<p>If recently anyone ask me, &#8220;Which place would you recommend for a romantic dinner?&#8221;, I&#8217;d definitely suggest <strong>The Sire Museum Restaurant</strong>. Are you getting any confuse; is it a museum or a restaurant? It&#8217;s both actually.</p>
<p>The Sire Museum Restaurant is previously the <a href="http://www.penang-traveltips.com/house-of-yeap-chor-ee.htm" target="_blank">house of <strong>Yeap Chor Ee</strong></a>. His grandson &#8216;transformed&#8217; his house into a museum based restaurant to commemorate Yeap Chor Ee&#8217;s birthday. The restaurant has a very cosy and romantic environment. The moment I entered this restaurant, I&#8217;ve fallen in luv with it. It was warmly lighted with soft music playing in the background.</p>
<p>As we were being seated at the inner part of the restaurant, I noticed that there is another hall which lead to the museum. The museum of <em>peranakan <strong>(baba &amp; nyonya)</strong></em><em>. </em>In the museum, there are a series of facts on how Mr. Yeap Chor Ee begin his career. It was very inspiring! There are a lot more things to be seen in the museum, guess you&#8217;ll enjoy it more if you find if out yourself then I describing it here. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Sire Museum 9" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4057/4679206752_2c5854d42d_b.jpg" alt="" width="694" height="1024" /></p>

<p>We were served with nicely baked <strong>baguette</strong>. It&#8217;s crispy and tasted cheesy. I like it!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Sire Museum 1" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4038/4679193900_f0bea22e27_b.jpg" alt="" width="694" height="1024" /></p>
<p><strong>Wild Mushroom Soup </strong>(RM 15.80) served with rich cream and rye bread. The mushroom soup is thick and fragrant. I&#8217;d be more happy if the rye bread can be exchange with the toasted baguette. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p><strong>Tenderloin Medallions</strong> (RM 49.80) was ordered medium well. The steak is juicy but not the best that I&#8217;ve tasted.</p>

<p><strong>Inaka Japanese Restaurant </strong>the gathering venue of that day.</p>

<p><span id="more-2128"></span>Since a member of us keep on promoting the <em>sashimi </em>at this restaurant, we definitely can&#8217;t miss to order one. <strong>Scallop sashimi (RM 25)</strong> definitely wins our heart! It&#8217;s fresh and juicy.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Tuna Sashimi 2" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4007/4574476093_fdb56a9984_o.jpg" alt="" width="832" height="1227" /></p>
<p><strong>Shiro Maguro (white tuna) RM22</strong> just melted right in my mouth. How I wish to have more of that <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p>Since there are 7 of us, it&#8217;s only 1 slice per person. That&#8217;s not enough, I want more! <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Tuna Sashimi" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4023/4575106922_8b87796f52_o.jpg" alt="" width="832" height="1227" /></p>
<p><strong>Inaka Bento Set D</strong> consist of cod fish teriyaki, beef roll , bread crumb fried prawn. <strong>(RM 28.90)</strong>. The side dishes that come with the bento set are miso soup, a bowl of white rice, chawanmushi and fruits. The cod fish is spoiled by the teriyaki sauce. All I tasted is the teriyaki sauce sweetness and no sweetness from the cod fish was found. I am disappointed with the cod fish.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Bento Set 1" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4048/4574562523_6d3171e63b_o.jpg" alt="" width="832" height="1227" /></p>

<p>Luckily the <strong>beef roll</strong> taste good! The beef tasted sweet and the enoki mushroom wrapped underneath it is so flavorful.</p>

<p>When I said &#8216;<strong><a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/category/hawker-food/lor-mee/" target="_blank">Lor Mee</a></strong>&#8216;, I guess you&#8217;d imagine thick gravy with some herbs and spices taste bowl of noodle. Today I&#8217;d like to write about a <em>special bowl of lor mee</em>.</p>
<p>You can get this &#8217;special lor mee&#8217; at <strong>Kafe Fountain </strong>which is located along <strong>Carnarvon Street</strong>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Kafe Fountain 1" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2743/4401463594_2d7e5a6ca5_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="367" /></p>
<p><span id="more-2113"></span>The gravy for this special lor mee is much thicker than the normal lor mee. This lor mee is<strong> stir fried</strong> together with the thick gravy. Yes, you do read correctly. <strong>Stir Fried</strong>. That&#8217;s why I call it &#8216;<em>special lor mee</em>&#8216;. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>This lor mee tasted like <em>shark fin soup</em>. It must be due to the <strong>vinegar</strong> added into it during preparation. The dark thick gravy is cook with egg. There are bits of fish meat, pork and prawn. For RM3.80 you get a big bowl of lor mee.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Kafe Fountain 4" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2700/4401464474_80d21eaac1_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="367" /></p>
<p>Other than lor mee, there are other hawker food that you can have here. You can have the <strong>char koay teow</strong> here too.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Kafe Fountain 2" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2770/4400696705_a0f627a99f_o.jpg" alt="" width="544" height="806" /></p>
<p>This plate of char koay teow is with duck egg. Although it looks very red, but it&#8217;s not very spicy. Taste wise, not bad. The only drawback is the ckt is a bit dry.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Kafe Fountain 3" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2795/4400696953_dc9ec4c185_o.jpg" alt="" width="542" height="367" /></p>
<p>There are also a stall selling roasted duck, roasted pig (siew yuk and char siew). We ordered a plate with combination of roasted duck and siew yuk.</p>
<p>The roasted duck is too dry. There&#8217;s no sauce for us to dip to compensate on the dry meat.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Kafe Fountain 5" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4010/4400697683_b3dccf2a37_o.jpg" alt="" width="544" height="806" /></p>
<p>The siew yuk is sinfully good. Not the best I&#8217;ve eaten, but good.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Kafe Fountain 6" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2698/4401465274_28dab0cd68_o.jpg" alt="" width="544" height="806" /></p>
<p>Or Chien (Oyster Omelette) tasted good leh! I love this Or Chien due to there&#8217;s lots of egg and very less tapioca flour in it.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Kafe Fountain 7" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4026/4400698507_00d56d8940_o.jpg" alt="" width="544" height="806" /></p>

<p>This Chinese New Year is like any other CNY. I went back to my hometown, reunion with hometown friends and family. Everything is joy for the one whole week at hometown except for the very limited internet connection. Been missing all the blogs updates. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif' alt=':(' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>My only option to online is by using Digi gprs signal. There&#8217;s no broadband signal. Imagine the speed of the connection&#8230; It&#8217;s just 113 kbps! Oh god!</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s start a New Year post with something good! Upon arriving at <strong>Taipei</strong> we were greeted by cool breeze as it&#8217;s winter and it was getting dark although it&#8217;s around 5pm. We were already starving after check in to <strong><a href="http://www.dandyhotel.com.tw/" target="_blank">Dandy Hotel</a></strong>.</p>
<p>Since <strong>Xi Men Ding</strong> is just 10 mins away from our hotel, we decided to go to Xi Men Ding to explore the food!</p>
<p>Upon arriving, my aunt is so excited to see <strong>white bitter gourd</strong> juice which tasted bitter with a hint of honey taste. Very good for cooling body heat but I don&#8217;t like it as I don&#8217;t fancy bitter food.  :P</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Taiwan Xi Men Ding 1" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4068/4342235639_ab7cebaa25_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p><strong><span id="more-2093"></span>Ah Zhong Mian Xian</strong> (<em>Ah Zhong Mee Suah</em>) &#8211; one of the very famous food among Taiwan local people and tourist. I never expect to eat the mee suah in this way. Everyone is just standing in front of the shop eating their bowl of mee suah. There are so many people patronizing this shop.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Taiwan Xi Men Ding Ah Zhong Mian Xian 1" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2772/4342236081_5c0a93ee3c_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p>Ah Zhong Mian Xian was founded since 1975 which is 35 years ago. The mee suah is pre-cooked in a big pot where the worker just scoop into a bowl and it&#8217;s ready to serve.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Taiwan Xi Men Ding Ah Zhong Mian Xian 2" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2789/4342974128_12443b0008_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>My bowl of mee suah with some pig intestine served together.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Taiwan Xi Men Ding Ah Zhong Mian Xian 3" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4042/4342974594_bf1c69b6a6_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>The seasoning (garlic oil, vinegar and chili oil) is placed in a nearby small counter where everyone help themselves with it. You can add the seasoning base on your liking.</p>
<p>Beware of the chili oil, just a small amount is enough to bring the spiciness.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Taiwan Xi Men Ding Ah Zhong Mian Xian 4" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4033/4342251517_e26b5f6615_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>Ah Zhong Mian Xian taste very different from our Shilin Oyster Mee Suah. Firstly there&#8217;s no oyster in Ah Zhong Mian Xian. Secondly the mian xian tasted very fragrant, I guess thanks to the pig&#8217;s intestine.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Taiwan Xi Men Ding Ah Zhong Mian Xian 5" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2677/4342989934_7c8d149232_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>

<p>Seems like it&#8217;s been quite sometime I didn&#8217;t post about <a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/category/hawker-food/koay-teow-teng/" target="_blank">koay teow teng </a>ya <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> . If you are a frequent visitor of my blog, you&#8217;ll notice that there&#8217;s one period that I posted a lot on koay teow teng, that other bloggers gave me a nick name as <em>koay teow teng queen</em>. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Browsing thru my koay teow teng post, I realized how I miss the koay teow teng at <a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/2009/03/27/penang-hawker-food-koay-teow-teng-pulau-tikus-market/" target="_blank">Pulau Tikus Market</a>. Normally we didn&#8217;t really want to go to Pulau Tikus Market area due to the heavy traffic at the market area and it&#8217;s very hard to get a parking.</p>
<p>But when we are craving for that particular food so much, the traffic and parking doesn&#8217;t really matter, right?</p>
<p>Koay Teow Teng alone is just too plain to serve as our breakfast. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>So we ordered char koay kak. This char koay kak is good! Full of wok hei and very flavourful.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Char Koay Kak 1" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4057/4304039656_445f49c4d8_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p><span id="more-2079"></span>Comparable with the one at <a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/2009/11/02/best-char-koay-kak-in-penang/" target="_blank">Burmah Road</a> which is selling at night. We always request for more preserved raddish when we order char koay kak. It adds flavour to the plain koay kak.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Char Koay Kak 2" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2748/4303295231_043d12430c_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p>Here comes my favourite bowl of koay teow teng. I love the peppery soup base, and the fragrant from the coriander leaves. OH! The perfect match!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Koay Teow Teng 1" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2762/4304040360_9f13912709_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>Mine is always without the fried garlic oil.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Koay Teow Teng 2" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4072/4304040714_8a81c2d8d8_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p>My bf is a fishball lover, so he order an additional bowl of fishball soup. The fish ball is quite good, slightly springy and very smooth in texture.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Pulau Tikus Market Fish Ball Soup" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4059/4304041102_cf58cf04c4_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>We passed by this roasted pork stall when we enter the place to have koay teow teng. The roasted meat hanging by the stall is so alluring. We really can&#8217;t stand any temptation. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>End up, we bought some <em>char siew</em> (roasted BBQ pork) and <em>siew yuk</em> (roasted pork belly). Both of them tasted equally good. A good breakfast companion. <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p>Lang Sae Lee Thai Food is located by <strong>Tan&#8217;s Jetty</strong>. The dining area is actually situated at the house compound area.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Tan Jetty Thai Food 1" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4067/4311419162_73898c401a_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p><span id="more-2064"></span>Upon seated, we were  asked to order our drinks. Mdm Lee recommended us to try out her <strong>homemade Ribena</strong>. Don&#8217;t be surprise if you don&#8217;t taste any &#8216;Ribena Taste&#8217; in the drink. It tasted more like <strong>sour plum drink</strong>. I like the taste of the drink, appetizing and refreshing on a hot sunny afternoon.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Tan Jetty Thai Food 2" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4044/4311419346_196c7b54e3_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>The menu is just a simple photo book. Looking at the photo menu already makes me drool.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Lang Sae Lee Thai Food Menu" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2779/4324751439_f7ebd8b03f_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>I remember Lingzie said the <strong>fish cake</strong> tasted good, so we ordered fish cake too. And yes! The fish cake didn&#8217;t disappoint us. It&#8217;s full of kaffir leaves fragrant and the cucumber chili sauce goes well with it.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Tan Jetty Thai Food Fish Cake" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2795/4311419894_ca3475cae5_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>Whenever we eat Thai&#8217;s, we&#8217;ll definitely order Tom Yam Soup. It&#8217;s our favourite.  A small bowl of <strong>Red Seafood Tom Yam Soup</strong> is just enough for 2 of us. Don&#8217;t you get deceive by the look of this bowl of tom yam. A first sip of the soup reveals the perfect level of spiciness and sourness (at least for me and my bf).</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Tan Jetty Thai Food Seafood Tomyam Soup 1" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4045/4310681903_2b6dc333d0_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>We just can&#8217;t stop drinking the soup, and the feeling of the warm stomach and the heat makes us sweat from inside is packed with omph! I love this!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Tan Jetty Thai Food Seafood Tomyam Soup 2" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4039/4311420466_fe47bd73a3_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p><strong>Dry Curry Rich in Coconut and Basil Leave</strong> is very spicy. The first mouthful of this dish reveals a very heavy taste of kaffir leaves and spices which is a MUST to eat with white rice. When we swallowed it, the spiciness start to attack our throat. It&#8217;s a very special sensation.</p>
<p>This version is different from<a href="http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/2010/01/22/maa-roy-restaurant-authentic-thai-cuisine/2/" target="_blank"> Maa Roy</a>&#8217;s version. Maa Roy&#8217;s is so rich in coconut milk. If you ask me which is better, I feel that both has their uniqueness.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Tan Jetty Thai Food 3" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4044/4310682481_80d2f6f2ce_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>And this ended our<strong> first meal </strong>at Lang Sae Lee.</p>

<p><span id="more-2053"></span>The ccf is served with thick chicken curry gravy. I love mine to have some <strong>sweet sauce</strong> to mix with the curry. This will create a little sweetness in spiciness.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Cintra Street Curry Chee Cheung Fan 2" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4009/4304012800_82451a75b8_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>The thick curry gravy is full of curry and coconut juice fragrant. It goes very well with the bland ccf.</p>

<p>When you are at Cintra Street, apart from the curry chee cheung fun you can have <strong>chinese dumplings <em><span style="font-weight: normal;">(bah chang)</span></em></strong>, <strong>yam cake </strong>and <strong>tong sui</strong> too!</p>
<p>We wanted to have the chinese dumpling (<em>bah chang</em>) that day, but we were told they were sold out! (it was around 4pm that day). So my dear readers, if you would like to try out the bah chang, visit them earlier.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Cintra Street Food 7" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4023/4303268989_53c828e8d7_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p>For a dessert lover like me, a bowl of <strong>red bean tong sui </strong>is perfect for the tea time. They cook the red bean together with mandarin orange peel which added fragrant to the sweet soup.</p>

<p>But Birthday girl wanted to have light dinner and she prefer Manila Place. Well, birthday girl is the queen of the night right. So Manila Place it is.</p>
<p>Browsing thru the menu, I got attracted by the <strong>100% fresh fruit juice with NO sugar added</strong>.</p>
<p>Birthday girl and me ordered Pineapple + guava + orange + lemon (if I remember correctly). It tasted sourish with minimal sweetness. So tasty yet healthy!</p>
<p>The carrot + lemon juice tasted weird <img src='http://www.alliefoodtalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> Carrot taste does not blend with lemon.</p>

<p><span id="more-2038"></span></p>
<p>Since birthday girl wanted to eat light, she ordered only <strong>sandwich</strong>. The sandwich is pretty standard. Oh! I love the side dish (potato wedges). The outer layer is very crispy and the inner potato is fluffy.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Manila Place 6" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4011/4303232605_0afe693f3a_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p><strong>Seafood Tom Yam Noodle</strong> doesn&#8217;t disappoint us. The soup is sourish and not very spicy.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Manila Place 1" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2724/4303975534_29e8c14f81_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="365" /></p>
<p>It comes with mussels, prawns, mushrooms and some chicken breast fillet.</p>

<p>I ordered<strong> fruit salad</strong>. I love this fruit salad especially the tangy orange like salad dressing. It&#8217;s very appetizing! The lettuce and fruits are fresh as well.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Manila Place 3" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4006/4303976402_9056548698_o.jpg" alt="" width="540" height="800" /></p>
<p>The restaurant is lighted with warm light and very comfortable to dine in. It&#8217;s a cosy place for a romantic couple dinner or a gathering dinner of friends and colleagues.<br />

<p>Ki Xiang offers 2 types of bah kut teh; <strong>bah kut teh soup</strong> and <strong>dry bah kut teh</strong>. Dry bah kut teh is not very common or popular in Penang but is already common in KL.
