There is a new note on service marketplace that affects users of SAPgui 6.40 and 7.10 patch level 5. If you are a customer check with your project manager as we are probably already working to get you updated to the latest release. For others a good reason to jump to the latest release. I wouldn’t panic as most companies are behind a firewall but more important to share so administrators are aware of these things, of course we encourage you to update to the latest release of SAPgui if possible.

What a week, well the week started off with a bang , everyone wondering what was going to happen with the conficker virus. With so many computers out there that are infected and just waiting to call home, many people were nervous. Thankfully nothing of note occured and the day passed without any known incident. Then starting on Wed it appears that register.com started to suffer a DDOS attack that left many including our website offline for long periods of time through the day.

I fielded several questions over the last couple of weeks related to differences between the various mobile options that SAP has available for SCM, more specifically this is related to the offerings for a typical distribution center/shop floor.
SAP for a long time has offered SAPConsole which is a Gui to character based translator, for most companies this is the optimal tool for use in a distribution center or manufacturing plant, it is character based and has a pretty fast response time which is critical on a shop floor. In addition ...

Last week SAP announced an agreement with Sybase that will allow SAP to run on a iPhone or blackberry. My gut tells me that this is a non-event as SAP already had several options to address the devices mentioned, albeit the announcement seemed to focus attention on the iPhone.

Well I sat down with my handy SAP Master guide for Netweaver and also the technical infrastructure guide. It's always good to get the most recent copy as the details gets better in each new version of the updated document, the last time we planned our infrastructure we were looking at June 2006 document but there is now an updated one for July 2007, it has more detail that is helpful.

Probably not a typical post but just want to get the word out since this maybe important to SAPgui users. Last year an exploit was found with SAPgui that allows a A exploit security hole has been found in SAPgui version before 7.10 patch 12.
If you are running any version prior to this you can access more information about the exploit at these links :

I came across a question that I had to investigate for a client’s upgrade to the latest SAPgui level. In previous version of SAPgui you may have noticed when installing SAPgui that one of the options was SAP Outlook integration, did you ever wonder what it was? Interestingly enough until recently I had not dealt with anyone using it except other consultants such as myself.
the SAP MAPI component was a neat little tool that allowed you to synchronize your SAP inbox to MS outlook and also synchronize your calendar. Of course ...
