Remembering Jonathan Brandis

Does anyone of you remember Jonathan Brandis?

The famous young star who got noticed on NBC series SeaQuest DSV' and has his first starring role in the movie “Never Ending Story II: The Next Chapter back in the 90's?

Well, this might be a shock to you – I was a fan back then but it was only NOW that I discovered he had DIED last 2003! Approximately 9 years ago! Oh my! How can I miss that? Urgh! I even had a sketch of his face on my art class!

I was just reminiscing my teenage life back in the 90’s when I suddenly remember him and thought of browsing the internet about his where about. Unfortunately, the internet directed me to same article stating that he committed suicide last 2003.

Here are some of the excerpts from from Wikipedia:

“On November 12, 2003, Brandis died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles from injuries he suffered after he hanged himself. He was 27 years old”

Most of the articles where stating the reason for his suicide was depression and the drug he is taking for medication might have altered his mood and pull off his suicidal tendencies. He got depressed because of his lagging career. Urgh! Now, I understand why some of our “famous-then” celebrities suffered same fate as well. Drugs. Alcohol and fame don’t mixed well with humans. Very sad..:(

A Big Fan of the Backstreet Boys

Believe it or not, I was a big crazy fan of The Backstreet Boys way back my high school days. You might have guess now that I belong to 90’s generation where all the sort of boy bands sprouted and not to mention the every cute girl bands back then. I consider myself crazy because I was the type of teenage girl then who buys a lot of posters, cassette tapes and even unoriginal photos of them on a magazine stand. Lol! I am also the type who watches the MTV (Music Television Channel), which I’m not sure if it still exists and spends almost the whole day just to watch Backstreet Boy’s videos. Lol!

Here is a photo of one of the posted I bought in a local magazine store near our place then. I also got myself a cassette tape of their first ever album and honestly when I bought the album I never thought they will make it big after many months in the music air.

One of my favorite singles they had then was “Quit Playing Games with my Heart” and “Anywhere for You” ( w/c I sang the Spanish version of it ). Do you still remember those songs? Well, I hope you do for they have touched a lot of young hearts – especially because the young cutie Nick Carter was always posing some awesome move on their music videos! Lol! Oh, that was the past where I was still young, wild and free. :)

Lady Gaga Hit With Class Action Suit Over Japan Charity Bracelets

Lady Gaga has once again found herself the center of controversy, but this time it has nothing to do with a meat-based outfit or accusations of Madonna worship. Instead, Gaga has been hit with a class action lawsuit claiming that the singer improperly profited from the "We Pray For Japan" bracelets that she sold through her official website to raise funds for Japanese earthquake victims, NBCDFW.com reports. All proceeds from the sale of the $5 bracelets were supposed to go directly to Japan relief efforts; however, a law firm accuses Gaga and her team of adding unnecessary tax and overcharging for shipping to profit from the charity items.

The class action suit, filed by Detroit's 1-800-LAW-FIRM, arrives just as Lady Gaga was in Tokyo this Saturday to perform at the MTV Video Music Aid Japan show, which also raised relief funds for the tsunami-ravaged nation. In the suit, Gaga is accused of violating federal racketeering laws and consumer protection laws by not only charging tax on a charity item and inflating shipping costs, but by also including whatever money the pop star's team pocketed from the bracelet sales as part of their donation fee to artificially inflate the figures. The firm has posted the complaint and this video (which, frankly, doesn't do a lot to enhance the credibility of a law firm branded with an 800 number by inviting viewers to follow a #gagascam hashtag on Twitter) attempting to explain the "Shady Gaga" suit on its website:

"When we tried to communicate with the defendants in this lawsuit, all we got was, 'well, some of the money is being retained, but we don't really know how much,'" 1-800 -LAW-FIRM's Alyson Oliver told My Fox Detroit. Gaga is within her rights to keep some of the money from the bracelets; all proceeds from their sales went to helping Japan, but the production of the bracelets wasn't going to pay for itself, and it's unfair for Gaga to assume that cost herself. However, if it's found that she did actually profit of the sale of the charity bracelets, then that's a major PR (and potentially legal) problem waiting to happen. When contacted by The Amp, Gaga's reps had no comment on the allegations.

The class action lawsuit potentially casts a shadow on Lady Gaga's Japanese relief efforts, which is a shame since Gaga has gone above and beyond the call of duty in lending support to the country. She's spent the last week in Tokyo and has served as a one-woman tourism bureau by using her Twitter account to encourage fans to visit the country. In addition to the bracelets and the MTV performance, she's also designed a Uniqlo t-shirt to raise money for tsunami relief.

Gaga's not the only concerned musician who's been suspected of personally profiting from charity funds: Last year, Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti Foundation was accused of questionable accounting practices in handling millions of dollars in relief donations for a post-earthquake Haiti, accusations he called "baseless attacks." But unlike the current Gaga situation, no class action lawsuit was filed, nor self-promotional YouTube video filmed.

Paris Hilton, Beau Cy Waits Call It Quits

Not-so-hot: Paris Hilton is single again. After about a year together, the celebutante and beau Cy Waits have called it quits, multiple insiders confirm to Us Weekly.

"They are broken up," one pal tells Us of Hilton, 30, and Vegas club owner Waits. "It's sad, she cares about him a lot and thinks he's a great guy but they really hit a rough patch."

Hilton and her rep had no comment.

The reality star and Waits stepped out in late spring 2010, shortly after her final split from former Hills star Douglas Reinhardt. Explains the friend: "[Cy's] found it difficult to live his life with her in the spotlight and that's what caused their split. No drama, it's amicable, but things didn't work out."

Indeed, life as Hilton's beau was never low-key: Back in August, Waits was at Hilton's side when she was arrested for cocaine possession at a traffic stop in Las Vegas. The couple presented a united front this past April, when Waits accompanied Hilton as she testified against an alleged home intruder in an L.A. court. An overzealous fans threw water in Waits' faced and grabbed him by the neck before Hilton's security team intervened.
