Business man, 50 Cent makes a smooth transition from rapping to acting and hits “The View” discussing the darker role his character plays in movie “Twelve”. Despite having a history of drug dealing, 50 admitted the role was more serious than what he experienced:

"It’s a totally different experience for me because I’ve been away from that for a very long time," 50 Cent said in an interview on "The View." "In this actual project, the character’s actually darker. I’ve never done anything with those motivations. There’s a scene in the actual film where he’s excited to trade the drugs for a woman’s virginity. That’s darker than anything I’ve experienced…Well, I mean just my motivation. I didn’t come there to actually hurt anyone. It was just what the environment provided for me without any requirements…Like they don’t say, ‘You need a master’s [degree] to be a drug dealer.’ Everyone’s eligible. You have two hands [and] two feet… Run, the cops are coming." (The Boom Box)

"It’s an interesting role. The dynamics of the role are extreme. I play a drug dealer who’s from Harlem, who doesn’t actually have any support. The bill passed in March, after over a century old, law makers approved, by voice note with expectancy of President, Barack Obama’s signature.

The Fair Sentencing Act of 2010, which aims to significantly reduce the differences in sentencing between crack and powdered cocaine convictions. As of now, someone convicted of crack cocaine possession gets the same length of sentence as someone with 100 times the amount of powder cocaine possession, resulting in an enormous racial disparity in sentencing.

Under current law, the bill also eliminates the five-year mandatory minimum for first-time possession of crack:

For Congress to take a step toward saying ‘we have made a mistake’ and this sentence is too severe … is really remarkable,” said Virginia Sloan, president of the Constitution Project. The group in studies of sentencing practices has referred to crack cocaine mandates as a “‘poster child’ for the injustices of mandatory sentencing. (CBS)

The bill would raise the minimum quantity of crack-cocaine required to trigger a five-year sentence to 28 grams from five grams, potentially shortening prison time for thousands of defendants sentenced each year.

All Real Talk: Andre “Dr. Dre” Young will reside in court for over a $1 Million dollar lawsuit filed, according to complaint:

Controversial rapper Dr. Dre is being sued by Paramount Recording Studios for $1,220, 500 for breach of contract,RadarOnline.com learned on Friday. The lawsuit claims that the musician, also known as Andre Young, and his record label Aftermath Entertainment rented "recording studios and services" but failed to pay the agreed amount despite multiple invoices. According to court documents, Dr. Dre promised to pay the money owed by July 13. When the date passed, music powerhouse Paramount Recording Studios took legal action in an attempt to get their huge bill paid. (Radar Online)

After a decade of recognition in the music entertainment business, I’m not understanding why Dr, Dre would be renting a studio? Agreeing to settle the bill with Paramount Recording Studios by July 13th, he failed to do so:

Dr. Dre has recorded at Paramount for at least ten years, allowing him to receive a cheaper rate for recording at the studio. According to the lawsuit, Dr. Dre and his record label Aftermath Entertainment allegedly rented the recording studio from April 2009 until June of 2010. Paramount claims that they were never paid for the dates in question. (AllHipHop)

Author Notes: Documenting your studio time usually is an important factor for the Artist and or producer with little or no budget. Most new comers don’t realize after signing deal whether their studio time is considered a free flow or an open tab. Many record labels accumulate artists time openly until they have reached a certain disaster point along their career… then it’s time to pay up. Never the less it is important to accurately document all studio sessions to lower risks of being burned.
