This is perhaps one of the first few things which you would like to do once you get your brand new iPhone. And that is to send more than one photo at a time via e-mail.

For those who know how to send multiple photos from iPhone it will became part of life. And those who don’t know it will be surprised how easy it could be.

The good news is that you can send more than one photo at a time through e-mail from your iPhone.

The bad news is that you can’t send more than 5 photos in this way.

Here is how you send more than one photo via e-mail as attachment

iPhone Home Screen		1. Tap on Camera from home screen.
Tap on Photos at the Bottom left to go to Gallery		2. When in the Camera App tap the bottom left corner to go to the photos.
Tap on Camera Roll		3. From there tap on the top left Camera roll to see the thumbnails.
Tap on Share		4. From here tap on the share icon which is in the bottom middle.
Select up to maximum 5 photos and then tap on Share		5. Select photos which you want to be included. You can select only up to 5 photos in one go. 6. Once photos are selected tap on Share from bottom left.
Tap on Email to send all selected photos by Email		7. It will popup Email/Print option. 8. Tap on E-mail 9. Select your e-mail account 10. Fill up the to, subject and other fields and tap Send. All done.

The only limitation in this method is that you can’t send more than 5 photos in one go. And there is no workaround for it.

If you want to send more than 5 photos in one go then you will have to use App.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 - BlackBerry App World on WiFi

BlackBerry App World doesn’t work on Wifi or does it?

Answer is yes and no and it is still mystery why BlackBerry App World works with WiFi for some and why it doesn’t work for others.

For me BlackBerry App World didn’t work on WiFi on my BlackBerry Bold 9900.

The question is why would you want to use BlackBerry App World on WiFi and the answer is to save Data. Or if you don’t have a data plan with your mobile phone service provider then you would like to use BlackBerry App World over WiFi. This makes sense. I’m on 500 MB data plan and it often runs out in the first week of the month so I’m forced to use App World over WiFi but I can’t as it doesn’t work.

Don’t be surprised, yes it is true by default BlackBerry App World didn’t work on WiFi on my BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone.

How to make BlackBerry App World work with WiFi on BlackBerry Bold 9900?

First switch off your Data from Mobile Network settings.

Turn on WiFi.

Access BlackBerry App World.

If it works then all is good.

If it doesn’t work then check Black Berry App World permission settings to make sure that it has permissions allowed for WiFi.

However there is another tricky situation, if you turn off Data for mobile network then the WiFi will also not work. Which is very strange. By turning off Data you meant to turn off Mobile Network Data and not WiFi but for some reason it also turns off the WiFi. So the above is not the solution.

Download latest App World

The last resort is to download the latest App World, install it and BlackBerry App World will work on WiFi.

At least this is the solution which worked for me.

Blackberry Bold 9900

It’s 3rd month since I bought shiny power packed highly hyped  BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone. There are many reasons which make me believe that this phone is an absolute crap and one of the most important reason is the  BlackBerry Bold 9900 Battery life.

Initially the batter lasted for about a week with little usage then it fell down to 2-3 days and after 3 months it just lasts for 3-5 hours without any usage.

This was a shocking revelation to know that  BlackBerry Bold 9900 has problem with battery life. First I thought that the battery might be faulty and I was thinking to demand a replacement from Vodafone, however after reading the forum threads and other website I come to know that  BlackBerry Bold 9900  indeed suffers from low battery life.

On the New Year’s eve I updated the Blackberry software to 7.0.0 Bundle 2406 which doesn’t improve the battery performance.

Following are the BlackBerry Bold 9900 Battery Specifications taken from BlackBerry’s website.

The signal strength is very poor in my locality and it hovers between 3G and EDGE. So if BlackBerry’s official version is correct I should get at least a week’s of battery life with moderate usage.

I’m aware that battery life also depends on mobile phone settings, networks and other stuff. I hardly use any of the advanced features and I’ve already done optimization, but the battery performance doesn’t improve.

I don’t watch any video, no browsing, screen brightness is to lowest – just 10%, GPS is off, no social networking connection no other application run in the background. Yet the batter drains down fast.

When I started writing this post I disconnected charger and after 1 hour the battery is already down to 85%. 15% drained in just 1 hour in standby mode?

I’m still in the process of doing further optimization and will see how it goes.

I updated Operating system to Windows 7. While installing Adobe Reader X (10.1.1) on Windows 7 I received following error.

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {B708EB72-AA82-3EB7-8BB0-D845BA35C93D}. HRESULT: 0x80070BC9

This is very strange, I’ve never seen any Adobe Reader installation error in the past.

At first I thought it might be due to the user permission issue. In next attempt I tried to run the Adobe Reader installer as administrator.

To run Adobe Reader installer as Administrator, right click on the installer and select Run as administrator.

However this didn’t solve the problem.

Finally I did some search and found the solution.

The solution is to disable all startup items (and services) and then insall.

How to disable startup items and services?

1. Close all application

2. Launch System Configuration utility.

Windows key+R

Type msconfig and hit Enter key

msconfig - Start System Configuration Utility

3. In the System Configuration window, click on Startup tab

4. Uncheck all the Startup items which are checked. Note down the items which you have unchecked as you will need to check them again after installation.

5. Click on Apply, OK and restart Windows.

6. On Adobe site they have suggested to stop all the services tool. I didn’t do it. For me just disabling Startup items worked. If disabling Startup items doesn’t work for you then in next attempt you can disable the Services too.

7. Once Windows start, disable any services which are started. No need to restart Windows.

Run the Adobe Reader Installer as Administrator. Running as Administrator might not needed and you can run as normal user. If you get any permission related error then you can run the installer as Administrator.

That’s it.

If you are using any other operating system such as Windows Vista, Windows XP etc then you might try above method or refer to Adobe site for help.

This error is not limited to Adobe Reader only, you might get the same error for other Adobe products.

I saw this error when I was installing Adobe Acrobat Pro X. However I didn’t see this error during installation of Photoshop, Dreamweaver or Flash applications.

Total Time Waste: About an hour.

People to Blame: Adobe and/or Microsoft.

First I saw Toshiba Portege Z830′s advert in Metro. The ad was in the form of a story disguised in a news which described how a man suffering from some mysterious disease and unable to lift anything heavier than his mobile managed to lift this ultrabook from his fingers. Nice way to jumble up news, story, fact and disguise the laptop advert but couldn’t fool me. Bad propaganda, the agency which did should be fired.

Any way, after reading that rubbish I decided to check out Z830 to see why this gadget is really a news worthy.

Toshiba Portege Z830

Toshiba and lightweight laptops don’t go hand in hand. Toshiba laptops are notoriously bulky, thanks to Toshiba’s obsession to pack everything possible in a laptop. I own a Qosmio and before this I had a Satellite M series laptop. Both were bulky enough to be used as dumbell, as noisy as a tractor and hot enough to fry an egg.

So if the makers of such heavy duty laptops come up with something ultralight ultrabook than it is enough to make noise.

Toshiba Portege Z830 has no moving parts and it’s casing is made entirely from Magnesium Alloy which makes it a perfect mobile laptop.

At just 1.12 kg Toshiba Z830 is an ideal laptop for highly mobile professionals and executives. It’s lightweight and think frame makes it a perfect travel companion without compromising the power of a true computing device.

What separates this ultrabook from laptop is the solid state hard drive. Yes you heard me, there is no mechanical device in this laptops (of course except fan) which makes it lighter, thinner and ultimately a true ultrabook.

Hard Drive

The most revolutionary feature in Z830 is the solid state hard drive. Hard drives are the ones to blame for the laptop weight. Take it out and you end up with a much lighter computing device. Apple did it long time back and they have been using flash drives instead of mechanical hard drives.

So Toshiba did Apple and used a Solid state device resulting in a ultrathin ultrabook 8.3mm thin device.

128GB of SSD is quite more than enough for any heavy user. Toshiba didn’t compromise with the disk space by using SSD which is big plus for this laptop.

Processor

Toshiba Portege Z830 is powered by 2nd generation of Intel i3/i5 processor which makes it a very powerful laptop sufficient for high end usages, multimedia and gaming. Processor speed of 1.40 GHz is a big turn off. Most of the latest laptops and notebooks come with at least 2.2 GHz so 1.40GHz is going to make you think twice before purchasing this ultrabook.

Memory

Toshiba Portege Z830 is capable of just 4GB of RAM which in my point of view is very less. In 21st century anything less than 8GB is a complete disappointment.

Toshiba Portege Z830 are powered by Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Operating systems which allows at minimum of 8GB RAM. So just having 4GB is underutilization.

However given the fact that there is no mechanical device and it is powered by the high end processor it seems to me that 4GB is not going to compromise with the performance.

Graphics

Intel HD Graphics 3000 is used in this ultrathin ultrabook which makes it an ideal choice for entertainment enthusiasts and gamers.

Battery life

Toshiba claims that Toshiba Portege Z830 can give up to 8 hours of battery life which I think might be true. I personally never find Toshiba laptops to last longer on battery. 3-4 hours used to be the peak which I had with my 2 Toshiba laptops.

Toshiba Portege Z830 just weighs 1.12kg which makes it truly mobile laptop and an ideal gadget for highly mobile professionals.

Display

Toshiba Portege Z830 comes with just 13.3inch screen which is a bit of disappointment. I personally never prefer a laptop with screen size less than 15.6inch. 13.3inch (33.8cm) is really less for a techie like me. But that is the catch, you can’t make a 15.6inch laptop as ultrathin and ultrabook, can you?

Display is Toshiba HD non-reflective High Brightness display with 16 : 9 aspect ratio and LED backlighting.

The internal resolution is 1,366 x 768

Performance

1.40 GHz of processor and a SSD can give a good performance for entertainment or gaming. It can also easily sustain high demanding applications such as Photoshop.

Toshiba Portege Z830 Models

At the moment Toshiba Portege Z830 is available in 3 models in the UK; Portégé Z830-10N, Portégé Z830-10P and Portégé Z830-104. All models are exactly same with just some differences in Operating System and Processors.

Price

Toshiba Portege Z830 starts from £899 (exc VAT) which is a little bit steep but can be justified as this laptop is think and comes with Solid State Drive.

Conclusion

At first look all the hype generated by Toshiba’s PR machine can be a temptation for gadget enthusiasts. But digging down further you will end up only with disappointment. 1.40 GHz processor speed is too less and a 13.3 inch of screen size is a big turn off.

The 8.33inch thickness and a magnesium alloy frame can be attractive from outside but a constant whirling fan and under utilized memory is not going to convince me to shell out my hard earned £899 .

I wanted to check backlinks for a website on Yahoo Site Explorer and when I visited the website it was gone.

Yahoo Site Explorer Shut Down

I used Yahoo Site Explorer quite regularly for checking backlinks for a website which I don’t own. And to be honest there is no other SEO tool which lets you check the backlinks of an external site.

I’m very disappointed with the Yahoo-Bing merger committee and their stupid move to shut down Yahoo Site Explorer completely.

There are not good alternatives for Yahoo Site Explorer. There are some tools, plugins and extensions for browsers which allow you to check backlinks up to some extent but they are not as good as Yahoo Site Explorer used to be. Infact most of the free backlink checker tools used Yahoo Site Explorer.

Alternatives to Yahoo Site Explorer

Open Site Explorer

Open Site Explorer is not a replacement for Yahoo Site Explorer, however this is the best tool you can get for free (limited). It shows up to 200 backlinks unlike YSE which showed 1000 backlinks. If you want to see more backlinks you will have to pay a fee.

This is SQL injection which is very clear from the above message itself.
Problem is with the vBulletin version 4.1.2 which is vulnerable for SQL injection.

To fix this problem we have to upgrade v~Bulletin to the latest version.
