In light of the new ADM that we are building, we invited a selection of our members to share their ideas for the future. Join us 8 september 2016 to learn everything about it!
We've been busy at ADM these past few months. ADM needs to be an organisation where people come to share their experiences and connect with other professionals to improve their own organisation.

Keeping our bottom-up approach in mind, we wanted to hear from our members what type of sessions and what topics will fit their needs. Over 30 enthousiasts gathered at Afspanning De Jachthoorn to share their vision for the future of ADM. We can modestly say that the session was a great success. Feel free to have a look at the pictures of the session below and feel their energy. After all the hard work, the participants got an extra treat . as they were invited to try out the new Virtual Reality gear, provided by B·U·T.

If you'd like to learn more; join us 8 september 2016 and be the first to meet the new ADM!

"Culture eats Strategy for breakfast" and "Structure eats Culture for dinner" were just a few of the many quotes used during our final event of the year. Those who were present at the session on Reinventing Work could concur that it was a great success.
A lot of smiling faces were spotted at San Marco Village during our final event of this ADM year. "Being fully present is the best guarantee for a bright future!" With that quote, our Program Manager, Kim Oostvogels (Möbius) kicked off the intensive session. Those who were expecting a casual session where they could sit down and just listen were in for a surprise. During his presentation Kim used a very practical and approach (e.g. roll-plays and other exercises) to guide our members through the different types of organisational structures.

After this very practical segment Kim cleared the way for our next speaker; Jan Laurijssen (SD Worx). During his presentation on the transformation of work, Jan told us more on how to proceed in a world with robotising jobs, demographic evolutions, individualisation of working relationships and where old business models get challenged by new kids on the block etc.

To round up the session, Koen Pellegrims (Flow Pilots) took to the stage to tell the fascinating story of his company. During this very honest and authentic presentation Koen shared the successes ànd the struggles that allowed Flow Pilots to grow from a small organisation consisting of three employees and no office to a strong company with 20 employees and an office space in the heart of Antwerp overlooking the city.

17 May 2016 will go down as one of the most "Thrilling" nights in ADM history. Tom Palmaerts joined us at Hôtel de la Poste (Tour & Taxis) to tell us more about his book ("Trilling") and share his view on our future(s).
A massive turnout – of almost four hundred people – gathered in Hôtel de la Poste on May 17th 2016, looking forward to seeing Ingrid Hoffman smile at us and the trendy Tom Palmaerts telling us all about the latest hypes and underground movements in technological innovation.

‘From thrill to trail’ was the topic of the evening. Chairman Jan De Schepper explained to us that ADM is both: people are, even after eighteen years, still thrilled to explore the trail of networking and continuous learning about their and others’ business. ‘Imperfection’ was a hot topic, yet people and food were more than perfect…

Sales & Marketing have to go hand in hand in order to create a good Content Marketing Strategy for your organisation! That is one of the key learnings that our members took back from our Infosession "Content Marketing: The next hype or shortest way to success?"
Our Program Manager and Twitter bird, Mic Adam, kicked off the session. Using Presenterswall he warmed up the participants to the subject of the session and prepared the stage for the next speakers.

Content Marketing is not a sprint!

First in line was Philippe Gosseye, Head of Marketing at EMC Western Europe, took the time to tell us a bit more about “The Extraverted Nerd”. In his book he explains that good content should be created for key people in your organization and that they should be the ones to spread it throughout their network. Important to remember is that a good content marketing strategy is spread out over a long period of time. It's a marathon, not a sprint!

Frederik De Schrijver was the second one to take the stage. He took us on a trip inside the world Xerius. During his presentation the Inbound sales & marketing manager to teach us how they have successfully invested in different techniques to improve their content marketing. In turn this affected how their marketing and sales division works (together) to make Xerius into the successful company it is today.

When Frank Van den Bossche took the helm at Quadrant Communications six years ago, he had an ambitious plan to help the company grow. And with great success! While content marketing was not the main focus/tool to help realize this growth it certainly helped to achieve its goals. In their bible “Lead generation met contentmarketing” (free download!) you can learn more about how that Marketing Strategy can help your organization grow!

Antwerp Management School (AMS) and ADM joined forces to organise a special event for its members. Jim Johnson (Standish Group) joined us at Wetenschapspark Universiteit Antwerpen for a special lecture on his "Money Pit" research.
To be able to sit in with a lecture by Jim Johnson is truly a rare opportunity. So, Frans Verstreken and Prof. Dr. Hans Mulder (Antwerp Management School) kept their introductions as brief as possible so they could quickly make way for the speaker that everyone wanted to see.

Jim Johnson, founder and chairman of the Standish Group, took the time to share the breakdown of the true cost of a project with us: the Money Pit research. This report reveals not only the budget cost but also the hidden costs such as business justification, executive meetings, development testing and education.

Finally, as an extra treat, Jim gave the participants an exclusive look at the current numbers from CHAOS, the most comprehensive database on the success and failure of IT projects, whilst giving the ADM and AMS members present the opportunity to ask any questions they might have on the matter.

If you'd like to learn more on the presentation by Jim Johnson, you can download it below (available for members only after login).

Creating a good customer experience is key to having a successful organisation! Our members gathered at the CM building in Mechelen to learn more on this topic with cases from Colruyt, Atlas Copco and CM.
In "Zaal Forum" our Programme Manager Joke Dehond (Inventive Designers) kicked off the session on Customer Journeys by giving a little bit more explanation on the how and what of this topic. Using her own experience on the matter and with the help of our online tool "Presenterswall" she prepared the participants for three cases.

First in line was a presentation by Jean Van Damme (Colruyt Group) and Jonas Deprez (Möbius). During their presentation "Disj: Putting the customer in the driver’s seat" they explained how "Disj" came into existence. In the development process Colruyt activerly used input from students in the creation of both the product and the customer journey. Now, Disj is no longer just a product for college students, but for a much larger target group as well.
If you'd like to learn more on this case, you can have a look at the presentation below (available for members only after login).

Dries Debecker (Atlas Copco) brought the second case. Atlas Copco has been around for over 140 years, but they are still trying to improve their customer experience. In his presentation "First in mind, first in choice" Dries explained that they looked at the planning process from the customer's point of view. In doing so, the organisation has been able to improve/optimize every step of the process and thus creating the best Customer Experience possible.
If you'd like to learn more on this case, you can have a look at the presentation below (available for members only after login).

Last but not least was Steve De Veirman (CM) who took the time to explain the ambitious project CM is currently developing. During his presentation "Closing the loop : from Contentmanagement to Customer Xperience" Steve guided us through the challenges they face while implementing this ambitious project. In improving their customer experience they try to implement the newest technologies to satisfy the needs of every client. One of the challenges in doing this is creating a system where both young ànd older clients can still keep up.
If you'd like to learn more on this case, you can have a look at the presentation below (available for members only after login).

Finally, Tine Peeters (Studio Dott.) was invited on stage to provide us with some Conclusions and Key Learnings on every case that was presented. If you'd like to learn more; the presentation she created during the session will soon be available for download below.

What is the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)? How does it influence my organisation and how should we prepare? Our members gathered at Clubhouse Aurelium in Kontich to answer these, and other questions together.
New: Our facilitators from the session have taken the time to write down the conclusions from the session. You can download this document below.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has been in the works for several years now.
During the discussion rounds our members were given the opportunity to ask all their questions concerning the new Privacy Regulation. We invited experts to moderate these discussions in smaller groups and based on specific topics from the GDPR:

Privacy by Design - Privacy Impact Assessment – Peter Berghmans (Thomas More Hogeschool)

Data Breach Notification – Tine Carmeliet (Allen & Overy)

The stylish Bozar in Brussels was the scene for the yearly “She goes ICT” event organised by DataNews. As women are still heavily underrated in the ICT world, DataNews wants to put women in the spotlight who can be a roll model for other young girls to choose for a career in ICT.
Ursula Dongmo, Supervisor/Process Manager at ING was elected ICT Young Lady of the year. All 5 finalists who presented themselves to the jury were extremely talented young ladies who all deserved to win. Ursula’s self-assurance however made the difference. And she clearly showed this characteristic during the ceremony by stating that her next goal was to become ICT Woman of the year.

Annemie Depuydt, Directeur ICTS at the KU Leuven, was awarded the trophy of ICT Woman of the Year. From her thank you speech, we take back two messages that are so typical for the person she is (apart from being a great ICT professional):

IT is a people business: in order to success you need all types of people collaborating with each other

And especially to the young women: grab your chances, do not question yourself, just go for it. (and for IT).

If you’d like to read the whole speech by Annemie you can find it below. Interview with both ladies can be found in the print version of DataNews of 5 Feburary 2016.

Congratulations to these two women with a heart for IT! We look forward to seeing them (and other finalists) during the coming ADM events.

Inspiration speech by Annemie Depuydt, receiving the “ICT Woman of the Year Award” by DataNews.

As I looked back and asked myself “who should I be thanking” I suddenly realised that I’m a very lucky woman and I took it all for granted for so long.
So it’s time to say “thanks”.

Thanks to my mother who treated me just the same as her two sons, my brothers. She left school at fourteen but she had better plans for her daughter and was very proud when I decided to study computer sciences and she never questioned my choice. Lucky me!

Thanks to the university who decided it was about time to incorporate computer sciences into their program, just in time for me to attend. There were ten girls and hundred boys. I even found the perfect boyfriend there. Lucky me!

Thanks to my husband who has been a “real equal” partner all this time. We have three children together. And when I asked them how they felt about having a mother with a busy management job, they said “You’re so lucky to have us? We are very, very flexible kids.” And my youngest son added “I don’t’ understand all this gender buzz. I never experienced a real difference in our house. Gender equality feels natural to us.” Lucky me!

Thanks to all the male bosses I had and still have for asking me all these right questions; “Isn’t it time for you to lead a project?”, “Would you be prepared to do the program management for this?”, “Will you become the next IT director”, … Lucky me!

Thanks to all the wonderful people working together with me at the KU Leuven IT department. Many of them are men (70%). I’m very very proud of them. Their achievements certainly have contributed a great deal in me standing here right now. IT is a people business! It’s about technology of course but you need all these creative, social, logical, technical and sometimes slightly nerdy people to make IT work. Lucky me!

But I want to conclude with a message to all the young women in the audience. I recently saw a video of Sheryl Sandberg giving advice to young women and the first advice she gave was “Sit at the table”. And then I realised that perhaps there was another person to be thanked, just to make the list complete and that person was oddly enough “myself”, my lucky me.

For me a lot of the necessary boxes checked

Inspiring parents

Good IT education

A real equal partner

Bosses who didn’t install galls ceilings

And last but not least a great team to work with

But on top of all that … you have to put yourself at the table and choose the right table for you to sit at. And then say “yes” to the opportunities as they come along.
Don’t say “yes …but…”? Don’t say “Let me think about it”. Don’t say “perhaps Bill is better for the job”. Don’t say “the timing isn’t right for me”.
But simply say “YES”.

Women can make their own choices in their lives and there’s no such thing as a wrong choice. But... If it’s your choice to become an IT leader then go for it, put yourself at the right table and grab the opportunities as they come along.

Say “YES”. Men do…

Thanks to Datanews for organising this event, thanks to the voters for voting and thanks to the jury for making this final decision to grant me the award.

Lucky me!
Thank you all.

Unlocking creativeness while having fun at the same time! Our members gathered at the idyllic San Marco Village to experience the power of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® first hand.
Those that were expecting a session where everyone had to actively participate were not left wanting. After a short introduction/setting the scene by Ingrid Hoffman and Christian Tijsmans our members were quickly put to the test.

At the beginning of the session the participants were divided into small groups. 5 LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitators (Michel Cloosterman, Marc Sonnaert, Jan Peeters, Mark Vandael & Christian Tijsmans) gave each team a set of Lego blocks which they had to use to complete various challenges. Every assignment, ranging from building the largest tower to designing the perfect ADM event, illustrated the power of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®: a facilitated thinking, communication and problem solving technique for organizations, teams and individuals.

In the final exercise, everyone was asked to think about the future of ADM. First everyone completed the exercise individually but afterwards each group had to put their ideas and dreams for the future ADM together in one collective design. If you'd like to see a few of these designs, feel free to take a look at the pictures that were taken during the session below.

Our social media manager, Mic Adam, has gathered your tweets and pictures as well in a Storify which you can take a look at below.

To round up the session, Christian Tijsmans took the time to give a short presentation about how LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® came into existence and what it's all about. If you'd like to learn more, feel free to visit the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® website or take a look at the document and presentation by Christian below.
Afspanning De Jachthoorn opened its doors for us once again this month. In "Zaal De Schuur" we welcomed over 50 participants for our info session on Cyber Threats and those present were not left wanting!
As usual our Program Manager, Peter Berghmans, kicked off the session by setting the scene and warming up the crowd using our online tool, Presenterswall. Three main topics were used as cornerstones:

How do you prepare for these incidents and help your entire organisation to be prepared for cyberattacks?

How do you detect Cyber threats or help others to detect them?

How do you react in case of an attack or how do you help your colleagues to react correctly?

During the second part of our session we invited 7 experts in the three topics of our session. During three intense World Café sessions Marc Vael (Isaca), Wim Bartsoen (BNP Paribas Fortis), Steven Goossens (Proximus), Tim Groenwals (NMBS), Peter Beerten (Securelink), Rutger Schenk (Hewlett Packard Enterprise) and Luc Beirens helped our participants to share their thoughts and learn more on every topic.
Afterwards the experts presented their conclusions gathered from the discussions.

Rounding up our session, Wim Bartsoen took to the stage one last time to tell us a bit more on the Cyber Security Coalition. If you'd like to learn more about his presentation you can download it below. During the session Wim gave us a copy of the Cyber Security Incident Management Guide. If you haven't had the chance to take home your copy, you can find it here.
