Advanced Tech - A nice blogger template with header tabs, orange color post headers, and post calendar icons.

Altruism - A clean minimalistic template with a white background and bright green sidebar.

Aspire - A rustic look and calendar in the sidebar make this blog template perfect for history bloggers and traditional food bloggers.

Bella - Pink and very feminine. A nice template floral designs on the header and calendar icons on the posts.

BlueMarine - A clean design with nice RSS buttons, and lots of header space.

Butterfly 2 - This is a nicely done template with two red strips running on the sides of the blog and butterflies in the header and sidebar.

Cat - Glossy, shiny; great for a web 2.0 centric blog.

Collaboration - A very clean template, one of my favorites in this list.

Complimentary - A clean white Blogger template, perfect for posting icons with posts. The green header with the blue strip is really standing out.

Darkspark- This is a neat and classy looking black and blue template with floral designs going on in the header. The blue post headers against the black background stand out quite well.

Dear Diary - A red and black combination with an admittedly huge diary image as the header. If waste of space doesn’t bother you, it’s quite good.

Decorativo - Easy on the eyes, great for a literature-themed blog.

Embouteilllage - Red and black always go together quite well and the combination has been used here quite nicely.

Erudite - I love the templates at this site. This particular one is very clean and can be easily customized.

Feminina 1 - Pink background and one for the girls. In fact, you will see a lot more pink in the Feminina series.

Feminina 2 - A girl in pink on the left sidebar adds a dash of femininity in this striking template. Again, the header is a bit too big for my taste.

Feminina 3 - Pink and butterflies. You can’t beat that.

Flor - A simple, clean floral design.

Flower Pink Border - If you’re up for something different, try this combination of black and pink.

Flowers - Nice “boxy” design and a very modern look. I’d never guess it’s Blogger at first sight.

FrozenAge - The header image makes this one “frozen”, but change that and you can make it whatever you want.

Garota - Goth-style template, too dark for me but I’m sure many will like it; especially those who are into vampire movies.

Gemstone - Very nice use of the header area and a good color combination.

Genesis - A three-column dark color theme with nice header tabs and sidebar header buttons.

Glass - Another personal favorite of mine, creates that “wow” effect right from the start.

GossipCity - A three column template that will give your blog that metro look with stars and shines.

Graydient - A two column template with gray background and header tabs.

Grungy - A two column clean and white template on the backdrop on a nice blue floral design.

History channel - A template based on the History Channel.

Honest Expressions - A template that is very similar to K2 but has nice sidebar header buttons.

Impress - A clean template with a touch of green. Nice header.

iPhone - For all you iPhone aficionados, here is the perfect template for your blog.

Isabela - An orange strip on the header, a white background, and a girl on the backdrop. A nice combination.

iTheme - A two column template with a blue techno background.

iWork - A two column template with a office theme.

Jeans- A template that looks like your faded jeans. Quite nice if you are a cowboy. Or like cowboys.

Langit - A beautiful three column template with recent comments on the header.

Leia - A popular template in three column. There are header tabs, and a big blog description space on the right-hand side.

Looter xp - A simple black and white design with some striking effects.

Maio - A dark template with a pink flavour to it. There is an adsense-ready column included as well.

Midnight - A 2-column dark template with nice header tabs.

Missing Piece - This template has a sidebar that is quite nicely done up. The color combinations are noteworthy.

Mosaico - A template design in mosaic style.

Natural Beauties - This is a clean and sober template with a nice header color and sidebar header buttons. There are some header tabs also that will come quite useful.

Naturescharm - Quite a bright and lively template that any young girl would like to use.

Navideno - A eye appealing treat with a fruity flavor.

O2 - This is a popular Wordpress template ported to Blogger. It is a three column template with a bigger sidebar on top of two mini bars on the right hand side.

Oggi - The header comes as part of the post section while the sidebar goes up to the top in this good looking design.

Outono - Another two column template with a floral design on the body.

Pink Stars - A pink background and stars to complement and bring out that perfect feminine look. A great one for the ladies.

Polaroid - The header has been done nicely with lots of stuff that you can put in there. if you have a lot of content and categories to display, this is one that you might like.

ProAds - This one is perfect for placing those 150×150 image ads.

Rainbow Garden - Would you like to have you post decorated nicely with the garden flowers? This is the template for you then.

Red Girl - Quite a nice theme with a red background and an unusual style. You can put your picture int he header.

Revolution - We have seen so many Wordpress magazine themes, but this one if for Blogger. check it out.

Bloggerized AdSense - AdSense ready template, not too shabby looking.

iPlantilla - another Mac-themed template with a very clean look.

Rounded Blue - Pretty white flowers on a blue backdrop. Quite pleasing to the eyes.

Secret - Nice hand drawings. And quite a unique design that definitely is striking.

Andreas02 - Lots of tab links above the header. You can showcase the description of each active tab on the header.

Andreas08 - From the same author of the one above. The header is ready to be customised with your own picture.

Agua - A minimalistic clean template giving a pure white look.

Cajas - A blog tittle in a header that looks like the Blogger navbar and five menu links with multi-color backgrounds that tool the place of the traditional blog header.

Colibri - This reminds you of a garden, doesn’t it?

Dead - This one can be described as heavy metal/rock style - sinister and dark.

Eclipse - Another dark theme that brings werewolves to mind. An enchanting template for the dark souls.

Emire - Beautiful color combination but I wish there was more width for the post and the sidebar.

Red-White Web 2.0 - The buttons are nice. The search bar looks like a candy bar. The color combination is good. A template true to its name.

S08 - A blue color body on a darker blue background - you might have thought it won’t work? But here it is.

Vertical - As a the name suggests, this is a vertically designed clean template. You might want to throw in some more code and utilize the space below the blog title better.

Web 2.0 - A black and white template with a slight touch of blue color on the blog logo and the RSS feed.

3-column templates

Andreas4 - Another popular Wordpress template by Andreas cloned for Blogger. The template can be used as a bare bone structure for customization.

Autumn Grass - I like the color combination and the vertical menu links in the header. There is also sufficient space there for ads and videos.

Beautiful Red Apple - Another nice Wordpress theme converted into a Blogger template, has a 940px width frame, lots of space and customization possibilities.

Butterfly Magic - Another beautiful color combination, or shall we call it just another butterfly effect

Clean Elegant - Here’s one for all you Photoshop lovers, though we could do without the Adsense ad box, which spoils the whole meaning of the template.

Columnas - This theme’s peculiar design stands out from the rest of the templates in this list. Nice and clean.

Cultivado - Neat, floral, elegant - this one’s perfect for writing on life, philosophy, thoughts, poetry, love and the like.

Dark Ritual - A nice theme which somehow reminds us of Adams Family.

Informativo - A similar template to the Columnas template above but with the header, for the less-unconventional bloggers who wants to stick with the proven.

Likewise v1.1 - A clean white template with one column for the post and with three column footer on a black background.

Magazine-Style - A nice template if you have a lot of information and widgets to display up front. It has got a three columns in the main area as well as in the footer area.

Minimalista - Another great port from Wordpress to Blogger.

Minyx 2.0 - A great template without pictures; good use of available space.

Pink Flower - A simple and elegant template with an image of, you guessed it, a pink flower.

Pizza - Don’t be dissuaded by the pizza theme if you are thinking of using this for a different subject blog. The template is highly customizable. The unique element in this template is the header which has been divided into two parts. You can display your blog logo or tittle on the left-side header box while using the other box for whatever you like.

Pro - A different-look search box, menu links above the blog title, and the graduated blue header background in a unique design makes this template unique.

Puerto - Somehow this template makes the post body look grand and majestic.

The Hobbit - If you are a fan of Tolkien, this one is for you.

Neo - A 3 column template that reloads in parts allowing faster reading and surfing.

Slined Mod 2.0 - Somehow, this one seems to fit a music/gaming theme best.

Copyright Law: 12 Dos and Don’ts

As the blogging phenomenon expands, copyright concerns become quite important. Technology makes it really easy to copy, modify and share information, whether we talk about text, images, audio or video. The problem is that the vast majority of people do not have a clear understanding of the Copyright Law, which might result in illegal and costly mistakes. Below you will find 12 Do’s and Dont’s that will clarify what you can and what you can not do as an online publisher:

DOS

1. Do use material under public domain: you are free to use any work that is in public domain. This includes federal government documents, materials produced before 1923 and materials produced before 1977 without a copyright notice.

2. Do quote something you find interesting: the Copyright Act defines that short quotations for the purpose of criticism, commentary or news reporting are considered “fair use”. Notice that the quote should involve only a small portion of the work, and it should not replicate the “heart” of the material.

3. Do use facts and ideas: Copyright Law protects the expression of facts and ideas. That is the form, combination and structure of documents and not the facts themselves. You are free to use facts and ideas reported on articles or websites.

4. Do use other materials that are not subject to copyright: apart from facts and ideas there are many other classes of materials that can not be protected under the Copyright Law. Those materials include names, familiar symbols, listings of ingredients or contents, short phrases, titles, slogans and procedures (notice that some of those materials might be protected by trademark, though).

5. Do use a company name or logo if you are talking about it: trademarks should protect a company from people trying to use its name or logo to deceive customers. If you are criticizing or analyzing a company, however, you can use its name or logo under a “nominative fair use”.

6. Do use a company name on your domain: as mentioned on the previous item you can use a company’s name as long as you are not trying to deceive people that you speak on behalf of this company or that you are related to it in any way. This right applies to domain names. Someone could create a website to complain about a company, say Microsoft, and use a domain name that contains the name of this company, say microsoftsucks.com.

DON’TS

7. Don’t assume that if you credit the author there is no copyright infringement: a lot of people wrongly think that if they credit the author of an article or image they are not violating the copyright law. You can only use copyrighted material if you have explicit permission from the author to do so (or if you make fair use of it, as explained before).

8. Don’t copy material just because it does not show a copyright message: the Copyright Law required a copyright notice to protect works until 1977. In 1978, however, the law changed and abolished the requirement for copyright notice. This means that every published work (be it on paper or digital media) automatically gets copyright protection, whether expressed with a notice or not.

9. Don’t equate Creative Commons with “free for grab”: while Creative Commons licenses are less restrictive then standard copyright they should not be interpreted a “free for grab”. In order to understand what you can or can not do with Creative Commons material you should check what kind of license it is using. Certain licenses will require you to credit the original author, while others will require that you release any modifications of the document under the same license.

10. Don’t copy material just because you are not making a commercial use: while making commercial use of copyrighted material might make it easier for the author to claim damages against you the commercial use per se is not a requirement for copyright infringement. Who else wants to increase they AdSense CTR numbers? Everyone should be raising their hand. I’m going to tell you some of the secrets I have learned about AdSense throughout the years, and more specifically what you can do to increase your CTR percentage.

If you follow these steps, you should have no problem increasing your CTR by at least two percent, and you could possibly see a 100 to 1,000% or more increase if you follow these steps well.

Put Ad Units On Pages With Lots Of Text

This one is kind of a no brainer, but it makes perfect sense. For the most part, AdSense ads are displayed as text, and you can force AdSense to only display text ads too, which will work to your advantage. The more keywords you have, and the more content on your page, the easier it is for your ads to blend in with your site.

Do Not Tell Your Visitors That These Are Ads

Whenever possible it is also useful to raise your quality score by including the keywords within the ad title or description and by using action keywords such as register, sign-up or browse so that the user knows what to expect on the next page. A high quality score will help to improve the relevancy of your ad which can result in your ad ranking higher than a competitor with a larger bid. For large accounts a quick trick is to use {KeyWord:Default Text}, this will insert the keyword from your AdGroup into your ad text providing that it is within the character limit, otherwise it will use the default text defined.

8) Selecting your destination URL
The Google AdWords algorithm now reviews the quality of landing pages so it’s more important than ever to ensure your destination URL is relevant to the keyword bid upon. It is also important to make sure that the user is directed to the webpage they expect to see, rather than being taken to the homepage and having to find the right page for themselves.

9) Conversion tracking
In order to monitor the performance of your account it is important to track conversions so that you can review where sales or leads are coming from to help manage the campaigns based upon results. A cost per conversions value will then be displayed within your reports which will help to make key decisions (such as changing bids, dropping keywords or ad variations) easier. If you are running any other, non-AdWords, advertising campaign you can also set-up a cross-channel to track the conversions from these as well, for example Yahoo! Search Marketing.
