Not only that, but all of the participants would then post the tips on their blog thereby giving out mass links to eachother’s blogs. Anyway, the result was a fantastic list of traffic tips.

A New York doctor released an ebook recently named "Get Google Ads Free". Blogs and forums were immediately filled with marketers claiming it was all a scam. Of course, this is nothing new. Many marketers blast any new product but then go on to assure you that it really would work if you also bought their program that adds an extra needed ingredient. Sure.

It's all marketing and designed to keep you reading as you get out the old credit card to buy not one but two or three products.

What is new about all of the storm surrounding "Get Google Ads Free" is that a large number of the commentators are serious! They seem to think that the good doctor should at least be banned from the market. And maybe locked away somewhere.

As far as I can tell, the storm around "Get Google Ads Free" centers on several items. Some open to interpretation and some not.

What Does "Free" Mean?
Many people take exception to Doctor Cohen's use of the word "free" in his title and in the ads. They point out that he actually has to pay for his pay-per-click ads and only gets reimbursed if he is able to offset this cost by selling his own ads on his web pages. It seems to me that if all of his costs - and then some - are recovered, he has no out-of-pocket expense and his ads are "free".

Some claim this is misleading. In my mind, this is no more misleading than the internet marketer who adds $197 of bonuses "Free" if you order an item from them. The value of all of the bonuses is always debatable and if they were actually "free" you could get them without buying anything.

Or how about the marketer who sends an email with a link to a special gift that you discover is some rehashed product with a one time discount? Does a discount constitute a gift? Aren't gifts "free"? Is this honest?

Is This For Real?
Some of the critics are saying his testimonials are fake, that he really doesn't make as much money as he states and that his home is only "imaginary". No one attacked his family or his dog - yet - but everything else seems to be fair game.

My take? I bought the book, studied it and found it a good resource. The method Doctor Cohen proposes to recover your ad costs is nothing new. Nothing new in the offline world anyway. I am quite new online but have many years marketing offline and have seen this method and variations used time and time again. The methods are used because they work. It is surprising to me that this has not been utilized more online.

Will This Hinder Or Help?
There is some concern that if you place other peoples' ads on your page that you will lose business. His experience shows that there is no difference in the click through rate after adding other banners to his sites. The concept is so new online that you almost have to take his word for it. I tend to think that the click through rate might actually increase.

Again, look at the offline world. If one fast food restaurant goes in on a corner, several more go in on the opposite corners, or right next door. If a big box store opens it is only a short time until there are many other smaller stores opening around it. The same synergy is probably available online but we have not yet explored its potential.

Another complaint is that Doctor Cohen is advertising a "secret" that isn't a secret at all. I find no validity in this at all. No, it is not something that has been buried for years or kept secret by some exclusive club. But it is a secret in the sense that no one has developed his method online until now.

"Get Google Ads Free" is definitely worth reading several times to absorb everything that it contains. Study it and the methods outlined with an open mind and don't give up the first time you read something that you "know simply wont work". Negative thoughts are truly self-fulfilling.
