It is with great sadness that AGT learned the person single-handedly responsible for the AGT system of benefits and penalties used by AGT to adjust the performance of the tube frame cars from various series into a balanced competitive field has past away. Eugene (Geno) Tataryn., came out of the blue as AGT was struggling to find a starting place for conforming the various fields he sent a wealth of data on the performance of various displacement head types and compression ratios a suggested a power to weight ratio foundation. Elegant in it’s simplicity it was exactly the starting point we needed. Adding the trade offs for everything else fell into place once this simple elegant solution was in place.

Geno was fun to be around and tirelessly provided technical defense of our specifications with volumes of data gained from his years of work at and on the dyno.

Terry Giles was kind enough to forward the news to us. Having dealt with the disappointment of putting the 08 season on hold by ignoring it, it gave me a clear view of the effort made by so many to bring about a level playing field for these beautiful beasts and the enjoyment it brought.

Geno was a unique individual with a great spirit we will miss him.

Here is the note Terry forwarded.

Woodson – I was not sure if you had received this very sad news yet – so I thought it important to send to you – I received an email from Mark Mashburn with regards to Geno – my condolences as I know you and he were friends.

Respectfully,

Terry

Wanted to pass some sad news along. We have lost a GT1 compadre. John just got a call from Geno (Eugene) Tataryn`s girlfriend (Ellen). Geno died last night in his sleep. That is all the info we have. I think Geno was in his late 30`s. When we met Geno, he was an engineer for DEI. Since that time, he had branched out on his own. He occasionally raced a GT1 Camaro with you guys.
Please email John later in the week for details mashburnmotorsports@hotmail.com There is going to be a website setup for details.
Mark Mashburn

(September 7, 2007) – Jim Goughary Jr. in the Luna Sueño Corvette was the fastest AGT car in the test day for Round 6 of the Inter-Americas Challenge at Roebling Road with a 1:08.4. Edison Lluch Jr in the Coors Light Corvette was second with a 1:08.5. Lluch Sr. was close by with a 1:09.0 and Terry Giles turn a 1:10.0. Even thou Jim Goughary has many years of experience and the track record at Roebling in the Formula Mazda class, this is his first time on a 700HP+ AGT car.
If we add to this close lap times and great teams to the other teams that did not test today, Simon Gregg in the Derhaag Corvette, Jeffrey Emery in the Emery Scaffolding Monte Carlo, Mark Shaffer in the Foddrill Fabrications Mustang and Jon Leavy in the MurraysAuto.com Camaro will surely make this a great event for tomorrow’s Race 1 and Sunday’s Race 2. Stay tuned for more updates during the weekend.
