Alex Woo is very happy to be the newest board member of the Accessories Council. As a not-for-profit, national advocacy organization established in 1995, their mission is to stimulate consumer awareness and demand for fashion accessory products.

For over the past 12 years, over 150 companies representing the world’s leading brand names, designers, publications, retailers and associated providers for the accessories, eyewear and footwear industries have participated and sponsored educational seminars, seasonal trend reports, design and marketing awards for area fashion students, and the esteemed black tie ACE Award Gala, an annual tribute to the leaders of the accessory industry.

Atlanta comrades in fashion, the fine jewelry industry’s biggest night, the GEM Awards were held today January 6, 2012 to honor the talents and achievements of jewelry and timepiece designers and companies. Each year, the Jewelry Information Center (JIC) of New York holds its GEM Awards to honor the best manufacturers, retailers, and media who meet their criteria to be luminaries in their chosen field in the jewelry/gems and watch-making industry.

This year’s honorees included Ralph Destino, who got the Lifetime Achievement award, Chanel Fine Jewelry for Corporate Communications, Editor-At-Large of Vogue.com Candy Pratts Price for Journalistic Excellence and the honorable Daphne Guinness for Jewelry Style.

Held at the Cipriani 42nd Street, the awards were attended by industry professionals and A-listers including designers Carolina Herrera (what a gorgeous sequined coat but then again, CH always looks elegant in anything she wears!), Alex Woo, Erica Courtney and Shaun Leane, Chanel Ambassador actress Anna Mouglalis and Olivier Stip, the Senior Vice President of Fine Jewelry & Watches at Chanel, and actress Padma Lakshmi.

This New Year’s Eve, 18.8 million viewers tuned in to watch the ball drop in Times Square. However, the glistening Waterford crystal ball with 22,000 lights - just a few blocks away from our office – wasn’t the only thing that was sparkling that night. This was also the 40th anniversary of the legendary show that broadcasts live from Times Square in New York City, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Co-host, Jenny McCarthy, shined in Alex Woo’s Large Gold Zhuli Hoop Earrings alongside Ryan Seacrest as Lady Gaga headlined the event. In addition to Lady Gaga, the star-studded lineup for the almost six hour show included Justin Bieber, Pitbull, Hot Chelle Rae, Gym Class Heroes, Florence + The Machine, Nicki Minaj and Taio Cruz. Beyonce also performed from London and Fergie from The Black Eyed Peas hosted the show from LA.

Many people wonder who they’ll kiss at stroke of midnight at New Year’s Eve and prior to countdown Jenny McCarthy was asked “Do you have an idea as to who will be your kiss after the countdown to the new year?”

I don’t know. I might just represent single women that love themselves and give myself a hug. I will squeeze, squeeze myself.

Fortunately, for one New York City police officer, he found himself locking lips with her when the ball dropped in Times Square. Afterwards, she tweeted “Hope u guys enjoyed it! FYI. I was wearing fake fur & the cop was a G-rated kiss. (except for my hand squeezing his butt). Happy new year!”

Alex Woo also hopes everyone’s night was filled with lots of sparkle and fun as we welcomed 2012. Best wishes in the New Year! xoxo

Lucky magazine did it again with NYC’s ultimate fashion experience! This was Lucky Shops 8^th year of amazing deals and great shopping. With celebs like Bridget Moynahan, Stephanie March, Kaylee Defer from Gossip Girl and Abigail Breslin – it was sure to be a fabulous weekend of shopping and fun.

Everyone looked great, especially Abigail Breslin who was rockin’ the Little Rock Star Double Note 2! Alex was able to catch up with her, since the last time they saw each other at Super Saturday 14, as they both smiled for the cameras on the red carpet. The event lasted three days and saw 7,000 people total from 40 different states! I think it’s safe to say that everyone shopped til’ they dropped at the 8^th annual Lucky Shops.

JCK Rock Star, an original video series sponsored by JCK Magazine and Swarovski Gems, they challenged five acclaimed designers to create the most beautiful piece of jewelry using a range of Swarovski precision-cut genuine gemstones.

In their 6th Episode “Meet Alex” they introduce everyone to their fifth contestant, Alex Woo, founder of the Alex Woo jewelry line. For the competition, Alex decides to use her travels as inspiration for her design. Will technical difficulties and working with unfamiliar stones prevent her from creating the winning piece? Watch and find out.

The winning piece will be featured in an original photo shoot in our June 2012 issue and will be showcased at the next JCK Las Vegas show.

Hart of Dixie – Rachel Bilson

Actress Rachel Bilson stars as Zoe Hart in the CW’s new series “Hart of Dixie,” a fish-out-of-water story about a New York City doctor adjusting to life in a small Southern town after she inherits a local medical practice. As a fast-talking New Yorker, she aspires to be like her father and become a cardio-thoracic surgeon, but when her dreams fall apart after four years of residency at a New York hospital, Zoe takes up an offer work in a small medical practice in the town of Bluebell, Alabama. She decides to become a general practitioner for a year and look after patients as “people to help, not puzzles to solve.”

Created by The OC and Gossip Girl team, the show definitely has some of the same witty one-liners and eye-candy that helped propel the other shows to success. In the “Faith & Infidelity” episode, Rachel wears Alex Woo’s Sienna earrings.

Rachel Bilson Background
Rachel Bilson is enjoying a successful and continually developing acting career on both big and small screens. In addition to her new television series, she also recently wrapped the independent film “L!fe Happens,” with Kate Bosworth, as well as the independent comedy “The To Do List,” opposite Bill Hader and Scott Porter.

Other past film credits include starring as the female lead in “Waiting for Forever” as well as in “Jumper” for 20th Century Fox Studios, “The Last Kiss,” with Zach Braff and directed by Tony Goldwyn for Paramount, and opposite Andy Garcia in a film comprised of a series of shorts called “New York, I Love You.” Bilson currently lives in Los Angeles, where she was also raised.

“I don’t want to say I survived cancer – I want to say I kicked its butt!” Robin Roberts did just that while fighting her battle with breast cancer and we find out how she did this in the October issue of Ladies Home Journal.

“Things that used to bother me, like getting my hair wet in the rain, now make me laugh. I don’t sweat the small stuff.” Robin’s life has changed drastically but it has helped her to see life in a whole new perspective and we admire her for that!

Fashion’s Night Out 2011

Anna Wintour has done it again – Fashion’s Night Out was a success for the 3^rd year in a row! Those of you who love and appreciate fashion were able to enjoy a night of parties, fashion and fun on September 8^th.

For those of you who are unaware of what FNO is – it was launched by Anna Wintour and Vogue just 3 years ago and was intended to increase consumer spending as well as a night to celebrate the fashion world. This amazing event has given designers, such as Alex Woo, the opportunity to showcase their work while giving their fans a chance to meet their favorite designers.

Alex was able to attend Henri Bendel as it was transformed into the Hester Street Fair with great people, food and of course, shopping. After her greet-and-meet, she headed to the Lincoln Motors VIP event/fashion show where some of her pieces were seen on the runway.

FNO was not only about fashion but it was also about charity and helping to raise money. Justin Bieber teamed up with Dolce and Gabbana for the Pencils for Promise event that helped to raise enough money to build a school – we’re always thrilled to see the fashion industry giving back!

Anna Wintour and Vogue seem to outdo themselves every year and this year was no different. Stores offered everything from complimentary drinks, celebrity and designer appearances as well as giveaways. All in all, it was a great night for all fashionistas across the globe!

Her husband calls her the brunette Doris Day, cohost Matt Lauer says she’s utterly genuine, and Today viewers count on her sunny optimism. Yes, Ann Curry really is that nice.

Ann Curry was featured on the front of the September issue of Ladies’ Home Journal magazine and she is wearing Alex Woo’s Gold Vida Earrings. Inside she wears both Alex Woo’s Vida Earrings and Narissa Cuff.

She talks about her “greatest mission,” which has been covering humanitarian disasters around the world. ”Journalism is an act of faith in the future,” Ann touts. Ann’s coworkers also had some really nice things to say about her.

“The warmth is utterly genuine,” Matt said.

“When you see her reporting a story that’s tragic you can see the pain. She is genuinely affected by what she’s doing. She doesn’t have a switch she can turn on and off,” Al said.

Glamour Weddings – Real Wedding Album : Jen & Brad

Here’s a super-sweet love story to get your week started with a smile!

Jen and Brad locked eyes at a mutual friend’s birthday party in 2003—when she was just a college freshman! After being introduced, the two talked, flirted, played card games, and laughed all night. Brad gave Jen big goodnight kiss and said he would call the next day. And he did! More than eight years later, Brad and Jen have never been apart. They were married January 30 at the Betty H. Reckas Cultural Center in Long Beach, California.

I’m not sure if you’ll be able to tell it in these pics, but the ceremony and reception were held in the same ballroom space! Jen and Brad’s event designer, Jeremy Smith of Thank Goodness It’s Sophia Catering, hung floor-to-ceiling white drapes during the ceremony, and removed them while guests were mingling in the venue’s foyer and courtyard during the cocktail hour.

Says Jen: “When doors to the ballroom re-opened after cocktail hour, there were gasps! ‘How did they do that so quickly?’ people asked. ‘This is awesome!’”

Super Saturday 14

Every Saturday is great in the Hamptons, but each year there is one that stands out. It is Super Saturday and it is the 14th annual fund-raiser sale benefiting the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Hosted by Kelly Ripa, Donna Karan, InStyle magazine and actress Emma Roberts it is the luxury garage sale no one wants to miss — with discount designer goods from more than 200 designers, including Jimmy Choo, Diane von Furstenberg and Alex Woo.

This year, Kelly Ripa proved again how amazing she is, by hosting the event and helping promote it regularly both on and off camera. As a mom of 3, she is a personal role model for the millions that watch her regularly on Live! with Regis & Kelly. Today, she also wore Alex Woo’s Little Vegas Gold Cherries.

At the event were also many supporters of the event including the multi-talented and sweet Abigail Breslin. Check out her band CABB!
