We all know a ghettoblaster dangling on the edge of the bathtub or taking your iPod with your underneath the shower isn't a good idea. This wireless bathroom speaker is powered by batteries (which makes it a bit more safe), has an analogue LCD clock, a built-in wall bracket, a fogless mirror (the part on the top) and gets its audio via a little wireless send station. So this could be your perfect gadget in the shower cabin. There is no information on the range of the wireless signal, but if sufficient you would even be able to connect it to your media center and tap in on the music that's going on there.

Sony Bravia picture frame LCD TV

This is the stuff we're looking for! A minimalistic design with the latest high tech features hidden into it. The new Sony Bravia E4000 LCD televisions are designed to blend in with other picture frames. The E4000 series has a 26, 32 and 40-inch model, all with 3 HDMI, 1 SCART input and full HD for the 32 and 40-inch models. There's a range of color correcting technologies on-board, one of them is the 'Picture Frame Mode' to display images when the TV is not in use. There are six preinstalled pictures in the television but you can also connect a USB stick to display your own pictures on it. Price and availability are still uncertain, but we should expect Sony to start delivering one of these weeks.

Digital fridge magnet

In general digital photo frames around the house can give a too techy 'what is this, Las Vegas?' feeling if you ask me. But this little digital fridge magnet photo frame just looks cute. It has an internal memory of 32 Mb, a 2.4 inch LCD screen with a resolution of 320 x 240 and supports JPG, BMP and GIF files.

Asus Essentio Media Center

Asus just gave out a press release about what they already call 'the world's smallest desktop PC'. They will probably beat their own statement (if the rumors are true) with their own Asus Eee desktop. But although very likely to also be in a different price class, the Essentio has some impressive hardware specifications that just scream 'Media Center'. Everything inside the small, glossy, black box is focused on silence (23.9 dB when idle), high definition video (powerful video card and HDMI output), high definition audio (7.1 surround with S/PDIF output) and a small form factor. WiFi laptop bag

This certainly makes more sense than the WiFi detecting glow-in-the-dark t-shirts we've been seeing around. The Soyntec WiFinder (not to confuse with a bag that finds Nintendo game consoles) has a little LCD display on the side to show you hotspot activity. Now you don't have to boot your laptop to search for open hotspots but you can simply check your laptop bag. If the signal is strong enough you can choose to boot your laptop and get online. Prices are between $52,- and $101,- for different models.

Hidden pool table in dinner table

This table only makes sense if you see the before and after pictures. Fusion tables designed a table that looks awesome as a dinner table but is also, if you take off the top, a pool table. A typical AllCoolAndNew product: hidden appear-when-you-need-it-functionality in a stylish design. Because of the dimensions of the pool table it does make a pretty large dinner table. But how cool is that pool table?! And I don't even play pool.

iPhone musical instruments

Apple recently announced the new iPhone SDK (software development kit) for third party application developers. Of course third party applications have been available for jailbroken iPhones for some time now among which were some virtual instruments. The Japanese band Denki Groove used only those virtual instruments on their iPhones en iPods Touch to create their own version of Smoky Bubbles as the video below shows. Silence in the living room

If you ever used or planing to use a computer or an old no-longer-in-use computer in your living room as a media center (HTPC), you know silence of the machine is a big factor. You don't want anything that sounds like it could take off any second while reading a book. Cooling (fan noise) is one thing, but often hard drive noise is very noticeable too. A lot of hard drives are specialised in being silent and there are some smart tricks and tools to damp noise even more but it will still have moving part and therefore produce noise.

An other alternative is to use a solid state disk (SSD) because it has no moving part thus makes no noise. The most common SSD is the SD Card and with prices of these cards dropping every month it's getting more and more attractive to use as a silent Operation System hard drive for you media center. You can get an 8 GB SanDisk SD Card for $18,- which should be enough to install Windows XP on and your media center software. But how can you replace your IDE or SATA hard drive with an SD Card? With an SD Card adapter. You replace the hard drive with the adapter and plug in your SD Card. From that moment on the computer will see the SD Card as a standard hard drive (for example C:).

Obviously you'll need more than 8 GB in your media center to store all you media files. But by using an SD Card to boot your Operating System you've already exterminated 90% of the noticeable noise when your media center isn't in use.

Chalk board clock

Simple ideas are often the best. Why not combine a clock with a note board? This Eco-Artware clock is made of blackboard material and has a little chalk holder along the bottom. Might be useful in the kitchen (like the image proposes) but I can imagine making more use out of the clock/chalkboard combination by putting certain time related notes on certain parts of the day. For example "write blog post" on the place where the hour hand hits 4 o'clock.

The PerCushion is a Bluetooth headset in a pillow form factor. It has al the usual hands-free features like volume control, muting and redialing but also has a built-in camera and a washable coat. Solar powered backpack

As long as portable nuclear power sources are uninvented (or safe...) battery life is still the biggest struggle for gadget users. But with this solar panel included backpack you can give your laptop, iPod, cell phone or other gadget the juice it needs. All it needs is a bit of sun light. It has a special protective (removable) laptop sleeve inside, holders for CDs, pencils or keys and comes in three different colors. The power generated in the solar panel on the back is transferred through a standard 12V car input (cigarette lighter) for which every self-respecting gadget has an adapter. The side pocket even has a special outlet for headphones.

Lots of sun and a shortage of power sockets... sounds perfect for on the piste. That is if you don't fall on your back too often.

Just announced at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas the Belkin Rockstar should be available in stores around march for about $ 20,- a piece. It's an audio hub where up to 5 headphones can be connected to a single audio source. So if you want some friends to check out a song on your iPod, just let them plug in and enjoy it with you. It's certainly more attractive then the splitter-on-splitter-on-splitter solution! According to us, the Belkin Rockstar will be especially useful when watching a movie with friends on a portable media player in public.

New Samsung Ultra Mobile PC

Samsung unveiled its new UMPC, the SPH-P9200. It's very compact, looks awesome and it has some nice hardware inside. But the folding keyboard is probably what makes it most interesting. This way you have a compact PC with a touchscreen AND a full size keyboard for typing. And lets face it: all good intentions aside, there hasn't really been a proper replacement for a full sized keyboard for text input. The Samung SPH-P9200 runs on Windows XP, has a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of memory, 30 GB hard drive, 5 inch WVGA touchscreen, SIM card slot to be able to connect over GSM/GPRS/Edge and 3G, WiFi support, a 1,3 mega pixel camera and some USB ports. All inside a 0.65 kg device. In the video below you can see how the keyboard works.

Watch TV on your Nintendo DS

The Nintendo DS is mainly used for gaming and without an internal (reachable) memory watching video material on it seems impossible. But with some tools and the right configuration you can watch movies or recorded television from your media center with pretty amazing quality on the Nintendo handheld. Temperature / color changing kettle

Information is everything! So whatever use you may find for it, it's always nice to get an indication on how hot the water in your kettle is. The Kenwood response kettle shows you the temperature in colors. Assuming the kettles in this picture are organised from cold to boiling it will transform from light blue to red. It also has an extra switch to maintain an 80 degrees celsius (apparently the ideal temperature to make tea). The kettle is part of Kenwood's 21 century breakfast set which also includes a toaster.
