Un projet devant beneficier a quelque 200 familles qui a vu l'implication, aux cotes du gouvernement, de la Federation Lutherienne Mondiale,de la MINUSTAH et de la compagnie dominicaine Guzman.

Avec une population estimee a 33.152 habitants (recensement de 2009), la commune de Gressier, subdivisee en 3 sections communales -Morne a Bateau, Morne la Chandelle et Petit Boucan- n'a pas ete epargnee par le seisme du 12 janvier 2010. (...)

Matadi, 31 January 2012 - The work plan midterm review of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) Civil Affairs Office was conducted from 29 to 31 January 2012 at the Ledya hotel in Matadi, capital of Bas-Congo Province. According to the Chief Civil Affairs Richard Snellen, the objective of this three-day workshop was 'to build the capacity of our teams to better work with our partners, including the local Government and the civil society, and also promote discussion among these two partners'.

The workshop entailed hands-on exercises on local conflict resolution and the search of ways and means to instill improvement in this approach.

Mbuji-Mayi, 29 January 2012 - The Office of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) in Mbuji-Mayi inaugurated a new building for the Prosecutor's Office and the High Court of Tshilenge on Friday, 27 January 2012. The ceremony took place in the presence of Kasai Oriental provincial authorities, who were the recipients of the new facility.

This courthouse comes as a solution to the lack of infrastructure in this province, resulting in prejudice to the administration of justice in the Prosecutor's Office. In the past, the Prosecutor's Office and the High Court of Tshilenge were working in rented facilities for a monthly cost of 500 US dollars. (...)

BUDAPEST, February 6, 2012 (AFP) - The cold snap gripping swathes of Europe killed 12 people in Hungary over the past three days, authorities said on Monday, in the country's first announcement of fatalities.

"Twelve people have died from the cold in the last three days, 55 people have been evacuated and 172 accidents have been reported," the OKW emergencies authority said in a statement.

AMMAN, February 6, 2012 (AFP) - Health Minister Abdullatif Wreikat said on Monday that more than 20,000 Libyans are receiving medical treatment in Jordan's hospitals, mostly casualties from last year's uprising.

Wreikat told the state-run Petra news agency that the patients were being treated in hospitals in northern, central and southern Jordan, as well as in the capital Amman.

Last month, the health ministry said Jordan deported five Libyan patients found to be HIV-positive. (...)

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 6 (UNHCR) - The UN refugee agency and its partner organization Pastoral Haitiana have launched an unprecedented census aimed at improving the lives of hundreds of refugees and asylum-seekers in the Dominican Republic.

The census, which began last week with funding from the United States administration, will provide more accurate data on the number of refugees in the Caribbean nation and will record basic information such as age, gender, nationality, place of current residence, and family details.

UNHCR, for the first time, is using mobile phones rather than pen and paper to record and digitalize this information, saving valuable time and resources. (...)

L'Institut national des recherches biomedicales (INRB) a Kinshasa a confirme, samedi 4 fevrier, que la diarrhee qui sevit dans les zones de sante de Moanda et Kitona au Bas-Congo est bel et bien un symptome du cholera. Le nombre des malades ne fait qu'augmenter, selon les sources medicales a Moanda.

Depuis que le premier cas de diarrhee colerique a ete confirme a Moanda, le 24 janvier 2012, jusqu'a ce dimanche 5 fevrier, l'hopital general de Moanda a enregistre cinquante cas, qui ont ete pris en charge. A l'hopital militaire de Kitona, deux cas ont ete signales, dont un deces. (...)
