				<div class="et_pb_text_inner"><h2>Here&#8217;s why you&#8217;re an &#8220;expert&#8221; who isn&#8217;t making money.</h2>

<h4>What if you are an expert and you still aren&#8217;t getting clients?</h4>
<p> </p>
<p>There are people that have published books out there, they&#8217;ve gotten a lot of attention, their publicists got them on these big publications, but guess what? They&#8217;re still broke.</p>
<p>I know they&#8217;re still broke cause broke experts actually exist.</p>
<p>So it got me thinking, is the goal to become an expert? Or is the goal something different, because a lot of us would want to be <em>the</em> expert. </p>
<p>We want to be recognized in the industry. And, and for those of you that do marketing, this is a lot of the language that you use. I&#8217;ve used it before. In fact, in my market, I still use it. Why? Because people think that that&#8217;s what they need.</p>
<p>So the question is, do you really need to be an expert? Is that really the goal that you should pursue? Is that really something that you shouldn&#8217;t want to strive for? </p>
<p>Listen, there are a lot of people that have the name recognition that are literally at the top of their industry that people go to for advice. And yet they <em>still</em> face financial challenges. And they <em>still</em> don&#8217;t have that consistency in their income and their business growth. </p>
<p>What I&#8217;m trying to say here is that just being an expert alone doesn&#8217;t always make you the revenue. Being at the highest echelon of your industry isn&#8217;t a guarantee that you&#8217;ll have business success.</p>

<h4>It takes you actually connecting and relating to the people that you serve.</h4>
<p>That&#8217;s it.</p>
<p>So here&#8217;s the thing, right now there are people that are certified that have all these degrees. They have masters degrees and their doctorates and they do what I do, they&#8217;re just not relating to their people the way I do. So I have an advantage, right? </p>
<h3>Here&#8217;s an example:</h3>
<p>I can think of two people that have a scientific approach to nutrition and healing the body. Oksana and Victoria are twins and they are amazing at what they do. Seriously Phenomenal.</p>
<p>They&#8217;ve had some major breakthroughs for their clients and when we first started working together about a year and a half ago, people couldn&#8217;t relate to them because it was just such a distance from your basic knowledge.</p>
<p>So in order for them to actually start making money they had to become more relatable, not necessarily become dumber, but they had to change their messaging approach. </p>
<p>They didn&#8217;t give up their expertise.</p>
<p>Perhaps you&#8217;re you smart and you&#8217;re on top of your game already, but if you&#8217;re not relating to your people, it doesn&#8217;t matter how much you know, how many certifications you have, how many degrees you have, or how much experience you have.</p>
<p>Crazy thing is, that&#8217;s how people are entering their market, trying to be the expert, being at the top of their game, studying and getting certifications and knowing so much. But if you&#8217;re not relating to your audience, if you&#8217;re not telling those stories that cause you to connect, if you&#8217;re not showing your vulnerabilities, then there&#8217;s a gap.</p>
<h4>If you don&#8217;t fill that gap, someone else will.</h4>
<p>And it doesn&#8217;t matter how much you know, people are not going to connect with your message. They&#8217;re not going to connect with you cause it&#8217;s not only about the knowledge or wisdom and experience you have. It&#8217;s about your way of packaging it up to making it inviting and welcoming to the people that you serve. </p>

<p>I can run circles around an expert because of my relatability. If you notice, I tell a lot of stories in my marketing, whether that&#8217;s email, whether that&#8217;s social or any Facebook lives in my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/coachgrowers/">Facebook group</a> and on <a href="http://alexnavas.com/">my site.</a> </p>
<p>I talk about 2007 and 2008 when we lost our home through foreclosure. I talk about our second business and how we had to get rid of it. I talk about all these vulnerabilities. Why? Because people want to know that they, they can relate to somebody.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re looking to really establish yourself in your market place, let go of the &#8220;expert&#8221; complex and start connecting to people.</p>
<p>The best route to take is being relatable to your audience.</p>

<p>At this point, you&#8217;re not getting the business that you want. You&#8217;re not getting the revenue that you want. </p>
<p>What I want to dive into is leveling your offers and creating your market positioning strategy.</p>
<p>So right now you&#8217;re probably trying to price, right? You&#8217;re trying to get the right clients, you&#8217;re trying to work with a certain set of people in the right way and get massive results, but you&#8217;re doing it the wrong way. That started from the very beginning and it&#8217;s how you operate your business.</p>

<p>So level one is when you&#8217;re trying to sell or transfer information. What you&#8217;re doing is you&#8217;re actually educating people. They&#8217;re gaining a certain skill or they&#8217;re understanding a certain concept.</p>
<p>But at this level, you&#8217;re exchanging money for information and because information is so readily available, then it&#8217;s not really going to be priced at a premium, right? Because it&#8217;s just information.</p>
<p>I could go get it for free, but sometimes I&#8217;ll just pay somebody. I don&#8217;t necessarily have an urgency. BUT, if there&#8217;s a little bit more urgency, then I start moving into level two and every level here will dictate a certain investment from your clients depending on your market positioning strategy.</p>
<p> </p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Level two is all about trading money. Now they&#8217;re exchanging money for a <em>specific transaction.</em></p>
<p>For example, I used to do websites. I used to have a marketing agency, and at the transactional level, people would pay me for a website.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">They paid me for a marketing firm. They paid me to do the ads. It was transactional. It was <em>you pay me and I deliver something to you.</em></p>
<p>This is something tangible.</p>
<p>Oftentimes at that transaction level, it&#8217;s more valuable than information because I&#8217;m not just giving them something to learn, I&#8217;m giving them something they can actually implement. I&#8217;m giving them a process, metrics, documentation, business practices, etc. I&#8217;m giving them something that they otherwise would not have been able to achieve,  OR would have achieved with very different and less satisfactory results. </p>

<h3><strong>And so we step up to this next phase.</strong></h3>
<p>The third phase is where you start tapping into this idea of serving people at a premium level. Why? Because it&#8217;s not just a piece of information anymore. You&#8217;re not just doing it for a transaction. You&#8217;re actually doing it for <em>transformation.</em></p>
<p>That&#8217;s where people are willing to pay and invest money because now what you&#8217;re doing is not just educating them.</p>
<p>You&#8217;re not just exchanging a skill, but you&#8217;re actually empowering them to get a result,</p>
<p>This transformational level is helping people see your value. Recognizing that the thing that you deliver, the transformation that you deliver is a means to an end. And in order for this level to bring the greatest impact you need to identify what the end is for them.</p>
<p>What do they want to accomplish?</p>
<p>What do they want out of this thing?</p>
<h4>Think about this:</h4>
<p>Today, there are tons of videos showing you how to build a website and guess what? Many people still don&#8217;t have a website. So that will tell you that it&#8217;s not just about the information.</p>
<p>There are template hubs out there. There are places you can go and download certain designs. There are places that you can get access to resources to help you build your website a lot faster, and yet it doesn&#8217;t guarantee that they&#8217;re going to have revenue producing websites.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s where you come in. You give them what they need to get the outcome, to empower them to get the results right. </p>
<p>I would tell people, sure you can create your own website. But it&#8217;s going to take you three times longer than someone like me who works intuitively and effectively. Essentially I am saving you the time it takes to learn how to manipulate a template, the time it takes to edit your site in the way you want, and the time it takes to fix anything that goes wrong with it. By saving you time, I&#8217;m making you money. </p>
<h4>See the transformation?</h4>
<p>We want to make sure that every life we touch is impacted, is improved and has elevated to a higher level, to a new opportunity in their lives that they never had access to before. </p>
<p>This is all about leveling up your offers and perfecting your market positioning strategy. </p>
<p>Because in the end, I want to be somebody that really impacts people&#8217;s lives. That&#8217;s where I went to operate from.</p>
<p>I want to be a <em>level three</em> entrepreneur where I change lives and impact people. </p>

<h3 style="text-align: left;">1. Start with the Asset.</h3>
<p>You&#8217;ve got to create it to use it right? My team and I love to start with videos as our base asset. It can be a piece of a webinar or Live that you do in a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/coachgrowers/">FB group</a> or on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/AlexNavasPro/videos">YouTube</a>, or even in an <a href="https://www.instagram.com/alexnavaspro/">Instagram Live</a>.</p>

<p>A few weeks ago, I did an FB live in my free group, Coach Growers &#8211; Grow A 6-Figure Coaching Business On Your Terms. The Live was about growing your online business strategically so you reduce all the randomness most businesses run on. I had a few ideas floating in my head that day, so I turned on the camera and just started teaching and answering questions.</p>
<h4>Most entrepreneurs end there. But the job doesn&#8217;t end there.</h4>
<p>After recording, I have this piece of content that serves my peeps in the group but is also useable on other platforms and media.</p>
<p> So What happens next?</p>

<h3>2.  Create mini-assets for each social platform.</h3>
<p>We take that video, turn it into Instagram stories, Instagram posts, Pinterest images, FB posts, and blog posts. My son edits them and we turn them into YouTube videos. </p>
<p>And for most content, you can pull out the gold nuggets and turn them into lead magnets to add value to your audience while having them take the first step towards a stronger relationship with you.</p>
<p>At this point, you&#8217;ll be wondering what to do with your content, and because there&#8217;s no plan to fully maximize the content, you&#8217;ll be putting pieces together like patchwork hoping it&#8217;ll work for you.</p>
<p>Which leads me straight into my final point:</p>

<h3 style="text-align: left;">3. Strategize and Promote.</h3>
<p>After you&#8217;ve created all these fantastical assets, you don&#8217;t want them to just sit and accumulate digital dust! But chances are you have now created enough graphics for at least two weeks of content. You make the decision what you leverage as paid media and what you want to grow organically. But once you have all the assets ready, you can fill your calendar with them. </p>
<p>An important part of this is going to be your strategy. It doesn&#8217;t have to be complicated or overwhelming if you are strategic about it.</p>
<p>The best thing you can do for any facet of your business is to create a strategy that will relieve you of the tensions and stress of having to produce or problems solve in the moment because you weren&#8217;t prepared.</p>
<p>Create your calendar and roll out <a href="http://alexnavas.com/strategic-business-mapping/">strategy,</a> and get to promoting.</p>

Stop just spending money on funnels and websites and social media and posting all over the place. What you need is clarity. That is fuel for all the things that you could possibly do. It not only to build your business and increase your revenue, but also get consistent demand into your business.</p>

<p>Who are your customers? I want you to think about customer segments &amp; customer relationships because ultimately what we&#8217;re going to do is create different customer segments that show how you&#8217;re going to reach each one of those segments and do it powerfully, which is a perfect segway into building and maintaining <a href="http://alexnavas.com/grow-your-business-through-connections/" data-wplink-edit="true">customer relationships.</a></p>
<p>What type of relationships do each of your customers want from you?</p>
<p>Do they want you as a coach?</p>
<p>Do they want you as a consultant?</p>
<p>Do they want you as an advisor?</p>
<p>Do they want to join a mastermind with you?</p>
<p>What kind of relationship are they looking to have with you? What do you have to do to capture their attention?</p>
<p>To compel them to say, yes, you know what, you are the solution for me to convert them and have them become a natural sale.</p>
<p>These are important questions to think on especially when creating a client profile.</p>

<p>Who are your key partners? I&#8217;m talking about referral partners and joint venture partners.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve had a couple offers that I&#8217;ve created in the past where I was not in the market whatsoever.</p>
<p>I was not in the real estate market and working with real estate agents. And yet I was able to align myself with a key partner.</p>
<p>We promoted, and she built an email list. We launched it and it made $23,000 and less than 60 days.</p>
<p>Now I had no name for myself in the real estate business, but the key partners were so critical</p>

<p>Think about key activities. What are the things that you have to do on a daily basis in order to grow your business?</p>
<p>What distribution channels do you have to tap into in order to reach your goals? </p>
<p>For me, I know that one of the things I need to do is to be present on social media. People live so much of their lives on the internet these days.</p>
<p>They get parenting advice, marital advice, financial advice, business advice, etc., from the internet and I need to be there to be a beacon of hope to my perfectly aligned client. </p>
<p><strong>Quick Recap:</strong> Mapping out your business is important for clarity on the direction you want it to head in. We talked about knowing how to segment your customers, knowing how to build relationships with them.</p>
<p>We talked about identifying key partners and they don&#8217;t always have to necessarily be in your niche, but these relationships can help you with marketing yourself as an expert in many industries.</p>
<p>Finally, we talked about identifying key activities that you need to do in order to keep your business running. These are the day to days of what it will take for you to reach your business and revenue goals. </p>

				<div class="et_pb_text_inner"><h2>What do you do when things in your Expert Business don&#8217;t go as planned?</h2>
<p>Something that a lot of people don&#8217;t really talk about in the expert business space is what happens when the unexpected happens and you&#8217;re suddenly sidelined without notice. What happens when there&#8217;s a challenge or a situation that requires your full, undivided attention? What do you do when there&#8217;s a hiccup that you weren&#8217;t prepared for that requires you to take time away from your expert business?</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t worry, we&#8217;ll get into that, because it&#8217;s bound to happen at some point. Unfortunately, that&#8217;s life BUT, we can be prepared for it if we know it&#8217;s inevitable.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a little back story; a year ago my coaching business was coasting, I was serving dozens of clients at once and life was good, really good 🙂</p>

<p>It was an awesome time.</p>
<p>Suddenly my father got sick and he had to go to the emergency room the week before Thanksgiving and he was literally on his deathbed.</p>
<p>He was experiencing some serious health issues and for the next month and a half, I was working out of the hospital so that I can be there with him. Unexpected, right?</p>
<h2><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>If your expert business isn&#8217;t structured the right way then it&#8217;s going to be dependent on you, and when you&#8217;re not available, neither is your business. </strong></span></h2>
<p>And the minute something happens, suddenly you lose your ability to take on clients, to sell more, and to serve more. This is what no one prepares you for.</p>
<p>Because those situations <em>do </em>happen and what you should be learning is how to have a business that can still function well when the unexpected happens.</p>
<p>Fast forward another year, and another <em>unexpected event</em> happens.</p>
<p>See, I&#8217;ve been dealing with pain and discomfort in my back for about 4 years now.</p>
<p>But one morning, about 5 months ago, I woke up with a horribly intense pain shooting through my back and have been dealing with this intense pain since.</p>
<p>Honestly, I know I&#8217;m on the road to healing, but there were days where I was literally working from the floor here in my office. There were times where I couldn&#8217;t get out of bed, or worse, couldn&#8217;t walk.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m still dealing with some of that now.</p>
<p>As you can imagine, when you&#8217;re living with intense pain, hardly sleeping, it gets to you and the only thing you can think of is trying to get better.</p>
<p>Again, Unexpected.</p>
<h4>I didn&#8217;t plan for that.</h4>
<p><em><strong>So, what happens when you have those challenges? </strong></em><em><strong>How do you keep your business going?</strong></em></p>
<p>If you have health issues or if you have circumstances that are out of your control, if you have a situation that arises, then you need to build in flexibility to make whatever maneuvers and changes you have to make without your business tanking.</p>
<p>So, here are a couple of things that I want to share with you to help you prepare for the <em>not always on your terms</em> moments.</p>
<h3><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">1. Structure your coaching / consulting offers so they aren&#8217;t delivered exclusively one-to-one</span></strong></h3>

<p>One of the first things that I did is to think about alternative ways to deliver for my coaching clients.</p>
<p>There were days I couldn&#8217;t get out of bed from the pain, so I had to get creative with how to continue delivering value without tying myself to the calendar in case it wasn&#8217;t a good day for my body.</p>
<p>I thought to myself, if I could minimize the days that I&#8217;m required to be on for clients then I can be much more effective for the people I&#8217;m serving in that one day. Plus, I can start coaching them through other means, like on a group call, with video lessons, handouts and worksheets to help them make progress, just to name a few.</p>
<p>Set up your coaching or expert business so that you are able to serve the clients that you have in a limited time period. This way, you maximize the time you&#8217;re available in select times, rather than keeping your calendar open all week and losing control.</p>
<h3><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>2. </strong></span> <strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Make sure that you start transitioning from a 1:1 to a more leveraged delivery system. </span></strong></h3>

<p>Once everybody is being taken care of using a group coaching or delivery model, what I started using <a href="https://www.voxer.com/">Voxer</a>, which is a messaging tool that allows you or others to send each other text or recorded messages that you can respond to with a click of a button. Instead of having to do one on one calls, I was using the Voxer app to respond to calls, do check-ins and share strategies they can take action on.</p>
<p>When I felt good, I listened and read clients&#8217; messages on Voxer. They sent me messages and when I felt rested or healthy enough, I&#8217;d get on Voxer and respond. They got the coaching and responses they needed without me being tied to Zoom, Skype or my phone.</p>
<p>They loved the ability to send me messages when questions came up and knew I&#8217;d respond to them fairly quickly.</p>
<p>Slowly I reduced the number of one on one calls I was doing and used Voxer instead. It gives a personalized touch without the need for being on the phone or being on a zoom call for 30 to 60 minutes. So you create more leverage in your delivery.</p>
<h3><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>3.</strong> <strong>Think about how can you refine the activities you&#8217;re doing for marketing so that you continually drive sales.</strong></span></h3>

<p>If you&#8217;re out of commission, if you&#8217;re with a family member in the hospital, if a loved one passes away, if you&#8217;re on vacation, if you&#8217;re taking weekends off, or if you simply want to unplug, you need to figure out how to continue getting clients without requiring much of your time, energy or attention.</p>
<h4>Your marketing activities have to be leverageable and have to work without you.</h4>
<p>There&#8217;s a time and place for putting in the effort up front, but once you do those things, then they start working for you whether you&#8217;re working or not, and so now sales start coming.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a little secret&#8230;</p>
<p>Not every coaching and consulting client that you take on requires a sales call. It&#8217;s perfectly acceptable and possible to do it through email or voice messages.</p>
<p>They don&#8217;t always require a conversation.</p>
<p>Am I saying don&#8217;t do strategy calls? No, but that&#8217;s just one method, not the end all be all.</p>
<p>Ok, back to <a href="http://alexnavas.com/difference-between-a-generalist-and-expert/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">leveraged marketing</a>.</p>
<p>Some of the leveraged marketing that I employ to reach my ideal audience even when I&#8217;m not working include YouTube videos, blog posts, email automation, and scheduled social media posts. There are even times that I leverage existing content like podcast interviews I&#8217;ve been on to create demand, though the recording may be months or years old.</p>
<p><strong>So to Recap, here are the three things you need to remember:</strong></p>
<p>One, be more strategic about how you set up your one-on-one meetings so that you can reduce the number of days or hours that you are available to coach.</p>
<p>Number two, get creative in your delivery for your clients so it isn&#8217;t only dependent on one-on-one coaching. Consider using an app like Voxer. Try doing a group call. Find what works for your tribe. It gives you a little bit more freedom and flexibility to serve your people better.</p>
<p>And Number Three is, create marketing that starts working <em>for and with </em>you. You have to fuel the system up front, but then once it&#8217;s going, it will start working for you on a continual basis. That way your systems, your process, your marketing, and your sales are able to work without you.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ll start by telling you this. Personal branding isn&#8217;t just about the logo you use or the color scheme you use throughout your marketing. Personal branding is about the perception you, your message and your brand creates in the minds and hearts of your audience.</p>

<p>I once met a woman named Ruth who was a Mary Kay consultant. She expressed frustration about not being taken seriously at business events, networks and seminars because her business was in network marketing.</p>
<p>I believed that she could still take her business to the next level so I advised her according to my own personal branding steps.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s talk about Oprah. Oprah takes an opinion even though she&#8217;s not necessarily a specialist on health or education or finances. She might know a thing or two about it but she hasn&#8217;t gotten any degrees in these different areas that she interviews people about.</p>
<p>The important thing is that she has an opinion and her opinion sways what her audience does. She says, “Hey read this book,” &nbsp;and everyone’s running to buy the book.</p>
<p>Why?</p>
<p>Because she&#8217;s positioned herself as an expert. Now she has this audience that is listening to her opinion and the thing about it is that she&#8217;s merely sharing other people&#8217;s expertise. She&#8217;s borrowing from their credibility in those areas.</p>
<p>So the first key is to have an opinion in your industry because when you stand for something people you know people will gravitate towards that.</p>
<p>They&#8217;re looking for a leader and you can be that person.</p>
<h3>2. <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Organize</span> Your Expertise To Take People On A Journey</h3>

<p>What do I mean by this? I mean organize your testimonials, organize your knowledge. You have to gather all this ammunition that you already have to prove that you are, in fact, an expert.</p>
<p>Because people who are not experts don&#8217;t do that. They&#8217;re so busy doing the ins and outs of their business they don&#8217;t take the time to organize to create this positioning as an expert.</p>
<p>Here’s an example, if you talk about a dentist and an oral surgeon you know they&#8217;re similar because they&#8217;re in a dental field. But the dentist is a general practitioner so what they do is they clean teeth, they do x rays, maybe they do repairs.</p>
<p>But they&#8217;re making a hundred dollars for the x-ray.</p>
<p>They need a whole lot of people in order to make the same amount of money as a surgeon.</p>
<p>Experts take the time to organize their thoughts, their processes, and create targets for each client profile instead of doing blanket marketing and spending thousands on bringing in less than what they know they should.</p>
<p>Which leads me perfectly into number 3.</p>
<h3>3. <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Outreach</span> (Marketing &amp; Promotion) Are Incredibly Valuable In Your Expert Business</h3>

<p>At some point, you have to be comfortable with educating others about your product or service. You think, “Hey I&#8217;m an expert. I&#8217;ve had success. Now let me go out there and get more attention.”</p>
<p>Experts are very specific on letting it be known that they&#8217;re good at what they do. They’re good at letting others know that people have had favorable results with their services.</p>
<h4>Experts know who they&#8217;re targeting.</h4>
<p>They specifically target a select group of people (target market, Ideal client), whatever you prefer to call it.</p>
<p>Using high-value outreach means you’re educating people, you’re showing testimonials, you&#8217;re showing case studies, you’re providing them with all of the tangibles and hitting their pain points in a way that no one else has been able to.</p>
<h3>4. <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Opportunities</span> Shouldn&#8217;t Only Be Created, But Cultivated</h3>

<p>This is it. You’ve taken the other three steps to set apart your personal brand. You’ve worked hard to become an expert, but there is one more crucial point where many fall short, and that is that they don’t create opportunities.</p>
<p>You might have had opportunities that passed you by that you may look at now and shudder. Or you may think you haven&#8217;t had the right opportunities. I want to challenge you. &nbsp;</p>
<p>As an expert, when you educate people, when you have an opinion, when you organize your positioning, when you do high-value outreach, THEN you get opportunities to do things you wouldn&#8217;t normally do.</p>
<h4>Opportunities come easily when you actively share your unique experience, stories and perspective.</h4>
<p>I&#8217;ll give you an example. A few years ago when I was still in the finance industry I got called upon a Chicago news channel and they asked me to speak on the subject of foreclosures.</p>
<p>They did a short 30 to 45-second report on foreclosures and I was the one offering four steps to avoid foreclosure. </p>
<p>I was an expert because I had an opinion. Because I organized my thoughts. Because I had outreach and because of my outreach I drew media attention. I had an opportunity that I wouldn&#8217;t have otherwise had.</p>

<p>Not only do you have to do most, if not all the work required to create and grow a successful business, you&#8217;re also responsible for the critical decisions that can make or break your business. It&#8217;s a challenge for anyone running a Solopreneur Business.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the scenario.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ve figured out that you&#8217;re good at something and there&#8217;s a demand for what you do. You think about how to turn those skills and talents into a business and you&#8217;re all fired up and ready to take on the world.</p>
<p>Then it hits you.</p>
<p>And suddenly the momentum dwindles.</p>
<p>You realize you&#8217;re stuck and it almost feels like you can&#8217;t move forward without making this one critical decision.</p>
<p>You think to yourself &#8220;What should I name my Solopreneur Business?&#8221; or &#8220;Should I go in business using my name or should I use a business name?&#8221;.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a great question. After all, you&#8217;re the only one in the business right now and you may or may not want more people to join you over time.</p>

<p>When I got out of the mortgage industry and starting coaching and consulting, I found myself in this very scenario.</p>
<p>Now, I may be more stubborn and knuckleheaded than you are, but this phase of deciding what name I would use in my Solopreneur Business had been a headache not just for weeks or months, but years.</p>
<p>Yeah, I admit, I kept going back and forth for years and the result reflected my indecision.</p>
<p>I first named my company Alex Navas Consulting and started building the business on this domain here, <a title="Alex Navas" href="http://alexnavas.com">AlexNavas.com</a>.</p>
<p>Then I thought to myself, &#8220;Maybe companies won&#8217;t take me seriously since I&#8217;m doing business under my own name&#8221;.</p>
<p>What do you think I did?</p>
<p>Yup, I changed the name to eMarketing Chicago. I figured since most of my clients at the time were local, it made sense to brand myself here in my city.</p>
<p>Then about a year into it, I was like &#8220;Well, if I want to grow beyond Chicago I can&#8217;t keep a localized business name so I guess I have to change it again.&#8221;</p>
<p>I know what you&#8217;re thinking and looking back, I agree with you. This was a total waste of valuable time and energy.</p>
<p>With that came another name change to Amplified Results which summed up the work that I did (and still do). So, now I&#8217;m onto the third website, the third blog and building from scratch once again.</p>
<p>The only advantage that I have that many other Solopreneur Businesses don&#8217;t have is that I build and market my own sites and offers. Most Solopreneurs don&#8217;t have those technical skills which makes this process all the more frustrating, expensive and overwhelming.</p>
<p>Lastly, I introduced a faith and marriage component to what I do and suddenly Amplified Results wasn&#8217;t a direct fit anymore.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s when enough was enough. I decided to keep my business name the same but to build my business brand on my name since there are different dynamics to what I do.</p>

<p>To help you avoid all this drama in your business, here are 3 things to consider when naming your business:</p>
<h3><strong>1. There&#8217;s a difference between your official business name and what you use to build your platform. </strong></h3>
<p>While my business name is Amplified Results, everything that I now do online is linked back to me as the brand. Since I am the face of my business, it was important for me to link myself to my services and offerings. This also helps me connect with people in a way that businesses without a face can. My prospects and clients know who they&#8217;re working with and that means a lot to them. They could care less about doing business with Amplified Results because they&#8217;ve always received the value directly from me.</p>
<h3><strong>2. You must identify your business objectives for the foreseeable future.</strong></h3>
<p>In other words, if the goal for me was to create a big company that would be sellable at some point in the future, I would build the business rather than my personal brand. I can still represent the brand, but I would spend my time creating value for the company first because I know the future outcome I was after. However, in my case, I don&#8217;t intend to sell my company (at least the one I&#8217;m building and growing now) which is built on my personal brand because I never want to retire from doing what I love. That&#8217;s why it makes sense to invest the time, money and energy to build up AlexNavas.com and the rest of my web properties because I&#8217;m in this for the long haul.</p>
<h3><strong>3. A personal brand allows for more flexibility and easier transitions than a business brand.</strong></h3>
<p>Looking back to when I first acquired AlexNavas.com, it was more of a personal finance blog. Over time, it evolved to being more about business and entrepreneurship and within the last year, I&#8217;ve been more open about God, faith, and family along with the business stuff. This would be difficult to do with a business brand. Personally, I love that at any moment, I can make a shift or introduce a new aspect of who I am and what I do and it doesn&#8217;t demand much preparation in presenting it to the public.</p>
<p>Ultimately, the main thing is to choose and decide. As you can clearly see, over the years I&#8217;ve taken different approaches and stances on my business name as a Solopreneur, however, not choosing was the worst mistake of all. There can be no momentum, movement or even clear message without choosing the direction you&#8217;re taking or where to lay the foundation for your business.</p>
<p>Once you figure out or refine your name, the next step is to know the answer to the very important questions &#8220;<a title="How to communicate what you do with impact" href="http://alexnavas.com/what-do-you-do/">What do you do?</a>&#8220;.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Whether that&#8217;s a joint venture opportunity, whether that&#8217;s a client, whether that&#8217;s somebody that&#8217;s going to open a door for you, you&#8217;re just one connection away from the destiny that you have through your business.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">That doesn&#8217;t happen if you want to promote. That doesn&#8217;t happen if you&#8217;re just getting out there and looking at what you can DO. It&#8217;s about clients. It&#8217;s about people.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You keep thinking, &#8220;I need another paycheck and I need to close another deal.&#8221; To the point where you&#8217;re so driven by that outcome that you forget that it&#8217;s about connecting with humans. You&#8217;ll find that if you get really good about connecting with humans, about connecting with people, about taking an interest in them about knowing them before ever asking for anything, suddenly opportunity will find you.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Suddenly, you have opportunities to get referrals, opportunities for joint-ventures, opportunities to create other solutions with other people. Think about how you&#8217;re approaching the relationships. Think about the connections that you have. Some of you are doing Facebook live and some of you are doing Instagram stories. But are you making genuine connections? Or are you just promoting what you do and promoting your business?</span></p>

Without knowing your numbers, you&#8217;re flying blindly and simply <em>hoping</em> to reach your annual goals.</span></h2>
<p>You want to make sure that your 2019 is far greater than your 2018 so that you&#8217;re able to get better results from what you&#8217;re doing. I want to make sure that we actually talk about how to make that happen. You have to know what it&#8217;s going to take to make your annual revenue goals otherwise all you have are ideas.</p>

<p>If you don&#8217;t have a plan and a breakdown then it&#8217;s going to be very hard to actually attain it. So let&#8217;s start by creating a plan that&#8217;s attainable because otherwise, it&#8217;s just this big goal. Maybe you want to hit 300,000, $700, million dollars, multiple millions, or whatever that number is for you. I want you to know that there&#8217;s no judgment in that number.</p>
<p>It could be $50,000. Maybe you just want to replace your income, really, whatever that number is for you. Some of you are trying to get into a place that is undefined. You&#8217;re worried about never being able to get there but that&#8217;s because you haven&#8217;t defined what it is to begin with.</p>
<p>So, determine what you find to be an attainable number, but also don&#8217;t just settle. We don&#8217;t want an attainable number for the sake of hitting a goal. We want to set a goal that&#8217;s going to take us to the next level. What is it for you?</p>
<h3><strong><span style="color: #0055aa; font-size: 18pt; font-family: lato;">2. Break it down by how many clients you need to serve and how much you need to charge in order to hit your annual revenue goal.</span></strong></h3>

<p>Once we&#8217;ve defined our numbers and set our target goal, what we need to know is: How many people are we serving? How many clients do we need to take on per week or per month that will get us to our goal? Think about it this way, your pricing has to be in alignment with the number of people that you serve in order for you to hit your goals.</p>
<p>Sometimes the biggest jump you can make is pricing accordingly. If we&#8217;re being honest, some of you are still pricing your offers according to what other people&#8217;s goals are and not your own.</p>
<h3><strong><span style="color: #0055aa; font-size: 18pt; font-family: lato;">3. Get more strategic on how you can actually start charging more or making more per client to make your goals more attainable.</span></strong></h3>

<p>Consider this, now having upped your prices, How are you going to market yourself? What changes can you make to your messaging that will convince potential clients that you&#8217;re worth the money?</p>
<p>Let me put it this way, you&#8217;re eliminating pains and you&#8217;re instilling gains that they can&#8217;t do on their own because they don&#8217;t know how to. Some clients may be with you for a month, some may be with you for a year. You can do upsells on services and products, you can offer group or referral deals for them bringing you more clients to work with.</p>
<p>I think one of the things that people get choked up on is that they don&#8217;t realize that the possibilities are endless with generating the income they truly desire. It goes beyond just finding people who are in your market, it&#8217;s about serving people. It&#8217;s about taking their burdens. It&#8217;s about removing the pressure that they may be feeling, and when that&#8217;s the case they <em>will </em>pay what they need to.</p>
<p>Again, if you want a breakthrough year, <em>KNOW THY NUMBERS</em>. That&#8217;s what it comes down to. Because that&#8217;s what&#8217;s going to give you the ability to plan what you have to do in order to hit your revenue goals, your business goals, your personal goals, your lifetime goals, and your freedom goals.</p>
<p>Knowing Your Numbers. That&#8217;s where it all starts.</p>
