SPRINGDALE, Ark., January 19, 2009 -- Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, Inc. (NasdaqCM:AERT) (“AERT”), a leading plastics recycler and manufacturer of Green composite building products, announced today that on January 9, 2009 a U.S. District Court in Seattle, Washington approved a class action settlement regarding complaints against the company’s ChoiceDek decking products, of which AERT is the exclusive manufacturer. In this suit, several customers of AERT's ChoiceDek decking product alleged class action claims in federal court complaining of difficulty keeping their decking free from mold and mildew surface stains. These customers bought their ChoiceDek products before AERT began adding zinc borate, a mold inhibitor, in October 2006. AERT investigated these claims and entered into the settlement agreement in order to resolve this litigation and serve the best interests of ChoiceDek customers.

In October, 2008 AERT issued a national notice to consumers in USA Today as well as through direct mail to over 387,000 individuals believed to have purchased ChoiceDek from 2004 to 2008. Consumers have until September, 2009 to file a claim with the company under the terms of the settlement.

As part of the settlement, AERT will make additional information available to customers regarding the need to periodically clean their decking in order to avoid the build up of surface debris which can support mold and mildew growth. Updated cleaning information will be available on the ChoiceDek website. The Court also awarded legal fees to Plaintiffs' counsel of $1.75 million to be paid by AERT in three installments over a period of twelve months. To assist customers with caring for their decks, a new instructional cleaning video will be provided to customers upon request.

“ChoiceDek customers that have issues should feel free to contact the company. AERT is committed to customer service, and I believe the company’s actions have always exemplified that,” stated AERT CEO Joe Brooks. To further assist those customers who may be having difficulty with significant mold or mildew spotting on their decking, the settlement offers a formal claim resolution process. Eligible customers may request to have their decks inspected, cleaned, and treated with a mold inhibitor. The claim resolution process also provides additional relief under certain circumstances, such as additional cleanings, refunds, replacement material, coupons for discounted cleanings, and/or credit vouchers for use at Lowe's Home Improvement stores. AERT maintains a fully staffed customer service department which can be reached by calling 877-220-6624 or by visiting their website at http://www.AERT.com/class_action_set...

“AERT has always stood behind its products, and our associates will continue to work to resolve customer issues with this generation of ChoiceDek products. It is the goal of this settlement to make every ChoiceDek customer a happy customer,” stated Brooks.

SPRINGDALE, Ark., Dec. 3, 2008 -- As previously reported by Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, Inc. (NasdaqCM:AERT - News) (``AERT''), a leading plastics recycler and manufacturer of Green composite building products, AERT has entered into a settlement agreement that was preliminarily approved by the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington on September 16, 2008, in a class action suit filed earlier this year. The Court has set a hearing for final approval on January 8, 2009.

In this suit, several customers of AERT's ChoiceDek decking product alleged class action claims in federal court complaining that they were having difficulty keeping their decking free from mold and mildew surface stains. These customers bought their ChoiceDek products before AERT began adding zinc borate, a mold inhibitor, in October 2006. AERT has investigated these claims and entered into the settlement agreement in order to resolve this litigation.

As part of the settlement, the Defendants will modify ChoiceDek marketing materials to further help customers to understand the need to periodically clean their decking in order to avoid the build up of surface debris which can support mold and mildew. Updated cleaning information will be available on the ChoiceDek website. Additionally, to assist customers with caring for their decks, a new instructional cleaning video will be provided to customers upon request.

The settlement also offers a formal claim resolution process for those customers who may be having difficulty with significant mold or mildew spotting on their decking. The claim resolution process allows eligible customers to have their decks inspected, cleaned, and treated with a mold inhibitor and provides other additional relief under certain circumstances, such as additional cleanings, refunds, replacement material, coupons for discounted cleanings, and/or credit vouchers for use at Lowe's Home Improvement stores. The claim resolution process is described in the settlement agreement and class notice, which have been submitted to the court for approval. More information along with the claim submission deadline is available at http://www.AERT.com/class_action_set... or call 1-877-220-6624

``AERT is committed to customer service and to addressing the issues and concerns of our customers. We at AERT have always prided ourselves in offering first rate customer service,'' stated Joe G. Brooks, chief executive officer of AERT. ``Our intent is to positively resolve our customers' concerns. This process has enabled AERT to improve and expand its customer support program. In the meantime, AERT continues to improve and develop its existing product line and offer optimal performance on new products,'' Brooks concluded.

``We commend AERT for standing behind its product and taking care of its customers in this way. From the beginning of this process, it was clear to us that customer satisfaction was of utmost importance to AERT, and this settlement evidences that fact. This settlement is an outstanding result for all ChoiceDek owners who bought earlier versions of ChoiceDek and may have experienced mold and mildew problems. They will have those issues addressed by AERT in a timely and fair way,'' said Jonathan Selbin of Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, one of co-lead counsel for the plaintiffs and class.

The acquisition and control of the ChoiceDek brand, the agreement with Lowe's to be a direct supplier of ChoiceDek products, and a preliminary agreement to settle the class-action litigation together combine to make us a stronger competitor going forward.
Arkansas Executive with 20+ Years of Public Company Finance Experience Chosen

SPRINGDALE, Ark., Nov. 3, 2008 -- AERT, Inc. (NasdaqCM: AERT), a leading manufacturer of Green building products, today announced the appointment of J. R. Brian Hanna as Chief Financial Officer of the Company. Mr. Hanna has extensive public company financial experience and most recently was the Chief Financial Officer of Brass Eagle Inc. In that capacity, Mr. Hanna was instrumental in the successful spin-out of JT Sports, a worldwide leader in the sporting goods/paintball industry.

``On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to welcome Brian aboard as AERT's new CFO,'' said Chairman and Company Founder Joe Brooks. ``Brian brings to us over 28 years of accounting and financial experience. The Company hopes to tap into his extensive knowledge and contacts as we negotiate lines of credit and develop other banking relationships necessary to drive future growth.''

AERT President, Tim Morrison stated, ``Brian knows our region well, having worked and lived in Arkansas for over sixteen years. In addition, he also has a global view, having been in senior management positions outside the U.S. That perspective will serve AERT well as we open new international markets for our products.''

Mr. Morrison continued, ``We are operating in a challenging environment, both in the domestic economy as well as within the building sector we serve. Amidst the financial dislocations of Wall Street and Main Street, access to capital has never been a more crucial factor in a company's ability to sustain and grow. For shareholders, Brian Hanna's acceptance of our offer is another confirmation that AERT will weather the current economic storm and prosper from an ever-narrowing competitive landscape.''

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Hanna said, ``I'm honored to have been selected to join AERT as its Chief Financial Officer. I am looking forward to working with CEO Joe Brooks and President Tim Morrison to meet our immediate capital challenges as well as building the financial and operation infrastructure to support the growth that I believe lies ahead for the Company.''

Hanna's functions and responsibilities will include interacting with Company auditors and implementing the controls and procedures necessary to comply with Sarbanes/Oxley. In addition, he will participate in strategic planning and policy development. Mr. Hanna, who is a CPA, obtained his Chartered Accountant designation with Deloitte & Touche, Toronto, before joining GSW Inc, a Canadian public company, as Manager of Internal Audit. Hanna held the positions of Treasurer, Director of Marketing and Vice-President of Finance with GSW before joining Brass Eagle in 1997.

Compliance Process Temporarily Frozen for All NASDAQ Affected Companies

SPRINGDALE, Ark., Oct. 20, 2008 - Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, Inc. (NasdaqCM: AERT) a leading manufacturer of Green building products was today informed that, effective immediately, NASDAQ had suspended enforcement of the rules requiring a minimum $1 closing bid stock price in order to maintain its listing. In addition, NASDAQ will not take any action to delist any security for this concern during the suspension. The suspension will remain in effect through Friday, January 16, 2009. The minimum $1.00 bid rule will be reinstated on Monday, January 19, 2009.

AERT, which was granted a grace period on June 18, 2008, was given until December 15th, 2008 to take actions necessary to maintain compliance with the minimum $1.00 bid price on its common stock or risk delisting by the NASDAQ Capital Markets Exchange. AERT has been informed that around January 19, 2009, the Company will get a new letter granting them the ``unused'' portion of their existing grace period.

According to AERT Chairman & CEO Joe Brooks, ``We are pleased that, in light of the current market turmoil, NASDAQ has temporarily relaxed its listing requirements. AERT is but one of over 150 NASDAQ listed companies that are currently out of compliance. We are hopeful that when the listing requirement rules are put back into effect next year, AERT's share price will accurately reflect the progress being made towards our goal of becoming the industry leader in the business of collecting and revaluing waste plastic.''
