Typos are a great way to get additional search engine traffic for your keyword(s). We’re all only human and we make mistakes. And we do them when we search on google, yahoo or other search engines. And we can use this knowledge when we make a website.
For example: We’re selling “BirthdayFlowers”. It’s quite easy to make a mistake here, for example leave out a letter, double the letter, skip a space etc. And now you get a wider range of search keywords for your original one:

Skip a letter:
irthday Flowers
Brthday Flowers
Bithday Flowers
Birhday Flowers

Double letters:
BBirthday Flowers
Biirthday Flowers
Birrthday Flowers
Birtthday Flowers

Skip spaces:
BirthdayFlowers
etc.

How can you use this in your advantage? Quite simple. Make additional pages to your original one, but use the typos on these new pages. Use them in your title, description and in your body text and in your alt tags (images).
And now people who will mistype BirthdayFlowers with Birtthday Flowers will get to your website! And the good nows is that you’ll probably rank high in the search results, because there is not such a competition with the mistyped keywords as it is with the original ones.

Make Your WordPress Blog Search Engine Friendly

The video is by Michael Gray from GrayWolf’s SEO blog explaining on how to optimize a WordPress blog to make it more Search Engine friendly.

Some things you can learn from this video are to put a post in only one category to prevent content duplication (Google and other search engines penalize sites that have duplicated content), make use of the ‘more’ feature to prevent content duplication in homepage, single post page, category pages, etc and use a robots.txt file.

To prevent duplicated content in category pages, tag pages, yearly archives or monthly archives make sure your theme uses post excerpts there. Also create a robots.txt file to tell search engine bots which pages on your web site should be crawled and indexed.

On May 2007, this blog had 159,304 unique visitors and 252,305 pageviews according to Google Analytics.

What about this blog’s earnings? Through my highest earner, AdSense, I earned $1,218.75. Close to what John Chow earned through AdSense - $1,246.50

The Power Of Anchor Text

The keywords in the anchor text of incoming links to a site is one of the most important factors for ranking well for the keywords you target. Knowing this well, John Chow got his blog to the the number one position for the keywords ‘make money online’ by offering a free link back to the sites that review his blog and link to his blog homepage with the anchor text ‘make money online’.

However he is making a mistake by getting people to link his blog with only an anchor text of ‘make money online’. If too many sites link his blog with the same anchor text, Google will be able to find out that these are artificial links and may soon kick his blog out from the first page of the search result itself. Infact this happened recently.

To last longer for the keywords you target, get sites to link you with a variation of the keywords in the anchor text. Having a variety in the anchor text of your incoming links is a signal that those links are natural.

Example: If you are trying to get your site to rank well for the keywords ‘make money online’, try to get sites to link you (or buy links) with a variety in the anchor text like ‘make money online surfing’ and ‘ways to make money online’.

This way Google may not figure out easily that you are artificially trying to rank for some keywords and you will last longer once you are successful in getting to a good position for the keywords.

Or you could try to make some good post on making money online, like a guide, and then Digg it. If your post gets to the frontpage, you will get thousands of incoming links to your post and pretty soon you may get to a high position for the keywords you are targeting.

Usually a blogger uses a service like Text Link Ads to sell links on their blog, but the problem of using these services is that they take a cut. Doing a private link sale can benefit you more as you get to set your own price and nobody takes a cut.

Before trying to do a direct ad sale make your your blog has good traffic, Google Page Rank and Alexa Rank.
