The benefit to the BB is that as it is spherical, it can be loaded or fired any way round. Unfortunately, this shape causes inherent instability during flight (an aerodynamically unstable object) and can cause slightly more unpredictable flight paths than with a pellet or bullet.

NOTE: While AEGs have a bolt, the mechanism of the AEG at this time means that the bolt has no function. It is entirely cosmetic in all but a rare few AEGs.

To reload the bolt action rifle after a shot, the bolt must traditionally be pulled back manually by the shooter allowing the removal of the old bullet case. The shooter then pushes the bolt forwards again, loading a fresh bullet in to the breech.

When a gun is fired, a bullet is launched forward at high speed. The energy put behind that bullet is effectively split in half. Half would go toward pushing the bullet forward and the other half would be pushing the gun backward. The sharp ‘kick’ that you feel as the gun bounces backward after a shot, is the recoil.
The Airsoft Tracer Unit is manufactured by Tokyo-Marui and contains batteries, a switch and a bright light source. The unit is attached to the barrel of a gun in the same way as a silencer would. As a Tracer BB is shot, it travels down the barrel and in to the Tracer Unit where the BB triggers the switch inside. This causes a bight flash to go off inside the tracer unit, irradiating the BB with visible light and making it glow for a few seconds after it leaves the barrel. The effect is amazing and has to be seen, but Tracer BBs can be expensive as they are made from special glow-in-the-dark material. Tracer BBs usually glow bright green in colour.

Whether you are looking to destroy an old TV of yours with steel bbs, or have an arsenal of airsoft bbs you want to shoot through in a matter of minutes the M-134A2 airsoft minigun is your answer. The internal magazine on the M-134A2 airsoft minigun is capable of holding 1700 airsoft bbs and going through them at an impressing 700 rounds per minute! The beauty about this airsoft gun is that it only weighs in at 26lbs, not including the air and battery pack of course!

In all seriousness the M-134A2 airsoft minigun is the gun you need to dominate the battlefield! You can obviously be a one man army with this monster, but would serve great as a heavy crew served weapon used for suppression, or defense if playing attack & defend!

Oh, and just incase you were thinking about starting to save up for one of these babies, the M-134a2 will only set you back a few grand… $5,000 last time I checked? Ouch!

Check out these cool M-134A2 Airsoft Minigun Videos, the video of the M-134a2 shooting glow in the dark airsoft bbs is crazy! Would’ve been better if they mixed it with normal airsoft bbs so it would be sort of sequenced.

We all have heard of airsoft grenades at one point in time. You might have even heard and felt one blow up infront of you! We all know that airsoft games are about realism, and the more realistic the airsoft games tend to be the more entertaining they usually are. True airsoft enthusiasts have come up with many ways to make airsoft more entertaining and real without the use of actual firearms, from adding forts, bunkers, ghillie suits to real military camouflageuniforms to the more interesting factors like airsoft claymore mines, trip flares, and of course the airsoft grenade.

Airsoft grenades are made to work very similar compared to the actual grenade. They are usually small, easy to carry, and can be either hand thrown or by use of an airsoft grenade launcher and later detonated after a few seconds. Most airsoft grenades will have “kill radius” of anywhere from 10-20 feet and a timer set to detonate usually anywhere from 3 to 5 seconds long. Players have the option of using an airsoft grenade launcher to propel certain airsoft grenades, giving them farther shooting distances and accuracy then by throwing by hand. These airsoft grenade launchers can be bought sometimes with the airsoft rifle already attached or after as an additional add-on.

The airsoft grenade can be extremely crucial to a team that has been out numbered. Individual movement of an airsoft player can be made easier by suppressing the enemy and disrupting the enemies continous defensive airsoft rifle fires with airsoft grenades. The noise and a fairly large “kill” zone will also have a psychological effect against your opponents! Players will usually be more open and exposed especially after they find out they have the upper hand of having a lot more players on their side, this can make it very hard for the other team to move around effectively due to constant fire from all directions. The Airsoft grenade is perfect for this scenario, since they will not only take out a few enemies but will also put “fear” into the players of the other team. Airsoft grenades should always be followed with suppressive fire especially if planning on moving from one location to another, this will make the use of them much more effective. In a team effort airsoft grenades should be used first to wipe out all of the heavy guns (crew served airsoft machine guns) that will be doing a lot of damage.

The airsoft grenade plays an important role and adds extreme realism in airsoft games. If used correctly an airsoft grenade can have many uses and can spare many of your fellow airsoft players “lives”. Using it for anything from suppression to clearing out trenches to taking out communication equipment or heavy crew served airsoft guns. It plays a crucial role in intimidating the opposite team players, and will make an outnumbered airsoft team much more powerful and maneuverable.

If you didnt know the M16 (a variant of the m4) is now used as the standard issue weapon for the US Military since the Vietnam War, 1969. It is now the primary infantry rifle used by the U.S. military, it has also been in use by 15 NATO countries, and is also the most produced rifle in its (5.56) caliber. This being said it is no wonder why airsoft players will naturally sway for an airsoft m4 or m16 as their first airsoft weapon.

A beginner looking for their first airsoft gun will typically want an airsoft rifle that will be versatile, one that will allow him to play different sorts of airsoft games with one airsoft gun. Whether it be close quarter combat or a game in the forest you want to find that gun that can do it all at first. The airsoft M4 shines in this aspect, as it is a perfect airsoft gun for close quarters or longer distances. In some instances the m4 airsoft gun will even be used to play the role of an airsoft sniper rifle by some players, in which case their would have to be some kind of scope attached to the airsoft m4 rifle.

For players that still want a versatile airsoft gun but will mainly be playing open field games will probably want to sway towards an m16 airsoft gun giving you an extra few inches in barrel length for added accuracy at farther lengths. If you don’t plan on playing the role of an “airsoft sniper” too much an airsoft m4 should suffice for long distances and will be extremely effective at CQB as well.

If the U.S. military using m16’s and m4’s as their standard weapons is not enough of a reason to sway you to buy an airsoft m4 as your first gun, the vast amount of customization you can do to the airsoft rifle might be the reason you might want to go with an airsoft m4. Even if you can’t buy a super high end airsoft rifle with lots of gadgetry the airsoft m4 will allow you to customize and add later on once you have more cash saved up. Anything from laser sights, to LED flashlights, to grenade launchers can be added to the airsoft m4 after purchasing it. Most airsoft players will go on to buy a red dot airsoft scope as their first upgrade if it did not come with their m4 airsoft gun.

The airsoft m4 is a great gun for the beginner and the professional airsoft player. It not only looks great but proves to be an extremely effective weapon as well. The airsoft m4 rifle is able to shoot accurate and far distances as well as close, it is not a bulky airsoft rifle and most will have a collapsible butt stock to make it even more compact. There is no doubt that the features and quality on your m4 airsoft gun will greatly depend on the manufacturer. It is important to go with a well reviewed brand and an electric airsoft gun when shopping for your airsoft m4, by doing so your first airsoft gun may end up being one to last you a few years without the need of replacing it, only modifying it of course

For those of you airsoft players who have been playing with a bone stock m4 airsoft gun, you might have noticed your fellow airsoft players with fancy attachments on their airsoft m4 such as LED flash lights, laser sights, & probably the most noticeable and useful upgrade of all, an airsoft SCOPE attachment (for the beginners wondering what the rails were for on your airsoft m4 rifle).

The attacheable flash lights add a nice look to the airsoft m4 rifle but in most games the player will not have a need for it, adding more useless bulk to the m4 airsoft gun. The laser sights are another upgrade that definately makes your gun look likes its used by a special forces operative, but in reality most airsoft games will not allow the use of laser sights on your airsoft m4. Laser sights can be harmfull if pointed accidentally into someones eyes and could have the potential of blinding someone worst case scenario. On the other hand an airsoft scope attachment onto your airsoft m4 rifle can not only add a few points in the looks department but can be extremely effective in certain airsoft games.

When shopping for your airsoft scope it’s important to keep in mind what you will be mainly using it for. This is important because it will be a main factor when deciding what kind of airsoft scope you will want to buy for your m4 airsoft gun.

Telescopic Airsoft Scopes

Telescopic scopes are one option of scopes, telescopic usually suggesting a magnified scope. These are usually ideal for airsoft snipers who will usually stay a little farther back from the action and stalk their prey! Although most decent airsoft m4’s are capable of shooting from far distances you will probably not be doing much sniping with this type of weapon.

Cross Hair Airsoft Scopes

The cross hair airsoft scopes are very popular and have been around a long time. They will usually have little to no magnification and will be very useful.

Red Dot / Green Dot Airsoft Scopes

These are probably the best choice for most airsoft enthusiasts for their airsoft m4 rifles. These scopes will project a green or red dot inside the scope visible only to the shooter. Aim the red or green dot onto the target and shoot! This allows you to aim extremely fast onto your opponent.

For most airsoft games, if you’re going to be playing with your airsoft m4 rifle a red dot airsoft scope will probably be the most efficient and widely used airsoft scope. It will be extremely handy and most valued in CQB games, but can also be very effective in normal airsoft skirmishes just as long as your not doing any long range sniping.

Airsoft AEG Guns that we all here about in the airsoft world are nothing else than electric airsoft guns. AEG meaning “automatic electric gun” is one of three types of ways main stream airsoft guns are powered, in which airsoft bbs are projected by an electric internal motor. The electric airsoft guns are considered to be the preffered choice by airsoft enthusiasts! The airsoft aeg guns are also known to be the most powerful and arguably the most accurate on the field as well.

These airsoft AEG guns originated from Japan, much like the sport Airsoft and have become the standard type of airsoft guns used today in most airsoft skirmishes and competitions globally. Airsoft AEG guns are of an electric motor that drives multiple number of gears, which compresses a piston assembly up against a spring. Upon the release of the piston the compressed spring will propell the airsoft bbs through the barrel, the process is repeated over and over.

A similar process takes place with spring airsoft guns but it is all done manually by cocking the airsoft gun manually after each and every shot rather than by an electric motor with many gears to do all the work for you. This is why the airsoft AEG guns are capable of shooting semi-automatic and full-automatic as opposed to the cheaper airsoft guns powered by a spring.

In general electric airsoft guns will usually have farther and more accurate shooting distances but this is not always the case. There are many low grade cheap airsoft guns coming from china that can be bought under $100. You may not neccesarily be getting yourself into a deal, if the electric airsoft gun is going to break on you or will not be as efficient as the other airsoft aeg guns your opponents are playing with. In Mid to higher end airsoft AEG guns it is common to see them shoot at 300 FPS and much higher. The cheaper airsoft guns that you can find under $100, although may look the same as the superior airsoft AEG guns will usually have cheaper internals where the electric motor and gears will be made of plastic as opposed to metal, and come with more defects as quantity and low cost is what counts when these cheap airsoft guns are made as opposed to better quality control.

Airsoft AEG Guns are definately a must have for any airsoft gamer, it is pretty much the standard weapon used in all games of airsoft. You will probably not even want to step on a field with a spring powered airsoft m4 if all your opponents are using AEG airsoft m4 ’s as you will stand no chance having to reload after every shot while your oponents on the other side are shooting upwards of up to 700 rounds per minute! Thanks to the popularity of airsoft you can get a decent entry level airsoft aeg gun for around $140, just remember to research and shop around for the best airsoft aeg Gun in that price range and the best retailer as well!

The most important factor when it comes to airsoft would be accuracy. A powerful airsoft rifle capable of shooting 400FPS is almost useless if you can’t get it to shoot where you want it to. A consumer looking for a decent airsoft gun will usually end up spending anywhere from $100 and up. A very common mistake made after spending the extra $20-$40 for a better airsoft rifle is that the consumer will go on and buy the cheaper airsoft bbs to save a few dollars. Not only will this have a tremendous impact on the accuracy of the airsoft rifle, but you will also be more prone to jamming. It might sound like an upselling scam to most people but its true. The cheap airsoft bbs will usually have slight imperfections, a rough surface, and have a seam, as opposed to the higher end airsoft bbs that will be high polished, perfectly balanced, and have a seamless cut. Having your airsoft bbs seamless is critical in the accuracy of your airsoft gun.

The cheaper airsoft bbs (pictured on the left) like mentioned before will have a seam. This seam on the Airsoft bb means it was either stamped or filled together, putting the airsoft bb greatly off balance. This will have a great impact on the accuracy of the airsoft rifle. The airsoft bb pictured on the right is high polished and seamless, by the image you can tell it is smoother all the way around, this will cause less friction and deviation on its way out of the barrel. Just by appearance alone without any details you are able to tell that this airsoft bb is far more superior.

A common mistake done by many airsoft players next to buying cheap ammo is not choosing the right size airsoft bbs for their airsoft gun. If your airsoft gun shoots above 250 FPS you will want to use the .20 gram airsoft bbs unless your manual says other wise. Choosing a smaller caliber airsoft bb (.12 gram for example) for a rifle capable of shooting 250+ FPS will cause the BB to curve to quickly and will be affected by the slightest wind as well. If you rifle shoots above a 300 FPS you might want to consider a .25 gram airsoft bb (unless your manual says otherwise).

In this article we’ve learned that choosing better airsoft bbs for your airsoft rifle will not only help you shoot farther with greater accuracy but will also increase the life of your gun and will greatly reduce jamming. In our next article we will go more in depth with the different sizes of airsoft bbs.

Airsoft gun manufacturers have come a long way since the start of our beloved sport Airsoft. Nowadays there are literally hundreds of different styles of airsoft guns to choose from, which can leave a consumer easily confused and frustrated if they do not know where to start.
In this article we are going to be discussing the main differences between a gas airsoft sniper rifle and a spring airsoft sniper rifle. This article is a must read for those that want to become the elite airsoft sniper ( a little exageration there)!

  Price Difference

The most obvious differences between the two you may have already noticed without me having to point out is that one airsoft rifle will be powered by gas canisters and another by spring. If you are shopping for airsoft sniper rifles it won’t take long for you to notice that there is a considerable difference in price between a gas & spring powered airsoft sniper rifle.

Comparing Frames Per Second

Spring Airsoft Rifles, although affordable – the cheaper of these airsoft guns will generally need modifications to the spring for it to be effective in airsoft skirmishes. The spring airsoft rifles on the higher end scale price will generally have the capability of shooting upwards of 475 FPS compared to a higher end gas powered airsoft sniper rifles that will usually shoot airsoft bbs at up to 550 FPS.

Single Shot or Semi-Automatic?

This might be one of the most important steps in figuring out which kind of airsoft sniper rifle you want to go with. Spring powered airsoft sniper rifles are only capable of shooting single shots. This means that after every shot your spring airsoft sniper rifle will have to be cocked before you are able to shoot again. One advantage gas powered rifles will have is the ability to shoot in semi-automatic. You want to look at each airsoft guns description before buying to make sure you are getting what you want. There are some gas powered sniper rifles that are made as a “bolt action” single shot only as well too, this is to add to the realism of the sniper rifle. Since both of them gas & spring powered airsoft sniper rifles both need to be cocked after each shot it is also important to take into account that a gas powered airsoft sniper rifle will be a lot easier to re-cock since there will be no tension made by the stiff spring.

Accuracy

When comparing accuracy between the two airsoft sniper rifles most will agree that it is fair to say they are about the same. There are few experts that will always disagree, but there isn’t much solid evidence to really conclude any noticeable differences in accuracy between the two. You do however always want to use heavier airsoft bbs with airsoft guns capable of shooting higher FPS, in this case the gas airsoft sniper rifles. This will help you achieve maximum efficiency and accuracy of the airsoft rifle. This is especially critical for an airsoft sniper shooting long distances.

Conclusion

If you are looking for an airsoft sniper rifle that is good “out of the box” without needing any modifications and have a few extra bucks, you may want to consider a gas powered sniper rifle. The biggest downside you may notice will be the constant changeout of gas canisters. You will though, have the upperhand against the spring airsoft sniper rifle in distance & FPS (speed). If you have some extra cash the spring airsoft sniper rifles are a great choice as well. Many experts will say they are more durable & more reliable since they are made of no complicated or “re-fillable” components.
