“Life is really unpredictable”!! You completely feel down & out on one day and on another day you are suddenly on top. Many of us have experienced this situation in our lives. The same thing has happened with Team India’s most technically gifted current batsman named Ajinkya Rahane. After being dropped for last two ODIs of recently concluded Bangladesh tour, Ajinkya Rahane has been named as Team India’s captain for the tour of Zimbabwe which will consist of 3 ODIS and 2 T20s. A major reason for his appointment is that most of the senior players have been rested along with the current ODI skipper MS Dhoni. “Team India” has been playing non-stop cricket since last 6 months so these senior players opted to rest for this series.

Ajinkya Rahane has blossomed into a complete Test Match batsman since last year or so. He scored his first test ton at Basin Reserve, Wellington against the Kiwis in February 2014. It was followed by a magnificent Test Match winning century on a green top at Lords against England few months later. His knock of 147 against Australia at MCG in last December was a true masterpiece & provided him recognition all around the Cricketing Globe. With a batting average of close to 50, Ajinkya Rahane is now the backbone of Indian Test Match batting line up along with Virat Kohli.

However, his ODI career has been a bit of enigma. Since making his ODI debut as an opening batsman in 2011 at Chester-le-Street in England, Ajinkya is still fighting for his spot in Indian ODI squad. With an average of 30.63 in ODIs, there is always pressure on Ajinkya when he bats in this format. With Rohit-Sharma & Shikhar Dhawan having cemented their opening slots, Ajinkya Rahane has been batting at No. 4 since last few months which included the recently concluded World Cup. Many former cricketers including Sourav Ganguly picked Ajinkya Rahane to be one of the success stories of India in World Cup. However, Ajinkya had an average World Cup by his high standards. Only saving grace was his knock of 79 runs against South Africa which was laden with 7 boundaries and 3 sixes.

An interesting fact to note here is that Ajinkya Rahane made his ODI debut in September 2011 whereas he played his first Test Match in March 2013. His international T20 career has been on the same path as his ODI career. Although, Ajinkya Rahane has done remarkably well for his franchise Rajasthan Royals in IPL, he is not a regular fixture in Indian T20 squad. With T20 World Cup approaching early next year, Team India is scheduled to play a handful of T20 matches till next T20 World Cup. If given a chance it will be very interesting to see how Ajinkya Rahane performs in these games.

So with Zimbabwe series starting next week it will be a special moment for Ajinkya Rahane when he will lead Team India at Harare on 10^th of July 2015. However, he is just a stand-by captain for 3 ODIs and 2 T20s in Zimbabwe but this experience will help him immensely to develop his ODI & T20 game. After a poor series in Bangladesh, “Team India” is hoping for a turnaround in Zimbabwe. But beating Zimbabwe in their own backyard in the absence of star players like Dhoni, Virat, Rohit, Raina, Dhawan & Ashwin won’t be that easy for Team India. If Ajinkya Rahane leads India to victory in both ODI & T20 series, then it will be a huge confidence booster for him & Indian cricket team.

One good thing is that Ajinkya Rahane has always had support & confidence of senior cricketers & Coach. Although MS Dhoni dropped Rahane from Playing XI for last 2 ODIs in Bangladesh, he talks very highly about him when it comes to Test Match Cricket. India’s Test Match Captain Virat Kohli also rates Ajinkya Rahane very highly. Another thing that goes Ajinkya’s way is his fielding. For me he is the best Indian fielder & easily saves around 15 to 20 runs in an ODI match through his fielding. So Captain Rahane has a tough task in next couple of weeks of discovering himself as an efficient ODI & T20 Cricketer and leading India to victory against Zimbabwe after disappointing Bangladesh series.

So after suffering from serious scorching heat since last three to four months, finally Monsoon has hit Mumbai. Monsoon for Mumbai in simple words can be described as “Love it or Hate it but you Need it”. If you are a Mumbaikar, where travelling by public transport is an integral part of your daily routine, than this season of monsoon can pose a serious challenge for you. Most of the trains run late, road transport is affected because of water clogging so reaching your office in time can be quite a task. Another serious issue is mud pools or puddles which makes walking on road a torture.

In spite of all this trouble and difficulties, month of monsoon or Rainy Season is one of the most awaited & enjoyed season in Mumbai. For children it’s the season to get drenched in the rain, show-off their new Rain wear, make Paper-Boats, bunk school at times because of heavy rain. For youngsters, Monsoon is the season to enjoy their romantic life to the fullest, play a game of football under heavy rain, have those weekend parties with their favourite drink at a nearby Resort. If you like travelling and are fond of nature, then visiting places like Khandala, Bhivpuri, Malshej Ghat during rains can be a visual treat for you.

For foodies, season of monsoon offers you some nice dishes to enjoy! ‘Kandabhaji’ – a famous Maharashtrian delicacy tastes best during rains. Try it once if you have never tried it. ‘Kandabhaji’ is available at most of the roadside food stalls in Mumbai. Another food-item which makes a regular appearance during Monsoon is Charcoal Roasted Corn’. “Makka” or “Butta” as it is called in Mumbai is the famous street food during monsoons. Roasted Corn is good for your health, so you do not have to worry about calories while indulging in this roadside delight of Mumbai during rains.

If you are having a weekend off and it’s raining heavily, the best thing to do at times is to quietly listen to the serene & tranquil sound of raindrops. This can be one of the ideal ways to ease away your stress. So with lots of memories, the beautiful and the most important season of monsoon has just arrived in Mumbai. Indian Media is Salman-ified since last week coz it was time for Bhai's verdict. Salman was sentenced for five years rigorous imprisonment in the 2002 hit-and-run case by Sessions Court in Mumbai on Wednesday i.e. 6th May. However, hours after he was sentenced to five years imprisonment, Salman Khan was granted interim bail by the Bombay High Court till 8^th of May. Instead of being in Jail on 6^th of May, Sallu Bhai received a heroic welcome at his Bandra residence by his followers. During that period lot of Bollywood Celebrities, Political-big-shots met Salman Khan to show their support as if Salman was going to jail because he had killed a Terrorist and not a poor footpath dweller.

As expected The Bombay High Court on last Friday i.e. 8^th of May suspended the sentence of actor Salman Khan and granted him bail till his appeal is decided. So it was celebration time for Salman and his loyal fans who had seen his each & every film since “Maine Pyar Kiya” days. Fire Crackers were busted outside his Bandra residence & huge party was organized at Salman’s Panvel Farmhouse to celebrate his release from jail.

Going back to life & career of Salman Khan, ‘Bhai’ as he is popularly called is always in news. Controversies have been following Salman, may it be the Backbuck case, comments about 26/11 attacks or altercations with his Bollywood friends like Vivek Oberoi, Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif. However, Salman is one of the successful actors in Bollywood whose films are guaranteed to touch a whooping 100 crores mark. Salman also has a huge fan base not only in India but all around the globe.

Salman Khan is also known for his Charity Work & his “Being Human” Charitable Foundation which was started in 2007 has helped thousands of underprivileged children by providing them with healthcare & Educational facilities. Apart from that Salman Khan is also known for helping lots of Bollywood aspirants by giving them financial assistance & other help as & when needed. Talking about body building in India, “Salman Khan” is a role model for lots of youngsters.

Since last few days Social Media is divided on the Salman Topic with one section wanting Salman to be in jail so that the power of Law thrives over power of money. On the other hand there is a huge Salman fan following who wants their hero out of the jail. According to them what Salman did was wrong but looking at this Social Work, his star power, the Bollywood Actor should be given another chance. Few of them are even saying that it was not Salman’s fault but the person who died in accident was at fault as he was sleeping on footpath. So this Salman “hit and run case” is going to take lot of twist and turns in coming months. Let’s hope that Court makes a proper judgment, so that common man does not lose his faith in the Indian Judicial System.

Primetime, Marathi Movies & Shobha De

With Maharashtra State Government making it mandatory for multiplex owners to screen Marathi movies at Primetime, the decision has caused premature whining from lots of Bollywood & Page 3 personalities. Plenty of discussions & debates are going on the issue especially on Social Media. Decision has been welcomed by all Maharashtrians in general except few Uncle and Aunties who try to act differently to create their unique identity at all times.

Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt lead this so called Anti-Marathi brigade and are joined by Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan and our own “Marathi Mulgi” Shobha De. Mumbai, being a capital of Maharashtra, I don’t think there should be anyone opposing this decision & those who are doing it should rightly called Anti-Marathi. For all Khans, Kapoors, Khannas of Bollywood let me remind them one thing that it was “Marathi Manoos” Shri. Dada Saheb Phalke who started the movement of Cinema in India in real sense.

Since last decade quality of Marathi movies has improved a lot. Movies like Dombivali Fast, Me Shivaji Raje Bhosale Boltoy, Aga Bai Arrecha & Timepass can easily give competition to any Bollywood movie. “Shwas” , a Marathi film released in 2004 was India’s official entry to the 2004 “Oscars” & was ranked 6^th in the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film Category. With Current shit made in Bollywood most of the Multiplex Screens are not even 30% full during Primetime.

Finally coming back to topic of Shobha Aunty i.e. Shobha De who really has a good command over English language during most times makes misuse of her words especially on Social Media Platforms. After Primetime slot for Marathi movies was announced Shobha Aunty was at her best criticising the decision on Twitter (For what she wrote, kindly check her Twitter Handle). Intoxicated by Page 3 Culture Shobha Aunty not only criticised Marathi movies but also Marathi Culture. ShivSena today rightly protested outside her house as this people should learn to respect the culture of the state where they live.

I am not defending all Marathi movies made because even today high percent of Marathi movies are ordinary, leave along going to Theatre you cannot even watch it on TV. So with Primetime slot allocated to Marathi movies by State Govt. it’s now responsibility of Marathi filmmakers to make quality Marathi movies which people can watch at Theatres. #WontGiveItBack was the caption with which our World Cup campaign was promoted on Star Sports India & other Social Media platforms. We played fierce, competitive & ruthless Cricket throughout the World Cup winning 7 out of 7 games. Our form prior to the World Cup was poor to say the least. We were not able to win a single game in the entire Australian Tour which consisted of 4 Tests followed by a Tri-Series involving England. Leave alone Australia Indian Team was even defeated by England twice in the Tri-Series which was a major concern for all Indian Cricket lovers.

To make matter worse for Indian Teams & its fans our opening encounter in the World Cup was with our archrivals Pakistan against whom we enjoyed a winning record of “5-0” in World Cups. After looking at India’s performance against Australia & England plenty of fans even made statements like “Forget the World Cup just win against Pakistan and it will be like winning World Cup for us”. Finally historical day arrived on a glorious Sunday on 15^th Feb 2015 at Adelaide & Team India really played like champs to defeat Pakistan convincingly. Fans were ecstatic & post match celebrations were of the nature as if India has already won the World Cup. Even I celebrated by drinking two bottles of Budweiser (My loyal Brand of Beer).

Virat Kohli scored a swashbuckling century along with Mohammad Shami who picked up 4 Pakistani wickets were heroes in India’s victory against Pakistan. India’s next match was against the strong South African side who were considered as tournament favorites along with Australia. However Team India floored the Proteas at the Packed MCG courtesy brilliant hundred by Shikhar Dhawan & classy 79 by Ajinkya Rahane which allowed India to post 307. Chasing this huge target South Africa folded out for 177 due to some brilliant bowling by R.Ashwin who claimed 3 South African wickets & some spectacular fielding added to South African downfall.

Team India made an easy meal of minnows UAE in their next encounter before making a heavy weather of the mediocre Target of 182 set by West Indies in their next match at Perth. Captain Cool Mahindra Singh Dhoni in partnership with his CSK Teammate Ravichandran Ashwin guided India to an easy victory against the Team from Caribbean. Having already qualified for the Quarter finals India’s next 2 encounters were against the minnows Ireland & Zimbabwe. To retain their Number One position in Group India needed to win both the games which they did in style. So as the Group stage came to an end, Indian Fans who had written off Team India before the tournament now started believing that Team India can defend the World Cup Trophy.

Since India topped their group we had a luxury of playing Bangladesh in quarter final. Bangladesh are no pushovers and which team would know it better than India who were knocked out of 2007 World Cup because of shock defeat by Bangladesh in group stages. Bangladesh was playing some good cricket in World Cup & deserved to qualify for the Knock-Outs. They beat England in a crucial game & also gave tough fight to favorites New Zealand. #RiseOfTheTigers hashtag was justified and was trending ferociously on Social Media platforms. However India in spite of being in some trouble against the Tigers when they were reduced to 115/3 in 28 overs managed to post 302 because of sublime hundred by Rohit Sharma. Target was too much for Bangladesh and they were folded for 193 in 45 overs courtesy Umesh Yadav’s 4 wicket haul.

After remaining unbeaten & claiming 70 wickets in 7 matches stage was set for a Semi-Final showdown against the dangerous Aussies at SCG on 26^th March. Whole India was on Holiday to watch the match & it was Sea of Blue at SCG as if it was a home game for India. Many Cricket pundits were of the opinion that India can beat Australia because of their current form. Even Aussies were a bit nervous going into the match. However, Australia displayed a clinical performance and shattered the dreams of millions of Indians as they thrashed India by 95 Runs. Batting first Australia riding on brilliance of Steven Smith & Aaron FInch posted a mammoth target of 328. Chasing 329 despite of a solid opening partnership of 76 in (12.5 Overs) Indian batsman crumbled under pressure & India were bowled out for 233. So the journey of World Champions finally came to a halt at Sydney on 26^th March 2015.

It was a journey full of some beautiful memories which will remain with Indian fans forever. From Rohit & Shikhar’s batting to consistent fast bowling by Umesh, Shami & Mohit, Indian fans enjoyed every bit of the action. Shikhar Dhawan & Ajinkya Rahane’s batting & R.Ashwin’s classical Off-Spin bowling at MCG will surely remain in the minds of 87,000 odd supporters who were at MCG for a long time. Virat’s historical century against Pakistan, Raina & Dhoni’s match winning partnership against Zimbabwe to Rohit Sharma’s classic of 137 against Bangladesh. Team India has given lots of great memories for Indian fans to cherish.

However one bad game at SCG and our dream of retaining the most prestigious crown in the history of the game was shattered. Lots of people have started criticizing the team after the loss at Sydney but it’s more out of disappointment than frustration. However this is the time when our Heroes need our support so it’s the duty of all Diehard Indian Cricket Fans to support Team India who gave us so much to cheer in this World Cup. Every team can have a bad day at the office and for Team India it was unfortunately at SCG against the mighty Aussies. So we have to accept the defeat & wish our team & captain success in future tournaments because it is only the Game of Cricket which is worship by billions which unites India.

CW 2015- Semi-Final Showdown

It’s Semi-finals time at ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. As expected top four teams have made it to the Semis. Three mouth watering clashes are in store for cricket buffs over the next six days. Semi-Finals will be held on Tuesday, 24th March & Thursday, 26^th March followed by a big Final which will be staged on Sunday, 29^th March.

Come Tuesday, the lazy city of Auckland in New Zealand will be up & cheering the Black Caps at the Picturesque Eden Park stadium where they take on the flamboyant South Africans in the 1^st Semi-Final. Both countries have never made it to the World Cup final so one can understand the significance of this contest. Almost entire New Zealand & South Africa will be glued to their Television Sets where as the lucky ones will be at the Eden Park to support their Teams.

If the group match at Auckland between Australia & New Zealand was anything to go by, one can hardly imagine what will the scenes in Auckland if the game goes down to the wire as it happened during the league match between the two "Trans Tasman Cousins". Proteas with world class players like AB De’villiers, Hashim Amla, Dale Steyn & JP Duminy are looking slight favorites at this moment but it is very difficult to predict the result of this contest.

If ABD & his team can perform to their potential without choking under the pressure of Semi-Final they can emerge victorious. But for that to happen they have to play their best Cricket against the likes of inform Martin Guptill, Brendon Mccullum, Trent Boult & co. Whatever be the outcome let’s get ready to enjoy the showdown between two teams who have never won a World Cup Semi-Final.

The Second Semi-Final is scheduled this Thursday at the Traditional Sydney Cricket Ground between the current World Champions India & the host Australia. These two teams have seen enough of each other in last three months or so. Australia since they are playing at home has a slight edge in this clash but they will be nervous of competing against the World Champs who after their dismal tour down under have won seven straight games in the tournament. If Rohit, Shikhar, Virat & Ajinkya start middling their strokes it will be very difficult for the likes of Johnson, Starc & Hazlewood to contain them.

On the other hand if Warner, Finch, Watson, Maxwell start connecting the big ones than it will be a daunting task for in form Umesh , Shami, Mohit & Ashwin to stop the run flow. One positive thing for Team India is the leadership of Captain Cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni who has outstanding record in ICC Knockout matches. Even though this Semi-Final is a home game for Kangaroos don’t be surprised if Indian Fans outnumber the Aussies at SCG both in terms of attendance & decibel levels and turning it into a home affair for Indians.

After watching four one-sided quarter finals, Cricket Fans all around the globe are excepting some thrilling close encounters at Auckland & Sydney. As Cricket’s biggest carnival is reaching its ultimate climax, let’s get ready to enjoy some sensational Semi-Final games between the top four cricket playing nations on the planet. If you are an Indian Cricket Fan just keep praying for Team India’s victory against the mighty Aussies.

World Cup 2015 – It’s time for Knock – Outs

After a month of some high quality, electrifying Cricket it’s time for Knock-Outs. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 jointly hosted by Australia & New Zealand till now has proved to be a great success. Lots of high scoring games, Close Encounters, Gayle’s double hundred, AB De’villiers brutal hitting to some deadly pace & swing bowling by Mitchell Starc, Trent Boult, Mohammad Shami & Co.It has been a true festival of Cricket. Associate Nations also made their mark in the World Cup & it will be very cruel of ICC if they reduce the 2019 edition to 10 country event. Overall, World Cup has entertained Cricket Addicts all around the globe.

Finally the most crucial phase of the tournament is starting on Wednesday i.e. 18^th March when South Africa will lock horns against Sri Lanka at SCG in the 1^st quarterfinal. All the teams which were fancied to reach the quarter finals before the start of the Tournament have qualified barring England who is elegantly replaced by resurgent Bangladesh Team who knocked the ‘Poms’ out of the Tournament by beating them in the league phase last week.

After Sri Lanka – Proteas battle on 18^th, another #BlockbusteratMCG is scheduled on 19^th when the World Champions India take on Bangladeshi Tigers. The 3^rd quarter–final is between the Unpredictables Pakistan & the deadly hosts Australia at Adelaide Oval on 20^th. Co-Hosts New Zealand will battle it out against the dangerous West Indies in the last quarter final game on 21^st March at Wellington.

As per the current form in the league games South Africa, India, Australia & New Zealand are favorites to qualify for the Semis. But cricket is the game of glorious uncertainties so anything can happen on a given day. But one thing is for sure that the four games coming up will all be high-voltage affairs with tension growing every second minute. One bad game & its over. Take for example India or New Zealand, if they by any chance crumble under pressure and lose their matches both the favorites who hold the 6 – 0 winning record in league phases will be out of the Tournament.

HAPPY 67th INDEPENDENCE DAY (MAA TUJHE SALAAM)

So the time to be an INDIAN has come. Everyone’s FB profile is painted in Tri-Colour, all television channels showing Patriotic Songs & movies and every 2^nd kid on street is waving Indian Flag whether he is born with a golden spoon or on a footpath. Yes it’s 15^th August, our Independence Day and only other day after 26^th Jan when we are proud to be INDIANS. This is not a tone of criticism but a fact which sadly is correct.

As we celebrate our 67 years of Freedom how many positives are there that we can be proud for? Everyone knows the history of our Freedom Struggle. So no point in emphasizing it again & again. But are we doing justice to the sacrifice of our great freedom fighters? Apart from 15^th August and 26^th January are we really Proud to be Indians? On this Historical day let’s talk about few important issues affecting our Nation.

One common thing about the youth today is to settle abroad. Brains that India need are used by other countries to develop their Nations. But why to blame only the youth! what is Government of India doing to stop this Brain Drain ? Are there any effective measures taken to curb this outflow? Sadly the answer is big “NO”. Secondly are Jobs in India secure and good enough to encourage youth to stay back? Every one working in India is worried about the Job Security. Government sectors are already full by Influence & Reservations so Indian Youth has no option but to settle abroad.

Second thing that needs to be revamped is our Political System. Today’s system is so corrupt that every honest person knows that it’s literally impossible to get into the system. Corruption charges on Ministers in last few years have broken many records but hardly anyone is behind bars. When Innocent people are easily targeted by Law what about these Ministers? Every tainted Minister today is out on bail. If this is what our Law is then why should we respect the Law? However since last couple of years “Social Media” has brought transparency in Politics and as a result most of the youth are trying to get involved in it. Sadly same can’t be said about the other Media. So instead of just criticizing our system it’s important for us to contribute to the system. As the famous saying goes “TO CHANGE THE SYSTEM WE HAVE TO BE IN THE SYSTEM”.

Another Issue is about Economy. I am not a Economist neither do I study Stats but what India has experienced in last decade is shocking to say the least. Today Indian Rupee’s value against US Dollar is almost Rs. 62 /-. Petrol rates are increasing every fort-night and same with other commodities and still our Ministers say that an Individual can survive on Rs. 32/- per day which is ridiculous. Instead of apologizing to people, these ministers are making fun of people by giving such baseless statements and the worst part is that our Prime Minister who is one of the Best Economists in the world but even he can’t control our Economy.

Another thing to stress on is Terrorism. In other words Terrorism is synonym to Pakistan. Every month we hear about our soldiers being killed by Pakistan. And our government’s common statement is “Don’t test India’s Patience”. For how long are we going to say the same? Why is there is no action against Pakistan? Time has come to show our real power. We are blessed with such a strong Army, Navy & Air Force but what’s the use if they are not given any orders by Government to take Action. China is also troubling us and so is Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh. But we still follow the path of Non-Violence and are happy about it. A day will come when we will give our Land to some other country in the name of “Ahimsa” or “Non-Violence”. It’s high time that our Government should take some action against this cross-border Terrorism or allow Indian Army to take control of our Country.

On the Positive side, we still have some of the best brains in the country. Youth we have is one of the best in the world & the Future of Nation lies in its youth. “Social Networking” today is the most POWERFUL WEAPON if used in the proper manner. So on this INDEPENDENCE DAY just remember those who have done our Country proud. “SAHEB”- Yesterday, Today & Forever

I do not think it is possible to write a Blog about the Person on whom an Epic can be created, History be rewritten and Era can be redrawn. Balasaheb Thackeray or SAHEB is not just a Political Leader, a Cartoonist, an orator but a divine personality who has shaped the lives of millions of people in Hindustan. Yes we ShivSainiks call it Hindustan not India. Born on 23^rd of January 1926 this “Saffron Storm” hit the world scene first in 1960 in the form of “Marmik”- a weekly Marathi journal and on 19^th of June 1966 in form of “ShivSena”.

“ShivSena” a political party in Hindustan has now become a Religion for ShivSainiks. Many did not like the Ideologies of “SAHEB” like campaigning against South-Indians and other immigrants who were snatching the Jobs of Local Marathi Manus or BhumiPutra i.e. “Son Of Soil”. When Hindustan was divided in Linguistic basis it was important for every state to protect the right of its Locals. In Southern States like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu the 1^st preference for job was given to Kannadis and Tamils similarly it was given to Punjabis in Northern states like Punjab & to Bengalis in Eastern state like West Bengal .

But it was not the same in Mumbai the capital of Marathi speaking state Maharashtra. Here most of the jobs were snatched by South Indians. Even in business people from other states had developed their strangle hold & because of this “Marathi Manus” was becoming an Orphan. He was looking for a “God Father” who would ignite a spark within him to fight for his rights. SAHEB provided this spark to Marathi speaking people in Mumbai. His Cartoons in “Marmiks” & his rough & tough political speeches changed the way “Marathi Manus” used to think & slowly & surely this spark developed into a fire and “Marathi Manus” started to make his own place in the city of MUMBAI.

He urged “Marathi Manus” to free themselves from the Clutches of Job & to start his own business. As years passed by SAHEB created a strong hold not only in Mumbai but in entire Maharashtra. His thinking level, deep knowledge on various subjects & to the guts to go against the flow made him unique. He is the only leader who said “ I do not believe in “Lokshahi” i.e. Democracy but I believe in “Shiv-Shahi” i.e. they way great Hindu king Shivaji Maharaj ruled Hindustan . It is only because of SAHEB that 80 % Marathis are employed in Government Jobs in Maharashtra. When ShivSena came to power during 1995-99 Balasaheb gifted Maharashtra with various projects like 55 flyovers in Mumbai, Mumbai – Pune Express highway, Bandra – Worli Sea Link, Employment Opportunities of Maharashtrians in Public as well as private sector. SAHEB even provided financial aid to small – scale businesses run by Marathi Manus.

During the early 90’s when “Babri Masjid” was demolished there were growing tensions between Hindus and Muslims which led to Riots in Mumbai. At that time “SAHEB” protected innocent Hindus in Mumbai no matter whether he was a Gujarati, Marwari, Bihari, Rajasthani & so on. The growing tension from across the border i.e. Pakistan and some Traitors supporting Pakistan made it important for someone to fight for the right for Hindus. So “SAHEB” adopted Hindutva and was crowned as “HINDUHRUDAYSAMRAT” by his Hindu followers all across the world. Some say that “SAHEB” was Anti-Muslim which is absolutely wrong. He was only against those Muslims who stayed in HINDUSTAN & supported Pakistan. He called those Traitors as “LANDE”.

A kingmaker who followed the Great Shivaji Maharaj & Veer Sawarkar, “SAHEB” even openly praised “Adolf Hitler”. “SAHEB” started “SAAMNA” a Marathi News paper along with “DOPAHAR KA SAAMNA” where he expressed his views on various opinions openly & boldly. A leader who dare to speak his views in public which many prefer to say only in their living rooms, even Pakistani Terrorists were afraid of “SAHEB”. His stand on various issues like Reservation in Education, Cross Border Terrorism by Pakistan, opposing bullshit Foreign events like Valentine Days makes him unique. Today SAHEB is not within us but still his thoughts are encrypted in our hearts forever.

Empty Stands, F 1 Fever and West Indies Savior !!!

Team India’s honeymoon in England ended in a nightmare and what followed was a vengeance when England toured India in October this year. It was a perfect redemption against a humiliation which India suffered in Great Britain just a month back. But Cricket fanatics, media and sports lovers all around the globe witnessed one thing that had never happened before. It was empty stands for One Day Internationals played in India. India- England ODI series was poorly attended by the spectators at all venues around India raising questions about the future of ODI Cricket and also about Cricket in general.

At the same time Indian Grand Prix a Formula One Racing event was organized for the first time in India on 30^th October at Buddh International Circuit in Noida. It was a block buster event with around 95000 people attending the race. Just five days prior this event i.e. on 25^th of October, the final ODI was played between India and England at Kolkata and it attracted only ten to twelve thousand people. The ground capacity of Eden Gardens was close to 65000. The empty Eden Gardens is probably the worst ever sight for a cricket viewer as this ground has a history of holding 100 thousand odd people even for Test Matches. Eden Gardens were relayed during the world cup and the capacity was reduced from l, 20,000 to 65000.

After the England series few cricket pundits put forward their analysis regarding low-turnouts. Some wrote about Cricket Overdose, some mentioned about lack of superstars like Sachin, Sehwag and Yuvraj, some spoke about high ticket prices, some even cited the festive season of Diwali as the reason for low turn outs. For me apart from these reasons other main reason was repetition of the same opponent against whom Team India played 5 ODI‘s just a month back. Other main reason was the time gap between Nokia Champions League final and the 1^st ODI against England was merely four days. Also all the matches were played in metros and big cities which hosted IPL matches just few months back. So the viewers who were engrossed in the T20 extravaganza took time to get adjusted to the traditional fifty overs Cricket.

Even though India humiliated England “5-0” in the home series but the question haunting cricket lovers in India was the low turnouts during ODI’s in the country where Cricket is considered as a religion. In this back drop BCCI announced the itinerary of the West Indies series which consisted of 3 Tests and 5 ODI’s. Test Series started just after 9 days of the England series and first two Tests in Delhi and Kolkata witnessed low turnouts. But since it was a Test Series and the opponents was West Indies it was probably expected. India won first two tests and the series and the final test in Mumbai was virtually a dead rubber. MCA i.e Mumbai Cricket Association made a good move and slashing ticket rates considerably and permitting free entry for school students inside the stadium.

But what got the crowds back to the stadium was the expectation of Sachin’s 100^th hundred. A record which cricket fans of Mumbai wanted their God to score in his home ground and they wanted to witness history in front of their eyes. Crowds started filling Wankhede since third day when India started batting and the crowd continued to fill the stadium till the final day when the Test ended in a last ball draw. Trend continued during the ODI series and all the five matches of the one day series were house-full. Sehwag’s world record in the fourth ODI when he made 219 runs also gave this series historical importance. Also the venues for this series were small cities like Indore, Vizag and Cuttack which helped BCCI as people from these areas are starved of Cricket.

So, the West Indies Series which many feared would be one of the worst attended series turned out to be a super hit extravaganza and the crowds were back in large numbers to support their Team India. Also for television viewers, it’s very depressing to see empty stadiums in the background when they are watching Live cricket on TV. They can easily lose interest in the match and start playing with their remote and surf for other means of entertainment. Finally West Indies series also emphasized that England Series was just a bad dream and Cricket still for sure holds the “Numero Uno” status in India when you talk about Sports and Entertainment.

Sachin and his 100th Hundred

It was on 12^th of March 2011 during World Cup that Sachin reached his 99^th international hundred. It was against South Africa at Jamtha in Nagpur. Sachin batted like a king on that day and made the likes of Steyn, Morkel and Kallis look like weeping school boys. Unfortunately India went on to lose that match and the old story of Sachin getting hundred and India losing poked its head out. Sachin got his 48^th ODI hundred on that day to go along with 51 hundreds he scored in test match cricket.

So media, stats guru all got busy and worked out a new record which had and which will never ever happen again. It was 100 international hundreds. Media hyped that record to such an extent that it became important as winning the World Cup. Fortunately India won the trophy but sadly Sachin was not able to get that elusive ton during World Cup. He came very score during semifinal against Pakistan when he got out on 85 runs. India won that game and for time being 100^th hundred took a back stage rather than a headline in news papers.

Next match for India and Sachin was World Cup final and that too on his home ground at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. Million heart beats were cheering for India as usual and in one corner of their hearts they wanted to witness Sachin’s 100^th hundred on such a big stage like a Final day of World Cup. Sadly Sachin was dismissed on 18 on that big day and the disappointment among millions of Indian supporters was felt all across the planet. When Malinga forced Sachin to edge one to Sangakara behind stumps, the silence which followed across the stadium express everything. That moment at Wankhede was a perfect epitome of “Pin Drop Silence”. India won the match and World Cup which made people forget the disappointment for some time.

After World Cup India toured England and once again media was at its best promoting the 100^th hundred. 1^st Test of the series was played at Lords which is also called as “Mecca of Cricket”. Sachin has never got a hundred at Lords even when his Mumbai mate Ajit Agarkar has got one there. So everyone wanted Sachin to reach the landmark here. But Sachin was out cheaply in both innings and the wait continued. India’s disastrous campaign in England moved from Lords to Nottingham to Birmingham and finally it came back to Oval in London. India was humiliated “3-0” by England and the only purpose of playing the last test was to avoid the white wash.

It was the last day at Oval and India were fighting to save the test match which was looking unlikely by going with the current batting form of Indian team. Sachin Tendulkar and Amit Mishra were at the crease and it was just a matter of time for England. When Sachin nicks one to the keeper the rest will follow him was the thinking of the England team. But Sachin and Mishra looked solid right through the first session and India were sitting pretty at 269/3 with a chance of saving the Test match. Sachin was batting on 91 and suddenly the old recorded came back to everyone’s mind from commentators to media to cricket followers.

Sachin’s 100^th hundred will bring smile to the entire country who was disappointed with the current performance of the team in England was the general perception. But suddenly disaster struck when Sachin tried to flick a delivery from Bresnan through the On side. He missed the ball and was caught plump in front to the disappointment of his more than million followers. But being a hardcore Sachin fan I personally did not wanted Sachin to reach such a huge landmark in a losing cause for his team.

Sachin missed the next two ODI series against England due to injury and came back for the ongoing West Indies series. First test at the Kotla was concluded just couple of days back and India won the match by chasing at a stiff target of 276 on a dicey wicket at Kotla. Once again Sachin Tendulkar was the man who took India to a winning position by scoring masterly 76 runs .As soon as Sachin crossed 50 all news channels, commentators started discussing about the 100^th hundred.

It was a perfect scenario for master to reach the landmark but sadly he missed the flipper from Bishoo and was adjudged leg before. But I think looking at the way Sachin started batting once he reached 70 runs looked as if master has taken a bit of pressure on himself to get the landmark. By looking at the destiny of the great man who won the World Cup in his own backyard for India it may be a perfect scenario for him to score his 100^th hundred at his backyard at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai when the last test begins there from 22^nd of November.

Shegav- Ambejogai- Shirdi- A Divine Journey to the Soul!!

Last week was a divine experience for me. Not many people are fortunate enough to take blessings of Siddhivinayak, Gajanan Maharaj, Ambejogai and SaiBaba in span of one week. Well I was one of those lucky souls to witness the magic of worship. My Divine journey to the soul started from 11^th of October and since it is a Journey it just came to a small halt and not an End.

After seeking the blessings of Siddhivinayak I left for Pune on11th of October. After a night halt at myMaushi’s place, I along with my Maushi, Kaka, cousins and Aaji proceeded for Shegav from Pune on 12^th of October. We hired a Xylo for our Tour. We left Pune at 1 PM in noon so much of our Journey was during day time and I was fortunate enough to witness the beautiful scenery, green fields, flowing lakes of Maharashtra.

A journey from Pune to Shegav is approximately 450 kms and it took almost 12 hours for us to reach Shegav. We reached Shegav at 1 AM in night. After booking rooms at “Bhakt Niwas” which is a hotel managed by Sant Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan Shegav we called it a day at around 2:30 AM in night. Shegav basically comes in Buldhana district in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Shegav is a pilgrimage place of Sant Gajanan Maharaj. Sant Gajanan Maharaj resided in Shegav and with his miraculous powers cured problems of his followers. Sant Gajanan Maharaj took Samadhi in Shegav.

When you visit Shegav you can experience the existence of Gajanan Maharaj even today at this holy place. A remote village in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, Shegav is truly blessed by Gajanan Maharaj’s miraculous powers. Shree Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan Shegav is a trust who takes care of most of the proceedings in Shegav. “Bhakt Nivas” managed by Shree Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan Shegav has almost 700 rooms which are available for accommodation at very cheap rates. Sansthan also has various educational institutes, hospitals in Shegav under its control.

On 13^th of October I was blessed with the darshan of Gajanan Maharaj Samadhi. Gajanan Maharaj temple at Shegav is a perfect epitome of discipline. Social workers are present all around the temple and everything is well managed inside the Temple. After consuming Mahaprasad which consists of Bhakri, Dal and Ladoo we proceeded for Ambejogai in afternoon. Journey from Shegav to Ambejogai was fun and thrilling. At a point we went from a road which lots of villagers were telling us to avoid for safety purpose. When our Xylo passed from Parbhani I commanded our driver to stop at Parbhani. The reason being that I was so attracted with the name “Parbhani” that I wanted to get down there at least for some time.

Even rain made its presence felt during the trip towards Ambejogai. After a long drive of around 9 hours we reached Ambejogai at 10 PM in night. We stayed at “Yogeshwari Palace” hotel which is a nice place to stay at Ambejogai. Rooms are neat and clean and are supplemented by high quality room service. Ambejogai is a small village located in the Marathwada region in Beed district of Maharashtra. Lots of people visit Ambejogai to take darshan of Yogeshwari Devi. YogeshwariDevi Temple is an ancestral old age temple with a “Prachin” or Ancient feel to it. YogeshwariDevi is a “kuldaivat” of Konkanstha Brahmin community. After taking the darshan of YogeshwariDevi on 14^th October we headed back to Pune at night around 9 PM. I came to Mumbai on 15^th of October.

On 16th of October I along with my family left for Shirdi at 6:30 AM in morning. We reached Shirdi in afternoon at around 12:30 PM. Since it was a Sunday I was expecting a long wait in the queue for Darshan. But to my surprise we got darshan of Saibaba in less than an hour. Saibaba’s idol at Shirdi is really magical and you can feel the existence of Saibaba around you just by looking at that beautiful Idol. After taking darshan of the sacred Neem tree, Baba’s Chawdi and DwarkaMai Masjid we came back to Mumbai at around 9:30 PM in night.

So my divine journey from Siddhivinayak to Shegav to Ambejogai to Shirdi came to a halt on 16^th of October. It was a beautiful journey which refreshed not only my body and mind but also my Soul. Now I am waiting for my next divine expedition. I would just like to share the route from Pune to Shegav, Shegav to Ambejogai and Ambejogai to Pune as it might be useful for someone.

ShivSena – Its not a Party but a Revolution

After blogging for more than couple of years I still was not able to write about my Passion i.e. ShivSena. Well I think all special things need a special occasion and on the eve of Dussehra I am writing about ShivSena. So why Dussehra??? Dussehra also called as VijayaDashmi is a festival of Hindus and is celebrated to mark the victory of Lord Rama over the evil Ravana. It is an auspicious occasion for Hindus. So how is Dusshera connected with ShivSena?? Well ShivSena is only political party which promotes Hindutva in Hindustan and on occasion of Dussehra, ShivSena conducts a huge rally at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

Dussehra rally is a 40 year old tradition of ShivSena. People from all over India visit Shivaji Park to listen to the speech of their favorite leader Shivsena Supremo Balasaheb Thackeray. It is not only the speech but for us ShivSainiks these are the words of GOD which give us belief, power and inspiration to fulfill our dreams and work towards betterment of Hindustan. Well ShivSena calls India as Hindustan, the reason being that more than 80% of our population is Hindus. So our country should be a Hindu country and called “Hindustan”. But for vote bank politics Congress over the years have made India a secular country and no party other than ShivSena wants Hindustan to be a Hindu Country.

ShivSena was born on June 19 1966 to fight for the right of Marathi Manoos in Mumbai. Even though Mumbai belonged to Marathis and was capital of Maharashtra, Marathis in Mumbai were living a miserable life. People from outside states were entering Mumbai and were creating problems for local Mumbaikars. Congress government because of their vote bank politics were not concerned about the Marathi speaking people and this added to the woes of Marathis in Mumbai. They were looking for a leader who will fight for their rights in their own city. And in came the revolution in the name of “Balasaheb Keshav Thackeray”- A leader which showed Marathi Manoos how to live with pride and dignity in Mumbai.

As mentioned earlier BalaSaheb Thackerey formed Shivsena on 19^th of June 1966. Shiv-Sena means army of Shivaji Maharaj (a valiant Maratha warrior who led the foundation of Hindavi Swaraj in Hindustan). On 30^th October 1966 BalaSaheb Thackeray organized first ShivSena melava at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. Melava was attended by millions of people from all around Maharashtra and turned out to be revolution in the history of Indian Politics. A new political party was born whose main aim was to fight against injustice on Marathi Manoos. During that Melava BalaSaheb Thackeray talked about the problem of influx of migrants in Mumbai and inspired Marathi people to start their own business rather than spending their life working under others.

ShivSena’s primary objective is to work for “Marathi Manus”. Lot of ShivSena affiliated bodies like BKS (Bhartiya Kamgar Sena), Sthaniya Lokadhikar Samiti look into the issues faced by Marathis in various sectors. They have a strong union in lots of big companies like Reliance, Indian Oil and so on and their main objective is to see that preference is given to Marathi people during recruitment and also address other issues faced by Marathi Manus in this companies. Operations of ShivSena are controlled from “SenaBhavan” in Dadar. Lots of ShivSena big leaders sit in SenaBhavan and are accessible at most times to solve the problems of public. ShivSena major meetings, decisions, press conferences are held at SenaBhavan. There are also lectures given on various subjects like career options, various career opportunities for youth at SenaBhavan.

ShivSena also see to it that in most of the government sectors like Banks, Railways, Insurance whose branches are in Mumbai first preference for job is given to local Marathi people in Mumbai. Apart from this ShivSena in affiliation with various training institutes conduct various training courses at a very low cost or at times even free of cost. ShivSena also indulges in social service like organizing blood donation camps, Eye Check up and Eye donation camps, provide vegetables and food grains at a very low cost and so on. ShivSena also has a 24 hours ambulance service in most of the cities in Maharashtra.

ShivSena resorted to Hindutva in 1993 after the Babari Masjid Demolition. Babari Masjid was demolished on 6^th Dec 1992 and it’s after effects were spread all around India. Even in Mumbai there was lot of communal tensions between Hindus and Muslims. During these growing tensions Mumbai witnessed the series of Bomb blasts on 12^th of March 1993 which led to the riots between Hindus and Muslims in city. During this time ShivSena supported lots of innocent Hindus and even Muslims in Mumbai and ShivSena supremo BalaSaheb Thackeray came to be known as HinduhrudaySamrat all around Hindustan. ShivSena and BalaSaheb Thackerey have also targeted Pakistan on plenty of occasions and are of the opinion that till there should not be any friendship with Pakistan till there is an end to cross border Terrorism Even today if anyone speaks against Hindusm, ShivSena is the first party to target that individual or organization.

ShivSena along with BJP ruled Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999 and carried out plenty of development work like construction of 55 flyovers in Mumbai, and connecting Mumbai and Pune through Express highway. ShivSena also undertook lots of projects for Marathi Manus in Maharashtra when they were in power. One striking thing to note was that during these 5 years the prices of basic necessities like Sugar, Kerosene, Tur Dal where never increased. ShivSena also experience some heartbreak when the trusted leaders like Narayan Rane and Raj Thackerey parted away from the party.

BalaSaheb Thackerey even today controls ShivSena. However because of the growing age of BalaSaheb, much of the party affairs are handled by UddhavSaheb Thackeray (son of BalaSaheb Thackeray) under the guidance of BalaSaheb. Aditya Thackeray who is the son of UddhavSaheb Thackeray is currently heading YuvaSena a youth wing of the party. There is plenty to write about ShivSena (I think a whole book can be published) but since it is a Blog I am stopping it right here. I just pray to the God that in coming years ShivSena should rule Maharashtra which is presently plagued by incompetent leadership of Cong-NCP Government. I also dream that one day our ShivSena’s saffron Flag waves proudly in Lal Quilla in Delhi.

Nuclear accident occurred in Chernobyl Nuclear plant on 26^th April 1986. The effect of this accident was felt in almost 20 countries in Europe. According to UN report, the rays of this nuclear plant crossed almost 1000 kilometers and passed Atlantic Ocean to reach Canada and Pacific Ocean to reach Japan. Within few years after this dreaded nuclear accident thousands of people lost their lives because of nuclear radiation. On the occasion of 20^th anniversary of Chernobyl disaster, Mr. Kofi Annan in his speech stated that “Even today around 70, 00,000 people are affected by nuclear rays. Out of which around 30, 00, 000 are children and there is a dreaded possibility that most of this children die in their childhood.

People that were living within 30 kilometer radius of the Chernobyl power plant have been shifted permanently to safe places.”Pripiyat”, a city where the workers working in the power plant used to reside also fall within this radius. This 50000 odd population city has now become a ghost city with hardly anyone living there. “Kyshtym” a city in Russia is also facing a similar situation. Chernobyl nuclear accident has made this city into a mere barren land with no signs of life or vegetation. So Jaitapur power plant proposal is not only dangerous for Mumbai, Maharashtra but for whole of India.

Life on earth is really very beautiful. Money, Technology is nothing when compared with nature. Unfortunately by running after nuclear power, nuclear energy we are not making right use of the unlimited abilities of our mind. Nuclear power plant produces Plutonium which is an important ingredient for making nuclear bombs. 1000 mega watts capacity nuclear power plant produces around 300 to 500 kilos of Plutonium in a year which is sufficient for making around 50 nuclear bombs. So in the name of generating electricity, nuclear power plant has helped in development of nuclear bombs which is a major threat to this world.

On 26^th April 2011, Chernobyl nuclear disaster completed 25 years. Millions lost their lives in this nuclear accident and even today most of the children are born with some physical disabilities. The whole world knows about the nuclear disaster which occurred in Fukushima city in Japan on 11^th of March 2011. Both these incidents have taken place on eve of agitation against the Jaitapur power plant. By supporting the nuclear power plant why is government not ready to point out the devastating effects of Jaitapur power plant?? The Konkan region which has been continuously ignored by government has been surprisingly favored for construction of nuclear power plant.

“AREVA”, a company in France has been handed over the responsibility for the construction of Jaitapur power plant. This company is one of the black listed companies in entire Europe and its construction of Uranium pressurized reactor in Finland is still creating lots of problems for the people of Finland and government as whole. People of Europe and America are against the use of nuclear power, so to keep the companies in this region running India has been made a mere scapegoat. Europe after the Chernobyl disaster and America after the Three mile disaster in 1979 have not undertaken any nuclear development programe till date.

The construction cost of around six nuclear plants in Jaitapur comes in the range of 180000 crores. Government has to raise this money in the form of loan from organizations like World Bank i.e. America. If India is not able to repay such a huge loan, then America and other western countries will take complete control over India’s natural resources. The compensation of Chernobyl disaster came to around 25 lakh crore rupees so Insurance companies are not ready to take down Insurance of nuclear power plants. Construction of Jaitapur power plant will be like sleeping with nuclear bombs for the people of Konkan region. So everyone should unanimously oppose the proposed Jaitapur power plant as it is a big threat to the green paradise of Konkan and also for Maharashtra and entire India.

World famous doctors and scientists have made their observations about the adverse effects of the nuclear rays. Dr. Gofman and Dr. Taplin conducted a study in association with American Government which proved that the rays generated by Nuclear Power Plant are responsible for the deaths of lots of new born babies. According to Dr.Manfuso the causes of deaths of most of the workers working in Hanford Power Plant is because of the radiation generated in the Power Plant. Dr. Edward Garden in association with the Canadian government conducted a study which highlighted the adverse effects of Radiation on human life.

Organizations like Green Peace have also conducted an in-depth study about each and every aspect of Nuclear Energy. In 2009 the group of renowned radiation specialists conducted a conference in Lesvos city of Greece. The bulletin published indicated that there is no security level for radiation and it is harmful in many ways.

Effects of Tarapur power plant on nearby villages of Ghivali, Ucheli and Dandi

- Symptoms of Cancer.

- Feeling of dizziness, weakness early in the morning.

- Body pain, tiredness.

- Large number of deaths of infants.

- Loss of mental balance.

- Kidney failure.

- Fishes in nearby lakes and ponds are taken for studies but the reports are never out.

- Long working hours in radiation related projects.

- Sea life in this region is on the verge of extinction and villagers here feel that they are completely destroyed. Diseases mentioned above prove the effects of radiation in the villages of Palghar, Dahanu and Thane region. Apart from this, the villagers in this region are facing problems of livelihood, rehabilitation and lack of facilities.

Effects of nuclear power plant are long term and continuous because when this power plant is functioning silently it continuously emits rays. The effect is felt most in the areas which are in the radius of 35 km from the Nuclear Plant. As mentioned earlier rays from nuclear plant are the causes of dangerous disease like cancer. “Helen Caldicott” the famous Australian physician has mentioned in one of her books that if the current flow of nuclear energy goes on then the air we breathe food we eat and the water we drink will be polluted by nuclear rays and will have serious effects on human life.

The workers working in nuclear plants are never given any information about the amount of nuclear rays entered in their bodies. Lots of times these workers are kept under the false information that there is only a negligible amount of nuclear rays which enter their bodies while working in Nuclear power plant. That’s the reason most of the workers are appointed to work on contract basis in high intensity nuclear power plants. Nuclear rays pollute fruits, fishes, crops, meat.etc. Consumption of these polluted foods damage human body. Various fruits like mangoes, cashews, fishes, meat, crops etc are produced in Konkan region. Construction of Jaitapur power plant will pollute these food items which will result in decline of export of these food items.

Hi! I am “Mumbai”. People call me “City of Dreams”, “Heaven on Earth”, “A City which Never Sleeps” blah….blah. Now they can add another name in their list “City of Bombs”. Yes this is what I am today. Already I am plagued with Over Population, filthiness, Corruption and now yet another demon has arrived to torture me and this is probably the most dangerous one. It is “Terrorism”. Well this thing is haunting me since last 18 years but my Dad i.e. India is still not talking any action against it.

I am targeted by my Dad’s beloved neighbor i.e. Pakistan since last 18 years but still my Dad tells me to remain calm. Some of his high level authorities visit me after this attacks and advices me to show my “Mumbai Spirit” i.e. to get on road the next day to earn bread and butter. Yes I know all my citizens have to do this otherwise it will difficult for them to live. But what about the innocents who are killed? Were they not doing anything? Weren’t they the Son, Daughter, Mother, Father of someone? What will happen to their families?

But my “Mumbai Spirit” says to me just Fuck Off!!! Mind your own business. This type of attacks happen in today’s world and your Dad’s ministry is not capable of defending it. So go on with your “Spirit”. Enjoy the Bhel at Juhu Beach, Sip in Vodka at Resto Pub, Bet Money in Mahalaxmi Race Course, Shop at Link Road. Enjoy life “MUMBAI”. There is so much fun around and you are concern about this small things “Waise Bade Bade Shehron Mein Choti Choti Baatein hoti rehti hein”.

But now time has come for me to show my “Real Mumbai Spirit”. This demon almost shattered me in 1993, twice in 2003, in 2008 it took me hostage, and now in 2011 it is yet again destroying me. This year I witnessed in my backyard the happiest moment in my life when “Dad you became the World Champion in a Sport which is also a religion in our Kingdom”. All citizens were having fun probably enjoying what was the best moment in their lives. But just after couple of months I am targeted by our beloved neighbors.

What is my fault now?? Dad you know, you almost destroyed them in 1965 and 1971, but somehow they escaped and are taking their revenge. They always hated us but each time we reciprocated it with Love. But what is the use. They destroyed my beautiful sister i.e. Kashmir which was envied by the whole world and now they are after me. And you still want me to show my “Mumbai Spirit”. Yes I am going to show my real “Mumbai Spirit”.

Dad now enough is enough. It’s time for you to take some strict action. Do what Obama did with Laden, just go in there and get “Dawood” first. Hang that Bastard Kasab and Afzal Guru ASAP. Just throw the Pakistanis who are living here. Throw them to Islamabad, Karachi or from any hell where they came. My heart says that “I want war with them Dad, I want to end this forever”. But I know Dad there are some innocent who are living there and they may be killed.

We can at least give them warning Dad. Cut off all ties with them, Put pressure on UN to declare them as Terrorist country. Cut all Bus Services, Rail Services, Flight Services .etc. and warn them that this is It! Now if you killed any of the innocent in my Land, your whole country will be finished. Come on DAD!!! It’s Time for you to show the “REAL HINDUSTANI SPIRIT” and prove the whole world that we are the country where with Gandhi martyrs like Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Rana Pratap, Swatanryaveer Sawarkar, Bhagat Singh were born.

Jaitapur Power Plant will also have severe effect on the marine life of Jaitapur Madban and other nearby villages. In 1989-90 National Institute of oceanography conducted a study to find out the impact of Jaitapur Power Plant on the Marine life in this region. This report states that “Jaitapur is blessed with pure and excellent marine life. If this project makes use of sea water for the purpose of heating and the water is deposited back in sea again, it will completely destroy the marine life in this region”.

Even a small change in the temperature can affect the marine life. This project will need around 5200 crores litres of water from the sea for the cooling purpose. This will increase the temperature by 12 degrees by the time the water is deposited back in the sea. So because of this Power Plant, the marine life in Jaitapur faces the danger of extinction. Based on the above observations the government should rightfully cancel the Jaitapur Power Plant.

Other institutes like” Central water and power research station” and” Mumbai natural history society” have also conducted their study on this nuclear project and submitted their report as to how this project will affect the marine life in this region. Institutes like “National Geographic” have stated that how the radiation rays from this power plant will affect the Marine life. Due to Industrialization in cities like Mumbai and other suburbs in recent years, the quality of seafood in the creeks, sea and rivers in this region has severely deteriorated. If this nuclear project starts in Jaitapur then it will affect the high quality and tasty sea food, for which Konkan is famous for.

Nuclear power plant is not only an option for generating electricity. Natural resources like sunlight, wind, flowing water, coal .etc. can be used to generate electricity. “Saving electricity” means “generating electricity”. Around 39% to 52% of electricity can be saved which is otherwise wasted. Some of the measures to save electricity are to use less electricity, electricity which is wasted in vehicles can be saved, use of unwanted electricity in Malls, Shopping complex, restaurants can also be cut down.

Let’s look at the few interesting facts about the nuclear power plant and electricity. Even if today all the nuclear power plants are shut down it won’t affect the production of electricity. The electricity produced by natural resources will be enough to fulfill the requirements of electricity. The fact does not apply to India alone but the entire world. For example in America, only the flowing winds in Rocky Mountains and Mississippi river is sufficient to generate the amount of electricity which is three times more the amount consumed by entire America.

According to newspaper reports, it was stated that Dapoli agricultural university has given green signal to the Jaitapur nuclear project. Dr. vagdhare of Madban district made use of “Right to Information Act” to find more on the issue. After that Dapoli agricultural university made it clear that they had given information only about the “animals” and “vegetation” in the region. They have neither supported nor rejected the Jaitapur power plant. Nuclear Corporation of India (NPCIL) at times think that they are more powerful than the law. Without waiting for the official permission from the forest and environmental ministry, one of the board officials of the (NPCIL) announced that work for constructing Jaitapur power plant will begin from 1^st of July. This showed how the NPCIL does not adhere to the law and democracy of this country.

Why “No” to Jaitapur Power Plant (Part 1)!!!

The news currently hitting the headlines at least in Maharashtra apart from IPL is about the Jaitapur Power Plant. First let us know about the Power Plant. Jaitapur Nuclear Project is a new proposed power project of Nuclear Corporation of India (NPCIL) at Madban village of Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra. Indian government believes that Jaitapur project is a safe, environmental friendly and economically viable source of electrical energy to meet the increasing electricity needs of India.

As per the Pendse- Kadrekar committee report in 2006, Areas like Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri in konkan need only 170 watts of electricity. Government has planned to generate 42000 mega watts of electricity from this project which is up to 30 % of India’s total electricity production. Because of this there will be adverse effects on the ecological balance of the Konkan region which is otherwise famous for its natural beauty. Maharashtra faces electricity shortage of 4000 mega watts which can be taken care of by other means of generating electricity apart from nuclear energy.

The land of the villagers of Madban which is captured by the government for this nuclear project is fertile and famous for production of products like Mangoes, Cashew, Coconut, Kokam, Spices and more. But the government maliciously has showed this land as barren and unproductive. Other activities like Rice Production, grass fields for feeding cattle will also be affected because of this nuclear energy project.

“Nate” and other coastal villages will be severely affected because of the radiation generated by the nuclear energy project. Even though this project will affect the marine life of these coastal villages still the government has maintained completely secrecy about this situation. Farmers and Fisherman in these areas are strongly against this project. Although government has agreed to relocate them and give them compensation, these villagers want to continue with their traditional business of farming and fishing.

On 16^th May 2009 on the auspicious occasion of “AkhshayTritiya” there was a meeting about this project. Thousands of villagers who were present at the meeting strongly opposed the project, but still Environment and Forest ministry gave no objection certificate to this project which is really shameful. Because of this nuclear energy project the natural beauty, history and culture of the entire Konkan region will be destroyed.

The areas of Jaitapur Madban are also Earthquake prone. Since last 20 years there had been around 93 minor Earthquakes in this region. Many Earthquake specialists who had conducted studies in this region have declared this as earthquake prone. Hot water springs in the areas of Vasai, Vajreshwari, Sangameshwar and Rajapur also come under this belt which is also the matter of concern.

Mumbai-Ratnagiri coastal belt which comes under “Zone 4” is also termed as high risk area. In 1972 government appointed Dr. M.V.Vengurlaker committee to conduct the study on earthquakes. According to this committee “No nuclear plant should be constructed on Zone3, 4 and 5”. Based on these conditions given above, the government should rightfully cancel the construction of Jaitapur power plant.

24th April – Happy Birthday “SACHIN”!!!!

While watching CSK vs MI watch at Wankhede, there was in interesting banner on display. It read “24^th April 2011- World Cricket Day “. The very idea of having Cricket day excited me and too on 24^th April, the date when the greatest cricket of all time was born. 24^th April 1973 should be written in GOLD in the History of World Cricket. This was the very date when the “Little Champion” was born in the Marathi land of Mumbai in India.

Tomorrow is his 38^th birthday and this birthday is very special for the “Little Master”. Because just few days back he fulfilled his dream which every cricketer have in their eyes when they started playing this game. After achieving almost all the records in the game of Cricket only thing that eluded him was to be in the World Cup winning Team. After representing India in five world cups, the dream was never fulfilled. He came very close to achieve it in 2003 but destiny had other things in mind for the “Master Blaster”

The World Cup was in India this year and he was playing his last World Cup (I sincerely hope he plays couple more). The Final was on his home ground. So the stage was set for the Master to perform and win the thing that mattered most to him in Life. He did that, played beautifully throughout the tournament and with the help of his team members won the World Cup for his country and gave every Indian a beautiful gift which they will cherish for lifetime.

He has achieved almost everything in the game of Cricket but still the Passion and Love for the game is still there. Watching him play in ongoing IPL, suggests that he has still lots of Cricket left in him. He looks fitter, stronger and after the winning the World Cup the huge burden has been removed from his shoulders. Sachin is like the Wine, the old he gets the better he becomes. I don’t know for how many more years he will play for India but till then it will be a pleasure to see the world’s best cricketer in action.

There are some talks about felicitating Sachin with “Bharat Ratna" and there are few Idiots who are opposing it. But Sachin is already a "Bharat Ratna". It’s time for India to start a new award named “Sachin Ratna” and it should be awarded to those who achieve a lot in life and are still are down to earth like the great Sachin Tendulkar. For every child in India he is a “SUPERMAN”, For a young Girl a” HEART THROB”, For a Young Guy, he is his“ IDOL”, For every Mother he is her “SON”. HE IS THE SON OF INDIA - SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR!!!

Love Thy Neighbor –But why Pakistan ???

There is a famous phrase in Bible “Love Thy Neighbor” and our Country is following this phrase religiously for almost seven decades. India shares its borders with Sri lanka, China, Nepal, Bangladesh, Burma, Bhutan and last but not the least our best friends Pakistan. Sadly our relations with all these countries are not that good. Out of the above mentioned countries India have a major threat from China and Pakistan. I will emphasize about India – China love story and break up in some other blog as this Blog is dedicated to our best friends Pakistan.

Best Friends is the term I am using sarcastically in my Article because of the efforts put in by our Government regularly to improve our relations with Pakistan in spite of the continuous terrorist attacks on our country by our best friend. The latest was couple of years back in Mumbai. If I list down all the terrorist attacks of Pakistan in India, I might keep writing till tomorrow. But still I found some stuff on Wikipedia.

All the above mentioned terrorist attacks were masterminded by some Pakistan’s Terrorist outfit. So we can safely say that India is plagued by Terrorism courtesy Pakistan. By writing this Blog I am not trying to create further rift between two countries but still there are few queries that make me sick.

First and foremost why so much Love to Pakistan? Why that “Aman Ki Asha” and other useless initiatives even after the mayhem they have created in our India. Take an example of Kashmir. The place which was famously called “As Heaven on Earth” because of its natural beauty as been turned into “Living Hell” by our beloved Neighbors. Pakistanis thinks that Kashmir belongs to them.

Kashmir belongs to India and that’s what history suggests. Again why “Kashmir Belongs to India” might need yet another Blog. So Pakistan since Independence had their eye on Kashmir. Once they came to know that it was not possible to get into war with India for Kashmir they started creating Terrorist outfits in the valley. This Pakistan funded Terrorists invaded various parts of Kashmir and slowly but surely started destroying Kashmir by killing local citizens, bombing public places and so on. Kashmiri Pundits who were the natives of Kashmir fled the valley because of Pakistan’s sponsored Terrorism in Kashmir.

Pakistan got into war with India in 1965 and 1971 but on both occasions India emerged victorious. Since then Pakistan came to know that War was not the option and decided to create Terrorist groups to destroy India. They have been successful to an extent in their plan but it is our Indian Government that is to be blame for. Even after 26/11 attacks in Mumbai, Indian Government is still striving for friendship with Pakistan.

But why the hell we need Pakistan. I know war is not the option but we can at least boycott Pakistan. Is there any need to issue visas to Pakistanis to watch Cricket in India? Singers from Pakistan have made Bollywood as their means of livelihood as most of our directors are calling Pakistani singers to sing in our movies. Why we need Pakistan’s Adnan, Rahat and Atif singing in Indian movies when we have our own Sonu, Sukhwinder ,Shaan and Rehman.

Indian movies and television shows are banned in Pakistan where as every Indian movie now- a- days is not complete without some Pakistani singer or actor. Why so much Love for Pakistan? Why cannot our government adopt a simple Agenda that “Till cross border Terrorism continues to haunt India especially Kashmir, there will be no relation of any sort with Pakistan”. I know the phrase “Love Thy Neighbor” but Neighbor should be lovable but sadly this is not the case with Pakistan

Those Small Things!!!

Well it has been fun writing about my Passion i.e CRICKET. But writing only about one subject can be monotonous especially for readers. So I have decided to add few more variations to my Blog apart from Cricket. When World Cup was on, whole India was Eating, Drinking and Sleeping Cricket and immediately IPL has come.

Cricket fever is still gripping India but WC was like a Dream, a War which India wanted to win but IPL is more entertainment than Passion, I know everyone has their own favorite team but the passion for your country is nonpareil. Every game was huge in World Cup especially in knock out stages. But not so with IPL, so I will just update few Blogs in between about IPL. Well now I will get back to what I am here to write about.

There are some Small things in life that you have to live with. These things can be irritating, make you angry but they are the part and parcel of your life. I will list down few such small things that at times made me livid, mad and crazy. If you are a short-tempered as I am, then these things might be more dreadful. I will list down few examples especially from my personal experiences.

In a city like Mumbai, you are accustomed to live in those high storyed buildings or Towers. If you are late for a meeting or appointment, and you rush out of your flat and press the button of the building lift. Nine times out of ten, the lift is either at some lower floor i.e. if you are at 15^th floor lift will be at 1^st or ground floor or lift door will be left opened somewhere by someone and it will take ages for the lift to reach your floor.

If you are waiting for a bus, more often than not all other buses which are not going to your route will come first. Sometimes it can be more than 15 to 20 minutes at the bus stop and still there will be no sign of your bus. Frustrated by the events, you will take the auto and when you peep out of the auto, you will see that bus for which you were waiting since last 20 minutes at the bus stop or just right next to your auto. To add salt to your wounds, the bus will be empty and you will curse yourself for spending 50 bucks for a journey which would cost you just 10 bucks.

Now its summer time in Mumbai and climate is seriously hot. When you come home in evening after spending a busy day in office or outdoors, you will take off the shirt from your body to get rid of heat. When you are enjoying your favorite Television show lying half-naked on the bed, suddenly the door bell rings and some unwanted guests arrives at your home and immediately you rush in to cover yourself with another T-Shirt or Shirt .

This example is related to my Business. I am into Real Estate Business; my job is to help clients to buy flats. We try to show around three to four flats to a client. When a client likes a flat from the options we showed him, either that flat is sold out earlier or the owner of the flat has decided not to sell the flat now. To make the matters worse, the client takes out his frustration on us by telling us” why the hell you showed us the flat when it was already sold out?”

Apart from the above examples there are various other small things which might upset or make you angry say when you go to a restaurant and the food item you wanted is unavailable, or on a Friday evening when you are busy working out on your weekend plans with your friends, your Team Leader enters your Cabin and announces “Guys we are working this Saturday”. So this are the small things that can be irritating, annoying, maddening but you have to live with it.

It’s Time For IPL 4 – But!!

So the World Cup is finally over. Still the Euphoria is there but the tournament is done with. “TEAM INDIA” has emerged as the conquerors of the world and celebrations are still on all around India. From Mumbai to Ranchi to Kashmir to Chennai, the whole India is still enjoying the moment, soaking in the fact that we are the World Champs. After a month and a half of hard work, heart breaks and brilliance, INDIA finally won the World Cup.

But suddenly new banners are flaunting all over Mumbai with this words “IPL ON To Saara Bharat Bandh”. After looking at the banners and watching the commercials on Television we are forced to realize that another tournament is coming in couple of days. Well it’s more of a revolution than a tournament. It’s a place where players are bought and sold; beautiful females make their presence felt and some famous businessmen and film stars start cheering for their team.

Yes it’s time for Indian Premier League, one of the most awaited sporting spectacle in the world of sports. The tournament is held every year in India (except for some unforeseen events) and players from all over the world are divided in teams which are named after the Indian states. To get some loyal support every franchise uses the state or city name and ironically there are just two to three players of that state in the entire squad.

Take for example “Mumbai Indians”, which is one of the squad owned by India’s leading business tycoon. Out of twenty five players in the whole squad there are only five players who are born in Mumbai but still the team has its die-hard supporters from Mumbai cheering for them every year. There are around eight foreign players per squad but still out of the remaining seventeen; at least ten should be representing the same state. but sadly it’s not happening.

Foreign players from each team add spice to the tournament. Four foreign players in playing eleven along with few Indian superstars make the tournament interesting and fun to watch for cricket lovers across the globe. The quality of cricket is also high class and with most of high profile matches starting at 8: 00 PM IST, the TV Timings are also suitable for the chunk of Indian viewers.

Since it is a twenty over per side tournament, there is plenty of action throughout the match with hardly a boring moment. It has also brought a new audience to the game apart from the connoisseurs who follow the game regularly. Over all IPL has proved to be a big hit till date. It is one of the biggest success stories in this beautiful game of Cricket.

With World Cup ending just four to five days back and with “TEAM INDIA” winning the World Cup, the entire nation is still soaking the joy of Indian victory. “TEAM INDIA” has also made INDIA united which is sadly divided on the basis of religions and languages. So with IPL starting, will it be possible for Indian fans to support foreign players in their team, in place of Indian stars who they adored and prayed for since last couple of months.

World Cup Final was played at Wankhede and the stadium witnessed history on 2^nd of April when “Team India” won the World Cup there. The final was against the Lankans, and it was “Lasith Malinga” who took the wicket of “Sachin Tendulkar” which brought stadium to a pin drop silence. Ironically Malinga plays for “Mumbai Indians” in IPL and has a huge fan following at Wankhede. But on 2^nd April he was the main culprit who is still cursed all over India for taking Sachin’s wicket.

With “Mumbai Indians” playing their home match against the “ Pune Warriors ” at Wankhede on 20^th April, it will be interesting to see what happens if Malinga cleans up the world cup hero Yuvraj Singh. Will there be a pin drop at Wankhede or will the chant “MALINGA…MALINGA” of 30000 odd spectators echo across the Wankhede.

2-4-2011- A Date With Destiny!!!

“India Rulz World!!” was my first update on FaceBook on 3^rd April at 4:30 A.M. Those three sentences said everything. I was still pinching myself as I could not realize whether it was a dream or everything was real. MSD hitting the winning runs with a six, Yuvi and Bhajji crying like a small kid, The GOD of cricket was taken on shoulders by his teammates and even he committed the small crime on television by having a sip of champagne on screen. Yes we were the champions of the game which was considered as religion in our country.

Till 19^th Feb whenever my elders got the chance they used to tease me by saying “Son, after playing and following cricket for almost a decade, you were not able to witness the greatest glory of the game which is very unfortunate”. When India won the World Cup in 1983 I was just a toddler and did not knew much about life leave alone cricket. My Dad and uncles still narrate the story of that historic day in June in 1983. But now I have my own story to tell and they won’t tease me again as my “TEAM INDIA” has rewritten the history just couple of days back.

I started following cricket in 1992 and became really involved with the game after 1996 World Cup. “Sachin Tendulkar” was the main reason I started watching and playing cricket. Blame it on Sachin that I am so engrossed with the game and follow it like a religion. Till 2^nd April 2011, my most memorable day in Cricket was when “Team India” won Coca-Cola cup in Sharjah on 24^th April 1998, it was like other tournaments but still the innings played by Sachin Tendulkar that too against world-class Australians was one of the best innings every played in the history of ODI cricket. There were many moments after that like Sachin’s 98 against Pakistan in 2003 World Cup and Team India winning the T20 World Cup in 2007.

But the best cricketing moment of my life came after a wait of 13 long years and what a moment it was. ‘Team India” winning the World Cup and fulfilling the dream of a Legend who has been carrying the workload of the entire team for almost 21 years. I still remember the heartbreaks of 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003 and 2007 editions. It is not the time to go back and share what happened in those years. But one thing was common. Every time “Team India” entered the tournament with the hope of winning it and ended on the losing side.

One player was in the Team in all the five editions. He is the best player on the planet and has all the batting records with him in the game. The only thing eluded him for over 21 years was to win the World Cup for his country. He came very close to achieve the feat in 2003. But destiny had written some other script for him. He had to win it in his own country, in his own city and on a ground where he was a ball boy in 1987 edition of World Cup.

Finally his dream, the dream of his teammates, the dream of the entire nation was fulfilled on 2^nd April 2011 in Mumbai when MSD hit Kulasekara over long on for a Six. It was a moment to treasure for lifetime and what followed next was euphoria all around nation. There was no Hindu, no Muslim and everyone took the roads with the Tri-Color in their hands and started chanting “INDIA..INDIA”. India was celebrating Diwali in April and the celebrations are still going on.

I remembered after 2007 T20 World Cup which India won there were also celebrations all around Mumbai, but the celebrations on the night of 2^nd April eclipsed T20 World Cup celebrations and probably 1983 celebrations. It was a very proud moment for a country which has hardly anything to cheer due to the present political turmoil.

The victory lap which I took in my friend’s car and when I waived the “Tri-Color” sitting along the window of the car along with my friend will remain with me for my entire life and till date it is the happiest moment in my life. Thank You “Team India” for giving the entire country a chance to celebrate and one final thing. Till 2015, every Indian can hold their head high while walking on the road wherever they go across the globe and say “We are the World Champs, Don’t mess with us”. LUV U TEAM INDIA.

The GOD, His Temple and a DREAM!!

The day was 23^rd of March 2007, the opponents were Sri Lanka and the venue was Queens Park Oval at Port of Spain. It was Dilhara Fernando bowling and the greatest batsman on the Planet was batting in a bid to chase his unfulfilled dream. Tension was in the air and it was around 1:00 A.M in night when he was bowled by Dilhara Fernando and what followed next were grief, hopelessness, and anguish all around India. Yes it was the End of World Campaign for India, even though there were few batsmen remaining in the hut but every Indian knew that with Sachin gone it was the End.

It was first time in my life I was seeing Sachin so dejected and I remember I was crying the whole night and felt asleep in the morning after I got tired of crying. Next day, Media circulated report of Sachin Tendulkar crying inside the dressing room which added more injury to my already wounded soul. There was funeral like atmosphere all around Mumbai and India. “Team India” was out of WC 2007 even before reaching the Super Eights.

It was probably the last World Cup for three musketeers who had taken Indian cricket to new heights. The three musketeers were Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Saurav Ganguly. Well for two Musketeers their dream was shattered but the first one was very special. He decided to give it another go. For many he is the GOD of Cricket and some things are even tough for GOD. Same can be said about Sachin Tendulkar.

After playing in 5 World Cups and reaching the final on one occasion, the most treasured trophy in Cricket still awaits the Legend. He has almost all batting records in the game of Cricket but sadly he has never been a part of World Cup winning team. He has given his best in all World Cup editions but still the most wanted trophy in cricket eludes him.

After serving his country more than two decades, the body has become tired, reflexes have become slower but the passion and still the same. The GOD has given him one final chance to achieve his dream and make his country proud. Sometimes few scripts are written above. So here is the script written by GOD for his replica on Earth. He has a chance to win the World Cup in his own country and in a city in which he was born.

He has 99 international centuries and GOD has given him a Golden chance to score his 100^th century on a stage where whole world will watch him play and occasion which will be encrypted in the memories of his fans forever. Come On SACHIN, win the World Cup for “TEAM INDIA” as I want to shed tears again as I did in 2007 but the tears will be of Joy, Satisfaction and will be treasured by me for entire life time.

Judgment Day (Part 3 – Final Destination)

So the day has finally arrived. After toiling hard for over a month, “TEAM INDIA” is finally in the Final of the WC 2011. And the opponents are our mercurial neighbors separated by the sea named “Sethusamudram” down South of India. The team is Sri Lanka who along with India and Bangladesh are also the co-hosts of WC 2011.

“Team India” was one of the favorites’ to make the final and they are finally there. It has not been an easy ride in the park for “Men In Blue “. After playing some high quality, consistent and absorbing cricket throughout the tournament they booked their ticket for Mumbai. They had easy victories over Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands and West Indies and had to contain with a Tie against England and were defeated by South Africa in the group stages. After playing some ordinary cricket during group phase they raised their games in knockouts and defeated world champions Australia and dangerous Pakistan in quarters and Semi finals respectively.

Sri Lanka too has not been at their best throughout the tournament. They started their World Cup campaign by beating Canada but were surprised by Pakistan in their next match. They had easy victories against the minnows Kenya and Zimbabwe and there much anticipated clash against the Aussies was a wash out. They defeated New Zealand just before the knockouts which gave them some confidence before the big games. With England and New Zealand in quarters and semis, Sri Lanka was lucky to cruise through the Final however not before few hiccups against the Kiwis.

So now it’s about the Big One. The main thing to India’s advantage is that they have faced two tough opponents in a lead up to the Final. Victory against arch –rivals Pakistan in semi finals is a perfect Tonic for Team India before the Big Match at Mumbai. It was like a Final before the Final and “TEAM INDIA” played some tough cricket in that match to beat Pakistan. However Sri Lanka is different than Pakistan. They are thorough professionals and are oozing with confidence. All the Pressure will be on India as the Final is been held in their home turf.

It is important for “Team India” to get their bowling combination right. The media grapevine is that Ashish Nehra is not fit for the Final and so Ravichandran Ashwin might get a go. India’s batting is their strength and if India bats first they should to try to post a decent total depending on the track. The wicket at Wankhede is not a flat track or a “National Highway” as Sunny and Ravi would say and has a bit of bounce and carry which will be good news for fast bowlers from both the sides.

Apart from Zaheer, no Indian pacer has been successful so far in the tournament so it will be very crucial for Munaf to bowl the way he bowled against Pakistan. Selectors might be also thinking of gambling with S.SreeSanth looking at the wicket and Sri Lanka’s weakness against quality fast bowling. India should look to target SriLanka’s fragile and untested middle order which is their main concern throughout the tournament. The way Indian bowlers bowl against the SriLankan middle order may be very crucial in the context of the match.

It will probably be the battle between the best batting and the best bowling side of the tournament when Indian batsman face off against the quality Sri Lankan bowling line up. It is important for likes of Sachin, Sehwag, Gambhir and Virat to hold the top-order together before stroke players like Yuvraj, Raina and Dhoni can unleash themselves.

It will be also be an absorbing battle between Yuvraj and Murali. Yuvraj is in the form of his life and Murali will be playing his last international game and Yuvraj has been having his share of problems against Murali since last few years. It will be intriguing to see how Yuvraj tackles Murali. Indian batsman especially the lower middle order and tailenders should prepare themselves to face those toe-crushing Malinga Yorkers

Sri Lanka batting depends heavily on their three stalwarts namely TilakRatne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene . Indian bowlers will hope to get these three big guns cheaply. Sri Lanka have drafted in Chaminda Vaas and Suraj Randiv in their squads as the cover for injured Murali and Matthews. Sri Lanka might seriously consider playing Vaas because of his vast experience and a decent record against the Indian team.

Overall a mouth watering contest is on the cards and the team which plays its natural game without taking any pressure of the Big Final might emerge victorious in the End. The stage is set for Sachin Tendulkar to score his 100^th International hundred in front of his home crowd in probably the biggest match of his glorious career. So best wishes to “TEAM INDIA” to fulfill the dreams of One Billion Hearts.
