WordPress Tips: Split Posts into Multiple Pages

Today we are going to discuss about a feature of WordPress called “Multi-Paged Posts”. By using this feature you can split your posts into multiple pages. This is very useful when you write a long post and want to split into different web pages. You can split a post in many pages.

To divide a post into multiple pages you have to add next page tag in your post while writing your post. If your blog theme is very good and well coded then only you have to add <!–nextpage–> whenever you want to break your posts.

1. Open your WordPress Dashboard.

2. Add new post or Edit any post.

3. Write your contents.

4. In your post editor change from Visual Editor mode to HTML/Text Editor mode.

5. Just paste the code <!–nextpage–> whenever you want to split your post.

6. Publish your post

Now your post will be divided into multiple pages. The pagination will show up.

Note: This should work for almost every themes. But for any reason if It does not work then you have to add a code in single.php file. For this:

1. Open your Web hosting Cpanel. Open File manager.

2. Open the folders wp-content-> themes-> Open the theme you are using.

3. There you will see a file single.php. Edit the single.php file.

4. Now Add any of the following code.

Page link may appear before post or after post depending on where you paste the code.

5. Save the file. Then Refresh and exit your file manager.

Save it on your hard drive or external device for even safer keeping.

# Disable plugins

Save yourself the trouble of having to fiddle around with configurations and settings after updating WordPress by disabling your plug-ins before you update. This won’t mess them up, you can re-activate them after your successful update. Keeping them activated can cause malfunctions and even more so if you mess things up more by trying to fix it.

# Test Your Site Loading Time

Use Google page speed to test your site’s load time. There are many things that can affect the time it takes to load your site. Settings of plug-ins can affect your site’s speed sometimes. If you are in question of how much a plug-in slows down your site, analyze your speed before activating the plug-in and again after you’ve activated it and compare. You get a score out of one hundred and you also get specific suggestions based on your site on how to improve your speed.

# Use a child theme!

I didn’t really understand the concept of this until I tried to use a child theme after I had already finished editing my WordPress theme the way I wanted it. If you tweak your site without using a child theme and then update that theme your customizations will be gone and you will have to do them all over again. It’s really not that hard, you can find great instructions for setting up a child theme and just go step by step. It will save you time in the long run.

# Set up a test page

Set up a test page for tweaking and really digging into the basics stuff when editing WordPress. Using a child theme will prevent you from losing your theme alterations after an update but it doesn’t prevent you from screwing things up in general. Tweaking and learning how to do things to your site is best done on a test site you’ve set up first. Once you’ve mastered it, duplicate what you did on the test site on your live site. Google Plus Gets A New Look And Feel

Google+ users will see new features, including larger cover photos, pop up today on the search engine's social media network.

The most noticeable update is the larger cover photo that can be expanded to 2,120 pixels by 1,192 pixels. The user's profile image is now in a circle -- a nod to the social network's use of circles where members collect their followers or those they follow.

Sara McKinley of Google posted an update on Google+ that explained some of the changes:

A tab for local reviews allows users to highlight favorite restaurants. Users can hide the tab, too.

Improved profile editing. The 'About' tab displays the user's info in separate sections labeled 'work', 'education', 'places' and other categories. Each includes an 'edit' link to change and update that information.

McKinley says not all users will see the updates since they are "rolling out gradually," she wrote on her post.

Some of the changes, especially the larger cover image and tiles in users' 'About' tabs, strongly resemble Facebook's Timeline format.

How To Recover Hacked WordPress Blog

Analyze and Re-install Your Plugins

In order to recover the hacked WordPress blog, all you need to do is to just go through the plugins.
