Our decision-support tool is currently planted on the Ste Marthe Ecological Transition Third Place of the SCIC T.E.T.R.I.S while waiting for the fielding at our partner farmers in September.

The spanish everlasting flower is a variety of Helichrysum that only grows in Andalucia (Spain), in particular in the Doñana national park. The everlasting Picardii has branched, twisted stems with elongated, narrow leaves forming silver-green bushes covered with fuzz. The flowers are grouped into terminal panaches at the top of the stems. They illuminate with a brilliant sun yellow the grayish hardwood beds.

The harvest zone for our sector is located in the Huanta region, subject to stormy rains. It has good fertility and yields fleshy and well-formed fruit. Collectors follow different steps in order to harvest in the best conditions. The harvest is currently in progress with about 30% of the total expected volume at the end of harvest. Picking of pink peppercorns has been delayed as the maize and tara harvests take priority.

This year, we went with our agricultural partner in setting up a still to distil the freshly picked roses. Another step in the transfer of know-how between Albert Vieille SA and its Var agricultural partner. "Distilling the rose water with my own still is a goal since the beginning of the rose garden. It is very gratifying to control the rose from the nursery to the transformation into quality organic water" - Didier Michel, PPAM grower in Correns.

Every morning from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m., flower pickers pick the day’s open flowers by hand with the dew. “The harvest is the result of a year’s work”, Barbara Thaneron and her student organic perfume plant growers in Grasse told us emotionally.

Frankincense essential oil is best known for its healing properties which can be used for treating wounds. It also acts as an anti-inflammatory and an anti-depressant*. It is characterised by notes of resin, wood and spice. Frankincense gum is converted into essential oil by hydrodistillation at our production centre in Spain. The main molecules are alpha-pinene (40%-51%), limonene (11-20%) and myrcene (4-7%).

Myrrh : an Albert Vieille speciality

We transform myrrh gums into resinoid and essential oil in our production center in Spain.

Myrrh resinoid has syrupy notes reminiscent of licorice sticks, as well as resinous, humic, woody, and saffron-like facets. It is commonly used as a base note in oriental accords. Myrrh resinoid is produced through extraction with ethanol of the gum. The principal molecules are furanoeudesma-1,3-diene (30-52%), curzarene (10-30%), and lindestrene (5-13%).

This year the Chamomile Roman production is abundant. There are only 20 days to harvest this white lady and extract its so appreciated essential oil. In the Po lowland, in Italy, the exclusive harvest for Albert Vieille, is booming since the 6th of July. Albert Vieille has developed a partnership with Italian farmers, in the Piemont territory, gathering several hectares, for five years.

The cistus and labdanum products our company supplies are created from the botanical variety Cistus ladaniferus var beta maculatus Dun, which grows wild in the Sierra Norte Regional Park. This natural protected area north of the Province of Seville, Andalusia, Spain, is home to a diverse ecosystem composed of a multitude of aromatic plants. Among these is the cistus ladanifer, exuding an amber-like fragrance that perfumes the scrub from June to October.

In 2015, at our production site nestled in the vast fields surrounding the village of Almaden de la Plata, Spain, cistus labdanum production continues to gain momentum. The harvest began sooner this year than last year because of the hot weather this past spring. As early as June, the cistus plants were already heavily laden with gum to withstand the scorching heat of the sun’s rays.

The processing stage that turns Turkish rose concrete into absolute is in full swing at our production units. We plan to double our quantities in 2015, despite reduced harvests in Turkey. As a late frost in April damaged over 20% of buds in the flower fields of the Isparta region, the available quantities of Rosa damascena absolute are in decline this year.
