Since AIO's relaunch in 2010, Matthew Parker has become not only one of fans favorite kid characters after Album 50, but of all time. Soon, we here at the Adventures in Odyssey Blog will be interviewing the voice of Matthew, Zach Callison, on the Blogcast!

We want this to be a real fun and informative interview, so we need you to send us questions to ask Zach. It can be about his role on Odyssey, other acting jobs, or anything else you'd like to ask him! As Album 55 wraps up, we look forward to hearing more brand new episodes in the fall. And as the new season approaches, Focus has released some details about Album 56 to whet our appetites.

It seems like everyone in Odyssey is looking for something. As Emily pursues her hopes and dreams, she journeys in the Imagination Station to see Whit as a young boy. Penny goes hunting for happiness but her search makes her miserable. And Jay must figure out a strange program in the Room of Consequence that could lead to an unwanted ending. Through his invention and wise counsel, Whit guides the folks in Odyssey along the right path.

I really like the cover art for this album. I love seeing all the different inventions in Whit's workshop. I'm excited to hear the return of several inventions, especially the Imagination Station and the Room of Consequence. I think I'm going to enjoy #56 almost as much as #55!

The Sgt. York episodes were defintiely a masterpiece of a story, but it wouldn't have been as awsome without Odyssey's talented sound designers. Radio Theatre's 'Oliver Twist' Available for Preorder

Focus on the Family really excels with it's production of Adventures in Odyssey. It excels even more when it comes to Radio Theatre. RT used to come out with several dramas a year, but a lack of finances hindered new ones to be released. In fall of 2009, Radio Theatre made a comeback with a dramatization of C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters.

Now, Focus on the Family is gearing up for another release: an audio adaption of Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist. It will be released in November of this year. The package will contain 5 CDs and a special bonus DVD. (Screwtape was released in this fashion.)

Here's the summary for it:

Focus on the Family’s Radio Theatre’s edition of Charles Dickens’ classic story, Oliver Twist. Oliver is born in a workhouse about 70 miles from London, England in the early 1800s. He is brought up at a “child farm” in the country until the parish officials running the child farm decide it’s time for him to start working, and send him back to the workhouse. When Oliver commits the unpardonable offense of asking for more food, the parish officials offer five pounds to anyone who’s willing to take him on as an apprentice. Oliver is sent off with a coffin-maker whose wife mistreats him. Oliver finally runs away to London, where he meets the Artful Dodger and Fagin. Fagin trains kids to be pickpockets, and then sells off what they steal. Oliver goes through many trials and hardships, but finally gets his happy ending.

Recorded in London with an award-winning cast, Oliver Twist will steal your heart and take you back in time as the characters are brought to life in this audio drama.

Today, we have the summary and cover art for the new AIO devotional book.

Written by the Adventures in Odyssey team, 90-Day Devotions for Kids provides fun, Bible-based devotions for families and will encourage children to spend time learning more about God. There are no better mentors than Whit and the folks from Odyssey to partner with parents as they teach their children about God’s Word and make the truths of the Bible accessible to their kids.

AIO’s 90-Day Devotions for Kids includes thirteen weeks of devotions. Sidebars from Odyssey favorites Wooton, Whit, Connie, and Eugene provide friendly suggestions for life applications. Each week has an individual theme and will include an overview to introduce the theme, seven devotions that reference AIO dramas, and an activity, puzzle, or game to reinforce the core biblical truths taught during the week. Parents will find the tools they need to help start children on a path toward regular time alone with God, and families will be encouraged to spend time together as they share the daily readings.

Merchandise for AIO's 25th Anniversary

2012 promises to be a big year for Odyssey. Not only is there going to be a live show in June, not to mention some awesome new episodes, but we're also getting some great new merchandise this year!

First off, a sequel to 2008's Platinum Collection called the Silver Celebration will be released this September. It will contain 36 episodes on 12 CDs with an show from each of AIO's 25 years.

Also, remember our post about a new devotional book coming out? Well, we've got more info on that! It's going to be called 90-Day Devotions for Kids. It will be released in October.

Last but not least, is the updated and revised Official Guide. It will contain information and behind the scenes tidbits for Albums 51-56. If you already have the 2008 edition, don't worry. Having been one of the people who helped with spotting errors in the last book and suggesting new content, I assure you that this book will have lots of new things to go with the stuff in the last edition. Oh, this will also be released in October.

The BBP is a podcast hosted by brother and sister Noah and Hallie. Their goal is to review every single AIO episode in existence. In their first episode, they discuss Whit's Flop and The Life of the Party. Check them out at their website or Facebook page.

Adventures in Odyssey's latest book series continues with two new books! But it looks like #8 will have a different name. The first name we were given was Mystery of Starlight Island. now it's been changed to Battle for the Mysterious Island. No, The Rock isn't in this one. :D

We've also got the cover of #9, Escape to the Hiding Place.

A New AIO Devotional Book

Do you remember this? It went out of print years ago, but now it's coming back! For the 25th anniversary, Focus on the Family is creating a whole new edition of the Adventures in Odyssey Devotions. But they need your feedback on what questions to be answered, issues to be discussed, etc. to know what things kids are facing and wondering about. You can post your suggestions on the OAIOP blog or on the AIO Facebook page.

The original devotional book was a companion to the Odyssey Bible. Does this mean we'll see a reprint of that, too? Stay tuned!
