Who Says Classical Music Can't Make You Smile?

Most people have an image in their mind of Classical and Classical-Crossover music being a snobbish, elitist style of music that cannot be enjoyed by the masses.

We touched on that with our last blog, with Katherine Jenkins proving this wrong. The Copenhagen Symphony in Denmark recently challenged the theory by an impromptu performance of Edvard Grieg's "Peer Gynt" in, of all places, the Copenhagen Metro subway system.

Performed as a publicity event with Denmark's Radio Klassisk, a surprised group of commuters soon find themselves all smiles.

BTW, in AFTER DAYBREAK news, the extended international edition of our "What A Wonderful World" album will be released in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Macau & the offshore Chinese market in 2 weeks!

Dancing With The Stars, Katherine Jenkins and Classical Music

This coming Monday is the start of Classical Week on this Season's "Dancing With The Stars" on ABC.

We think it's great that Classical & Classical-Crossover music are given the chance to be so prominently featured on prime-time television here in the USA, where the genres are perhaps not as appreciated as in Europe, Asia and other parts of the world.

We say Classical-Crossover, because, not only is it our own genre, but also the genre of DWTS contestant Katherine Jenkins, who has gracefully brought Classical and Classical-Crossover music to the masses here in America, especially through her involvement in "Dancing With The Stars" and her dedication to promoting the genre in the media throughout the season.

Not only has she danced wonderfully (along with her dance partner Mark Ballas...who we must also give kudos to for himself being a great musician, singer and music artist), but she has presented herself with style, grace and sophistication...much like the genre itself. We will continue to root for Katherine Jenkins as this season of DWTS progresses.

Katherine...you have represented our genre well, and if we can represent it with just a fraction of the class that you have, we will feel good about our small part in this sector of the music industry.

And kudos also to ABC and senior producer Deena Katz for showcasing Katherine and her wonderful talents, and helping shine a spotlight on Classical & Classical Crossover music.

This song was a lot of fun to perform."
