For me 'Death on the nile', because it has got a chilling suspense and a brilliant method which can guessed by only one person in the world,HERCULE POIROT.

I hope you guys agree with me.

How many case u guessed right? - How many case u guessed right? ("Discuss Poirot" topic in the "Have Your Say" forum)

We all know how difficult Poirot's cases are so I think it is very interesting to know how many cases that readers actually guessed the murderer (or the method of murder) right so please share your experience here. At the same time please keep it spoiler-free because we might be discussing many titles and I don't wish to spoil anyone who has not read the case yet. (If there are 2 or more murderers please don't mention that you guessed it "half right" if you had, and please don't use "he" or "she" to describe the killer. Also please refrain from any other ways of hinting the crucialing spoilers)

Here is my list:

1. Mysterious Affair At Styles - Wrong.2. Murder of Roger Acroyd - Wrong. (-_-" I bet many will get it wrong here)3. Lord Edgware Dies - Right!!! Actually, by instinct and just pure guess. I have no idea how the killer did it, lol.4. Murder on the Orient Express - Wrong (-_-" Again, will anyone guess this one right I wonder)5. Death in the Clouds - Right! And I got most (maybe 75%) of the facts and methods right too. I'm proud about this one.6. The ABC Murders - Wrong.7. Cards on the Table - Wrong. (-_-" So little suspects and yet still wrong)8. Death on the Nile - Right! =D It was more obvious than a lot of people think, you just have to think deeply into it. My other 2 friends who have read got it right too.9. Appointment with Death - Wrong. This was also a difficult one =\.10. Hercule Poirot's Christmas - Wrong. And I was very surprised who the killer was too.11. Sad Cypress - Wrong.12. Evil under the Sun - Wrong.13. Five Little Pigs - Wrong. =(Conclusion: I have read 13 books and out of those books I only guessed the murderer right in 3 titles. That's 23%. 1 by just guessing (Lord Edgware Dies), and other 2 I pretty much got most of the things covered (Death in the Clouds and Death on the nile). I wonder if Poirot is too ingenius or am I too dumb >.<"?You are welcome to share your experiences :).

Christie Coppers - Christie Coppers ("Puzzles and Games" topic in the "Have Your Say" forum)

Hi all! There seem to be a good many police officers in Agatha Christie's novels (sometimes recurring characters). So for this little game, try to guess which of those police officers is being described...

An example would be "I am a distinguished man, a good friend of M. Hercule Poirot. I live in Woodleigh Common with my sister, Elspeth. Who am I?" The answer to is would be "Superintendent Spence, who appeared in 'Hallowe'en Party' and 'Mrs McGinty's Dead'"

Here's the first one. "I have an unimaginative appearance, but in reality I am a very imaginative man. Who am I?"

Guess That Quote - Guess That Quote ("Puzzles and Games" topic in the "Have Your Say" forum)

I had an idea just the other day for a new game..inspirired by Christie week. But I figured that there are 2 ways you could play this game and I want to see which version everyone would prefer to play:

First idea: What if someone watches an AC adaptation, that person would say which detective it starred and then we would have to guess at something interesting that they saw in that adaptation; it could be something like an actor who played a small role in another AC adapt, or how Poirot was wearing a black suit in this scene when in the last scene he was wearing a blue suit.

For example I would say this: There was a lamp asscued in the background of this Poirot adapt.

And then we would have to watch Poirot adaptations and hunt or guess (if you don't feel like watching it) as to which adapt it was.

Second idea: We would describe a scene in a Poirot adaptation and everyone would have to guess as to which adapt it came from. This one is less complicated than my first idea but also less intriguing.

Here's an example:

This character wore a silk pink dress and a fur stole when she spoke to Poirot and Hastings.

Now it's just up for everyone to decide which version they like better.

Thesegames that I have described are different from Guess that Story in that that game has you guess the story from a character's narrative perspective. Guess that Adaptation focus is to describe a scene w/o giving the plot away.

Guess The Story - Guess The Story ("Puzzles and Games" topic in the "Have Your Say" forum)

Having read the Radio Times descriptions of Poirot episodes and struggled to guess which story they are based on I thought we could have game, similiar to Guess The Character.

The rules are simply to describe a story, novel or play from the prospective of a character (not the murderer, victim or detective) and whoever gets it goes next.

A simple starter to get us going is:

"It seems strange to see all these people together again but the thank Heavens my husband loves me enough to protect me! My grief has been so intense but now we can all move on, if this strange little man will allow it."

AC quiz! - AC quiz!

I am absolutely in love with an outfit worn by the character of Miss Buckley (Polly Walker) in the ITV adaption of Poirot 'Peril at Endhouse'.

It is worn as she steps off a boat and gets into her car. It's a beautiful white and red trouser suit with a waistcoat style top with a bikini back and wide leg white trousers. Poirot helps her into a white and red jacket.

I absolutely adore it and I just wondered if anyone knew the correct terms for the style or type of outfit as I would love to be able to find something similar. I may have to resort to freeze framing it and making it myself, but I'd much rather have some one else do it and I need to know how to describe it properly.

If anyone has any ideas or knowledge about this particular outfit or even the exact period it is from I would really appreciate it.

I finished the book today and I really enjoyed it, I ncan't understand why people say it is the weakest of the Tommy and Tuppence books (For me 'BY THE PRICKING OF MY THUMB is the weakest book), I don't usually like books which mention previous books in a series buit I didn't mind in this case as it seemed apt, I got confused in the occassional part but I put that down to tiredness, On another website someone complained that \Tommy and Tuppence were always mentioning that they were old but that was because THEY WERE OLD and to some extent they were reminiscing about the olfd times, Whemn I finish all the Agatha Christie books I will read all the Tommy and Tuppence books again, I can't say that about all the Poirots or Non-series books, (So far I have been lucky with Miss Marple) but next time I will read the Tommy and Tuppence books in order and then get the full pleasure out of them.

Hey, all. :)

I thought this forum could use a "Guess the Character" game, seeming as there are so many characters throughout the wonderful world of Christie. It's a pretty simple format. You pretend that you're describing the character in 1st person.

e.g.

"I am a Belgian detective, infact the most famous detective in the world. I like to use my little grey cells and I love to take great care with my beatufiul moustaches".

Okay, that's obviously Poirot. When the next person guesses right they can post one and the game carries on like that. :)

I'll start with the first 'question'; an easy one.

"I am a famous American actress, married to a Lord. Our marriage is on the rocks at the moment, and I'm afraid I've fallen for a rather wealthy Duke".

Queen of Crime Library - Queen of Crime Library ("Miscellaneous" topic in the "Have Your Say" forum)

Dear fellow Agatha Christie fans,

Recently I launched the 'Queen of Crime Library', the world's largest physical Agatha Christie library.

Maybe you can be of some help? I'm trying to collect (old and new, every language, every title, edition/printing etc.) Agatha Christie novels from all over the globe.

I hope you will send me one or more Agatha Christie novels from your country which I can add to the library.

I will mention your cooperation on my several websites.

More info...

John Curran about the Queen of Crime Library:

Award winning author John Curran ('Agatha Christie’s Secret Notebooks: Fifty Years of Mysteries in the Making' and 'Agatha Christie's Murder in the Making: Stories and Secrets from Her Archive') about the 'Queen of Crime Library':

'I applaud Ralf's initiative in collecting every edition of every Agatha Christie book and only sorry that I did not think of it first. I can see from the photograph [www.queenofcrime.com] that one Hercule Poirot would also approve of the neat and orderly arrangement - 'Order and method, mon ami'! In years to come the library will provide a valuable resource for future historians of detective fiction and for bibliographers of The Queen of Crime. And to encourage others I have already donated copies of my two contributions to the ever-growing library of Christie-related literature.'

Please feel free to forward this message to other Agatha Christie fans!

Thanks a lot!

This book gives Ariadne Oliver her chance to shine without Poirot. Does she do the story justice? Do she and Mark Easterbrook make a good team?

Guess That Object - Guess That Object ("Puzzles and Games" topic in the "Have Your Say" forum)

If a piece of evidence, even perhaps a murder weapon, or another item of significance becomes sapient and gets chatty about its role in the story, will you be able to figure out what it is, and which story?

This game will probably be even more full of spoilers than the other games. If you feel interested in this game, please play, give suggestions, and improve it.

To start off, I'll set a puzzle that contains rather many specific clues that indicate whether it's from a famous Christie detective.

I am a piece of architecture. Things of my type are usually built for no other purpose than a few chuckles and ogles, which do not seem to warrant the amount of material and work put into the building process. I, however, was built by a prodigal son who came home and took over the estates, and he built me only to hide evidence of his crimes. Ah the infamy! That rather foreign gentleman, I think he's doing rather more than ogling me. I think he suspects the truth, and might decide to tear me down...

Appointment with Death - Appointment with Death ("Poirot Stories" topic in the "Book Club" forum)

Set in the Middle East, Appointment with Death allowed Christie to indulge her love of the exotic. Strong female characters are at the root of the story. The overbearing Lady Westholme was based on a woman who Christie had once met in the Middle East. Despite this the public identified her as Nancy Astor, Britain's most famous MP. Sarah King also demonstrates a strong female role - being a Doctor at a time when few women were. Is this sense of feminism seen elsewhere in Christie's work?

In this novel we see hints of Christie's understanding of mental illness. The character of Ginny is portrayed as vulnerable and in need of help and support. Could this be a reference to Christie's own experience when she suffered a breakdown? It certainly shows her awareness of changing attitudes to humour nature.

Recommend other Authors/Books - Recommend other Authors/Books ("Miscellaneous" topic in the "Have Your Say" forum)

Sometimes we mention them in other posts, but here we can discuss them a bit more in depth.
