And with the countless Fort Lauderdale attractions like beaches, parks and business establishments, you will surely never run out of things to do in the area.The first place to visit when in Fort Lauderdale is the Intracoastal Waterway. There you can ride the all-time favorite “Water Taxi” that can take you around the coast and up to the New River for as long as you want.

If you are looking for top-notch artisan-created food without the hefty tab, give Gran Forno a try. It’s only one mile away from your Alexan Solmar apartment.

An entire Italian bakery was moved from Brescia (near Milan, Italy) to Florida and you can savor the tastes and aromas.

The Gran Forno bakes pane fresh every day so you can enjoy crusty pillows of ciabatta, mouthwatering fruit-topped focaccia or golden herb-flecked filone.

The best idea may be stopping in for lunch. The panini sandwiches are awesome and topping off that meal with a miniature pecan pie, custard filled fruit tart or chocolate fudge brownie isn’t a bad idea either. If you’re on the way to work in the morning have some biscotti with a hot cup of expresso or cappuccino.

This should be the first stop when shopping for your dinner party as well.

This shop offers wines from around the world, a dinner series that helps learn how to pair wine with food and an expert staff to guide you through wine selection.

May boasts a full schedule at Wine Watch, starting on May 9 with the Tuscan Wine Tasting. Wine Watch is partnering with Café Maxx and Tuscan Imports to try an excellent portfolio of wines from Tuscany. A chef will be on hand to prepare a few small courses to accompany the wines. Micro Beers, Bourbon and Burgers, Enough Said

One of Fort Lauderdale’s newest restaurants also figures to be one of the coolest hangouts for Alexan Solmar residents.

TAP42 owns a fantastic selection of craft beers, bourbons and burgers. Sean and Blaise McMackin created this trendy haunt by renovating the historic Brownie’s Bar, made famous by jazz performers such as Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong and countless other artists from the 30s and 40s.

So what type of bourbon and beer selection are we talking about? Well, as the name indicates, there are 42 taps, even more beer in bottles and 50 select bourbons. A tap encased in a block of ice dispenses premium tequilas and vodkas.

When you’re ready to eat, the menu features dishes created with simple ingredients, many of which are produced locally.

Nothing from the old Brownie’s Bar remains today, but TAP42 hopes to channel a few of those brilliant ghosts with live music and weekly events.

The Andrews Avenue location puts this hip new establishment right in the middle everything Ft. Lauderdale and if you make the short journey from Alexan Solmar, you (and your taste buds) will be rewarded.

Lauderdale has increased over the years; but Alexan Solmar has found a way to allow its residents to meet and know their neighbors personally! As the weather gets warmer we’re sure everyone will start coming out of their “winter caves,” so what’s better than a Community Happy Hour round up!

Our community hosts these happy hours a couple times a year, and now is a perfect time than any to do so! Residents, guests and prospects are invited on Thursday April 12th, 2012 to our Alexan Solmar Clubroom Lounge, where everyone can mix, mingle and meet all of the Alexan family!

Is this your first time to the festivities? Here’s what to expect: We always provide the refreshments and hors d’oeurves! Beer, wine & cheese are some of our menu staples!
