New Proposed Law by Governor Cuomo Will Make Using Any Electronic Device While Driving Illegal

Most states, including New York, have laws requiring a hands-free device be used while talking on the phone while driving. Following the hands-free laws, many states, for good reason, have adopted laws that also ban texting while driving (citing studies showing that texting while driving is the equivalent of driving while under some kind of impairment). The use of electronics by drivers have led to many motor vehicle accidents and the State of New York now wants to go a step further to prevent them with the new law.

I have been wronged and I am ready to take action. Where do I begin?

As many New Yorkers may recall, almost four years ago on November 25, 2006, undercover New York City cops shot at three men in their vehicle outside of a strip club in Queens, killing Sean Bell just hours before his wedding, and injuring Joseph Guzman and Trent Benefield. The cops were under the impression that someone inside Bell’s car had a gun and that Bell was trying to run them over. The police fired around 50 rounds at the car, but none of the men inside the vehicle actually had a gun.
