum that tune yourself and Midomi will be able tell you what that song is. Alternatively, you may play a short recording of that “unknown” track for Midomi to identify its name.
Unlike Shazam which is a mobile app, Midomi offers a web interface where you can can hum or sing for about 10 seconds and the service will then show you a list of matching songs. For best results, keep the volume bar in the green and avoid background noise.
Midomi is free to use online, but it also offers mobile apps for iPhone, Android, Nokia Ovi and Windows Mobile phones. You can identify songs by holding your phone up to a speaker or by singing / humming the melody into the phone itself.

3. Record a short clip to identify the music

3a. AudioTag – If you have a short recording of a song on your computer or your mobile phone, you may use the online music recognition service at AudioTag to figure out the exact name of that song.
You can upload a short audio snippet (or even a whole song) and Audio will try to identify the track title by comparing the audio to its own music database. For best results, you should either take a slice from the middle of the song or upload the whole song and the recognition engine will choose slices randomly by itself.
This can be especially useful if you can record a portion of the song on your mobile device, and then check out the song’s information whenever you go online.

4. Identify Music with help of humans

4a. WatZatSong – When computers fail to identify the song that you are looking for, you can take the help of human being who may have an idea about that song.
WatZatSong (“What’s that song?”) is a social site where you can upload a short MP3 audio recording of the song (or record yourself by humming) and other members of the site can then help you guess the exact song name. The suggestions won’t come instantly but you can make their task a bit easier by proving more details about the song like the language in which it is sung or the music style.
You can cross-post the same WatZatSong request to other social sites like Twitter, Facebook, etc. so your entire network can help you in the search.
4b. Name My Tune – Sing or hum a short clip of the song you are trying to find the name of. Once you are done recording and enter the Genre and Era that you think the song most likely fits in. They’ll send you an email when other people on that site are able to recognize your tune.

5. Use a virtual keyboard to find the song name

5a. Musipedia – With Musipedia, you can search for a song by either playing it on a virtual piano keyboard or by whistling it to the computer using any microphone.
Musipedia is styled after Wikipedia and works best at finding classical music. Unlike Shazam which can will only find songs that exactly match the recording, Musipedia can identify all music that contain a particular melody that you just recorded by humming or through the computer keyboard.
5b. MelodyCatcher – If you can play the tune on a virtual keyboard, MelodyCatcher can help you find the name of the song tune you’re looking for.
With a simple Java-based onscreen keyboard, simply use your mouse to enter the melody, click search, and MelodyCatcher will show you a list of matching songs from across the web. You do not need to enter the full melody: the first 5-7 notes will usually be sufficient to identify a melody.

Cannot Open a Particular Website?

Your computer is connected to the Internet but you are unable to open a particular website though all the other sites are loading without issues.
For instance, you can open yahoo.com and bing.com but it takes forever to load www.google.com even though the site is up for everyone else in the world.

Step 1: Like with everything else, switch off the modem, restart the computer, and turn on the modem again. Also clear the Internet cookies and browser cache. Problem gone? No, proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Temporarily disable your computer’s firewall and close any anti-virus software that may be running in the background. If you are now able to access the websites that were previously not loading, your security program is causing the problem. As as workaround, you can add that site to the “trusted” zone in Internet Explorer and see if it works.
Step 3: Open your hosts file and see if there are any entries for sites that are currently unreachable from your computer. The hosts file is located in the following folder:

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Step 3: Try a remote screen capture. For instance, if the URL of the error site is abc.com, try opening aviary.com/http://abc.com in your browser. This will help you make sure that the site you are trying to access is not down at the source.
Step 4: Clear your DNS cache and run the ping and traceroute commands against the problematic site to make sure that it is not an ISP specific issue.

tracert www.error-website.com
ping www.error-website.com

If the DNS server is an issue, you can easily switch to Google DNS or OpenDNS without having to call the ISP’s support. However, if the ping and traceroute connections are successful but the sites remain unreachable, proceed to the next step.
Step 5. Reset the modem to factory defaults and re-configure it with the same username and password that was provided by the ISP. You can reset the modem by pressing a pin inside the hole located at the back of the modem for about 10 seconds. Or you can call your ISP support and let them guide you through the steps over phone.
The last step is very likely to fix your internet connectivity problem.

Then you need to select the file size, 1kb, 50kb or 100kb depending on the speed you expect your internet to be. There are bigger file sizes too, but you may get that option when they notify that the size is too small for the speed of internet connection. Generally a 50kb selection is ideal, select that and it would proceed to the file download -

The speed might be higher usually when checked through the computer but the capacity of pulling the broadband weight in mobile is usually lesser.
The tool also displays the IP information, DNS agent, browser etc. information if prompted to do so.

Tata Docomo has already taken the big step to break the backbone of the already popular networks like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea with its killer call offers like 1 second for 6 seconds in local calls, and now Aircel follows the same.

Although the plans are not similar to that of Tata Docomo, they are good enough of pull the subscribers towards them. The only thing they have to set right is the availability of the network all around, as many regions are yet to receive the network installation and availability of the SIM cards.

Social Hazards

We seem to be taking one step back for every three steps forward.

Chandrayan has landed on the moon, yet we superstitiously declare a holiday for schools on the day of the solar eclipse to avoid children "being exposed to the evil effects of the eclipsed sun."

Some of the more cautious (and sensible?) newspapers termed it as a holiday to enable the children to watch the celestial phenomenon.

The woman who comes to clean my house left early because she has to be safely at home before the Moon glides in front of the Sun.

I wish we could really put the education that we get, into practice!

I am just curious.
How is that some of the artists who come to India, manage to stay back?
A case in point is, Adnan Saami.
Naturally, he is staying here legally, but how? Is he on work permit? How long is that applicable for?
Who has got him the work permit?
But is he not working independently?

Under which law has he been permitted to buy immovable property/ies in India?
Whatever little knowledge I have, those who are not Indian citizens, cannot buy immovable property in India.

Are such people entitled to get a PAN card?
What can happen if one such person decides to marry an Indian girl?
I am a fan of Saami, and curious.
A lot of performers are in India for years together.?

Foreign citizens can buy immovable property in India...They can also inherit...Sami, Katrina Kaif etc. re all here on work visas and they pay taxes...I have foreign friends living and working in India who have bought property too... the only reason I am asking this question is because Sami is a Canadian-Pakistani...What about all the foreigners working in the corporate sector?

I read in one of the news papers that RBI has hauled up Sami for having bought immovable property in India illegally.May beI am wrong---but you may like to check,not that it matters to you.
I thought,a work permit can be obtained for an employee--it doesn't seem so in this case.Perhaps,I was not right.
