HERBAL ESSENCES CAUGHT DECEIVING PUBLIC OVER CRUELTY TO ANIMALS

P&G have been forced to withdraw an advert for their hair care range ‘Herbal Essences’ which falsely claimed ‘we don’t test on animals’, following a complaint submitted by Uncaged to the Advertising Standards Authority. When challenged, P&G admitted the statement contradicted thousands of chemical poisoning tests that they still carry out on animals for the sake of Herbal Essences, Pantene, Olay and other beauty brands.

Uncaged spearhead a global consumer boycott of Procter & Gamble to persuade the company to stopconducting poisoning tests on animals for the sake of cosmetics and toiletries. An international day of action is scheduled for Saturday 14th May 2011.

Although such tests have been banned in the UK and Europe due to public opposition to unnecessary animal cruelty, the practice still continues in countries with less-advanced animal welfare regulations such as the USA and China.

This decision will give consumers some clarity over the fact that P&G continue to subject animals torepeat-dose poisoning tests for the sake of trivial products such as Herbal Essences.

However, here at Uncaged we are concerned that hundreds of thousands of people will have read this lie and thus may be unwittingly funding cruelty to animals by purchasing Herbal Essences. P&G continue to issue misleading statements about their animal testing practices, and we are asking the ASA to widen their investigation into these fraudulent claims.

Uncaged urges P&G to really stop testing on animals, instead of just trying to deceive consumers into believing they care about animal welfare. This highlights the need for animal advocates to get active on 14 May to counter P&G’s lies and empower consumers to help end animal testing.

UNCAGED FORCES AVON TO RETRACT FRAUDULENT CRUELTY-FREE CLAIMS

Another Uncaged complaint has forced global cosmetics firm Avon to withdraw false claims that they don't test on animals. Uncaged had written to the Advertising Standards Authority in protest at a deceptive statement on Avon's UK website that told consumers:

'Avon does not test products or ingredients on animals, nor do we request others to do so on our behalf.'

Uncaged, one of the UK's leading experts on animal experimentation, informed the ASA that this statement was untrue. On the contrary, Avon themselves have admitted in correspondence and on their global website that they carry out toxicity testing on animals.

Avon explain that their refusal to stop animal testing is due to their desire to be able to incorporate new chemicals into their products, as they believe innovation will maximise their profits.

Uncaged's victory for truth and decency follows their similar successful complaint against Procter & Gamble last year over deceptive claims regarding their Herbal Essences brand. Uncaged point out that misleading animal testing claims are endemic in the multi-national consumer goods industry, and are calling upon the Government to take action to defend consumers and tackle unnecessary cruelty to animals.

Help needed for Pit Bull bait dog

CHESTER, SC........Ava is a sweet, 18 month old emaciated Pitbull that was used as BAIT. Both sides of her Face are almost ripped off. Her Sinus Cavity is broken. Her throat is ripped. This poor dog has been to HELL and back. AVA was picked up as a stray and brought to Animal Control in Chester, SC. Based on how badly infected her wounds are, she had to have been on her own for several days begging for someone, anyone to help and show her KINDNESS. Sweet AVA was almost MAULED to death. Her entire face, neck and front of her body have been ripped and torn from hundreds of bites. She has chunks of skin hanging from her face that have exposed her teeth and jawbone. I am shocked she is still alive. She is skin and bones on top of all the injuries. When we got the call from Animal Control and her pictures, we knew we were the Last Resort for her. No one else had stepped up and she was going to be put down the minute we said NO. As full as we are, there was no way I could turn my back on her With all of her injuries, her TAIL never stopped wagging. We sent someone immediately to pick her up and had surgeons on call to immediately get her stable and into surgery the minute she arrived. The doctors and vet. techs worked tirelessly into the night to clean out as much infection as they could and find some viable tissue so they could begin the restoration of her face. Her entire body is infected from all of the open wounds that have gone untreated for so long. Ava will have to have several more surgeries before we are done with the restoration of her face. Her recovery is going to be a long process. When you have this much damage, it is a wait and see process from one surgery to the next. As tissue dies, it has to be removed so it does not poison the body and viable tissue found that will granulate with other viable tissue. Ava is stable and smiling. For an animal to be in the worst shape imaginable and still want to shower you with kisses is amazing. She has a strong will to live or she would not have survived all the pain and suffering she has endured in her young life.

Audrey, a 2 year old pit bull was discovered on her death bed. She was discovered at Joyce Park in Fairfield. She weighed only 27 pounds and her temperature was so low it could not even be registered on the thermometer. She was eating her own fur to try to survive. She had protuding bones and badly infected paws. Her paws were cracked and bleeding from her having to stand in her own feces and urine over a long period of time.Edwin Saunders is her abuser and he admitted to owning Audrey. He is chared with abandoning animals, fail to file dog tag, cruelty to animals, dangerous dog, and liability insurance required. We want the max sentence handed to the abuser. Animal abuse needs to be taken serously and punished as such. Ordinances are in place in the state of Ohio in regards to pit bulls. If the state of Ohio wants to impose bans and laws about owning pit bulls then the courts should impose the proper punishment when they are not followed.

Stray Dogs Beaten with Sledgehammer in Greece

A man in Greece attempted to kill three stray dogs by repeatedly beating them with a sledgehammer. On December 23 2011 in Moschato, near Athens, the man lured the dogs with food inside a fenced yard and, wielding a sledgehammer, proceeded to smash two of the dogs on the head. The third dog managed to escape before the door was shut. The remaining two were victims of his unspeakable brutality. Their screams brought people to their windows and doors. The man’s reply to the numerous shouts from witnesses begging him to stop was that he would do the same to them if they intervened. One brave woman called the police. Upon their arrival, the man had thrown one of the dogs, Rigas, in a garbage bag and was on his way to finish off the remaining dog, Duke. The man was apprehended and the dogs were quickly transferred to a doctor. Rigas, the most severely injured of the two, passed away on the 30th of December. A CT scan showed that a piece of his skull bone had lodged itself in the brain. Duke is, as of 1st of January, reportedly out of danger. He is still in shock and afraid of people.

The first trial date has been set to 9th of January. Please ask for maximum punishment!

Saved! Dozens of dogs being carted off to be slaughtered for food are rescued by police

These horrifying pictures show dozens of dogs stuffed into cages on their way to be slaughtered for food in the Philippines.

Sixty of the brutally treated animals were rescued by police, but 12 others had died of suffocation by the time the special operations team found them in a van.

The dogs had been muzzled and their snouts and feet bound with plastic cord before they were crushed together in metal cages.

The bears singled out for surrender are Mr Nguyen's share of the larger bear farm business, and while he is intent on persuading his partners to give up their bears too, only these 14 will be leaving this place today. The rescue is tainted with sadness for the bears left behind.

Bremen, IN - A frightening trend appears to be taking place across the nation - dogs stolen from their yards, abused and then returned.

It has happened again to one little dog in Bremen.

According to WSBT News, 14 yr-old Laddie, a mini Sheltie, was stolen from his fenced yard on Wednesday.

Several hours later, the little dog, so broken from a beating that he could not walk, was placed back into his yard.

His family said that he was covered in mud and eggs - the veterinarian decided that Laddie was too grievously injured to be saved.

What type of person is capable of such heartless brutality?

Clues from a possible witness indicate that children could be to blame.

She claims to have seen a boy in a black sweatshirt who was poking sticks at the dog - that boy had a baseball with him at the time.

Whether a bat was the weapon of choice, or another implement - the end result was the same...Laddie, an innocent victim, was brutally beaten - to the point that he had to be humanely euthanized.

The police have opened an animal cruelty investigation in conjunction with Laddie's death.

NOBODY CAME....DEATH OF A CHAINED DOG...

Conroe, TX - A dog suffered a miserable existence at one Conroe home. That dog's world consisted of a chain, tethered to a fence in the backyard of a home on Shadow Lane.

According to Your Houston News.com, one woman witnessed this dog's misery and contacted animal control to file a complaint.

According to the report, Linda Lindemood contacted the Montgomery County Animal control one month ago to let them know that this dog was being neglected - no food, no water and tethered to a fence.

Lindemood claims that an animal control officer came out and did a welfare check and advised the dog's owner that they needed to rectify the situation.

The situation did not improve for the chained dog - instead, two weeks later, he died at the end of the very chain which had defined his existence.

The dog that died - who was neglected and ignored for long enough to pass away - has been left on the end of the chain, still lying where he died.

The body has been on the ground since December 7.

According to the report, animal control has stated that they can not remove the dog's body because doing so would constitute trespassing unless the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office directs the agency to do so.

The Montgomery County Animal Control has indicated that the case was turned over to the sheriff's office for a "possible cruelty investigation".

But the dog, who appears to have been the victim of ongoing neglect, continues to lie upon the ground - weeks after dying.

His owner has not bothered to bury his body.

Undercover filming has revealed the truth of millions of piglets on British farms having their teeth clipped and tails docked without anaesthetic.

The footage has been captured by researchers with the campaigning organisation Viva, which is calling on the government to implement a UK ban.

Viva describes the scenes of piglets having their back teeth clipped off with metal pliers and the ends of their tails removed with scissors as horrific.

Justice for Bozhidar , shot and tortured as target practice Bulgaria !!

Bozhidar (God's gift) was about a year old stray, enduring life on the mean streets of a small village in Bulgaria. Sadists used him as a live target and shot him numerous times. They covered all of his body with gunshot wounds but that wasn't enough for the bastards' sick fun, so they cut his tong and left him on the road to die slowly!

The driver of a passing truck saw the agonizing dog and called local animal rights activists. They reacted immediately but there was nothing much to be done for the poor thing. By the time help arrived he's lost too much blood and his suffering was beyond belief. The dog has been euthanized.
Atrocities like this one happen every day and in every country. Still, there is difference between the way such cases of unspeakable cruelty to animals are handled in the civilized world and in Bulgaria.

suka is another victim of the cruel society that we live in today, ran over intentionality just like cannella, this poor girl is now left with paralysed hind legs unable to walk and has to drag her hind legs, if you view her pictures you will see the sores and damage on her legs which has been caused through dragging them on concrete these are open to infection, this poor girl also suffers from mange, and other parasites.

NO Fur campaign in China- ACTAsia

On 3rd December the 2nd Shenzhen International Fringe Festival was hosted in Shenzhen Bay. ACTAsia, together with volunteers from universities and with support from Shenzhen Stray Dog Station and Shenzhen Cats, participated in the Fringe Festival for the No Fur China Campaign. Animal costumes and masks were produced by art students from Shenzhen University and volunteers performed on the stage and in the streets to demonstrate the miserable lives of animals in fur farms and the way their fur was brutally taken from them. They also joined the parade with anti-fur placards. The stage performance was seen by thousands of people and the street performance attracted a lot of the public, and many joined in. Our anti-fur performance also received the Best Performance award by the festival organisers, and was reported by the media the following day.
We are pleased with the excellent response - this is a great start to our winter 2011 fur campaign.

a beautyfull white dog is hang up in a tree on his troat he screams because a chinees man is holding his leg and slam him with a stick at the hardest posible way he can on his body and on his head for 15 minutes just when de pour dog is want to give it up the man get him out of the tree and walks with him inside the kitchen to cut of his troat .

a big truck is coming into town with a load of steal cages the cages are full with dogs 10 dogs in a cage of 1 by 1 meters they are sitting on top of eatchother there legs are comming out of the cages than the truck driver stops and trows the cages from the top of the truck on the ground legs are breaking you can hear them screem some dogs cant breath any more because he his pushed in the corner of the cage by the other scary dogs.
than they get hit with a stick to make the adrenaline pumping in their body's the chinees thinks the meat is better if the dogs have their adrenaline pumping before they die.
another dog is lying on the street his legs are tight up to eathother the sun is shinning on him all day long no water no food he is waiting until somebody is buying him for the next evening meal.
10 dogs are sitting behind a truck on the local maket of china they are getting punishment for barking they also waiting for somebody who wanna buy them for their evening meal and if they get sold than what is going to happen before they end up on the table they get boiled alive ore hang up in a tree and get hit wth a stick ore their skin is get of while they are still alive.
and when they are not get sold they have to run behind the truck with a rope on their troats back home where they have to wait for the next day and if they can not run any more the truck will not stop they will drag behind the truck untill they finally die ore will be still alive but have a lot of pain what is good for the adrenaline.
I can tell alot more story's what I have seen from the chinees people.
Why do they still eat dogmeat in this time in this century ?
The government once talk about stopping the people from eating dog meat but than they disided that china can be independed about that and just let their people misbehaving on all the animals.
even the zoo in china are allowed to mistreat animals they are pulling animals teeth out so that the people can hold them for the pictures.
What kind of people are you if you cant have a heart for all of those helpless animals.
China say's that they are a big country and that the people are very walking forward on the rest of the world well I think that china only is a sad and low country they dont'care for other creatures thats on this planet.
