My family and I discovered a great new way of carving pumpkins this year and want to share it with you. Maybe this isn’t a new idea to you… I’ve seen these kits in the store before and passed them by because they looked “cheesey” or “gimmicky” to me. This year we decided to give it a try.

We purchased our kits at Walmart for $4 each. I believe Michael’s carries the same kit. The kit contains 12 cool, spooky designs and 6 tools. Tools include: A short serrated blade, a longer serrated blade, a wedge/sculpting tool, a poker/drill tool, a flat edged scraper and a pounce tool for transferring the design to the pumpkin. Recommended for ages 12 and up.

My 12 year old son found the tools very easy to use on the flaming pumpkin design that he chose. My 14 year old daughter chose to make her own design but used the tools in the kit.

The knives are somewhat flexible which some may see as a drawback, thinking it flimsy; but to others it is an advantage, making it easier to form curved cuts. In any case, we did not have any trouble with the blades breaking.

The flat edged scraper worked much better than a spoon for cleaning out the interior of the pumpkins.The designs are quite intricate but easy to accomplish with the patterns and instructions provided in the kit.

We were all quite happy with our carved pumpkins, obtaining results as seen on the package cover.

Rather than being cheesey as I originally thought, we decided they were worth keeping around for next season. We were so impressed with our kits we recommended them to the grandparents for their upcoming Halloween party.

I came across another blog that is offering a linkback if you give an honest review of their blog. The unique thing about John’s blog is that he is trying to use this offer to end up as the number spot in google for a particular search phrase. He will give you a linkback with the anchor text of your choice as well by doing the same for his blog. I like that idea so I decided to participate.

Here is my review of John Chow’s blog:

Make money online is what I will call this project. John’s idea was that he could get ranked number one on google with the search phrase of “Make Money Online“, by getting people to review his site and use that term as the anchor text. Anchor text is the text that is used for the link itself. So when you click on that term in this review, it will take you straight to his site. I am going to try my luck with the term “online product reviews“.

I went ahead and spent quite a bit of time reading through John’s blog. I also signed up to his feed and get his ebook. I can’t begin to explain the wealth of knowledge on this blog. I will be spending the next few days reading through as much as possible to learn as much as I can.

John also takes the time to write blog entries of all kinds of different products as well. Not only are you getting quality information on how to profit from your blog, but you also get to see honest opinions of products that he has come across as well.

So far, I give Johns blog a 9/10. The only problem I have with it at all at this point is that there are too many advertisements. It gives me a feeling that resembles claustrophobia. The content is great. The layout, other than the aforementioned issue, is great. Text is clear. Writing is well done.

After reading this blog post I decided that I would give my honest opinion in the form of a review of my own. I went head and searched through Justin’s blog and read numerous articles. Some I liked alot and some I didnt really care much for. I really liked the Red Bull post because I am a fan of Red Bull myself. The ones I didnt care too much for were the ones talking about writing more. There were a few of those The layout of the site is very comfortable and navigation is easy. The color scheme is very easy to read and flows nicely. All in all, I liked Justin’s blog and decided to subscribe for future updates.  The only problem I see with this blog is that the content seems to have slowed down alot since the last update. Im looking forward to reading some updates and seeing the future progression of this blog.
