No to SOPA! Yes to Freedom!

News on SOPA: I guess most of you are aware already of what have just happened: FBI closed Megaupload and arrested 7 of their owners, even without SOPA at all. The war has just begun.

I am an artist, and author. I live thanks to the internet. I, as much others, use Creative Commons Licenses to display and SHARE our work all over the web… all over the world. We want, we want, and we hope for a free culture, we, the authors. And still, even if delivering our creations for free to the people, we can still make profit for that and make a living.

Who the F*ck doesn’t use servers, P2P or anything of the like nowadays? From a CD album, the artist himself is only profitting from the 5% or even less! We have to finish with the intermediaries… they are the real cancer, not us, the users! The culture is for the users, for the people! And we are the people.

A estas alturas, ya lo sabéis: EL FBI, sin SOPA ni leches, ha cerrado Megaupload y detenido a 7 de sus “dirigentes”.
Yo soy autor, artista, y estoy en contra de la SOPA o de cualquier de sus derivadas o similares. Yo, como muchos otros artistas de mi gremio, ofrezco mi trabajo para su difusión gratuita a través de la red, para que la gente lo pueda disfrutar, a través de Licencias Creative Commons y aún así…¡Soy capaz de sacar beneficio de ello, y puedo vivir de lo que me gusta hacer! ¡Queremos una cultura libre! O si no… ¿quién narices no usa servidores, P2P o el JDownloader actualmente? ¡Venga ya! Pero si un músico se lleva menos del 5% de su disco… el verdadero y único cáncer de la industrua cultural, son los intermediarios y eso incluye a las malditas multinacionales. La cultura es para los usuarios, ¡para el pueblo!

Isa, the Fairy

Fairy photomanipulation commission for a couple anniversary.

My mate Michel asked me few weeks ago if it would be possible for me to create a fantasy – like photomanipulation. An illustration scene with a fairy using her girlfriend’s face as an anniversary gift. Was it possible? Of course, even if I have never tried to do real fantasy-like stuff. Although some people keep on saying I am a fantasy artist, I never considered myself as one. So you can say this was my first attempt! It seems that the gift was a complete success and I’m specialy happy for that! Congrats guys!

My colega Michel me preguntó hace unas semanas si sería posible crear una escena de fantasía con un hada que llevase la cara de su novia, como regalo para su aniversario como pareja. ¿Fue posible? Ya lo creo, y eso que nunca había probado a hacer imaginería fantástica (aunque algunos sigáis pensando que soy un autor de fantasía… no me considero como tal, aunque cada uno, que piense lo que quiera )… así que podríamos decir que éste ha sido mi primer intento, y creo que no ha quedado muy mal. Lo que me hace especialmente feliz es que el regalo ha sido todo un éxito. ¡Felicidades pareja!

Free Photomanipulation Photoshop Tutorial

So as promised, new photomanipulation Photoshop tutorial up and kicking! And this time it is completely free, so all of you can take a look and discover some tips about my working methods. Some photomanipulation techniques taught such as blending, masking, lighting and coloring. You will learn how to create a realistic composition. This Photoshop tutorial is about 50 steps long. It is easy to follow, and most taught techniques can be applied to pretty much all photomanipulations. More to come real soon!

Está en inglés pero a la mínima que sepáis y con las imágenes está todo mascadito. Algunas técnicas que encontraréis: integración de elementos, iluminación grupal, color, recorte. Hello all! I’ve been a bit absent from the site, but it’s been for a good reason: lots of freelance work. Nowadays I am also writting Photoshop tutorials for PSDTuts+, so now you all can discover my working methods and some of my post-production secrets.

By now, this is the first released Photoshop tutorial but there are more to come really soon. This one is a Premium Photoshop tutorial, which means that you have to be a Tuts+ member to read the full Tut. It’s around 60 steps long. You will find how to mask models and other items. Also, some colouring, as well as lighting techniques are explained, step by step. This is an advanced Photoshop tutorial user, but I bet you can apply to your own creation most of its content. You will learn how to create a planet using only textures and layer styles. Some painting – over lighting techniques are explained, as well as shadow perspective and projection. Obviously, lots of blending here, so be prepared! This Photoshop tutorial is extremely detailed, so don’t miss it. It also was selected as one of the Best Photoshop Tutorials of 2011 by the very Envato Network.

In the near future free tutorials will be published as well, but due to the amount of information this one has it’s actually a paying one (but worth it!).

15M Symposyum Ad

Otro cartel que he realizado para el Movimiento 15M de Murcia. Esta vez, para unas Jornadas que se van a realizar tras el impresionante éxito de la manifestación del 15 de Octubre. Además, el logo que aparece en la imagen también ha sido creado por mi. Será a partir de ahora, el logotipo oficial del movimiento 15M .

Esta semana, será una semana de jornadas de puertas abiertas en plazas públicas de la ciudad. En ellas se realizarán charlas, conferencias, debates, exposiciones, performances, y de todo un poco, para darle más fuerza al movimiento. La índole de la smismas, sobra decir que versará sobre: economía, política, sociedad y demás.

Si eres de Murcia… ¿a qué esperas? ¡Nos vemos en la plaza de Santo Domingo! EL Movimiento 15M somos todxs.

I was commissioned again to create a new ad for the 15M movement, this time for a Symposyum that will be celebrated in Murcia, after the big success of the October 15h demonstration.

This time, we are doing conferences, forums, exhibitions, performances and a lot of stuff in public squares of our city to give more strenght to the movement.

Also, the logo in the ad was created by me, and will be used as the official logo of the movement from now on

The ruling powers work for the benefit of just a few, ignoring the will of the vast majority and the human and environmental price we all have to pay. This intolerable situation must end.
United in one voice, we will let politicians, and the financial elites they serve, know it is up to us the people to decide our future. We are not goods in the hands of politicians and bankers who do not represent us.On 15O, we will meet on the streets to initiate the global change we want. We will peacefully demonstrate, talk and organize until we make it happen.

It’s time for us to unite. It’s time for them to listen.

15 de octubre – Unidos por un cambio global

El 15 de octubre (15O) personas de todo el mundo tomarán las calles y las plazas. Desde América a Asia, desde África a Europa, la gente se está levantando para reclamar sus derechos y pedir una auténtica democracia. Ahora ha llegado el momento de unirnos todos en una protesta no violenta a escala global.

Los poderes establecidos actúan en beneficio de unos pocos, desoyendo la voluntad de la gran mayoría, sin importarles los costes humanos o ecológicos que tengamos que pagar. Hay que poner fin a esta intolerable situación.
Unidos en una sola voz, haremos saber a los políticos, y a las élites financieras a las que sirven, que ahora somos nosotros, la gente, quienes decidiremos nuestro futuro. No somos mercancía en manos de políticos y banqueros que no nos representan.
El 15O nos encontraremos en las calles para poner en marcha el cambio global que queremos. Nos manifestaremos pacíficamente, debatiremos y nos organizaremos hasta lograrlo.
Es hora de que nos unamos. Es hora de que nos escuchen.
¡Tomemos las calles del mundo el 15O!

Illustration: Summer is over…

Illustration: let’s talk about it, again Well, summer is over, at least here in Spain, for more than a week now. It’s been a very strange “vacation” time, since I’ve been home all this period (and I’m still in it…). Working a lot in a ton of projects (most of them for non gubernamental organizations) and feeling lonely all this way down.
Anyway… I did a sort of “I’m – bored – illustration” during that period… Hope you like it!

ES: Bueno, el verano se acaba, al menos por estos lares. Ha sido una época rara, sin duda, pues no he salido de mi ciudad (y aún sigo aquí, conste), haciendo miles de trabajos principalmente para organizaciones no gubernamentales y sintiéndome un poco tristón, pero bueno, hice esta ilustración cuando me moría del aburrimiento, hace unos meses… espero que os guste.
