The leviathan that is the Summer of Recovery continues it’s rampage against the American economy, creating a swath of destruction similar to a Jenny Craig support group’s effect on an Old Country Buffet. This time, it’s caused the unemployment rate to rise to 9.6%:

Job losses continued to mount in the U.S. economy last month, though at a more modest pace than expected, putting further pressure on policy makers to take action to spur growth and employment.

Ok, let’s stop right there. Someone is going to have to talk to the official spokesmen of the Obama Summer of Recovery Communication Department, aka the main stream media, and tell them to stop using the term “unexpectedly.” Everything bad that happens in this economy is somehow not expected.

Not expected by who? I know I expected these things to happen. Pretty much everyone who opposes the Keynesian economic policies of this administration expected this.

After 18 months of fail, I think it’s time to stop being surprised with more bad news.

Nonfarm payrolls fell by 54,000 last month, matching the level of revised losses recorded the previous month, the U.S. Labor Department said Friday. The revision in July layoffs to 54,000 followed an original estimate of a 131,000 drop in payrolls.

The U.S. economy has shed jobs for three straight months, though the losses in August were about half the 110,000 predicted by economists in a Dow Jones Newswires survey.

The unemployment rate, calculated using a separate household survey, edged up to 9.6%, as expected, after holding at 9.5% for previous two months.

The Stimulus Plan was promised to keep unemployment under 8%. Without it, it was suggested the unemployment rate may jump as high as 8.5% in 2009 and peak at 9% in 2010.

And now Christina Romer is channeling Joe Biden as she leaves the White House, saying they didn’t really understand what was going on:

An estimate of what the economy will look like if a policy is adopted contains two components: a forecast of what would happen in the absence of the policy, and an estimate of the effect of the policy… we, like virtually every other forecaster, failed to anticipate how violent the recession would be in the absence of policy, and the degree to which the usual relationship between GDP and unemployment would break down.

So what is the anticipated response from the rabid socialists in the halls of Congress and the White House?

More spending.

Brilliant.

The suit, accuses Arpaio of “unprecedented” defiance of federal authorities examining reports of unconstitutional search and seizures and discriminatory practices against Hispanics, including English-only policies in the jails and detention centers under his control.

Throughout the process, Arpaio’s office has said the staff are cooperating with investigators. They deny having committed any racial profiling of other discriminatory practices.

Arpaio, is an influential figure in the Phoenix area, a controversial law-and-order politician who boasts that he is “America’s toughest sheriff” for his Draconian treatment of inmates. He was a top proponent of the state’s controversial immigration law which would have demanded that law enforcement check the immigration status of anyone they stop or detain.

Yep, this ought to fix the problem. It’s not that drug smugglers control parts of Arizona, or that people are being kidnapped and dragged across the border to Mexico.

It’s Sheriff Joe. He’s actually looking for people that are in the country illegally.

That can’t stand.

Considering the mid term elections are still two months away and there are already “Hillary for President” ads airing on television, I’m starting to lean towards definitely:

“She has more experience working in and with the White House than most living presidents. She is one of the most admired women in our nation’s history. Let’s make sure the president we should have elected in 2008 will be on the ballot in 2012. Hillary 2012: Hillary Clinton for President. Start now. Where there’s a Hill there’s a way,” says an ad that began running on television in New Orleans Wednesday.

The commercial was paid for by a Chicago dentist named William DeJean.

When asked why he put the ad up, DeJean told CNN Thursday that “I’m a dentist and I don’t think this country is headed in the right direction.”

Regarding Clinton, DeJean says “I think she is the most qualified.”

DeJean adds that he thinks people are having buyer’s remorse about President Barack Obama and says the current administration is ruining the Democratic Party.

Clearly, DeJean is a racist.

Thought I’d be the first to welcome him into the club.

Someone there noticed something nefarious with the marketing efforts of one Chuck E Cheese. They might be targeting *GASP* children!

No, really:

The eagle-eyed regulators at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have a sneaking suspicion that a company offering disgusting pizza, animatronic human-sized mice, and a ball pit may be trying to appeal to children. Or rather, their marketing (the slogan was “Chuck E. Cheese: Where a Kid Can Be a Kid!” last time I checked) may inappropriately appeal to children.

Thank God for the federal government. Without them, what would we do?

Think of the children!

Mr. DiResta, a former director of the FTC’s Southeast Regional Office, did say that marketing food products to children very much remains on the FTC’s radar.

“The FTC sees marketing to children as a high priority,” he said. “They see children as a vulnerable group that warrants special protection, just as they did the elderly.

Seriously, we need this effort. We wouldn’t want to rely on parents. That’s crazy talk.

And I’m glad they are looking out for old folks too. I have a few tips for them.

I’m fairly sure these folks are targeting the elderly, or the deaf. Either way, it’s disgusting:

Thank goodness the FTC brought the behavior of Chuck E Cheese to our attention. Your tax dollars at work.

In the same video there is audio of Huerta indoctrinating children, teaching them to chant “We didn’t cross the border. The border crossed us.” She also tells students flat out, “Republicans hate Latinos.”

She says it twice for effect.

This is the type of person the Obama Administration looks to for spreading his message. The Democratic Socialists of America’s Honorary Chairperson, Dolores Huerta.

But we can’t say the President is a socialist.

There are now 15 of these signs in Arizona, and only 30 National Guardsmen.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, who, along with Sens. John McCain and Jon Kyl, asked for 3,000 guardsmen, is not impressed or pleased:

“I think the American people are outraged that we can fight wars half-way around the world, send our nation’s treasury and our most precious resources – our American heroes that serve in the military — and yet here in our own country somehow they believe it’s okay for us not to have a secure border,” Said Sheriff Babeu.

“And that it’s okay to put up signs in my county and parts of America to surrender parts of our country to foreign born criminals,” Babeu added, “warning our own American citizens to stay out.”

The governor is still begging Washington to do something, because some 6x6s and a little plywood isn’t enough:

It is a sad fact that the pleas for help in securing the southern border are simply going to fall on deaf ears. After all, if action is taken, it could push Hispanic voters away from the Democrat Party. And staying in power is more important than protecting America.

Yeah, so am I, but I’m not going to strap a bomb to my chest and take hostages.
