Malayalam online internet radio player

Since long time I am listening to malayalam radio stations online, mainly because I am not living in Kerala now and this is the only and convenient wat to listen. Previously only few stations like RadioDumDum, RadioJoyAlukkas etc were there. But now the list of malayalm online radio stations has increased from a few to more than a dozen.

This has also made it difficult for me to keep track of all the stations, mostly online radio stations comes with their own softwares. In my previous post on Malayalam internet Radio I have mentiond the direct links to some of the stations. In this post I have listed the internet stations which you can select and the embeded player will start playing the corresponding station.

You can select the station to be played from the list given below.
NOTE:- Some stations will be offline. So even if you select a station, it will not be played if it is offline. Also the internet connection speed should be good enough to continously stream the stations.

2. Blogger Post Content Optimization

There is a difference between a writer and blogger. 3. Post Title Optimization

Now here comes the King of all your content. Post titles are the backbone of your entire blog traffic. Post title is the first thing a robot crawls and it is the first thing that appears on Search results page followed by post url and then a snippet from the post. 4. Image Optimization

After the introduction of image search technology, traffic through images can simply not be avoided. Every image on your post is a source for quality traffic if you tag them properly. With tags, images have no value because robots can not read graphics unless you tell it what the image is all about by adding its description inside alt text attribute.

5. Meta Description and Keyword

As the video below suggests meta keywords are not that important for Google at least but you must write a good meta description for your homepage.

6. Internal Linking

Linking one post with another helps robots to better dive deep into your content and index every single post and build a relationship among them. Always link related posts with one another just the way I normally do by pointing readers to previously published tutorials that are related to my current post.

7. Nofollow Do's and Donts

8. Directory Submission

You might have seen several badges on every new blogs. Directories today are out-dated and there is no sense in expecting traffic from them. One of my blogging article of faith is posting daily and posting several times per day if you can afford. Correct SEO Concepts & Techniques

This is a popular and correct way of adding a tag attribute to all categories in your blog. This tag is normally used by default by Google Blogger developers in label links. It tells robots that the link is URL/address of a particular category in the blog. This helps robots to identify between normal web page links in your blog with those in categories.
In blogger a normal links looks like this:

http://www.bloggercodes.com/2012/02/hostgator-best-hosting-plans-for.html

Note: The above link belongs to the label Make Money Online

Your blog URL is followed by trailing slash then date and then keywords from post title where each keyword is separated by a hyphen (-).

And the label link or category link or archive link that is a URL address for all your posts coming under the same category/Label. In our case the above shared link comes in the category Make Money Online. The label link would look like:

http://www.bloggercodes.com/search/label/AdSense

Here as you can see the primary domain link (homepage link) is followed by keyword search and then label and then finally by label title where each keyword in label title is separated by a percentage (%) symbol.
Now your post can be accessed either using the normal link or the label link. Since both these URLS contain same content so it can create troubles for robots to identify which one is the true resource and which one is just a reference link back to the original post. The TAG is the attribute that is added to Label links and this tag attribute tells search robots that the link bring crawled is a label link. If this tag is not present then search engines can penalize your blog for sharing same content on two different urls thus your blog could get penalize for sharing duplicate content. However search robots have become so much efficient that now they can clearly identify if the link is a normal one or a label one. We are just making its job more easy by adding this tag.
rel="archives"
Just like rel="tag" attribute this one helps robots to differentiate between archive links and other link in your blog. An archive link lists all your posts date wise. It assembles the posts by year and month.

rel="category tag" (For wordpress users only)
This is a so called correct way of adding an attribute to tags and categories in Wordpress blogs. Not relevant to us. Though this tag is never succeeded in passing HTML5 validation by W3C but I am still seeing it in many famous wordpress frameworks like genesis and thesis. The reason why it never gets validated is because w3c does not accept spaces between keywords inside a rel attribute (with exception for rel="external nofollow"). Since there is a white space between category and tag therefore it will never get validated unless or until you remove the space or replace it with a hyphen. There are several php scripts that will help you get rid of this tag in yoru wordpress blogs. Just search for "remove rel="category tag" in wordpress"

Wrong SEO Concepts & Techniques

I had been personally a victim of these false and wrong seo concepts and during my early blogging stage due to lack of SEO knowledge I kept on forwarding the wrong concepts even to my readers and I do whole heartedly apologize for it. All those posts are now pointing readers to this latest and correct SEO techniques.
Following are some link attributes that can be found on popular blogger blogs but none of them is approved by Search engines or World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Wrong:

rel="follow"
rel="index"
rel="index, follow"
rel="noindex, follow"
rel="index, nofollow"
rel="noindex, nofollow"
rel="index, tag"
There is no complementary word for nofollow. Follow is not a SEO term and should never be used. To let robots follow a link just remove the nofollow attribute from it. Simple!
Nofollow tells robots not to pay importance to the link, don't follow it and do not pass your hard earned PageRank juice to it. While noindex tells robots that the content on a particular page should not be crawled and that page must not appear in search results. Noindex is a meta tag attribute and it can never be added to links. It is silly to add noindex to links using a rel attribute. It can be mentioned only in meta tags using the content attribute. Robots indexes pages only. The correct term for links is crawl. Robots indexes a page and crawls links.

I am sure I was a bit too technical with this part of the series but all this information was important in order to remove a lot of wrong concepts spreading rapidly in blogosphere and blogger forums. Now lets turn all links inside your free BlogSpot blog templates into clean, optimized and search engine friendly hyperlinks.
To Optimize comment links in blogger do this:

Go To Blogger > Design > Edit HTML
Backup your template
Search for the following code (Search for a similar code).:

Note: If you found a rel="nofollow" in the above code inside your blog template then simply replace it with the one described below.
add rel='external nofollow' anywhere after the a tag. Like this:

rel='external nofollow' expr:href='data:post.createLinkUrl'

4. Now search for this:

5. Replace it with this:

<a expr:href='data:comment.authorUrl' rel='external nofollow'

6. Done!
To Optimize Label links in blogger do this:

To Optimize Archive links in blogger do this:
Note the archive links will only appear on your blog if you add the archive widget. If you have not added the archive post widget to your blog then you can skip this part.

3. Finally save your template and you are all saved! :)

I have had a few requests for a tutorial on adding text re size buttons to posts on Blogger.Back in 2009 i published a gadget that allowed visitors to change all the text size and fonts on your blog including headings, sidebar text and post text.But this time i wanted a gadget that onlu changed the text in the posts.I checked out a number of scripts and styles before settling on the one i have for you today.Using some simple jQuery and some colorful icons in a table we can create a stylish text resize section and float them on the corner of posts.The gadget has three buttons to increase text size, decrease text size and a reset button along with the standard text resize icon.

To me it was a new concept and I felt interested in finding out its details. Would you like to read what I have found? To begin we need to know the proper terminologies. Stock photography is the term referring to the photographs or images that can be licensed for specific use. And micro stock photography means you can buy high quality and high resolution images at specified prices.

Why Micro Stock Photography?

You must be curious to find out why we need such type of business? Actually this is popular among designers, advertisers, marketing professionals etc. for the use of images in their websites, advertisements, brochures and magazines etc. Instead of hiring a professional photographer who may be much expensive and can cost them in terms of time as well, they prefer to select images or photographs already available, make payment and own it.

How to make good Stock?

Of course you need to have stock of your digital photographs which you are willing to sell. As every other industry, it has also got competition and you can’t sell each and every image of yours. There are some very basic points that can help you gather a good stock; and can pay your hard work.

1-Good quality:

Your photographs must be clean, sharp, and free of digital noise, high quality images with correct exposures. A recommended practice is to shoot your images in RAW format.

2-Commercial photographs:

‘Snapshots’ which are usually your family photographs or still images are not a suitable choice. You must check what is most demanded, if you want to earn a reasonable amount. If you are persistent to capture landscapes and tourist type photographs, that’s fine too; they will pay you less. Photographs or images that can be used in brochures, flyers or advertisements can add up to your stock. For example, if you take a still image of your school going child, it would be rejected. But, if you show him in uniform, hanging his school bag with a brighter smile on his face; this photo can easily be selected by any milk or butter advertisement.

3-No trademarks:

There should be no trademarks and no logos of the company, to whom you are selling photos. Also, if you have an image in which a person is wearing a shirt with its brand name; it may be rejected.

4-Signed Model release:

Each agency has its own standard model releases. Don’t forget to ask for it. It is a form that you fill in and send along with each image containing identifiable person.

There are many micro stock agencies; you should start from the basic step. Your ultimate target should be doing business with the leading company; but postpone this idea until you get some experience and understand the tactics of photographic market. Well, every series can not be a perfect content for e-book. . For example, you can see we have two series completed. This is so sad for me that I can not make e book of my own series "PDF editing ways". Because it consists of tutorials and it does not cover that topic completely. Why do we need to make an e-book? This question is very well answered in the respective e-book but here I want to share why I preferred working on this idea. This is because I personally do not like going link by link to the next part or keep myself waiting for downloading different episodes .I always look for any download available so that I can have a look at it at my leisure. You may think I am an easy going person, but it works magic when you pass on this comfort to others. It is also easier to pass on e-books.

Renovate Series into E-book:

You can not simply copy-paste all content of your posts into one document, save it as pdf and feel proud you have touched the sky. It is time to make you understand the difference between both of them and trim your series accordingly. I will share with you step-by- step what I have followed in doing so.

Random Review:

The very first thing I did is I copy pasted all content into one word document. Then I gave it a random review and deleted all the introductions which were specific to posts and which explain pre-requisites. All the greetings at the ends are also to be eliminated. This is your raw content now.

Edit Carefully:

What do I mean by editing it? Because the post that got published once, was obviously carefully edited. Here comes the second difference; your audience is different now. You may have been casual in your posts because we build a strong relationship with our readers and speak frankly to them. But when you speak to the world outside you need to be a bit formal. So, go through your content again and perform spelling and grammar check. You may need to rephrase some of your sentences accordingly.

Blog Specific Details:

Your content is quite refined now. You are supposed to check if you have given any examples specific to your blog. As in our series, Hassam gave example of BC headings’ font. Such details are to be replaced with some general examples; since you will be distributing your e-book to people widely, who may not be readers of your blog. You can share your success secrets but saying any such thing “In our previous series, we talked about it”, is not a good choice.

Additional Content:

Check your work now. You may need to add some content into it. You should add an index (table of contents), insert bookmarks and design a cover page for it. You are also supposed to add credits and give a preface, as per your choice. Another important point is the selection of images…I have changed some images in this transformation (I hope Hassam don’t mind that); so give them a look too. I do not like watermarks; they irritate me so I prefer using headers or footers to display the blog name. You may have a choice of yours.

Finalize:

Well this is the most obvious point. You add some spice to your work by re-working its presentation. You may need to adjust the font size and color, foreground color, background texture, headings and paragraph indentation etc. Your product is ready to be in the market now!
Tools:

We feel it is important to share the tools we have used for editing e-book. We have used Microsoft Word for basic editing. Cover page can be included using MS Word or using My e-Cover Maker . PDF document is edited using InFix PDF Editor in its ‘professional mode’.

I recently published Make an eBook: Creating PDF and 3D Cover where we saw the ways by which we could bring our beloved eBook to the real world in the PDF format and giving it a physical look through a 3D ebook cover.

Making out a 3D cover image of our eBook can really shoot up its downloads as many people feel like getting something of the real world. Image is better than thousand words, remember? There was no use mentioned in the previous post regarding our 3D image that we made as that is the part of our today's post. This being the final post in the series of eBook creation, ill try to wrap up the subject, making it a final call of motion.

So now we have written our eBook well, keeping formatting and other decorative issues in mind, exported it as a PDF with desired settings and finally built its 3D cover. Now what? Its time to make up an email delivery system, where by we would see the process creating an opt in form (for email download) on our sidebar, that would help users to download the eBook once they have provided their email address.

You wont have to bother about sending the eBook to every individual.

Creating An Online eBook Form / Customization

Ok so here we'll be taking help from an auto responder service. The best ones out there (used by top probloggers) are aWeber or iContact. They have there own pros and cons but we'll not be getting into that one for now.

For the sake of this post, ill be giving out examples of aWeber auto responder service but generally its the same procedure for iContact too.

Once you get an account at aWeber, you would see your dashboard as shown below. Notice the 5 buttons on the top (blue buttons). Though i am not considering that you have the account for now, but the post would give out a general idea of how things work and how you would be following it in the future (if you opt in for an auto responder service)

In the button for Webforms, you get to see many great email opt in forms. You wont be needing any coding capabilities while using the service as the forms are drag and drop enabled. So that's how you would get your email opt in form. Though you can get any third party email opt in form and later link it to aWeber auto responder.

There would be an option for 'Follow up' messages that you can set for the email delivery system. What this basically do is that you can set a list of follow up messages with time intervals of your choice. To summarize, follow up messages are those emails that the subscriber would get (after the set interval) after the opt in. So in our case, we would set the follow up messages as our download page with 0 time interval. Got the point?

Finally, you would get your HTML code for your opt in form that you can add to your blog through Edit HTML/JavaScript gadget on Blogger blogs.

Building an eBook Download Page

This would be the page that the subscriber would be taken to once he subscribes through the opt in form. The download page wont be indexed on Google (as you don't want people to find the eBook Download page through Google before they subscribe ;)

So for Blogger users, you can simply make out a new post naming it 'eBook download page' (or any thing that you like). WordPress users can make out a new page. This page can also be referred as Thanks page as you would appreciate the subscriber's move to subscribe. Give out a link to your eBook download.

For that, upload your eBook somewhere online. You may use a free service Free-eBooks . Get the download link and mention that in the Thanks (download) page that you have created. So now you have your own download page, you need to make sure that it isn't listed on Google search result so that people would not access that Download page directly. You need to get them through that email opt in channel.

Remove a Page from Google Search Results?

Add the following code to your 'page' Edit HTML option. (not your blog's!). This way, that particular download page wont be indexed by search engines.

Making an Auto Responder Email Delivery Tunnel

Now that you have your download page ready, simply add the download page link in the auto responder email that you would send to the subscriber once he gives his email address in the opt in form on your sidebar. This responding email would be set up in your aWeber follow up messages option as mentioned before.

The subscriber would get that email thanking him to subscribe. The download page link would then take him to the eBook download page where he would get the PDF form.

Thats it! This is basically the entire idea of the auto responder email delivery system that you can create with the help of any autoresponder service online. Again the best ones out there are aWeber or iContact. Many use Mail Chimp too but they have hell lot of complains too.

PDF is the most famous sharing format for eBooks which is widely accepted on Macs and PCs. Many of us use PDF readers and are pretty comfortable with it. So its always a good idea to be in flow with the masses. So looking forward to that, we would see how exactly we should export our eBook that would rock the market. :)

Why PDF And Not Any Other Format?

As i mentioned before, PDF format is universally recognized by PCs and Macs and thus its a wise move to get something out that would be usefully to the wide community. Plus, PDF is more consistent and gives much better result in terms of formatting.

An eBook in .DOC file (Microsoft Document file) would give formatting issues when moved from place to place. Sending it through email might disturb the picture settings etc. With PDF, once its exported, its kinda final and thats what every body would see when the get it.

eBook PDF Export Settings

One should really concentrate on the settings that he sets for his eBook. Exporting is one of the most important factor that we have to consider while we work out our eBook. The default zoom levels are to be considered wisely.

Again there no set rule for the default settings. Normally 100-120% works for many people. View it to test out your final product. For settings Go to File >> Export As PDF and it would take you to the settings options. Choosing the right zoom levels would make sure that your final product (images) isn't blurry.

eBook Free 3D Cover Creator

There are so many 3D eBook cover creators online but the draw back is that most of them are premium services. There is a great solution that i have found as an eBook 3D Cover generator and the great part of the story is that they are free.

Though i would recommend making out a great one for yourself (in case you aim to sell your eBook) as there are some limitations to these tools. There are limited number of templates that you could choose from. But for giving out free, they are worth using.

It would save a lot of your time as your 3D cover can be few clicks away. Myecovermaker is my choice. The cover on right is what i made for the sample purpose. Its worth using (when we know that its free). You could upload your own images too.

So finally export your PDF eBook and make sure its not a huge file. Working around 1MB is good enough. Once your PDF file and 3D cover is ready, its time to get to the publishing side. We'll look into that tomorrow.

Okeh guys so i am back with the eBook series. I didn't wanted to over do it for you guys as its gets boring to read about the same thing over and over again. Right? So lets continue from where we left previously. What program is best suited for an eBook writing?

Its simple. Use Microsoft Word (that is free) for writing content for you eBook. The latest version have many useful tools that you could use for formatting your content. Its widely used for this purpose today due to its ability to convert .doc files directly to PDF files, that we want our eBook to be in.

Write out your basic backbone content first. No need to add pictures and stuff. Just build text content. Once that done, you could decorate it with relevant pictures. As what i do with the blog post. I work out the post content, and then finally make it wear some nice clothes.

How should you start?

This is often the biggest hindrance one could face while writing any content. But i believe its very easy when you know something to write upon. If you have to summarize your last Christmas or your birthday, you wont take minute to start writing what you experienced.

That is that your mind should be a head of your fingers typing. Say if you need to build an overview, you could surely start with it. Its often a good practice by first making out the table of contents (though you could workout minor changes later if needed) which would direct you towards your end goal with the eBook.

Don't make it formal. Use simple language and present the content like you're talking to your buddy. I take this post as a conversation between you and me. It then gets easy to then put things together.

Content characteristics?

It would be a good move to use more than one type of headers. Notice that we use two types of headers here at MBT. The one in blue with dotted line or a normal bold heading (black one). It better helps in withdrawing the attention of the reader and helps out separate the sub parts of the content too.

Use more and more bullet points, numeric numbering etc. Make sure each paragraph is not more than 4-5 lines. It helps to hover over the content easily. Also convey your message in a mixture of long and short sentences. It really works. (see what i did there?)

Give it a proper clothing

Clothing is must, right? Find out some cool relevant pictures for the content. Try to assign a picture for every heading you got there. It really makes the content lively. Its one of those forces that makes reader continue reading.

Most Important?

Make sure that you give out a keynote at the end. Summarize the entire content at the end of the eBook and tell readers what they got from the post. Like from today's post, you got an idea of what program we could use for an eBook writing, how to better format our content, clothing etc.

The reader should not be confused at the end. Thats the purpose. Make him know what he had to get from the eBook. Otherwise tell him that he's a dumb (not really!)

Use of Font?

12-13 is really recommend from many successful eBook publishers. Don't use fancy fonts. Please. And always use black color for the content. To summarize, let it be universal and not just create a new theme that would not be appreciated at all. Though as i mentioned before, you could use 2 different decent colors for headings.

Choosing the Title

The title technique goes just like our normal blog post technique. Titles having figures, personnel touch, high profile keywords works the best. As an example, notice my recent post:

The is heading attractive to the eyes. As the post was on the hot topic, plus the 6 point figure made it more compelling to read. Recently i read an eBook by blogtyrant which also had a compelling heading, that goes like: "

Capture 120% More Email Subscribers Overnight"

So the point is that simple. Always decide the title of an eBook before hand. Before making the content. That would allow you to stick to the main theme of the eBook. People often like to read lists, as they save time and convey the entire content in a nutshell.

They would always like to have points in mind regarding any particular topic, instead of reading a whole bunch of content that would confuse them at the end.

Enjoy what you write = Killer Content

Creating killer content could be extremely easy and a fun job, but..only when our mind is a head of our typing speed. Generic content formation rules apply to eBooks too. As with eBook, you aim to provide some information, in your own style that you know about.

You cant write 100 words on something that you don't know much about. So first of all, make sure that are you knowledgeable enough, on the topic that you aim to write on. Some times, having knowledge is not enough. Enjoying what you write is another plus for creating killer content.

You might want to continue with the same topic of eBook, and publish new parts in the future. So having interest in what ever you do is the key. Plus adding colorful relevant pictures, bullet points, facts and figures, wise paragraphing results in a generation of quality content.

Adding a personnel touch = Authority

This part of the content would determine the amount of success that your eBook would grab. Even though you might be having knowledge that you would write about, its extremely important to have some personally opinion/experience to it.

Imagine you yourself have never even touched 100k Alexa mark and plan to build an eBook something like, 10 Golden Rules To Achieve <5k Alexa rank. Even though the idea seems cool and many people would like to know the magic points, the first thing they would do is to proceed by checking your rank.

As a result, it would add no authority to the topic. Only if you knew the golden rules, you could have achieved that yourself. And authority and expert stature is what you want to achieve with your eBook. There are tons of them already floating out there online, so there's should be something unique about the content.

So that now we got an overview of how we should plan our eBook's Content, tomorrow we would see how we could bring it to practical grounds. What programs we can use to start building content, formatting techniques, aesthetics and stuff.

There are couple of ways through which you can research and get to know your targeted market in a fairly fast way. If you are blogging from quite a while, then you might not be needing this part of research, as you would already be familiar with the kind of audience that you have earned over the years.

What should you research about?

Well this is pretty much practical to ask. For making a great eBook, you have to make it sure that your hard work doesn't go in vain. Your content in the eBook might be best out their, but that might just not what your readers want.

So providing the right information at time could result in a life saver. You would often get comments like:

" Thank you so much. Thats exactly what i wanted. You're a life saver"

Pretty encouraging right? Thats the status we want to achieve with our eBook. So by knowing the age group, level of literacy, gender, location etc we could better target our market.

How could this data influence our eBook content?

By knowing the level of literacy of your audience, you could choose the vocabulary that you would pour into your eBook. Using simple language works the best, by the way. Knowing the gender of your audience, makes you better equipped while adjusting those little jokes around.

Say you get most of you traffic from US. You could mention the country in your eBook in some regards, that would drive a personnel touch to the eBook. So thats how different set of data could help your make a better eBook, that earns a better demand in the market.

So how to collect this all useful data?

This is the actual core of today's post. Well there are couple of great tools out their. I would recommend Google Analytics. Get to know the keywords that draws you most of the traffic at your blog. This would help you know that why people search you online. Say you get most of the traffic from a keyword 'How to wash your dog'.

Now, in the eBook that you would make on dogs, you should concentrate more over dog washing techniques and not on dog food. Thats just a rough idea.

The demographics can also be studied through Google Analytics. There are other great tools for the purpose like, Market Samurai or Keyword Elite 2.0 but they are not free. Market Samurai costs 90$, but has build up a reputation over the time.

Conclusion

Once you gather all of this useful information, you could start Building your first ever eBook. The information would help you set the name of your eBook and the use of keywords in the content, that i would talk about in the next post in the series.

Tips And Guidelines For Accepting And Publishing Guest Posts On Your Blog

Guest Blogging has become hugely popular over the last few years.It is also hugely beneficial for both the guest submitting the post and the blogger publishing the post.The main benefit for the guest blogger lies in their work being shown to a new and often larger audience and of course those ever so valuablebacklinks in the author bio section at the foot of their post.Indeed many articles have been written on the benefit of becoming a guest author and strategies in writing and submitting guest posts.

But what about the other side of the coin, the blogger looking to publish guest posts.Here i want to look at my personal experience as a blogger going from wondering if the link to submit guest posts on my blog was working to receiving up to 50 posts and enquires weekly.While it's fantastic having such an interest from bloggers all over the world in contributing, not all submissions have your blogs best interests in mind.I have probably only actually published between ten or twenty percent of posts submitted.

As the number of guest post submissions increased i realised i needed a system to deal them.I also realised i needed a strict policy and set of rules.

First i have 4 basic Guest Post rules.

1. Post must be on topic with your blog - On my blog that covers blogging tips and tutorials i have received posts on topics as far afield as Picking a cellphone to buying a used car.While you may think its easier to just ignore emails with such posts you may end up wasting time opening follow up emails, i reply with simply "No Thanks post is totally off topic".In one case a blogger has accidentally sent me the wrong post and the post that was written for my blog was subsequently published so do reply.

2. Post must have no links in the body - The accepted rule in guest posts is two Do-Follow links for the author in the foot of the post.However i have received countless posts stuffed with links to the authors sites.Of course there are exceptions, some posts use references that will require a link.In such cases links advance the post and are not an author looking to benefit.Recently i have been contacted by writers for SEO company's that submit

3. Quality - I know when i started to receive guest posts it was exciting in the same way as the first few comments you receive as a new blogger.This can lead you to perhaps letting your standards drop in an effort to publish those first few guest posts.However i feel you need to be strict when it comes to quality right from the start.If I'm unsure of a post i will delay replying and take a second look the following day, i find on a second read i usually know if it's up to scratch or not.

4. Exclusive - Every guest post much be original and not published anywhere else.Posts should be written for your blog and your audience.One post sticks in my mind when it comes to this.I read a post submitted for my blog and was extremely impressed but i had a feeling i had seen it before.I copied a few of the main phrases from the post and popped them into Google and sure enough when i searched i found the post published previously numerous times.

In Search Of Backlinks

One of the trends i have seen recently is SEO company's hiring writers to submit guest posts to blogs.Webmasters and Bloggers hire SEO company's to help their sites performance on search engines.One of the best ways for an SEO to do this is by building backlinks to their clients site.We all know building backlinks is not easy, even for experienced SEO's.With this in mind SEO's have taken advantage of the Guest Post.Writers create and submit posts with the sole purpose of linking to the clients website.

I guess this would not necessarily be a bad thing if the posts were quality and did not break any of the 4 rules above.But i have found these posts are written with the sole purpose of building links, not providing information to my readers.The posts are often off topic, stuffed with keywords connected to the site they link to and contain links in the main content.Indeed many posts submitted by these writers will have an external link in the first paragraph and no author bio, a real indication of the posts purpose.

Don't Be Afraid To Edit

Once you have received a post you are happy to publish it does not need to be a direct copy and paste, remember you have the final say on how it's published.Don't be afraid to make changes to the title or content if you think it will improve the finished article.

Saving Time

As mentioned i receive many Emails from potential guest writers.Replying to each individually can become very time consuming.With that in mind i have a collection of messages ready to copy and paste into my reply.Then all i have to do is add the name of the recipient and extra info if needed.

These include :

A reply message to original enquires.
A reply message accepting a guest post.
A reply message declining a guest post.

Create Blogger Backup For Images And Get Image URLs

Many bloggers including some professional ones suggest to store Blogger images on services likewww.Photobucket.com , www.tinypic.com etc. but I really don’t understand why would someone do that when one has unlimited Image storage and bandwidth inside Picasa web albums that is where Blogger saves all your images. Well its time to change the way people use Blogger and we are here to let you help make better use of resources available to you.

Today I will share a different way of managing all your images in blogger by letting you know how to create a Backup for all your images and we will also learn how to get Unique URLs for images. This tutorial will also help you in reducing your blog load time by 40% i.e 150-200kb

To create an Image Backup you will need to do the following,

Go To Blogger
Create a draft Post and name it Backup For Images
Now start uploading all your images to blogger using the normal method. These images can be images that you have saved elsewhere and have link to it in your blogger template. For example: Background Image, Sidebar Headers, Icons, Header Background etc. If you scan your template you will find many image URLs inside the CSS part that starts from <b:skin> and ends at </b:skin>. An image URL/link can end as .gif | .png | .jpeg | .bmp etc. Open each URL/link in your browser and save the image in your Hard Drive by right clicking on it and then choosing “Save Image As”
Once you have uploaded all your images, your backup will look like that of mine,

Now Comes the interesting part. In order to get Image URLs and use them somewhere inside your blog template or sidebar widgets, you will need to do the following,
- Make sure you are using Firefox Browser
- Click the Preview Link at the top-right corner of your Backup post
- Once the images are displayed below the draft post, simply right click on your desired image and then choose “Copy Image Location”
- Now paste this Image URL inside your Browser Address bar,

Your Image URL will look something like the one below,

The important part in this link is s400 . If you want the image to appear in full size then change s400 to s1600 . The image will appear in its original size.

Now this is how I store all my images and get their unique URLs. This way you will never loose images. By adding such image URLs to your blogger templates, you will observe a significant decrease in the load time of your blog.

I would create such buttons using Photoshop but amazingly thanks to dynamic drive you can now create a button online easily. The button maker tool provides you with multiple options of making a good looking button or badge for your blogger blogs or wordpress blogs. You can choose border style, background colors, font type and text. This tool is extremely easy to use and no expert tech skills are required to design a button. However I will be sharing some tips which could be helpful for most of you.

How to Design a good looking Button?

The tool lets you create "XHTML valid" micro buttons (80x15). We also use the larger sized 88x31 button instead. Follow these tips:

Check Base Color is Transparent
Uncheck "Border Color is Transparent"
Choose "Button Size" as 80 by 15 pixels
Keep "Border color" equal to #dddddd
To change a color, simply click on a particular box(where color code is mentioned) and then drag your mouse over the Color Picker tool to choose your preferred color.
Keep clicking the "update" button to see live previews
Now right a small abbreviation for you blog e.g: BC (LEFT SIDE TEXT)
And right your main keyword on the RIGHT SIDE TEXT e.g: Widgets
If your left side text didn't fit in a column perfectly then increase the "Vertical Bar Position"
When you are satisfied click the update button and then right click the image to save it.
Finally Upload the image on blogger.

How Can SOPA and PIPA Effect Bloggers?

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA) which aimed at demolishing the online freedom and spread of speech has fortunately been postponed on January 20, 2012 after US Government saw the biggest internet protest of the time. The protests were the biggest in Internet history, with over 115 thousand sites altering their webpages with black protest banners! With Wikipedia and reddit being the heavy protestors. As soon as FBI shutdown the largest free resource sharing website "MegaUpload" , tons of attacks were launched by Anonymous just after 70 minutes on government websites such as Justice Department, the FBI, Universal Music Group, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), and Broadcast Music, Inc.

What is SOPA and PIPA?

These are two bills which were proposed in the US parliament as an open attack on sites that promote copyright infringement of content and goods. The biggest sponsor of the bills was HOLLYWOOD which includes the film and music industry. Though this may sound just ok but if this would have been passed than thousands of web owners which include us have been destroyed completely with a complete shutdown of their servers and online existence. From Wikipedia till Google, every single web service would have been attacked and abused. Internet service providers would have been forced to block websites that promote piracy and search engines like Google would have been pressurized to stop indexing such sites and stop sending them traffic. How Can it be a Poison to Bloggers?

Bloggers are content generators. Publishing unique content without copyright violation is termed as "True Blogging". However its really difficult to produce everything by your own due to lack of resources. In order to engage readers more bloggers often rely on sharing resources provided by third party websites. Most new bloggers due to lack of experience often violate copyrights.

For instance all those blogs where resources are availed for free downloads violate copyrights of third party producers. Biggest Copyright Violator is Hollywood itself!

This is an extract of the press release published by Piratebay. Piratebay seriously accused HOLLYWOOD for giving birth to Copyright violation culture. I found this through reddit:

Over a century ago Thomas Edison got the patent for a device which would "do for the eye what the phonograph does for the ear". He called it the Kinetoscope. He was not only amongst the first to record video, he was also the first person to own the copyright to a motion picture.
Because of Edisons patents for the motion pictures it was close to financially impossible to create motion pictures in the North american east coast. The movie studios therefor relocated to California, and founded what we today call Hollywood. The reason was mostly because there was no patent. There was also no copyright to speak of, so the studios could copy old stories and make movies out of them - like Fantasia, one of Disneys biggest hits ever.
So, the whole basis of this industry, that today is screaming about losing control over immaterial rights, is that they circumvented immaterial rights. They copied (or put in their terminology: "stole") other peoples creative works, without paying for it. They did it in order to make a huge profit. Today, they're all successful and most of the studios are on the Fortune 500 list of the richest companies in the world. Congratulations - it's all based on being able to re-use other peoples creative works. And today they hold the rights to what other people create. If you want to get something released, you have to abide to their rules. The ones they created after circumventing other peoples rules.
The reason they are always complainting about "pirates" today is simple. We've done what they did. We circumvented the rules they created and created our own. We crushed their monopoly by giving people something more efficient. We allow people to have direct communication between eachother, circumventing the profitable middle man, that in some cases take over 107% of the profits (yes, you pay to work for them). It's all based on the fact that we're competition. We've proven that their existance in their current form is no longer needed. We're just better than they are.
And the funny part is that our rules are very similar to the founding ideas of the USA. We fight for freedom of speech. We see all people as equal. We believe that the public, not the elite, should rule the nation. We believe that laws should be created to serve the public, not the rich corporations.
The Pirate Bay is truly an international community. The team is spread all over the globe - but we've stayed out of the USA. We have Swedish roots and a swedish friend said this: The word SOPA means "trash" in Swedish. The word PIPA means "a pipe" in Swedish. This is of course not a coincidence. They want to make the internet inte a one way pipe, with them at the top, shoving trash through the pipe down to the rest of us obedient consumers. The public opinion on this matter is clear. Ask anyone on the street and you'll learn that noone wants to be fed with trash. Why the US government want the american people to be fed with trash is beyond our imagination but we hope that you will stop them, before we all drown.
SOPA can't do anything to stop TPB. Worst case we'll change top level domain from our current .org to one of the hundreds of other names that we already also use. In countries where TPB is blocked, China and Saudi Arabia springs to mind, they block hundreds of our domain names. And did it work? Not really. To fix the "problem of piracy" one should go to the source of the problem. The entertainment industry say they're creating "culture" but what they really do is stuff like selling overpriced plushy dolls and making 11 year old girls become anorexic. Either from working in the factories that creates the dolls for basically no salary or by watching movies and tv shows that make them think that they're fat.
In the great Sid Meiers computer game Civilization you can build Wonders of the world. One of the most powerful ones is Hollywood. With that you control all culture and media in the world. Rupert Murdoch was happy with MySpace and had no problems with their own piracy until it failed. Now he's complainting that Google is the biggest source of piracy in the world - because he's jealous. He wants to retain his mind control over people and clearly you'd get a more honest view of things on Wikipedia and Google than on Fox News.
Some facts (years, dates) are probably wrong in this press release. The reason is that we can't access this information when Wikipedia is blacked out. Because of pressure from our failing competitors. We're sorry for that.

Though the bill is still a topic of debate now and has been postponed in parliament until a unanimous agreement is reached between billionaires from Hollywood and hard working folks like us.

Rep. Lamar Smith postponed plans to draft the bill, saying "The committee remains committed to finding a solution to the problem of online piracy that protects American intellectual property and innovation ... The House Judiciary Committee will postpone consideration of the legislation until there is wider agreement on a solution."

When i was surfing the net , i found some fascinating option that can use in blogger. It's really amazing. It a animating dock. You can see a edited version of it in my blog too ( Update :- 3D dock is removed in order to give a quick load ).it's similar to the dock in Mac OS and also to the Dock of Brico Pack Vista Inspirat update.How ever first all , i must say that any of these amazing codes are not written by me.Now lets see how to add this.

Smooth Scrolling "Back To Top" Button for Blogger

Finally yet another exciting trick to create a smooth scroll to top button for BlogSpot blogs. We designed and released many buttons and tutorials on back to top/bottom buttons but they were all static and had no fade out effects and smooth scroll effects. Luckily we just discovered a cool jquery script that does all the work. A back to top button is crucial for a blog or site because visitors enjoy easy site navigation so this button will provide them with this ease. We have kept the installation process a one step process. Please see this button in action towards the bottom right corner of this blog.

The best thing about this button is that it appears only when the user scrolls down the page and disappears as he scrolls up.

Adding Post Titles To Older Post Newer Post Links On Blogger

One Wordpress feature i really like that is not available on Blogger is last post, next post links at the foot of the page with the actual titles of the posts they link to.On Blogger we have got Newer Post, Older Post links but the title of the post is not shown.I feel these links would get a super increase in clicks if the titles were connected.With simply "Newer" and "Older" people don't know what they are clicking the titles will catch the eye and thus entice more clicks.The knock on effect of this will see more page views that will lead to more return visitors, subscribers and followers.

I said this feature was not available on Blogger, that is until now.A few people have created hacks to add the titles to the older, newer links including myself but every time it had errors.However one hack i have seen does the job perfectly.

How to Backup/Restore Your Template and Import/Export Your Blog in Blogger

We do many experiments in Blogger. Mostly we are seeking for widgets and add them, try applying custom templates and do more stuff with our template. In addition to template, we publish posts after finding more facts and information, embed images and valuable multimedia content, write and sometimes edit after finding more interesting facts and more to make our blog a valuable source for other readers. After going through all smart and hard work, we are really pleasure to see our blog expanding with loyal readers and comments. But what if you lost your all work in a sudden?

There could be some reasons we may lose our content or may inaccessible our blog. May be purposely, group of people reported you as a spammer, accidently your blog may deleted and cannot be recovered, you may get hacked and there are many reasons on the Web to make your blog disappear. We can't predict what exactly happening on next moment. So rather than finding solutions afterwards, prevention would be better for everyone.

We know how much worth your blog for you. So as a preventive measure, Blogger provides you features to backup your template and export your blog content to use them back in such a helpless scenario. Let's see how to make use of those features.

Back Up Your Template

Your widgets, headers and all related to template will be backed up here.

i. Go to Blogger Dashboard.

ii. Click on your Blog Title.

iii. Navigate to Template tab.

iv. Click on Backup/Restore button on top right.

v. Click Download full template button and you will have a backup copy of your template in XML format (.xml). Keep it in a safe place.

vi. Close the pop up.

Restore Your Template

i. Go to Blogger Dashboard.

ii. Click on your Blog Title.

iii. Jump to Template tab.

iv. Click on Backup/Restore button on top right.

iv. On the pop up you will find Choose File button and click on it. Browse for your backup XML template file (.xml) and click Open button after selecting it.

v. Now click Upload button.

vi. Close the pop up, after the restoration of your template.

Export Your Blog

All your blog content and corresponding Blogger comment form comments will be exported here.

i. Go to Blogger Dashboard.

ii. Click on your Blog Title.

iii. Navigate to Settings.

iv. Jump to Other tab below.

v. Click on Export blog link under the Blog tools heading.

vi. Now click on Download Blog button in the pop up box. It will download your blog content and related comments for you stored in a XML file (.xml). Keep it in a safe place.

vii. Close the pop up.

Import Your Blog

i. Go to Blogger Dashboard.

ii. Click on your Blog Title.

iii. Navigate to Settings.

iv. Jump to Other tab below.

v. Click on Export blog link under the Blog tools heading.

vi. Click on Choose File button on the pop up and click open after selecting your previously saved/exported blog content XML file (.xml).

vii. Fill out the word verification beneath and check Automatically publish all imported posts option if you want to publish your imported posts automatically, right after importing them. Else after importing, your posts may remain unpublished until you navigate to your Blogger dashboard and publish each of them manually.

viii. Now click on Import Blog button to import your blog content with corresponding post comments.

Note: If you importing content to a existing blog, then each of your imported posts will sorted by date and added to the particular places of your blog.

ix. Close the pop up.

How to Customize the Header in Blogger

Blogger offers you a default static blog header including title and description of your blog. Further you can add image/logo too. But you may prefer adding a unique header to your blog. So you might have wonder when you can't remove default Blogger header and couldn't be able to add custom header to your blog. How will you figure it out?

It seems you can't touch default header for further alterations, but you are absolutely wrong until you find how to do it.

Steps:

1. Navigate to your Blogger Dashboard.

2. Click on your Blog Title.

3. Move on to Template tab from left pane.

Note: Before editing your template, you may want to save a copy of it. Read How to Back Up Your Template.

4. Click Edit HTML button.

5. Click Proceed button to view Template Editor.

6. Tick on, Expand Widget Templates option.

7. Now search for following or similar line of code in your template which relates to your blog header section and alter attributes using regarding attribute information indicated.

Color Indication Information

- Maximum Widgets in Header Section

This attribute specifies the maximum number of widgets can be included in header section. The default value is 1. So you can't add widgets more than one for your header section. Change it as the number of widgets you need to include in header section.

i.e: <b:section ... maxwidgets='3' ...

- Enable/Disable Adding New Elements

Though you specified a new maxwidgets attribute value, you may not see Add a Gadget link at Page Elements page until you change this attribute value to yes. Change value to yes as you gonna add new custom header.

i.e: <b:section ... showaddelement='yes'

8. Now you can add custom header for your blog. But before you proceed, let's remove current header on your blog. You can find the line similar to below, just after the line of code we discussed in step 7.

9. Change the locked attribute value to false.

i.e: <b:widget id='Header... locked='false'...

10. Now Save Template.

11. Go to Page Elements tab.

12. Find the header element of your blog, the top most page element just after the Navbar.

13. Now click Edit link correspond to the header.

14. On the immediate pop-up box, click Remove button and confirm removal.

15. Now your default header has been removed. You can see Add a Gadget link at the place where default header was placed before. Click on the link to implement custom header with the help of blogger gadgets you find in next pop-up blogger gadget box. You can add image box if you prefer adding custom image as your header or else HTML/JavaScript element to implement header with dynamic or static content.

Note: You can add more gadgets such as search box, custom text box etc. which seems to be suite to your header section (except to the main header) upto the number of widgets you allowed in the header section code at step 7.
