In 2009, AGIS launched a company-wide Community Outreach Program, encouraging employees in each office to become involved in a nonprofit organization of his or her choice. The company is providing employees with the time and financial resources necessary to make a difference in the local community.

“With the current state of the economy, it is more important than ever to support the local charities and nonprofit organizations that help our communities,” said Pat Kirchner, president of AGIS’s Tampa Bay office. “This year we decided that, in addition to our holiday giving tradition, we would implement the Community Outreach Program, encouraging our employees to help several organizations with both donated time and financial support. Located in Clearwater, Fla., Heritage United Methodist Church provides the local community with outreach programs, bible study, recovery and support programs, children’s religious education and youth ministry services.

Established in 1981, the mission of Community Action Stops Abuse (CASA) is to raise voices against violence through advocacy, empowerment and social change. The organization provides survivor support through shelter, transitional housing, group and individual support groups, and children’s educational and entertainment programs.

The company is providing employees with the time and financial resources necessary to make a difference in the local community.

The funds will be directed towards the ATEC MRI Guided Breast Biopsy Equipment, which generates same-day biopsy results. AGIS’s Herr is the current Chair of the Women’s Advisory Committee.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private, nonprofit organization that collects, stores and distributes donated food to more than 450 nonprofit partner agencies in six Central Florida counties: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia.

The Health Care Center for the Homeless in Orlando has been providing quality health care services to Central Florida’s homeless and indigent men, women and children for over a decade. The award-winning nonprofit organization has been heralded for making the community a healthier place and for helping the homeless back to self-sufficiency.

“All of these local organizations are critical to health of our local community. They need the support of the communities they serve, and we anticipate that our clients and associates will appreciate our decision to act as responsible corporate citizens.”

Instead of distributing the traditional holiday gifts to its client roster in a seasonal rite of corporate gratitude, AGIS will donate those funds to College Mentors for Kids.

In 2009, AGIS launched a company-wide Community Outreach Program, encouraging employees in each office to become involved in a nonprofit organization of his or her choice. The company is providing employees with the time and financial resources necessary to make a difference in the local community.

“With the current state of the economy, it is more important than ever to support the local charities and nonprofit organizations that help our communities,” said David Norris, president of AGIS of Indiana. “This year we decided that, in addition to our holiday giving tradition, we would implement the Community Outreach Program, encouraging our employees to help several organizations with both donated time and financial support. Thus far, it has been widely embraced throughout our five offices in Michigan, Florida and Indiana.“

Founded in 1995, College Mentors for Kids is a nonprofit organization that pairs youth with local college student mentors for weekly activities that expose youth to opportunities for higher education. Activities encompass three core topics, including higher education and career, culture and diversity, and community service.

Norris hopes that this is a trend that will catch on with other corporate citizens who are in a position to help where help is needed most.
