Open Access is the practice of providing unrestricted access via the Internet to peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles.

Open Access is also increasingly being provided to theses, scholarly monographs and book chapters.

Open Access comes in two degrees: Gratis Open Access is no-cost online access, while Libre Open Access is Gratis Open Access

plus some additional usage rights.

Open content is similar to Open Acces, but usually includes the right to modify the work, where as in scholarly publishing it is

usual to keep an article's content intact and to associate it with a fixed author or fixed group of authors. Creative Commons

licenses can be used to specify usage rights. The Open Access idea can also be extended to the learning objects and resources

provided in e-learning.

My first IFLA Confrerence and i enjoyed every bit of it. The superb organisation backed by ICTs set the stage for a life i Milan, Italy. As part of Nigeria delegates we were able to networked not only with other nationals but with our nigerian colleagues whom i was meeting for first time, even though some of them their names were familiar but never met let alone to discuss and exchange ideas on our noble profession.Surprisely, the opportunty presented at IFLA Conference to get to know ourselves far too way my NLA expetience!

The blog piece on MillionsFed communication is fascinating. Looking back over the tweets, I wonder if the twitter campaign would have been impactful if instead of setting up a brand and making announcements you had enlisted individuals involved in the program to feed out updates on their involvement. My personal twitter filtering tends to favour human faced avatars not brands and personal reflections rather than factual statements. I don’t know much about viral advertising but I think that approach might have got bigger impact.
