For those of you who watched the BCS National Championship, or any television at all today, noticed the beautiful Katherine Webb, girlfriend to Alabama's quarterback A.J. McCarron and also Miss Alabama. Hmmmm, this story sounds familiar. Kind of reminds me of that new show Nashville. For those of you who don't watch, Hayden Panetierre's character dates a football player to play up her image. I'm not saying that Katherine's image needs to be upped but it is quite a match for Miss Alabama to be dating "Mr. Alabama". It sure has gained her a lot of attention becoming an overnight twitter sensation and getting on every morning show in America. Anyway, she is BEAUTIFUL and the thing that stood out most to me, as far as makeup goes, was her highlighting with her makeup. Just search her on google and you will see what I'm talking about. She just had that fabulous glow that comes from playing a good highlighter like MAC Cosmetic's Cream Color Base in Shell, off of a good matte bronzer like Too Faced Matte Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. I used the picture of the other girl so you can see a more dramatic use of this in order to really get the point of where to highlight and where to bronze. It takes practice but by using good products and a good contouring brush you will get it no time.

We hope that this year you will all take the thing that makes you beautiful and focus on that thing to make all of your dreams come true. Whether it is your ability to make people laugh, your creative mind, your caring nature, or your ability to lead. Whatever that thing is that makes you special, makes you beautiful in your own way, recognize it and build on it. While our business is making people look beautiful on the outside, the true blessing in our work is helping you feel the beauty that others already see in you.

Hair and makeup has always been a gift that Nisha and I have had. We have been doing it for years for friends and friends of friends. It was last New Year that we made a decision to make it official and so A Glamour Affair began. It has been a very successful and rewarding year for us both. We are thankful to all of you who entrusted us with your special day. We met some amazing people this past year and had so much fun getting to know each and every one. God has given us these talents and however small or unimportant they may have once seemed, by using these gifts we have been blessed tremendously and experience great joy in helping others realize their own beauty. So never discount your talents, only build on them and see what God has in store for you. Below you will see our bests, and favorites from 2013.

My college roommates and 2 of my best twin friends, Cindy and Sandy. A Glamour Affair traveled to Savannah for this beautiful wedding. We had so much fun! Sandy is now pregnant and ready to give birth any day now.

This is the fashion show that we provided hair and makeup for at the beautiful Hills Creek at Thousand Acre Farm in Rockmart, GA. We were excited to work here with my cousin Sharon Rakestraw and her daughters in law, Lindsey and Morgan, who are great friends of ours. We have been blessed to work there many times since then and really love it when we know we are going to spend our Saturday there. It is a great family environment. We also really enjoyed getting to meet all of the lovely girls pictured.

Every girl/woman looks at magazines and wishes, at some point or another, that they could look like "that". That's what our photo sessions with Lori Waddell of Lori Waddell Photography will do. You can look like "that"!!! A Glamour Affair provides hair and makeup and styling and Lori works her magic behind the camera and in the editing room. I know most of us think I can't do that or look like that, but Lori makes it seem so easy and with posing, believe me, will get you the results that you desire. Here are some samples from our last session. Keep in mind that these shoots can be whatever you want them to be. If you want to go for a more boudoir look or something more reserved, yet vogue-like, it is completely up to you "the model". Our next session will be January 19 & 20, 2013. A Glamour Affair's Glamorous Tees

I am so excited that our new t shirt line came in this past weekend. We quickly arranged for a photo shoot with Lori Waddell of Lori Waddell Photography and our model Caitlyn Henderson for this weekend so we could quickly make the t shirts available to you before Christmas. Of course hair and makeup was done by Nisha and I at A Glamour Affair. I absolutely love these shirts, the way they fit, and their versatility!!! Check out these pics from our photo shoot and hopefully you will make one of our tees part of your wardrobe! Just look to the right sidebar and you will find where you can purchase them. Caitlyn is an aspiring model and let me tell you this girl knows how to work it!! I felt like I was working with America's Next Top Model. She was so professional and really put a lot of thought into her poses and how they should work with the wardrobe. I was extremely impressed!!! And what can I say about Lori Waddell?!?!?!? Just LOOK at these pictures. She is AMAZING!

As for the fit: The t shirt is a longer shapely fit. It's not clingy, but it's also not loose like a men's tee. I happen to hate cap sleeves so I love that these tees have the longer short sleeves. I usually wear a medium in a t shirt but I prefer the large in these. That is because I don't like anything to cling to my stomach (I've birthed 2 large babies lol). Caitlyn is wearing a small in these pictures. She is really tiny so it was looser fitting on her. The tank top is a loose fit and true to size. The sweatshirt is also true to size. I can wear the medium, but in order to feel more cozy I would order a large. Caitlyn is wearing a medium in the picture. I just wanted to fill everyone in on the sizing because it is always an issue for me when I'm ordering something. I want to know how it fits!

Styled Boudoir Sessions

We are so excited about our upcoming Boudoir Sessions this weekend with Lori Waddell of Lori Waddell Photography. A Glamour Affair is teaming up with Lori to do the styling for the photo shoot. We are going to have three different set options. One will involve snow (soooo excited), one will include our infamous purple wall from "The Raven" shoot and the other will be a leopard curtain backdrop. We are supplying many bustiers and accessories to choose from that are going to be absolutely beautiful! And of course we will be doing hair and makeup for everyone. Review for Batiste Dry Shampoo With a Hint of Color

Those who read my blog know my love of dry shampoo. When I talk to a lot of my customers their complaint about dry shampoo is that it is white. While the white is easily worked into the hair and disappears easily, if it bothers you Batiste offers dry shampoo with a hint of color. It is offered in Light & Blonde, Dark & Deep Brown, and Medium & Brunette. I used the Medium & Brunette and it is a great match for my hair and the victim of today's post pictured below. The model/victim begged to remain anonymous with her greasy hair. I won't say any names but she did give birth to me 33 years ago today hahahahaha! In her defense I rushed to her house before she could take a shower and immediately after she woke up so I could show just how great this product works. I just sprayed it all along the hairline and lifted sections spraying each one at the root. As you can see the results are fabulous! You can buy Batiste with a hint of color at Ulta, Kroger, Ingles, and Bed Bath and Beyond, among other places.

I will add that the tinted dry shampoo is great for men. My husband and I recently went on a couple's trip. One of the husbands overslept and didn't get to wash his hair because we all rushed him out the door. By the end of the night we were all playing games and his wife was like, "go wash your hair it is nasty!" Then I was like wait a minute I have just the thing. So I ran upstairs and grabbed my batiste and everyone was amazed at how clean and good his hair looked. He kept doing the Justin Beiber thing with his hair all night long. We all got a good laugh out of it, but seriously it really did look good!

We are getting ready to launch our new t-shirt line. We are so excited about these adorable t-shirts that have a great fit. So anyone who reads our blog knows my love of dry shampoo. I like to be clean but I like to be quick too. So sometimes a quick bath in the morning, instead of a shower involving washing and drying my hair, is my much timelier option. Fortunately, with this dry shampoo you don't have to sacrifice style for the convenience of non-washed hair. I LOVE this new cherry scent Batiste Dry Shampoo. I have blogged about my more expensive choice before but for $7.99 this option is fabulous. I will definitely be saving my pocketbook to buy this cheaper alternative. The smell is great and Batiste has a lot of new scents to choose from now. I cannot go on about the many uses of dry shampoo. For updos I use dry shampoo to give me texture that helps hair to stay in place. Any hairstyle that involves a lot of volume will benefit from using dry shampoo at the roots first! One of the best things about this particular dry shampoo that I haven't noticed with others is that it even makes my hair feel clean. My sister, who is pictured below, called me later to go on about the same fact. It is very cool feeling when you spray it on which helps with that clean feeling. Hands Down The Best Anti Aging Skin Care: Onsen Secret From Japan

I love to talk about great products, because as you know we all waste a lot of money on products that just don't get the job done. I was contacted by Onsen to choose 4 products to try, and if I liked them, blog about them. I haven't just liked them I LOVE them!!! The best overall word I can use to describe what they do is "refresh" my look. They just give your skin a fresher more youthful look. I am only 32, but sometimes people guess that I am older (yuck) so I am a little self conscious about my skin. Sometimes genetics don't exactly afford you the luxury of having that youthful glow with your skin texture. I feel like these products have helped give me that more youthful appearance. The only problem with these products is that they will eventually run out, and they are priced higher than most skin care products. A good way to weigh the advantages is to ask yourself how much you are going to spend trying different products that don't work. Another advantage is that you do get a lot of product in each container. Most eye creams come in those little bitty pots and don't last very long. I would say that this will probably last me about a year. Maybe not the moisturizer but eye cream, serum, and mask should. You will find my description of how each product works in the picture below. All in all hands down this is the line I choose as my anti wrinkle cream and to fix the fine lines that I already have!!!!

Under normal circumstance I would absolutely never put up a picture of myself without makeup. This is right after I used the the Instant Line Lifter: Wrinkle Plumping Cream Mask. I have a really uneven skin tone but the mask seemed to even my tone out and give me a really fresh look. Our trip to Los Angeles to do Hair & Makeup for the Halloween segment on Access Hollywood

Our trip to LA to do hair & makeup for the Halloween segment featuring the Big Bird costume designed by my sister Alisha Collins of Fairytale Jubilee on Access Hollywood Live was such an adventure for me, Alisha & Nisha. As you can see below we really overpacked, and no we didn't fit it in the cab pictured. We had to get a van! I hope you enjoy the story of our trip.

I thought these cut-glass glasses were so pretty and vintage looking. The atmosphere was gorgeous here. We thought it was really cool that most people ate outside in LA. That doesn't usually happen in Georgia unless you want to be drenched in sweat.

Hair and Makeup room

The little Queen of Hearts was Harlow, daughter to Access Hollywood's Ryan Patterson. I decided to use hair pads and shape them into each side of a heart. I then covered the pads with her own hair, which was absolutely beautiful!!! She was a very good model!

So she is talking about us when she mentions the hair and makeup team. Oh well, I guess you live and you learn. It's still an experience that I love and a story that I will always have to tell. Our experiences shape our lives and make our life stories more interesting. Speaking of, hearing the stories of all the people we met in LA was all of our favorite part. From the Armenian taxi driver that we taught to say supercalifragilisticexpialadocious to the Australian actor, Noah Craft who was in the most recent Batman movie and the show Lost, who told us something important his mother taught him...... that we all look the same in our pajamas. Another very interesting guy we met was a musician named Steve. He told us this awesome story about auditioning for 30 Seconds to Mars. The story involved Jared Leto and a poncho. I think Steve was probably happy that the audition didn't go so well. Alisha was cracking us up on the trip! The first thing she would say to the cab driver when we would get into each cab was, "so tell us your life story". We so enjoyed hearing all about each story and how they came to be in LA and their experiences with the different stars they had met. I can't go on enough about all the amazing people we met and what a wonderful experience it was. I was also so happy to share this experience with two of my best friends, Denisha and Alisha or otherwise known as Cheryl & Shebang.

DIY for the Big Bird Costume by Fairytale Jubilee seen on Access Hollywood Live

If you were watching Access Hollywood Live this morning you saw the amazing Big Bird costume worn by the lovely Natalia. Parenting Magazine's Sabrina James did a guest spot for the Halloween segment on the show this morning. One of the costumes featured was Big Bird, designed by my sister Alisha Collins of Fairytale Jubilee. The segment was about DIY costumes that are one of a kind and won't be seen on every kid on the block. Alisha created a how-to guest post on this fabulous feathered frock. Alisha was asked by Sabrina to design a Big Bird costume because of all of his recent popularity with the political debates. Since then the Big Bird costumes have been "flying" off the shelves. So if you were planning on going or having your children go as Big Bird you won't be finding a ready-made costume anywhere. We hope that our DIY feature will be helpful and that you enjoy seeing this costume as much as we did. A Glamour Affair Goes to Access Hollywood

We are so excited to be going to LA to do hair and makeup for the Halloween segment on Access Hollywood Live. My sister, Alisha Collins of Fairytale Jubilee, will have a costume featured in this segment. A Glamour Affair did a special photo shoot with Fairytale Jubilee with this particular costume and that is how this all came about. On Monday morning, when the Live version of Access Hollywood airs, we will be featuring a guest post on our blog by Alisha on a DIY version of the costume that will be featured on the show. We look forward to sharing some of Alisha's "magical" fairytale secrets right here on our blog. Believe me you will want to know some of her little secrets because they lead to the most amazing fairytale jubilee worthy creations. And in case you didn't know what the fairytale jubilee is I will share with you Alisha's little secret......
A story is told that daily at dusk there's held a Fairytale Jubilee.
