Five things you didn’t know about emoticons

Every generation has its own lingo and communication systems that make it unique with respect to its predecessors. The technological revolution and early immersion of children into the world of tech have a lot to do with this: this explains, for instance, our already-internalized “text speak.” Based on the mass use of IM apps, so-called emojis are the new revolution in digital language, the logical evolution and globalization of the ASCII emoticons we’ve been using all our lives. We use emoticons daily on our smartphones, but did you know where they come from or how they came to be globally standard?

Where do they come from?

Etymologically, the word emoticon is a neologism made up of the words emotion and icon, leaving the word’s intended meaning quite clear. While its origin and current conception are related to their use in the tech world, it’s possible to find much older references from before the digital era, such as the one discovered in the satiric magazinePuck, which in 1881 published a series of typographic character combinations to represent different moods.

Nevertheless, the first real reference aiming to standardize and regulate the use of emoticons in a particular sphere of digital communication was the one done by the renowned researcher Scott Fahlman, who in 1982 sent a messageto his colleagues via Carnegie Mellon University’s BBS in which the vertical smiley :-) and :-( appeared for the first time.

Emoticons vs Emoji

It was in Japan that, among the many ASCII-code derivatives to represent emotions, the so-called kaomoji were created in the mid-90s, with the distinctive feature of being represented horizontally without having to turn them to view the result. To give a few explanatory examples: (づ｡◕‿‿◕｡)づ -╭( •̀؁•́ )╮- (✿◠‿◠) – ლ(❤ʚ❤ლ) – (ノಠ益ಠ)ノCool, right?

In the beginning, emoticons were created based on characters, but at the end of the 90s graphic equivalents in the form of small icons began to be used to represent all sorts of elements beyond different mood faces. NTT Docomo, Japan’s largest mobile service provider, was the first to integrate it in its services, but it wasn’t until 2007 that these icons were introduced in Unicode standard so they could be used on any system capable of reading it. In other words, emojis—despite the fact that we see them as small images—are actually characters with their own coding and are represented differently depending on the software where they are displayed. Thus the same emoticon looks different on an iPhone, an Android device, or the Google messaging tool.

The most used emojis

The use of abbreviated terms in texts and later the smartphone communications boom has led to an ever-increasing need for emoticons to express emotions quickly, to the point of directly replacing the written expression with the picture in question. The top niche of mobile-focused developers are aware of this need, and thus Apple and Android made their systems compatible with the standard even before they were integrated into Unicode.

Matthew Rothenberg created some while ago a system to count the number of times each emoji is used on Twitter, capturing the results in a dynamic, constantly updating ranking where you can see the ones most frequently used. Seeing on this page how massively they are published in real time gives us an idea of the importance of this system of communication in the modern day. (Here’s the full ranking.)

How does the brain react to an emoticon?

Emojis have reached such a degree of integration in our daily lives that our brains have adapted to their use in ways that’s we’re not even aware of. Psycologists from Flinders University in Australia have published a study in which they have measured the cerebral activity of a group of students viewing emoticons written by their friends in messages sent to them and comparing them with the reaction to seeing the sender’s actual face. The result was illuminating: The effect in both cases is practically the same, meaning that in practice we’re associating these digital characters with the emotional expression they’re trying to transmit.

250 new emojis to arrive this summer

While more than 700 emojis already exist with their own Unicode numbers, the list is about to be expanded to many more with the launch of the 7.0.0 version of the standard, which will be available in coming weeks as Apple, Google, and Microsoft integrate the support in their software.

The list swaps in new images for some of the existing ones and adds many new elements. In the (attention) list on Emojipedia you can consult and even view them in certain cases, although they won’t be available until mid-July.

Review: BlackBerry 10 Brave Attempt...

BB10 is out and yes they bravely managed to face Android, Apple and Windows, but is it strong enough a contender? Would you bet your money on BB10 when you have alternatives in same price that give extreme performance and power?! Let us try to find the answers, from my perspective, if its really worth taking a chance. (BB loyal users and BBM addicts may not be willing to read further! :D )

Flow Interface:

BlackBerry calls the BB10 interface Flow with good reason. It’s all about the gestures with nary a button necessary. It reminds us of Windows 8 with all the swiping from the edges you have to do. But in BB10, it feels natural.
The gestures and swipes are easy to learn and remember, so the learning curve isn’t that steep. The main move to remember is swiping up from the bottom. This unlocks the device, activates peek, and also minimizes apps and returns you to the Home screen. Swiping up and to the left opens BlackBerry Hub from any app or screen (except the Lock screen). In apps with settings, swiping down from the top brings up those options. On the Home screen and in the Hub this gesture gives quick access to often used settings and wireless radio toggles. In the Hub and on the Home screens it’s all about swiping left and right to get where you want.
And that’s it. If this seems simple, that’s the point. The interface is mostly efficient and lacks the kind of complexity that can lead to confusion.

There are aspects of this that aren’t so efficient. For instance, each time you swipe an app to get back to the Home screen area, you always land on the Active Frames (open apps) screen. If you’re switching between apps and the second app isn’t a recent one, you still have to swipe from the right to get back to the list of all apps. This is a minor thing, but the more apps you use, the more this is annoying. It’s equally annoying that you can’t launch an app from BlackBerry World once it’s installed.
That said, the Active Frames screen is very useful. It’s the heart of BB10′s multitasking features and makes it easy to get to the most recent apps. The reason these little windows are called Active Frames is that, like widgets in Android or Live Tiles in Windows Phone, they can display changing information, such as an update to the weather, a reminder, or the time. The concept is useful even if the functionality isn’t robust as the widgets in Android.

[Verdict]
Clearly in the fast race of better than best interfaces already available like Android , Apple & Windows, and these platforms themselves improving and upgrading so faster with ever upcoming latest Android versions, BB has a long way to go. Again the recent revamped move of windows: Windows Tile interface and Windows 8 has given a tough competition to Android and Apple already in terms of interface friendliness, leaving Android and Apple no choice but to evolve more faster and some historic OS like Symbians already out of Smart phone race and labelled a feature genre rather, that it is really very difficult for Blackberry to have its own space. And with the BB10's current Interface features available, leaves room to improve a lot!

BlackBerry Hub, Peek, and Calendar:

The Hub is the centerpiece of BlackBerry 10 and its importance is key to understanding who BB10 is actually for. BlackBerry appeals to people who want or need to keep on top of their messages. And the Hub recognizes that important messages aren’t limited to your email or BlackBerry Messenger. They also come from social networks and chat services, too.
All of these messages come to the universal inbox that is the Hub. Yet somehow it doesn’t feel cluttered and disorganized. The interface design strikes a balance between offering enough at a glance information — not just who a message is from but where it’s from – and not overloading the screen with too much. Plus, you can always filter the inbox by service, viewing email or BBM or Twitter only.
You can shrink the main window with a gesture to see notification icons showing how many unread messages you have from which accounts.

It’s possible to reply or create new messages or status updates right from the Hub, which comes in handy. It still has some odd quirks, however. For instance, the Compose button is strictly for messages to people, not for status updates, which isn’t readily apparent. To post a status update, you have to filter for that network and then the Status button appears. Hub also pulls in information from the various services for context, though viewing full profiles on social networks does require going to the app.

[Verdict]
Though we have certain Hub apps available for Android, Windows, Apple and their own proprietary Hub application also available for few like Samsung hub for Android, but for Hub application, I would give more marks to BB instead! Though messaging is no more BB's dominant area, as Google and Windows has emerged a lot with Google being most popular in messaging services, and also personal and secure server communication is available as in Apple- iMessage. But from business point of view still the most secure and robust messaging service is BBM only. Though we have cross platform apps like WhatsApp, but that can not be counted relevant from business point of view, rather more an informal way to stay connected and have fun, but BBM brings you both the worlds!

Predictive Keyboard:

BlackBerry is going forward with both touchscreen-only and physical keyboard devices. Both types of phone will benefit from BB10′s new predictive text engine, though the implementation is different for each.
As you type, word predictions appear on the keys and you can just flick them up to choose. The space bar provides a single autocorrect option in case you don’t feel like flicking. Over time, the keyboard will learn from your typing and offer better predictions.

At first, the predictions aren’t going to be as much use. The suggested word text is very tiny and can be hard to see. By the time you suss out the word you’re trying to type, you might as well have typed it. Speed demons will easily outpace the tiny text. Only later, after the keyboard knows you better, will the tiny words finally match what you want to say well enough that you can flick most of your words. It also helps that the words appear floating over the letter you’ll probably type next.

[Verdict]
Blackberry might be amongst very early devices to have QWERTY physical keypad devices, but the time has evolved a lot now, with better than best touch interfaces available in Apple, Androids and touch winning the futuristic interface preference, again a long way to go for BB keyboard. With lots of customizable soft keyboards available on Androids, BB has a lot to evolve in this category.

Voice Commands:

BlackBerry 10 includes another good way to enter text: voice. The Voice Commands app can launch apps, update your social network status, make calls, and perform other Siri-like features.

[Uncool]
The engine isn’t as robust as Siri because it lacks some of the natural, conversational commands, but in practice, it’s about on par in terms of accuracy. It understood what we wanted “make a call,” “tweet,” etc., yet had trouble with our pronunciation of some contact’s names. The voice-to-text engine has to upload to a server to translate and won’t work while offline.

[Verdict]
Compared to Android- Google Voice based various apps or Siri of Apple, BB really fails here badly, and will give you a very novice experience of voice command if you have experienced Apple or Android before. This is kinda same story as Apple maps, and again a long way to go for BB.

BlackBerry Messenger: (The undisputed feature of BB!)
For BB10, the company added two new features to this popular core service: video chat and screen sharing. The quality of video chat depends heavily on the network or Wi-Fi connection and the camera.
Screen Sharing is just what it seems. Once on, the person on the other end will see what you see hen navigating your phone. In this way you can show a presentation, pictures, or pretty much anything except video. This will appeal to business users as a quick collaborative tool.

[Verdict]
A clear win, full marks to BB!

BlackBerry Balance:
[Cool]
Another much touted feature of BlackBerry 10 is Balance, as in work/life balance. This allows users to have a separate personal profile with different apps, messaging accounts, even backgrounds (so it’s easy to tell when you’re on the Personal or Work sides).

[Uncool]
Balance is only available to companies that utilize BlackBerry Enterprise Server 10. That leaves out mainstream users and probably some small businesses as well. The technical reasons for this make sense, it just seems odd that the company touted the feature so much when it’s not available to everyone. It’s one of the aspects of BlackBerry 10 that really brings home that the company designed this platform for its base: business users. Mainstream users are welcome – some might even say needed – but important aspects of the operating system are geared toward business use, if not restricted to it.

[Verdict]
Again as BB always emphasized & cherished it's business useful features, same is this case. Definitely a plus for people who use BB for business needs, and definitely not available in Apple, Android or Windows targeted at general users more. So BB scores here more than Apple and Android.

Apps - Big Fail!
With such a vast variety of Apps available on other platforms on massive app stores like Google Play, Apple or even Windows, BB app store has very less apps or variety available. There is definitely demand for many useful apps missing on BB that are available on other platforms. Lets see how far developers go, and BB creates some good variety of quality apps in future.

Conclusion:
BB is certainly packed with certain unique features like BBM, secure messaging, business oriented and certainly will always be the best choice for that business segment of users always. Though it is trying to expand to other segment of general users and youth alike, but in that area it has a long way to go and a big competition to face as well. There is a little portion of 'loyal' users alike who might not need BB for sole business purpose but rather love for the BB or the BBM lone is enough for choosing BB over other alternatives. With the kind of market grabbed currently, trends going forward, and evolution happening in technology my view of near future in terms of mobile OS is: Android will remain biggest market eater due to greater performance and interface it offers and better integration with upgrading hardware as well as Google's hardwork to keep beating its own old versions and launching newer with a pace that is astonishing! Also the major audience we have is general audience not business, this includes youth, and this major portion loves features, performance, fun, Apps and smartness and not only business messaging over secure servers. Google understands that, and is cleaver enough to offer open source powerhouse with all that user wants and thus is a big hit! Apple again being good and an inspiration for Android too! will remain second, since this is a bit costly segment hence the percentage is less than Android. Windows who was once dead is catching market share will have its own small share of market with number 3 position due to its own uniqueness of latest tile interface. Windows will have an impact on the market and will not be out of the picture. Nokia Symbian is dead already, the biggest pain for Symbian is now being labeled as 'feature phone', who was once an undisputed smart phone. Blackberry again will continue to hold on its own market share though very small, and certainly will not be out of the picture. This is again partially true due to its unique business features. But how far BB goes ahead in this fast race is a interesting question, and only time will tell. Though with what BB has entered in market now with BB 10, and what competitors offer already it seems really a very long way and a tough race for BB! Lets see how many laps it needs!But one thing is for sure, with this fierce battle of platforms, at the end, there is only one winner - end user!

Hi dudes & dudesess!
Wassup folks! Having great life?
Well I bet you all are having one! As its just a perception you know.

"Good life starts when you stop looking for a better one!"

Well atleast for me, this is the only funda of life. :)
Today I watched the movie- "Jism2"... managed to follow my much longed urge!
I was more keen as to see how our lady can actually ACT! ;)
So the reason was not Sunny Leone's hot & sexy body :P for me, but rather the curiosity to see her act, how actually is her acting, that I went to watch the movie!
The movie was a disappointment for me. Was more funny to me than of any other genre.
The story line is simply too weak or I must say nothing!
Yeah guys would remain hooked up due to steamy exposing scenes and intimate kisses scattered all along the movie! (maybe a plus for male race of human kind!) And of coarse, gladiator of her arena, our lady just rocked those burning scenes!
What I actually liked is that Sunny Leone actually gave a nice try. I mean common, a lady from 'only a bed' sets to a complete 2-hour Bollywood movie, she really tried hell good man! (of coarse she has better body than any other present Bollywood Actress!) Her Hindi-speaking was good as well, yeah I meant lip movements only as her voice was dubbed! :D
I feel Sunny can get into the acting business pretty well! (she acted better than many Bollywood actresses, like Celina eg :P, in Jism2)
If it were a better script, movie might have done a bit better.
Few songs were really good!
Hooda (Kabir) was fine, not much opportunity in the role given to him maybe.
Arunoday (Ayaan) was flimsy yet tollerable!
Sunny was playing a role of a porn-star (not surprising!) in the movie as 'Inza'.
So overall rating for the movie, though a thumbs up for Sunny, is a 2 out of 5 for me.
Movie was not sex-centered, only intimate scenes and kisses but not that sex-stuffed as you might have assumed. Yeah Sunny is in sexy clothes and exposing all throughout the movie!
The funny part that I hardly can resist myself not sharing is that remarkably, as is shown in the movie, Sunny was not having no blood in her body! :P :D Well I can prove this, as is shown in the movie:
1. In one scene when Sunny proposes Huda, she gives him a letter written with her blood! But folks clad in shortest clothes I could not find a single spot of cut in her body (or hands)! Dunno whose or from where the blood came or if she was not having any in her body!
2. In the climax when she was shooted (on her back from behind in the center), there was a very small stain like you have dropped a drop of sauce on your T-shirt! Man! what non-sense! On the other hand Arunoday was gushing and bathing with blood with just one bullet on shoulder!
Did Sunny had any blood?! Mystery remains!
Also the last dialog of movie could not stop me from laughing, this was it-
"Huda (tossing coin, they are both dead and souls): swarg jana chahti ho ya narak?
Sunny: Agar tumhara sath na ho to swarg ka kya karna, tumhare sath to nark hi acchha ha"
These were not exact words as I wrote from my memory, but the sense was exact and meaning was the same!
Now you can clearly understand that Sunny feels either way, Huda will go to hell! Common Sunny! Huda was not that bad to you! :D lol

Hello all my lovely folks, reading my blog in the mid of your busy day.
This is Saturday morning in Mumbai, India and after just waking up, I have took my laptop and without even leaving the bed, the first thing I am starting my day with is a post!
The weather is super-cool here, rainy season is around. The big window by my bed is showing nice morning scene. Birds are chirping as the chill breeze passes by my hairs.
Yeas its kinda cheerful and beautiful morning.
I am getting in a poetic mood as well! ;)
A better time as well may be for couples romancing. :)
So in all it seems to be a great day, lets see!
There are many plans in my mind for the day, I have a class to catch in the evening and wanna watch Jism2 also today.
But for now all I am doing is enjoying the laziness and cozy feel of my dear fluffy pillow!

Chawri Bazar is the deepest station of the Delhi Metro network and is situated about 30 metres (98 ft) below ground level. It is located close to the monuments of Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India and Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Major stations such as Delhi Junction (Old Delhi) and New Delhi Railway Station of the Indian Railways are located close to Chawri Bazar.

‘Achievements of Delhi Metro unparalleled'

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro railway will remain the Central Government's priority even in the face of a general resource crunch and increasing expenditure on account of funding other metros, said Union Urban Development Secretary M. Ramachandran here on Monday.
Speaking at the 16th Foundation Day of Delhi Metro, Mr. Ramachandran added: “Despite the resource crunch due to upcoming metro projects in other cities, completion of Delhi Metro projects has been the Government's priority.”
Mr. Ramachandran, who is also the Chairman of Delhi Metro, said that with the completion of the ongoing Phase II constructions the Delhi Metro would become the only one in the world to have successfully covered 125 km in four-and-a-half years.
He described Delhi Metro's achievements as unparalleled and praised it for completing works in time and within the allotted budget. Referring to its growing reach, he said in the next few months, ahead of the Commonwealth Games, Delhi will get an additional another 75 km of metro network.
Maximum benefit
Mr. Ramachandran said though the metro has already added 110.49 km to its network in recent years, the system will be of maximum benefit to citizens when every part of the city is connected to the metro network.
Referring to Phase III of the network, he said the Government had received proposals for the next phase. He pointed out that with the expenses of the next phase likely to be huge, the Government is currently examining the process of garnering resources for the project that is expected to cover another 84 km.
Director (Electrical) Satish Kumar said Delhi Metro's financial growth was 31 per cent in the previous fiscal and by January 2011 the network is expected to add another 200 trains to its existing fleet.
He said during the past year the metro added a record 42 km to its network, which is the highest addition in any single year since its inception.
He also pointed to the introduction of new technologies in its services to provide better facilities to commuters. “The successful inauguration of India's first standard gauge metro corridor from Inderlok to Mundka is one such achievement which will pave the way for easier adaptation to new metro technologies in the future as most metro systems around the world run on standard gauge,” he said.
Annual awards were also presented to 30 employees for their outstanding contribution to the metro. R. K. Raghav, Group Station Manager of Central Secretariat and Patel Chowk metro stations, was declared the “Metro Man” of the year 2009-10. Dilshad Garden station was adjudged the “Best Metro Station”.

Blackberry’s 26 Advantages over iPhone

We all have numerous good reasons to love our iPhone. It revolutionized the handheld business with its AppStore and ease of use interface. Apple (AAPL) will continue to gain ground, and further innovations to its iPhone product portfolio could accelerate its growth even further. The synergies with the Mac computers and the Apple Stores themselves, are real and material.
The advantages of the iPhone are mostly immediately visible. Its differentiating characteristics are extroverted, shouting them right into your face. For the casual observer, these iPhone advantages are very compelling when comparing it to its main rival to date, the Blackberry. However, Blackberry also has numerous advantages, almost all of which are “behind the scenes” and therefore often beyond the comprehension or attention span of most consumers to fully analyze before a purchase decision is made.
One is tempted to draw a political analogy – the flamboyant candidate with the eloquent rhetoric, versus the “boring” candidate focusing on the substance of the intellectual argument. The analogy fails in part as far as the iPhone is concerned, because its “superficial” advantages are real. However, the analogy holds as far as the Blackberry is concerned, because its advantages require a more serious intellectual analysis by the consumer in order to be fully appreciated. For this reason, it is possible that Research In Motion (RIMM) is underestimated as a force in the consumer market as well as the stock market.
Seeing as we already know the strong advantages of the iPhone, ranging from the class-leading AppStore to its beautiful and easy-to-use interface, it is about time that someone lists the advantages of the Blackberry when compared to the iPhone. Below are the top 26:

1. Blackberry can be used on almost every carrier in the world (over 475 of them). In the US, the iPhone is available on AT&T (T) only.
2. Blackberry is available in five form factors – small keyboard, large keyboard, no keyboard, flip phone, and candy-bar.
3. Most Blackberries have keyboards, so you can actually type fast and with no errors. Helps while driving, walking, carrying something in your other hand – all the time. iPhone: well…
4. Blackberry uses standardized (=inexpensive and available everywhere in the world) MicroUSB connector for synchronization/charging. iPhone has a much larger proprietary 30-pin connector.

NOKIA X1-01 Review

For the official need of a phone without a camera. I searched and found this the best alternative. Apart from complying with office norms this can give me dual-sim, 16GB music storage & Nice MP3 player. That too for a cheap price is definitely a plus for me! And thus its a good back-up phone option as per me. ;)

Nowadays we all need more than one-Sim to communicate with our friends and families. In recent times every mobile operator comes with some unique plan like 1paisa/2sec and many more. So if we use more than 1 Sim then, we can save lots of money to our monthly expenses.
While selecting a Dual-Sim phone we have to consider few things like Good powerful Battery, Dual-Standby, Dual-Active(Costs higher than basic Dual-Sim) and some basic features.

For the past few month I am looking for basic Dual-Sim phone@2K that will act as a backup phone with Nokia 5233.While searching on the website like flipkart and letsbuy, my eyes stopped at two handset, Samsung E1252 and Nokia X1-01.Samsung E1252 was better but its not available here in Kolkata. So I have no choice to consider Nokia X1-01.

Who said Jism2 is hot?! ;)

Well of coarse there is much of a hype going around about the latest Bollywood release of Sunny Leone, Jism2. This is her debut in Bollywood. Well we all know the reasons for excitement! xD Our dear Leone has done quiet a lot of talented movies and is really popular (at least amongst boys! ;) ) Also we must thank our Indian television for promoting Miss. Leone via reality shows like Bigg Boss! Even the guys (like me?! :P ) who were unfamiliar with Miss. SL have seen their movies now just to know why she is so popular and hyped! :D

But my point here of writing this post is only this that we should not rate her roles like those in Jism2 as hot! Really Indian censor board should give this movie a U rather than a A! :P :D ;)
After watching any of her talented acts in her "Original" area of expertise, these movies like Jism2 can never seem to be Adult! xD

So those who are skeptical of movie being Adult or too hot to handle or those who wanna prepare themselves mentally to be able to watch Jism2, try getting one of those 'legendary' movies of hers and all your doubts as well as fears will vanish and you will find Jism2 a U rated family movie. xD ;)

Well many of us have almost certainly noticed this thing, but still there might be few who are not aware, so let me bring to light the simple yet fun approach of Google in YouTube!
Whenever you open YouTube and started to buffer your favorite vid, if you have a slow connection, then you must have seen a loading animation in the center of screen like few dots rotating in a circle. Well here is a tip for you all, if you are really desperately waiting for your favorite vid to load and buffer up to be played you can utilize your time in that moment as well! When that circle is still spinning try pressing any direction key on your keyboard and wollla! That circle of dots becomes a snake! The old-school game of snake introduced by Nokia. :D Njoy!! ;)

WordPress and Blogger are huge rivals in blogging platforms and if you can’t make a choice, this post might help you. Here are facts about both of those platforms that might help you to choose one of them. Both platforms are free and both are very good to make free blogs which could be used for various purposes, but yet it give to your blog a professional look and a lot of other features.
Design – WordPress wins!

If you prefer design over SEO (Search Engine Optimization) then WordPress is right choice for you.
Let me explain why is WordPress better.
WordPress offers a lot of great themes and much more than Blogger. Blogger offers a couple of free templates but I think that’s incomparable to a huge number of free templates which WordPress free blogging platform offers.

WordPress offers some widgets but bloggers does so too. They are quite same when widgets comes to widgets and accessories.

So you are here.. With a question in mind.. That's quiet obvious.. Well yeah in terms of mobile OS or smartphone platform, it is a common query of masses.. Go with plenty of features in Android, iOS, Windows or go for a Blackberry? Well, you are welcome! ;)

Before we proceed, Here is an incident that happened somewhere in Memorial Rose Garden, Missoula, US around two years back..

Android, apple & blackberry were chatting in the garden..

Apple: I am the greatest! I have all the great apps & largest App-store. I am the leader to innovate the latest features & newest hardware. I give the best OS integration. I am always the first, I rule the smartphone world!

Android: Easy big boy! I am the one who follows all your smartness and implement your features better than you! I am from Google, and Google never leaves any game without winning! And hey! I am 'open source' hence I am free!

Blackberry: (Suddenly got distracted by the argument, takes out his earphones) Hey! whats wrong? can't you let me enjoy my music?

BB: Relax boys I got RIM servers! ;) That you can never have...

Well well lets come back to my post in here. (Yeah you too dear, close your mouth and stop admiring your Blackberry! )
The Blackberry love will always exist & so will the camp of Blackberry Boys (As the brand coined it).
Personally I feel people are just making RIM folks richer and all this BBM stuff is quiet unnecessary and very much over-priced! Why spending such bucks for a BBM when you can get that for a drastically smaller price, or may be free?! Yeah I heard you! Secure... Un-hackable... private... bla-bla... @$*%^@&*
well we will see all that, in a few moments! ;) :D
First let me share this hilarious comic strip with you all-

Certainly in the coming future I wouldn't be surprised to see people distinguished not on the bases of caste or religion but Smartphone Type!

Let's see what this fuzz is all about. Basically RIM is facing a serious competition in west, that is dominated by Apple and Android and small market share held by Windows as well. RIM is running good business in Asian markets specially Indonesia. Revenue of RIM is getting down each year, thanks to Apple and Android! Given that the security of its devices and BES messaging infrastructure is one of the few competitive advantages RIM has left over its rivals in the crowded smartphone space, any compromise would be disastrous for the firm.

When you go out and compare the smartphones in terms of their smartness! Their hardware specification as well as the power of operating system such as Android or Apple with all the variety of Apps available at App stores, BB is clearly missing on many points.
It really don't even stand in same lines to be compared when we talk of iPhone or latest Android Jelly-Bean! (I am not sure if Jelly bean is out on mobiles yet) , still going for a BB just for the divine RIM servers?! :P

Moreover OS like Android offer a lot to tweak & customize in contrast to others, you can Root (Google this!) your phone and make it a Rocket-Launcher! xD

Whats the definition of safe? After all RIM servers are also hard-disks, platters and magnetic heads at the end! :D How can they guarantee you safety? Material things can all fail, they are not eternal!
Moreover all the bbm replacement apps available for cross platform OS users like whatsapp, kik (Kik, the hot new messaging app that racked up a million users in a couple of weeks and then got called out for covertly harvesting users' contacts, has now been completely banned from RIM's BlackBerry App World. RIM announced it was booting Kik over "breached contractual obligations," and that it has terminated all agreements with Kik and stopped supporting the service. ), pingchat, chatplus etc are also available so you don't die without bbm! :D In-fact talking realistic, in true sense even using a software like Whatsapp that is fairly cheaper than bbm and is also quiet secure, instant, cross-platform (for Apple, Android, Windows, Nokia & even Blackberry!) and private, instead of using a bbm, your chances of getting hacked or your private data being stolen are quiet the same and that too is almost certainly never going to happen!! So whats the practicality in using a bbm (or I must say spending huge bucks for bbm & making RIM folks rich! xD ) !?
Not any intention to hurt the faith of all Blackberry-boys! :P Here is a link I would share that proves clearly that nothing is 'private', 'hack-proof', or out of reach from other's hands. Not even RIM servers!

I believe technology has advanced a lot till date and instead of paying heavily or even pirating, another world of 'open source' software has emerged greatly, we can follow that, and personally, I am a big supporter for 'open-source'. People can donate in such projects as much and whatever they want to, and these open-source guys are still surviving nicely! (See Wikipedia) then why make these MNC like RIM richer unnecessarily? You got money? Do charity! :D

Now to keep my post interesting and not being too informative, I am omitting too many references and news-articles about RIM getting hacked or RIM being down on service! :P You can Google yourself many! :P I must state here, by mentioning all this I am not going against RIM (so please don't grab my neck RIM! :P) or Blackberry, I am just sharing my opinion that for the right of being in touch and messaging services, RIM is charging large amount, and it is quiet unnecessary in today's world of 'open source' and other fairly cheaper options available. Also this BBM service is a flagship of Blackberry and can not be used beyond their OS, where as Apple and Android have really much better to offer in terms of features and hardware as compared to BB and thus restricting BBM to Blackberry is a serious disadvantage or may be the only hope left for Blackberry to keep selling there phones, ie RIM servers! ;)

Thus in my opinion not only slashing down RIM's subscription charges & making BBM cross-platform compatible, but also focusing on improving OS features to match with those of Android & iOS and providing a better feature-rich hardware can save BlackBerry from its deathbed !! :P

Apple's iOS has it's own version of BBM or a personal messaging service for other iOS users its called- "iMessage".. It is far sophisticated from a BBM (iMessage is actually integrated into the iOS messages app, meaning it will automatically switch to SMS mode, which looks and feels identical, if the recipient doesn’t have iMessage active)
And Google is working on a similar 'BBM kin' for Android!

After a looong while I took the pen again! (Well not literally :P )

Thanks for being an avid reader of my blog. And apologies for keeping you all waiting, it's been a long while that i have written, created or shared any new or interesting post! Here I go to sum up in short what was happening in my life for the past months. :)

At last after a long and patient waiting, I got my joining date at Tata consultancy services as 29th of March, 2011. I did not even realized the transition from job searching phase to the employed phase as this all happened so soo fast!! There was a time after college I was involved in giving interviews and getting selected in various companies and now finally I am all set to join my preferred one! I say preferred one as in those days I was high on luck and time was with me.. whatever interview I gave I just cracked it in a go.. I got selected in 5 companies.. worked for about 1-2 days in 2 of em and then left as I didn't liked.. :D.. this includes my selection in Infosys...

I was all set and googled out about the place and hangout zones of Coimbatore, my proposed training location. Initially I was in an impression that being a small city it would not be a much fun experience there, but clearly I was just anticipating. Coimbatore despite of not having a proper TCS campus for training, was the best ILP city, I believe! Many groups were made at facebook and me myself created a few to gather up all the TCS joinees for the same place ie Coimbatore. We began chatting and got to know each other.. many friends were found over Facebook only months before we were actually gonna meet up! Then the day came, preparing for documents and online preparation, what TCS made us do, finally the day has come! I was at airport in Delhi where my flight was to leave for Coimbatore... In the airport itself many of us recognized each other by the Display-Pics of FB ;)... and also noticed the best gals accompanying our flight.. ;) the journey has begun...

I had a blast at Coimbatore.. beyond the learning at ILP (Initial learning Process @TCS), found many sweet memories.. many new life's experiences.. many new friends and explored many new places too!..

It was just a beginning to experience life's love, hate, anguish, competition, struggle, hardships, adventure, fun, exploration and yes the corporate world!...

At ILP it was just like a paid vacations that we were having, far away from life's all the hard sides.. only fun and 3 months in heaven...

I never expected to not to get my preferred place of joining, infact I was so sure and confident to get Delhi, that I was least bothered.. My preferences that I filled up were: 1. Delhi 2. Bangalore 3. Mumbai... and guess what.. I got Mumbai! :D It was a clear shock at the beginning...

Still I was not aware of .. what was gonna happen.. the real suspense! All the days of work and massti @ ILP passsed out... all the TRs (Technical reviews), ECs & Case studies passed over... mixed with fear, anxiety, and adventure... the last day of ILP came as well.. with mixed emotions and sad feelings we have to left the place... that surprisingly we started to love a lot! Many things left at Coimbatore to miss.. many sweet memories.. many sweet people... many lovely places.. to name a few.. Glacier's park, Bombay trombay, That's why food, The Delhi wala, Brookfield Mall, Gandhinagar, Cross cut road, Sri sabri towers (Girls accommodation hotel! ;) :D ) Also I was sad of not getting my base location as Delhi, my home.. But still I was quiet excited to explore Mumbai.

The day has come on 1st July, 2011 was my flight from Coimbatore to Mumbai. I was accompanied by my roommate of ILP and we were so excited about Mumbai!...
Then the days of struggle, the hard days began... Reaching Mumbai I realized how a busy and big city life is... Delhi don't even stands in comparison... so much crowd.. so much traffic.... highly populous, overcrowded local train compartments... Gosh! I would never complain about crowd in Delhi metro again, it was not even half of what Mumbai locals have, you can't even turn 180 degree it is so much packed!! :D Above this Mumbai's crowd the city was too expensive, to get a proper meal you have to shed 200 bucks a minimum.. Eating out and living in Hotels in the first 10 days I spent around 10,000 bucks or more... Those were quiet a bad days I can say, till we looked out for an apartment and got settled in the city.. there were many issues even for small things... one can not get a local SIM card even without a "Local" Mumbai's document! :D Even passport was not working... later on we managed to get from the direct Reliance shop and Vodafone stores..

Office life was not a piece of cake as the ILP was!.. I faced the shit of corporate world and the bloody politics in the project teams and work culture.. I got a best project in Java so soon... but the atmosphere and team members were so bad... or I was just new to getting used to what usually happens in IT world! ;)... I switched one project... got another... that too core Java developement, considered too good... then unfortunately or fortunately (only time will tell)... I am released from that project too... right now I am enjoying the "sitting on bench" phase and getting salary without regularly requiring to go to office... :D
Waiting for my next allocation lets see what and when I get it... But one thing I have realised that in TCS your job is safe... it is thats why truely called ... "a sarkari company!"... :D

- Well only about 40% images are still available on Facebook, so I will append some good images here in the post itself soon, sad part is my hard disk is locked I need to get the data recovered from an expert to access those lovely images, so kindly bear with me! :P

- I have successfully completed an year in TCS with a good performance rating. :-)

Who is the BEST - Infosys, Wipro or TCS?

One day, three consultants, one from Wipro, one from Infosys and one from TCS, went out for a walk.

Wipro guy: "Why don`t we prove who is the best among ourselves?"

Why not, said the other two.

The Infosian said "Let`s have a test. Whoever makes this monkey laugh, works for the best firm".
Being a pure logical strategist, the person from Infosys tried to make the monkey Laugh by telling jokes. The monkey stayed still.

As a more practical consultant, the Wipro guy tried to make funny gestures... No good, the monkey stayed put...

Now, comes the TCSer. Being the practical guy he was always trained to be, he whispered something into the monkey`s ear, and it burst out laughing at him..

The other two were astonished. So the Wipro guy said "OK, let`s take another test. Let`s make this monkey cry!!"

So there they went again, applying the same methods as before. The Infosian guy narrated sad stories, the Wipro guy made sad gestures, and they failed again...

Then, the TCSer again whispered something into the monkey`s ear and oh! It started crying, patting the TCSer shoulder!

The other two just could not believe their eyes! So the Infosian guy said "OK, you`ve won twice. If you can win just this one, we will bow to you. Let`s make this monkey run".

And he barked at the monkey and ordered him to run. Of course, it stayed where it was.. The Wipro guy, true to his type, pushed and prodded the monkey- still No go.

So...here comes TCSer, again, and whispers into the monkey`s ear. The Monkey just takes off! It runs and runs as fast as it can

The other two surrendered.

They Said: "OK, we give up.

You`re the best among us, and you work for the Best firm of the three. But please, please tell us your secret," they begged him.

"Well", said the TCSer , "The first time I made it laugh, I told I work for TCS . The next time, I told the monkey how much I get paid ...so it started crying.

And then I told that I was here for recruitment !!!

It's half past 8 in the office but the lights are still on...
PCs still running, coffee machines still buzzing...
And who's at work? Most of them ??? Take a closer look...

All or most specimens are ??

Look closer... again all or most of them are bachelors...

And why are they sitting late? Working hard? No way!!!
Any guesses???
Let's ask one of them...
Here's what he says... 'What's there 2 do after going home...Here we get to surf, AC, phone, food, coffee that is why I am working late...Importantly no bossssssss!!!!!!!!!!!'

This is the scene in most research centers and software companies and other off-shore offices.

Bachelors 'Time-passing' during late hours in the office just bcoz they say they've nothing else to do...
Now what r the consequences...

'Working' (for the record only) late hours soon becomes part of the institute or company culture.

With bosses more than eager to provide support to those 'working' late in the form of taxi vouchers, food vouchers and of course good feedback, (oh, he's a hard worker... goes home only to change..!!).
They aren't helping things too...

To hell with bosses who don't understand the difference between 'sitting' late and 'working' late!!!

Very soon, the boss start expecting all employees to put in extra working hours.

So, My dear Bachelors let me tell you, life changes when u get married and start having a family... office is no longer a priority, family is... and
That's when the problem starts... b'coz u start having commitments at home too.

For your boss, the earlier 'hardworking' guy suddenly seems to become a 'early leaver' even if u leave an hour after regular time... after doing the same amount of work.

People leaving on time after doing their tasks for the day are labelled as work-shirkers...

Girls who thankfully always (its changing nowadays... though) leave on time are labelled as 'not up to it'. All the while, the bachelors pat their own backs and carry on 'working' not realizing that they r spoiling the work culture at their own place and never realize that they would have to regret at one point of time.

So what's the moral of the story??
* Very clear, LEAVE ON TIME!!!
* Never put in extra time ' unless really needed '
* Don't stay back unnecessarily and spoil your company work culture which will in turn cause inconvenience to you and your colleagues.

There are hundred other things to do in the evening..

Learn music....

Learn a foreign language...

Try a sport... TT, cricket..........

Importantly,get a girl friend or boy friend, take him/her around town...

* And for heaven's sake, net cafe rates have dropped to an all-time low (plus, no fire-walls) and try cooking for a change.

Take a tip from the Smirnoff ad: *'Life's calling, where are you??'*

Please pass on this message to all those colleagues and please do it before leaving time, don't stay back till midnight to forward this!!!

IT'S A TYPICAL INDIAN MENTALITY THAT WORKING FOR LONG HOURS MEANS VERY HARD WORKING & 100% COMMITMENT ETC..

PEOPLE WHO REGULARLY SIT LATE IN THE OFFICE DON'T KNOW TO MANAGE THEIR TIME. SIMPLE !

Running Android 2.1 Andro offers 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS and 2.8-inch full touchscreen

Yesterday, we reported about Micromax to unveil its first Android phone - Andro. Now concrete details about Micromax Andro smartphone running Google Android 2.1 Eclair update come from Micromax Delhi Bloggers Meet. Micromax Andro A60 is a full touch-screen smartphone that will feature 2.8-inch touch screen. Sporting a 600MHz CPU this Android smartphone will be available in India starting next month for a price of less than Rs. 8000. We ll try to get the exact figure but it s certainly will be less that that figure.

Coming from India s third largest mobile phone vendor, Micromax Andro takes a leap into Android phones under Rs. 10,000 bracket. Andro has 2.8-inch touchscreen supporting 320x240 pixel resolution which might not please the mobile fanatics but average joe might be happy with it. With dual-band GSM support this smartphone will be 3G ready and promises up to 7.2Mbps speeds via HSUPA and up to 5.76 speeds via HSDPA. Micromax has added even Wi-Fi for wireless connectivity but there was no mention of Bluetooth.

Micromax s Android debut Andro comes with GPS which is quite interesting for an Android handset priced for less than 8K.With measly 150MB internal memory one can add up to 32GB memory card. The phone offers 3.2 megapixel camera with Auto-focus. You can also record video but don t expect amazing quality. Andro A60 will also sport Accelerator and gravity sensor for users to enjoy the light weight Android-platform based games

Most worrisome part of Andro A60 is the 1280 mAh Lithium-Ion battery that promises just 4 hours of talk time. Now I am not sure if this is going to be a Dual-SIM phone. But it may get some attraction from users to check out the new operating system - Android. Only after getting our hands on to Andro A60 we can say whether it would be a worth competitor to Samsung Galaxy 5 GT-i5503. Like it or not, Android is slowly seeping into entry-level handsets for letting users get used with Android as new mobiel operating system.
