Eco-friendly tadpole vehicle(Tricycle) for physically challenged by Mechanical Engineering Students

The physically challenged people of middle and lower class need not spend the energy and effort on the hand driven tricycles now, as few students of Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management, Bhatkal(Mechanical Engineering Department) have brought forward a battery-driven tadpole tricycle, which would provide better mobility to disabled persons along with saving tons of effort.

Four students of AITM Bhatkal have fabricated a tricycle, keeping in mind the requirement of physically challenged persons, who cannot operate hand driven conventional tricycle. The eco-friendly tricycle runs on 36V DC motor. The students, who developed this project, said, "The tricycle has configuration of 3 batteries of 12V 14 AH, DC motor of 36V 500W 2550 rpm, speed controller."

The final year Mechanical Engineering students Mohammed Hunain s/o M Amjad Shabandri, Mohammed Imran Ruknuddin s/o Ali A Ruknuddin, Noon Ahmed s/o Shabbir A Siddiqui and Shoaib Shaikh s/o M Ilyas Shaikh under the guidance of Prof. Mohammed Ibrahim, have fabricated this battery driven tricycle as part of their final year project.

"The main objective behind fabricating this tadpole is to provide a vehicle for the persons with complex physical disability (eg: person with right hand and right leg polio) and to minimize the physical effort of rider. Also, to overcome the effect of global warming", said a student.

The vehicle featured a single handed steering system along with acceleration and braking on one side of the vehicle (LEFT in this case). The average speed of the vehicle is said to be 20kmph.

Answering a question about the efficiency of the vehicle, one of the students said, "The vehicle runs for 3 hours, for 6 hours of charging".

The students have thanked Dr. Udaya Prasanna Principal of AITM Bhatkal, Khalid Hussain M.T HOD Mechanical Engineering, Prof Mohammed Ibrahim M, Prof Ananth Murthi Shastry and Lecturer Mr. Mohammed Avvad Chamundi for their support and encouragement. He also thanked Mr. Asif Motiya who provided them with technical help, Mr. Keshaw for fabricating the project and Mr. Adnan Ruknuddin & Mr. M Ashfaque Shabandri for their motivation.

MECSICO presents MECH-XPLOSION

The fest was inaugurated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, 27th of April with the recitation of verses from the holy Quran by Professor Abdul Muqeet KM, who also co-ordinated the fest along with Professor Mohammed Avvad Chamundi. Mr. Suhail Rafique welcomed the guests and the participants and introduced MECSICO (an association of mechanical engineering students of Anjuman and Mech-Xplosion event.

Chief Guest Mr. Mohammed Aeraaf who addressed the students after the inaugural ceremony, spoke on how to tackle and come through job interviews. Professor Uday Prasanna (Principal, AITM) also addressed the students. The inaugural functions was presided over by Mr. Ansar Kashimji (Vice president Anjuman Hami-E-Muslimeen).

HOD Mechanical Engineering has given the vote of thanks to Anjuman members, Principal, faculty members , MECSICO association members and Mechanical Engineering Students.

7 different events were held in the fest out of which two events were the mega events. The two mega events were: MODELLO EXHIBITO-an exhibition on working technical models and INTERVYU- a mock interview event to test the contestant's aptitude, group discussion skills and stress coping ability. The other events were: QUIZ, 'DARE TO SPEAK', 'CYCLE DEATH RACE', 'FLY HIGH RETURNS' (involving miniature rocket launchings) and 'IDENTIFICA'- Identifying the mechanical components for Mechanical Engineering students.

In MODELLO EXHIBITO, the team consisting of final year students Mechanical engineering students, Zaheer, Ateeque, Ansar and Saqib won the championship, Abdur rawoof (ENC), Tasleem Ahmed, Nazeer Ahmed, Hammadul Kareem bagged the second place and team consisting of Abdul Hameed, Ziya ur rehaman and Aneeque kadli all from mechanical engineering studens bagged the third place, while in the mock interview event, Kashif Khan (MECH) won the first place, The second place in the mock interview event was claimed by Salahudin Siddibapa (ENC) while two contestants Ismail Jalees Gawai and Mohammed Hafi Kola (both from Mechanical department) were declared third after a tie.

The event was concluded by Mr. Mohammed Avvad Chamundi

Students bagged 2nd prize in INNOVATE `13

Three students from our college participated in INNOVATE’ 13 National Level Tech Fest at Canara Engineering College, Mangalore on 19th of April 2013. Presented 2 technical papers on the topic “Using Water as a Fuel in Automobiles” by Abdul Hameed & Zia ul Rehman and “Exhaust Gas Recirculation” by Anique Kadli. Abdul Hameed begged 2nd prize in CAED Mania an event of modeling HUMMER on Solid Edge software. All the three students attended were from 8th SEM mechanical ‘A’ section.

Awaaz-e-Anjuman Season-3 Begins

Awaaz-e-Anjuman, the talent hunt for singers is set to start the new season. It all started in the year 2011, when the students welfare officer Prof. Mushtaq A Bhavikatti thought about bringing out talent in the college. The idea was taken to the then principal, Dr. R Noor Ahmed, who readily agreed. The college level talent hunt has gained a huge success since then. More than 15 contestants competed in the season 1 whereas as the stats doubled in the year 2012 with nearly 30 registrations for the ace talent hunt show of AITM. In the lights of roaring success of Awaaz-e-Anjuman Season-2, the Season-3 is expected to be a massive hit.

The three of them have brought honor to our college after their good performance in GATE exams.

Around 10 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, of which 13 per cent candidates only qualified. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an all India examination, administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology. Admission to postgraduate programmes with government scholarships/assistantships in engineering colleges, institutes and universities are open to those who qualify through this test. IIT-Bombay, was the organising institute for GATE 2013.
