" title="Night pitch" /></p><p>The multi-purpose all-weather pitch near my flat in Ballycastle, lit up by flood lights.</p><p>You can just make out some ghostly figures moving around on the pitch.</p><p>I wasn&#8217;t sure how this would come out &#8211; being a HDR shot late at night using long exposures and a fairly narrow aperture. Perhaps there isn&#8217;t so much HDR at work here, but I think it did add something to the photo.</p><p>There was quite a bit of noise in the top half of the picture, but I dealt with that by just burning it all a bit darker, which had the advantage of giving extra focus to the pitch itself &#8211; a tiny island of light in the darkness!</p><p>Any thoughts or feedback, let me know in the comments.</p><p>Related posts:</p><ol><li><a

However this photo was fairly well focussed and I liked it enough to keep it.</p><p>I keep meaning to bring a load of bird feed down to the sea-shore and spend some time feeding the birds and taking photos. It was nearly dark when I finally gave up on the hope that there might be a break in the wet weather, and so I ventured forth with few opportunities to take photos in dry locations.</p><p>Even in this alleyway I struggled again the fine drizzle getting blow around and getting onto the lens.</p><p>This photo is a 3 exposure HDR shot taken between 10 and 30 second exposures with the aperture as narrow as it would go.</p><p>I&#8217;ve tried to retain a reasonably natural look to the photo. There&#8217;s a small walkway that extends along the coast heading north-west from Ballycastle Harbour.</p><p>It&#8217;s a beautiful spot with wonderful views of Fair Head and Rathlin Island.</p><p>This shot was actually taken through a wire fence, but a wide aperture and making sure the lens was as close to the fence without touching it allowed me to get away with it.</p><p>You can make out a very slight distortion in the sea just to the right of the very front of the boat.</p><p>Related posts:</p><ol><li><a
