Grow your own fresh produce.

Believe it or not, it doesn’t take much space to grow your own fresh herbs and vegetables. Container gardening is a big deal in urban areas like Atlanta and they will improve your diet and help keep your wallet full. The balconies at Alexan MetroWest could be the perfect spot.

What to consider before planting.

Even if your space is tiny, you can still garden. Think of your space three dimensionally. Can you use hangers? Can you build a small shelf to place plants on different levels? There are many ways to maximize the space you have available.

The Atlanta Food Truck Park opens April 26.

The latest food trend in Atlanta may have a tailgate on it. Food trucks are popping up all over the city and some are putting down roots at the Atlanta Food Truck Park and Market. Now you can visit a permanent location for your favorites only two miles away from your Alexan MetroWest apartment.

This is the first permanent food truck site in Atlanta with 10-15 food trucks ready to serve visitors seven days a week. The Grand Opening of the Atlanta Food Truck Park and Market opens Thursday, April 26.

Sweet Auburn Barbecue, Yumbii and Tex’s Tacos will be permanent vendors in addition to Honeysuckly Gelato, Nana G’s, Chick-n-Waffles, Yum Yum Cupcake and more who will rotate.

The Food Truck Park is located at 1850 Howell Mill Road, on the site of an old hotel, which co-owners Howard Hsu and Brian Harvin fashioned to resemble food truck parks found in Austin, TX.

After much cleanup, landscaping and sweat, the park now features 2,000 square feet of covered and open-air dining, 1.5 acres of green space and a lawn for movies and live music.

This will surely be the best way to sample some of the more unique eateries Atlanta, GA, has to offer close to Alexan MetroWest.

Dust off those clubs and get to the Bobby Jones Golf Course.

The Bobby Jones Golf Course, only 3 miles from your new home at Alexan MetroWest, offers a newly renovated course, beautiful scenery and a challenge. Green fees cost between $23 and $45. It’s time to play golf.

Renovations took place less than a year ago with new Champion Bermuda greens, but the course itself was constructed in 1932. In fact, this facility’s history dates back to the Civil War and The Battle of Peachtree Creek, one of the most important battles of the war. The battle actually took place in the valley surrounding the clubhouse.

Today, the battlefield is a meandering, tree-lined gem of a golf course with elevated tees that offer scenic views of midtown Atlanta. Skilled golfers will be challenged with tightly placed greens, but the wide open fairways makes things a little easier for all golfers.

If you like to get spirited then you know where there is SweetWater beer, there is a party! Party hearty during this year’s 420 Fest which is at Candler Park–Atlanta, GA this year.

So what’s the deal with 420 anyway? 420 is a type of SweetWater Beer served throughout the event held on April 20th–the irony!!!

The rundown: 2 days of bands, brews and food! There is a full entertainment line-up, as well as sponsored beer tasting for attendees. This year, a comedy tent and a 5K race will be added to the itinerary of things to do.

Since, 4/20 is always close to the official celebration of Earth Day (4/22), the 420 festival isn’t all just about drinking beer.

Everyone gets  free admission for great live music in exchange for education about how each and every one of us can be a part of the solution! Festival goers who are 21+ and with a valid ID can purchase a $5 wristband to responsibly enjoy beer. Portion of Proceeds from wristband sales are donated to Park Pride (to benefit Candler Park).

And because, alcohol is involved, we suggest all our residents take the MARTA from our community–which is conveniently located close to the Arts Center & Midtown train stations!
