1. Avoiding ‘boomy’ bass

When you have just spent a lot of your hard earned money buying some new speakers, the last thing you want to do is to place them incorrectly and find your bass sounds too ‘boomy’. To avoid this, you need to place your speakers away from the walls of the room; about 2 or 3 feet should be your absolute minimum. This will not only ensure your sound is a lot sharper but will also keep your bass sounding beautifully deep.

2. Experimental positioning

It is always a good idea to try a wide variety of different positions for your speakers before you decide on a definite placement. Whilst you are experimenting, try to remember to avoid placing speakers in corners, otherwise you will find you don’t get the best sound. Persevere with placing your speakers at different points in the room and also try out lots of different audio with varying levels of bass. This will ensure you find out exactly where the best placement of speakers is, in order to get the right audio levels.

3. Finding the sweet spot

Your experimenting will hopefully lead you towards finding the ‘sweet spot’. However, to help you out a bit, it is usually a good plan to start by making an equilateral triangle with your speakers and your listening point (i.e. where you tend to sit or stand in the room). You should then seat yourself at the apex of the equilateral triangle you are making with your speakers. You really need to make sure the speakers are equidistant away from you (at the apex) and are both angled equally too. If you take the time to do this correctly, you will find you enjoy the sound performance a great deal more.

4. Placing the speakers at ear level

It is always recommended to make sure the speakers are placed so that the tweeters (producing the high-frequency sounds) are at ear level. This means you will need to raise your speakers, if they are too low, by using speaker stands. Likewise, if they are already on stands and are too high, you will either need to find a way to point them downwards or remove the speakers from the stands. It’s important to get the speakers at the right height because having them at ear level will give you the best balance of sound. If your speakers are too low or too high you will find you miss higher frequencies, which isn’t ideal.

5. Use speaker stands

If you want the very best sound, and no doubt you do, then when buying your speakers, you should ensure you also invest in some high quality stands. Using metal, or wooden, stands will ensure better quality of sound as they reduce unwanted resonance. It’s also a very good idea to use any of the cones or spikes that come with your speakers or speaker stands. Using these will help reduce the amount of ‘kickback’ produced by your speakers. You’ll find this greatly improves the speakers’ performance as the sound will be a lot less muddied.

Traditionally the most common form of storing valuable data is through External disks. IT professionals have been using external storage mediums for data protection for decades. Recently this concept has been transformed into a more sophisticated form which is usually known as Cloud Storage. You might see many people claiming that Cloud computing is not really worth it, but in this article we will try to shed light on some of the key advantages that Cloud Storage brings to us which makes it a much better option compared to other traditional methods of data storage. Few years back nobody knew about the Cloud Storage services except for a few large organizations and not many companies were offering this service as well, except for Amazon and a few others, but now the trend of Cloud Storage services is on its peak.

The only reason why small businesses and individuals refrain from using Cloud Storage is its cost. Cloud Storage might appear as more costly than any other storage methods. Despite of its high cost, Cloud Storage offers great number of advantages that make it a much better solution for professionals and companies.

Extensive Storage Space:
The biggest advantage of using Cloud storage is its ability to provide with extensive storage capacity. Storing this kind of huge data is practically impossible using internal or external devices. This not only saves you time, and cost, but increases the reliability and security of your data to a great extent as well.

Physical Access Not Required:
most of the cloud storages services are virtual and you don’t need to visit them physically to access your data or perform any sort of operation on it. It is usually the Cloud Service provider`s responsibility to provide the maintenance services for the data storage systems. To access the data one has to just connect to the cloud server via internet and perform any required operation on the data.

Auto Backup is Possible:
It is possible in Cloud storage to take backup of your whole data automatically. Whereas in the physical storage drive`s scenario one has to take backup of the data manually which is a time consuming time for some. And if you forget to take the backup at some point of time, you might face a critical data loss. Therefore, this feature of cloud storage makes the life of big corporations a whole lot easier.

Restoration of Data:
It’s not only about taking the backup of Data, in case something goes wrong Cloud storage services offer features that help you restoring your whole data into the cloud storage using any of the previously taken backups. Furthermore, this restoration process is fairly simple and brisk that it does not require much professional expertise.

When you compare Cloud Storage services from a standard web hosting or file sharing service, than Cloud storage appear as a pretty expensive one, but the advantages it brings to any business is priceless and therefore every business should consider using Cloud Service to make the data of their company more reliable and secure.

When you put the radio on while you’re driving, you probably tend to do it without thinking. This is something most of us will do on a daily basis after all and it’s not generally considered to be particularly harmful in any way.

Actually though, if you have the radio on when you’re driving, you might be surprised to learn that it can impact on your ability to drive safely in a number of ways. This isn’t always for the worse, but it’s certainly worth being aware of if you want to get the most from your driving and avoid the kind of music that might be particularly dangerous. Read on to find out how the radio can possibly impact on your driving.

Talkies

Having the radio on a talking station is something that can be highly useful for long stints stuck in traffic, but if you need 100% concentration it can be a problem in many ways. Studies have shown that talking on the phone can significantly reduce reaction time because it ‘divides’ your attention, and the same is true for chatting to a passenger. It only makes sense then to presume that having the radio on, on a station that requires thought and active listening, could potentially have a similar effect.

Likewise another way that a talking radio station could be a problem is if you were to be using a satellite navigation unit. In this case, you may find that the loud talking combined with the instructions from the device makes it hard to filter out the relevant information and you could potentially miss the directions you needed.

Rock Music

Fortunately the majority of us don’t tend to listen to pod cast on our long journeys and will instead put on ‘driving music’ for those longer motorway stints. So what effect will this have? Well, turns out it’s a mixed bag…

On the one hand, rock music has an up-beat tempo often and it has been suggested that this could help drivers to stay alert and aware while driving. If you’re driving and you find yourself in danger of nodding off at any moment, then putting on some slightly aggressive rock music might be just what you need to wake back up (though further studies suggest that the most effective music is music that gradually increases in tempo rather than keeping it high consistently).

At the same time though, this angry music may well lead to more aggressive driving due to both the lyrics and the increased excitability. Obviously road rage means you’re more likely to get more points on your driving record, so this is something worth avoiding.

Classical

Classical music might be good for helping you to keep calm in a traffic jam as it has been shown to be able to lower blood pressure. However, if you are driving in the dark for long stretches, then Eine Kleine Nachtmusik is probably the last thing you need as it could be just enough to lull you to sleep.

Choose your music carefully then depending on your mood and your situation, but most importantly make sure to keep your eyes on the road and to only change stations when you’re stopped.

Whenever we hear the term interaction design we think of it as some far off possibility that does not really find its way into our everyday browsing for instance. It is only a matter of time before it becomes more and more common and it starts to affect the way we look up information for example. Many experts and tech-wizards believe that in earlier years digital design was still immature and that in 2013 we will be able to enjoy it in its advanced form. This applies to applications (both web apps and those for mobile phones), websites, and other forms of media that is at all interactive in nature.

The ways in which interactive media is slowly but surely creeping into our lives are as follows:-

Platforms are made to create interactive websites that really appeal to users all over the world and especially if they have special affinity for the genre or the topic being discussed.

Content is now accessible widely on mobiles and formats have been adjusted to accommodate the needs of standard smartphones. Streamlining the content you need is now much easier than before.

Many web designers believe that interactive media is fast becoming an absolute necessity and that it is no longer an add-on on various websites. It is not an accessory anymore but is very much present now.

Greater development in this regard is taking place and now web developers and web designers are working together to create better and improved interactive media.

Devices are now coming out every day and newer models of everything are being created at break-neck speed. To cope with this massive influx of new devices, development is also going through a surge.

Even touch technology may soon be replaced with something else, so users and touch screen enthusiasts need to watch out for that.

The new trend that is following interactive media and web design is making material look as legibly and easily readable as possible. Previously, navigation was not as easy as this and often some time would be wasted before the user got what he or she was looking for. Now it is all about accessibility and ease of use for the website visitors. Headings and sub-headings are used and content is neatly divided according to relevancy so that there is no needless scrolling around for no reason.

However there may be a few drawbacks for designers when these sorts of things are being designed. It is undesirable that the webpage should look like it’s retarded or that it’s a page out a baby book. Content needs to be easily found but within reason obviously. Touch sensitivity is very important and it also directly translates into ease for the user. It is an element that designers are now using to the best of their advantage.

Since so much development has already taken place, most web designers are sort of apprehensive about the next big thing. They don’t want to create anything that is similar or that may turn out to be unpopular in the long run. Users do tend to be temperamental in such matters.

Uncertainty will perhaps always exist in this field to a certain extent. Content still takes the centre stage and many users are after just that and not some technological slideshow that will open their minds. Designers need to think a lot about this and need to know that an overuse of technology is not the answer. The content may work even if it is not rich in media items, colorful displays and visually impressive images.

Colocation centers are not only used to house third-party IT equipment, but can also be utilized for disaster recovery purposes. Data centers can be costly to setup and maintain and are also limited in terms of total IT load capacity.

With colocation, a company purchases its own equipment and installs it within a facility which is operated and managed by a private vendor. The management of the facility is responsible for the security and continuous functionality of the equipment being placed there.

Over the years, there has been a surge in the demand for colocation facilities particularly because small businesses cannot afford to build expensive data centers. By opting for colocation services, small sized companies can enjoy the luxury of employing a large scale IT setup.

Companies opting for colocation for the first time have numerous questions in mind.

Method of providing power to server racks?

Server rooms within a colocation facility contain racks which are used to house servers. Since resources are shared by various clients, servers being run by two different companies can be easily positioned side by side.

Every rack provides a single conditioned power circuit which provides 110 volts at 20 Amperes. Colocation centers will also offer an alternative combination of 208 volts at 30 Ampere for some specific server arrangements. Such a combination is attached to a metered rack power distribution unit which powers approximately 20 C13 type and 4 C19 type sockets.

Overloading an electrical circuit on a rack

Colocation centers provide both managed and unmanaged services. In an unmanaged facility, companies have to ensure that circuit overload does not occur.

Every power distribution unit is fitted with a digital display that provides an ampere reading. Ideally, every rack should be running at an ampere rating which is slightly lower than the maximum threshold. If the maximum load is 30 Ampere, a rack should be consuming about 27 Ampere at the maximum.

Dual Power Racks

Some companies require server configurations that call for dual power. Under such conditions, power to both circuits is routed through different power distribution units. This allows for more redundancy and reliability within the power supply.

An entire colocation facility’s structure is based around redundancy. Redundancy is defined as the ability of an entire system to keep functioning even when some individual units fail to respond. That is why the power distribution of an IT facility is fitted with multiple backup generators. If one or two of the generators fail to work when a power outage occurs, load can be evenly distributed amongst the rest of the units.

Colocation centers are on the frontline of disaster recovery management for majority of the firms. They are a much cheaper alternative as compared to data centers and provide a high level of flexibility.

Author Bio: John Kartz writes articles to inform his readers of the benefits of colocation and disaster recovery. He also informs them to make educated decisions when assessing colocation pricing and recovery providers.

In the world of comic shops there is undoubtedly a ‘big three’ major players. This is somewhat of a ‘holy trinity’ of coffee, that accounts for much of the industry’s business and where most of us will spend a lot of money. The brands in question of course are ‘Starbucks’, ‘Costa’ and ‘Café Nero’, each of which has a number of unique benefits of downsides that wins them their own fans and enemies.

One of the things that all three have in common is some form of rewards scheme to try and keep their customers loyal. These schemes are smart from a business perspective as a way to get repeat business from their customers but each works in a slightly different way and like the coffee itself, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Here we will look at some of the advantages and disadvantages of each system and what you can learn from them as a business.

Café Nero

Café Nero has perhaps the most simple of all three reward systems and is also the place where you will get the most free coffee. At Nero you can pick up a loyalty card at any of the stores when you buy coffee and then get a stamp or two each time you make a purchase. Once you’ve filled up the nine slots you can then get a free coffee of any kind.

The simplicity of this system is first and foremost a huge bonus. This means that anyone can pick up a loyalty card even if they’re in a rush and understand it in a moment. At the same time, these cards benefit from their disposable nature – if someone loses their loyalty card they can just pick up another one and not feel hard done by.

This disposable nature though also makes them very easy to forget about, while the fact that people won’t have a card after their ninth purchase means there’s a small point where that person will have no ‘commitment’ to Nero.

Costa

Costa uses a slightly more conventional points rewards system that uses a card with a magnetic strip. Users can then have their card swiped every time they buy a coffee and get points added to their card that they can spend as they choose. Unfortunately this system is somewhat ‘stingy’ meaning you’ll probably have to drink about 20-30 beverages before you get anything for free – a fact that will cause many customers to become resentful.

While Costa’s system is relatively simple to understand, there is an online aspect for people who want to sign up, which creates new marketing opportunities for Costa and provides extra incentives to the customer.

Starbucks

Starbucks have made something of a mess of their rewards scheme. Recently they had a system that requires users to ‘top up’ their loyalty card by paying money into it, which meant they had to be willing to pay $20 or more for their first coffee and often left them with money ‘stuck’ on their card (though it was useful for giving to people as a gift). This system wasn’t intuitive so Starbucks has since scrapped it but the confusion has led to few people adopting the new format.

So the winner is Nero! How can your business learn from this lesson?

Jack Voltz is a business analyst and an ardent coffee lover. While there are many successful business models, he has listed 3 top coffee chains in this post and their various incentives which has led to their success.

If you have had an accident recently that’s left you incapacitated or cost you money, then the thought of compensation may be one that gives you some comfort. While most of us would of course rather that the accident hadn’t happened in the first place, getting a little financial aid to cover some of the associated costs can be a great way to make things a little more manageable again and to provide something of a silver lining.

Of course though, getting compensation from an organisation is only an option if you think that the accident genuinely happened due to their neglect. If the accident was your own fault then this is not only immoral but may also prove fruitless if you end up losing your court case and spending a lot of money in the process.

Thus it is very important to try and ascertain for certain whether or not an accident was your responsibility before you try to get compensation. Here we will look at some of the ways you can tell whether using an injury lawyer is an option or not.

Accidents That Are Your Fault

An accident that is your fault is any accident that happens purely through your own lack of attention or hurry. If you were running or being careless then the accident will probably have been your fault. At the same time if an accident happened due to an existing condition you have or your own weakness, then this may not be your ‘fault’ as such but nor is it anyone else’s. If you should have fallen over because you had a twinge in your leg for instance then this isn’t something you can seek compensation for.

In other words then, if there is no external factor causing the accident, then it is your fault. Another situation in which you shouldn’t try to get compensation is when you weren’t following guidelines. For instance then falling down the stairs isn’t anyone’s fault but yours if you were jumping down them three at a time or running up them carelessly – though this is a little more contentious as there is a blurry arbitrary line to be drawn here.

When It’s Not Your Fault

An accident is clearly not your fault though if it was caused by the environment when you were behaving normally. If you were walking down the stairs for instance and slipped on a wet patch that wasn’t clearly sign posted, or if you were to sit on a chair which then collapsed, this would be the fault of the business owning the land. Likewise if you were walking through the middle of a restaurant and you bumped into a table that was jutting out into one of the ‘traffic lanes’ then this too might have been the fault of the restaurant owner.

Things like sharp edges in traffic lanes is something that is covered by health and safety so it may even be that the company did not meet health and safety requirements. If you are unsure though, call your personal injury lawyer and they will consult with you on the matter.

Author of this post, Jack Blake is a physiotherapist in Atlanta. He believes in coming up with unique ways to help his patients recover from an accident or injury. He also stresses on the importance of a compensation claim, as it helps in easing the financial requirements which arise after an accident.

Fishing is a lovely hobby and a sport you ought to enjoy whenever you are out in the sea. Deep sea Fishing has always been a favorite of various fishing enthusiast in the World. Miami tops the chart for its fishing competitions and charters, which run all through the year; it’s this south Florida port that has always attracted many.

An enthusiast, hiring a charter for deep sea fishing must check a lot of things before taking off. A fishing License, the area limit for fishing, guides and a local telling you of the dos and Don’ts of the sea should be done on priority. The charter hired must be checked on its working condition and a local sea guide should be taken along if it’s your first deep sea trip.

Being equipped with the tackle and other fishing equipment so that you are able to make a catch is as important as keeping everything essential along. This includes on the boat includes water, meal especially important if you are taking a group along. First aid box, fishing equipment, sunscreen, hat and sunglasses are a must if it’s a day charter. Many first timers do not care about their health and want to enjoy the fishing moment, which may sometimes get worse. Sea sickness is common due to the weather and pressure variations along with dehydration that may happen under direct sunlight.

Ideally, a deep sea fishing plan must be made once you have checked the weather forecast, the direction of the wind along with the behavior of the sea. Your trip can greatly go wrong if you have not considered these before boarding the charter. Those who plan to catch the fish for dinner or concentrate on larger species must take the captains guidance for the best location in the sea. The current season and dominant fish species should also be checked so that you can focus on those and get some good catch.

While most going for Deep sea fishing know the best fishing techniques, if you are new and want to learn its best to experience it on a day’s trip with a fishing guide on the boat.. Be it catching live bait, net a large fish or to concentrate on the currents to catch a snapper, tuna or grouper, you must be quick. Rolling the rod as soon as you get the fish may help you catch two fish species in one go. Also, if you weren’t so lucky enough during the day, check for some nice lucky catches when you are going to reach back to the shore. The larger fish species do follow the smaller ones for food and if you have found one you can actually hook it for your dinner.

Safety measures, the local sea rules and various other universal fishing strategies must be practiced when you are out in the sea. Fishing is definitely fun if you know the right way without hurting the water species. Go ahead with these few guidelines and your deep sea fishing will be a complete Adventure trip.

For the most part, the majority of businesses are very simple to explain and to understand. In most cases creating a business simply means creating a service or a product that can be sold for greater than the amount it cost to supply and then connecting with your market in order to sell a lot and keep the profit.

Of course it’s connecting with that market that’s the crucial part and that will help your business to soar or to flop. You can have the best product or service in the world but without gaining exposure and promoting it in the right ways you won’t get any sales. In fact so critical is this part of a business that it can actually stand on its own. If you can find a way to promote someone else’s product or service and keep a commission or profit then all you need to do is to find a way to bring that offering and those people together.

Printing can help you do this in many ways and so is a crucial for many business models. Here we will look at some of the things you can do with printing to promote your company and increase your profits.

Using Printed Marketing Materials

Printing marketing materials is one of the most cost effective ways that a company can increase their awareness. While getting an advert into a newspaper or a magazine will cost you a fair amount of money, the printing costs alone won’t cost you much and particularly if you can find good digital printing services. Once you have these materials there are then many ways you can use them. For instance you can simply hand out your printed flyers, or you can stick them up in public areas where they will be seen. More effective still, is to carry them so that you can hand them out as a way to promote yourself and your business when networking at events.

Flyers can also be posted through letterboxes which is an effective form of promotion for many businesses, or they can be given away at tradeshows with goodie bags and even packaged in with delivered products to encourage repeat business.

Flyer Businesses

There are many businesses that are based entirely around the use of flyers. A perfect example of this might be to use flyers to promote a business offering commission. For instance, there are many online shops that will offer commission to marketers who send customers their way. Sometimes the marketer will even get commission on every single purchase that customer makes in their lifetime with the site.

An incredibly simple business model then is to create a landing page promoting that site with your own affiliate links, and then to hand out flyers near retail parks and other places where you might be able to find the right demographics. This way your only cost is hosting and the production of those flyers and once you’ve got a few people signed up you can find yourself earning passively for years to come.

Today’s guest post is contributed by David Volt. He is the head of the marketing division of a leading fashion magazine. An astute person, he believes that sometimes the simplest of methods end up paying you rich dividends. An avid blogger, he likes to share his opinions on various blogs.

Owning a computer is a little like keeping a pet. While you might think that you can afford the initial upfront cost of buying a laptop, just like a dog or a cat there are many subsequent expenses that you need to account for and that you may not have taken into consideration. Technology is an expensive hobby but it’s one that can be made cheaper in a number of ways if you’re smart. Here we will look at some of those to make running your PC less costly.

Accessories

The first hidden cost of a PC is the accessories you will no doubt need. Many people these days will choose to buy a laptop rather than a relatively restrictive desktop PC and in that case you will probably want to be able to carry your machine around with you. In order to do that though, you will need to buy not only a laptop case but also a bag to carry it in – immediately setting you back. On top of that you may want speakers for when you use the laptop at home (to replace the tinny built in ones) and you’ll probably need a printer if you want to be able to print out any of your work.

Supplies

The next hidden cost of owning a PC is likely going to be forking out for the supplies. The most costly supplies here relate to the printer which will eat up a whole lot of paper and ink. There are various ways you can do this. One is to buy your ink cartridges and paper up front, thus getting to benefit from bulk discounts and getting cheaper shipping costs. Another is to just shop around for both to make sure you are getting the cheapest deal.

Electricity

You mustn’t underestimate just how much money you’ll spend on actually powering your computer – particularly if you work for yourself during the day or if you’re an avid gamer (and particularly with energy prices constantly going up). There are many ways you can reduce this cost though.

One is just for laptops, which is to make sure that you are using the battery from its charge sometimes. This way you won’t always be relying on mains power. Another is to try and get as much juice from your charge as possible by using the laptop with the screen brightness and volume down low. Whether using a desktop or a laptop, make sure to remove the plug from the socket when you’re not using it as it will still drain power even though the computer isn’t plugged in. Of course you should also turn off when you aren’t using your machine (this goes for lamps and any related tech like printers as well).

Repairs

Just as you will no doubt spend a lot of money taking your pooch to the vet, you’ll also have to spend a lot on computer repairs if you aren’t careful. Use anti-virus software and be careful where you browse ad what you download.

Andy Whittle is a tech expert and has vast knowledge about computers. He has seen landmark changes in computer technology over the years and is specially amazed by the cost reduction. A voracious reader, he reads a lot of tech magazines in his spare time.
