Ben & Jerry's: Supports Gay Marriage with "Apple-y Ever After"

In case you haven't heard, Ben & Jerry's Oh My! Apple Pie! ice cream is being renamed to "Apple-y Ever After" in the UK to support same-sex marriage. The packaging has also been given some updating, with two grooms on top of a wedding cake. This isn't the first time Ben & Jerry's has done this. Vermont celebrated same-sex marriage and the ice-cream kings renamed their Chubby Hubby flavour to "Hubby Hubby." Old Navy: Blossom and Joey reunite for "Bee Bots" commercial

Here's a blast from the past. Mayim Bialik and Joey Lawrence have reunited for this Old Navy spot to promote the company's new "Bee Bots" line . For those of you who don't know, both actors played on the hit sitcom "Blossom" in the early '90s. And for those of you who do, you'll notice "Blossom" is wearing one of her signature floral hats and Joey is still rockin' the old catch-phrase, "Whoa!"

Once again, adidas goes A-list for their new "We All Run" campaign and for the unveiling of the new ClimaCool Seduction running shoe.

The spot, directed by Jones + Tino, features FIFA world player of the year, Lionel Messi, footballer and underwear model, David Beckahm, NBA superstar, Derrick Rose, and Katy Perry. Yes, a bit odd that Katy has been thrown into the mix, but then again, adidas reminds us that we all run for different reasons - there are no boundaries. The spot also features "Part of Me" (Jaques Lu Cont's Thin White Duke remix) by Katy Perry.

Celebrity Apprentice: Crystal Light

I watched an episode of "Celebrity Apprentice" last Sunday -- yes, I'm guilty of watching reality TV. As usual, the women's team, led by PM, Aubrey O'Day (yes, I'm still trying to figure out her relevance) worked "together" with their usual mix of backstabbery and manipulation (would you expect anything less from a group of egotistical sociopaths?). And, the men's team (definitely less dramatic), led by Clay Aiken, worked their derrières to victory. Regardless, both teams managed to pull off the ultimate event for "Crystal Light."

The highlight of the night and the main reason for this post is a little something that ~~Debbie~~, ~~Deborah~~ Gibson created with her natural talents. Here is her original jingle for "Crystal Light."

Belvedere Vodka Rape Ad Controversy

What were they thinking when they conjured up this little ~~jewel~~? This creepy and irresponsible ad was posted on Facebook and Twitter last Friday, but has since been taken down following an onslaught of attacks via various social media websites. Since then, the company has made a public apology and a donation to the Rape Abuse & Incest National Network (a nonprofit anti-sexual violence group). A prepared statement from Belvedere president, Charles Gibb was posted on Facebook last Saturday, claiming, "It should never have happened. I am currently investigating the matter to determine how this happened and to be sure it never does so again. The content is contrary to our values and we deeply regret this lapse."

Why am I not surprised that advertisers will do just about anything to get some free advertising and publicity. I'm all for thinking outside the box, but this just screams desperation. Lose the ~~creatives~~ on this one.

PUMA: After Hours Athlete Campaign "Better Out Than In"

Droga5 recently added more creative to its Puma Social campaign. This 90 second film, entitled "Better Out Than In," directed by Fredrik Bond of MJZ, reminds us to get off our couches and live life. The theme is quite fitting for the times we live in as many of us consume more hours of "trash" TV, than anything else. Instead of sitting back and contributing to the Snooki fund, Droga5 and Puma want you to "live reality" and "live life."

It's been a while since my last post -- traveling, working, blah, blah. Anyway, it seemed fitting that I post today. After a LONG hiatus, Mad Men will finally grace our screens this eve. Here are a few teasers that have been circulating the web; reinforcing all of that Mad Men goodness we've come to appreciate -- style, debauchery, deception, romance, and jealousy. But, don't get too excited -- amc isn't releasing much of anything, so make sure to tune in to get your Draper fix.

Valentine Postcard: Spread the Love

If you haven't done so already, I suggest you do it soon -- buy/make something special for your loved one! Personally, Valentine's Day isn't that big a deal...really. I don't expect diamonds or a new Louis Vuitton bag, but I do appreciate being appreciated. After all, it is the second most popular day for card giving next to Christmas (really?).

According to the LA Times,"Men will shell out an average of $168.74 on clothing, jewelry and other gifts this Valentine's Day, a survey by the National Retail Federation indicates. That's nearly double the amount that women will spend. It works out to a gender-neutral average of $126.03 per person – up 8.5% from last year and the highest amount in the 10 years of the survey. That includes $4.52 per person on presents for pets. Overall, V-Day celebrants are expected to spend $17.6 billion."

So, if it hasn't sunk in yet, take the advice of this wise woman -- "Valentine's Day is not that complicated. Give and you shall receive."

Budweiser Canada: Flash Fans Hockey Ad

Apologies. I'm late, but nevertheless, I'm giving credit, where credit is due. Budweiser Canada teamed up with Anomoly, Budweiser's global brand agency, and produced a spot for the Canadian market. Audiences in Canada watched this inspirational spot unravel two weeks ago during the Super Bowl. The ad quickly generated buzz in the US via YouTube gaining approximately 500,000 hits in the first 24 hours.

It features two recreational hockey teams from Port Credit -- the Amigos and the Generals -- skating in an empty arena. Then, a surprise mob (hundreds of fans) rush the stands as the announcers begin a play-by-play of the game. A quiet night out has suddenly transformed into a high-energy spectacle.

This ad is spontaneous, creative, and fun, plus it evokes emotion -- it makes sense. If you're Canadian, you'll definitely get it, and if you're not, you'll still love it.

Here's a close look at the making of "Flash Fans."

As I read through the YouTube comments for "Flash Fans," I noticed several angry posts -- all claiming that commercial is a rip off of Rémi Gaillard's (French humorist) old prank (see below). And, while it may look similar to a few, it doesn't have the same overall effect -- sorry folks -- complain all you like.

James Franco: Seven For All Mankind Jeans Campaign

Is there anything this man won't do? James Franco is California Dreamin' in one of his latest projects. The actor/PhD student/artist/spokesperson/photographer/soap star/producer/director, is an official ad man. The print ads for Seven for All Mankind jeans have finally surfaced and are making their rounds online. His video vignettes (a series of 10) will be released weekly on Seven For All Man Kind's YouTube channel beginning February 15th.

James and creative agency Lipman joined forces to create this new campaign that was shot over three days in December and includes young ~~stars,~~ model Lily Donaldson, Henry Hopper (son of late Dennis Hopper) and Nathalie Love.

According to Franco, "The videos have a vintage feel to them. They feel like they are from a different era, which I think really fits with the new line that Seven had in the shoot -- a lot of cool denim tops and jeans. "We shot right on the beach and drove up the Pacific Coast Highway, so I guess you could say it's a vintage 1970's California dreamy feel."

David Beckham Embarrassed of H&M Bodywear Commercial

"I love underwear. I love wearing it." Although he loves his product, David Beckham was a bit bashful during H&M's airing of David Beckham Bodywear last Sunday.

"I'm very shy. When we were watching the Super Bowl yesterday in a room of about 20 people and it came on, I actually didn't know where to look," Beckham told Ryan Seacrest of his H&M Bodywear spot. "It was kind of embarrassing," he added. David concluded that it was easier to shoot the spot than watch it. "Shooting it, there wasn't too many people in the room so it was pretty easy," he explained.

Thankfully for us (and most of you, I'm sure) it was sheer pleasure and fulfillment.

Kia goes all out with this one. In this game day commercial, our hero dreams big and fast. While mistakenly overdosed with some "dream dust," he enters a world that is filled with celebrities, a supermodel, giant-sized sandwiches, a bucking rhino, and more -- all while driving a new 2012 Kia Optima.

On a side note, Adriana Lima who makes an appearance in this spot also appears in the new ad for Teleflora. And, from what I've read, I can understand why. According to AdAge, when Adriana Lima appeared in the 2008 Victoria Secrets "Angel" spot, the clothing line got their money's worth, and more.

"That ad, featuring the lingerie-clad Lima seductively playing with a football, became the most-seen ad in the game, Nielsen reported, with a record 103.7 million viewers at the time -- not counting online views of the commercial."

Audi S7: Vampire Party

The 2013 Audi S7 isn't just a great looking car -- it's also a vampire slayer. That's right, just when you thought you'd seen enough, Audi brings us more vampires. In this spot, Audi's powerful LED headlights (lethal killers) are on display.

Also familiar is the track "Killing Moon" by Echo and The Bunnymen, which has been featured in films such as Grosse Pointe Blank and Donnie Darko.

Volkswagen: The Dog Strikes Back Super Bowl Commercial

Here is the extended version of the new Volkswagen Beetle Super Bowl ad, with the tagline, "Back and better than ever." Not what I expected after watching the teaser, but nonetheless, pleasantly surprised. Absolutely adorable, creative, and on mark. While Volkswagen's teaser hinted toward yet another Star Wars-themed spot, this ad isn't really that -- although, special guests do make an appearance at the end. Now, who do you think was funnier, the Darth Vader kid or the dog? Love it!

Dannon Oikos Super Bowl Commercial Featuring John Stamos

Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt is possibly one of the best in the world -- according to John Stamos. In this Super Bowl spot, the Greek-God teases his lady friend until she can no longer take it. Big mistake! Surprisingly, according to the Associated Press, Dannon will become the first yogurt company to advertise during the Super Bowl. Well, if it's that good, why the hell not!

Is it me or is John Stamos looking better with age? Must be all that Oikos.
