IE6 and Cross Browser Layout

While I was creating a new design for my blog I was stuck when I had to check if the new layout looks good in Internet Explorer 6. For my previous designs I was able to use Multiple IEs, a software that let’s you install multiple versions of IE, to check if the layouts look good in Internet Explorer 6 but since I switched to Windows Vista I cannot run IE6 because of some kernel changes.

The only solution to run IE6 on Vista is to install a virtual machine and run Internet Explorer 6 there but I that takes time and time is precious. After asking some friends to check my blog in IE6 I found out that there are some problems.

Now I have a dilemma, should I bother myself to install a virtual machine and then run XP and IE6 from there or should I forget about IE6 which is still used on a small scale. I analyzed the percentage of visitors that use IE6 to visit my blog and it seems is not such a small percent, about 18% of my visitors use IE6.

Since there is no way that I switch to XP again I’ll leave my blog with the “bad” look in IE6 until I will find a reasonable solution for that and for the visitors that use IE6 I strongly recommend to use Firefox.

Free ClickBank Tips

Being new to ClickBank I am searching for tips and advices before actually start a campaign. There are many things to learn about ClickBank and many techniques that are available to use for promoting a ClickBank product but some of this ideas aren’t free and I currently don’t want to invest anything in the process of learning. Actually, I would be happier to invest in my campaigns.

I’ve just finished working at smusi.com and now it’s up and working. Smusi.com it’s a proxy web site where proxies are listed by different categories and tags.

Yahoo has officially opened registrations for the domain ymail.com & rocketmail.com so know users of Yahoo can sign up with ymail.com or rocketmail.com domains.

This step was done because of the big numbers of users registered at Yahoo and because new users that were trying to register couldn’t find appropriate user names.

If you still didn’t registered a ymail.com username you should hurry up and grab a short name to use on your Yahoo Mail or Yahoo Messenger.

Firefox 3: Download Day

Firefox is preparing to launch Firefox 3 and with this occasion they are also trying to set a world record for downloads in one day. Because I am a user of Firefox I “pledged” to download Firefox 3 in the day they will decide to release it. I have nothing to earn from this, it’s only for fun and maybe helping to set a world record.

Fun or not fun this is a great and unique way to launch a software and I suppose Firefox is getting a lot publicity.

Google’s New Service: Friend Connect

Friend Connect it’s probably the newest service offer by Google and it can be used for improving websites, actually for improving traffic for the websites. This description makes pretty easy to understand what Friend Connect can do: “If your site is not enough social, Friend Connect will add to your site social features”.

With a lot of features to add on websites Friend Connect makes them interactive, of course I am talking about sites that are not so “socialized”. Using Friend Connect visitors of websites can interact with each other, write reviews and share photos related to the site they are visiting.

Registration for Friend Connect can be done here but keep in mind that they are in beta and they don’t accept all people for the moment.

AdSense: How not to do it

Even that many people know that you can have a steady income from Google AdSense if do it right and make decent website there are also a lot of people that are trying to scam the AdSense system and increase their earnings by tricking people to click their ads. Of course there are the obvious stupid cheaters which sites look like: “Please click my ads in order to keep this site running”, “Please visit our sponsors”, etc. and there are the other cheaters that find different more clever ways to trick people.

I have found such a cheater who have a complex system for that and I suppose he put some work in to this trick. He signed up for an online jobs site as a company and he is “trying” to find employees for its so called company. He is looking for someone that will do “online monetization”. Until here all things are good but on his profile there is a link on which people suppose to find more details about the job. You can see the profile I am talking about in the first image (click on it for a larger view).

Once you are on the site it’s easy, you can find 3 chapters that will help you understand that job, everything is nice for a normal internet user which doesn’t understand very well the things with ads and AdSense earnings but for a webmaster it’s a surprise, all those 3 chapters are AdSense ads units. You can see what I am talking about in the left image, 3 ads units, no content, a thing that is not really liked by Google.
Anyway even if the website has no content he is misleading visitors, a thing that breaks the AdSense TOS.

I only noticed this scammer on one online jobs site by mistake and I didn’t searched on other sites but imagine how many people are trying to get a job and how many would click his ads. I assume that he have some good earnings from AdSense, well until now. I have reported this to the ejobs site and also to AdSense and I hope they will to something about this.

Anyway my point is that no matter what a complex trick you have discovered you shouldn’t try to trick systems like AdSense or others because in one way or an other you will be caught and maybe support the consequences. Do it right and you will be able to have a decent online income.

Away for a week

Since I have a lot of “work” at school and I have some big exams coming this week I won’t be able to be online and I will have to place on hold all my current orders and services until I will be back to my daily program.

I hope I will finish the exams with good results so I can have more time for my work this summer. Anyway all my orders will be finished after 1st July no matter if I pass my exams or not. I apologize to the people that are placed on hold but I have no other way to skip this step.

SEO.com sold for $5 million

Wow… This is quite a big price for a domain that is just a fancy thing. Any respectable SEO company can be in Google’s SERPS on the first page but owning the “SEO.com” is just a brand deal.

I wished I would registered some good domains a few years ago so I could sell them for millions right now, but that wasn’t on my mind then.
