Well, here we go. It’s time to start ranking the best players in the ACC for the 2026 season.

As usual, we hope you enjoy the rankings.

Previous and Upcoming Rankings

Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Wide Receivers | Offensive Linemen | Tight Ends | Defensive Linemen | Cornerbacks | Safeties | Special Teams

1) Sammy Brown, Clemson

Now this is what we’re used to seeing: Clemson with a top player in the ACC at a particular position. Clemson linebacker Sammy Brown is the ACC’s top linebacker and one of the best linebackers in the country. Last year, he had a season that saw him on multiple All-ACC teams. Brown had 107 tackles with 13.5 tackles for loss, and he’s been selected to multiple pre-season All-American teams. He’s a former 5-star recruit who could go in the 1st round, and some think he could be a future NFL Pro Bowl Player.

2) Matt Rose, Stanford

Stanford didn’t have a tremendous amount of talent last year, but linebacker Matt Rose was a shining star on the defense. He had over 100 tackles in an All-ACC caliber season. He is known as a relentless player on defense and a day 3 draftable NFL prospect who’s looking to move up. The Cardinals have a good one.

3) Kam Robinson,Virginia

Virginia’s resurgent season was certainly helped by having one of the best linebackers in the ACC in Kam Robinson. In 2025, he was a 3 time ACC linebacker of the week and Butkus Award Semi-Finalist. Even with a season-ending injury after 8 games, he still made 3rd team All-ACC. If he recovers fully from his ACL injury, he’s a day 2 NFL possibility, with first team All-ACC potential.

4) Braylen Lovelace, Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh has produced some quality linebackers in recent years, and Braylen Lovelace is another one. Lovelace had a All-ACC Honorable mention season in 2025 with over 80 tackles. He now becomes the anchor of the Pitt linebacking crew and looks to follow a slew of recent Pitt defenders to the NFL.

5) Mohamed Toure, Miami

Miami’s Mohamed Toure won’t lack for experience as he returns for his 8th season of eligibility. Toure was Miami’s leading tackler last year with 84, and played some of his football season during Miami’s playoff run to the national title game. He’s been good for a long time. He was an All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2025 and All-Big in 2023 when he was at Rutgers.

We are still in the middle list time here in the off-season of College Football.

@AndyStaples ranked the football coaches of the ACC for 2026.

No surprise, Miami’s Mario Cristobal has taken over the top spot as the Hurricanes have become the ACC’s premier football program. That happens when you come within a play of winning the national title, finishing as the #2 team in the country, and turning SEC football into your personal play toys, going 4-0 over the last 2 years against teams from that league.

After that, it gets debatable. Virginia Tech James Franklin jumps ahead of Dabo Swinney and his 2 national titles at #2 without coaching a game in the ACC.

Tony Elliot at #8 after an 11-win season seems low.

Brent Key also seems low at #9, but I’m not sure who in the top 8 I’d rank below him. More consistent and bigger winners are ahead of him.

Mike Norvell at 12 seems like a gift since FSU has been the ACC’s worst program over the last 2 years, despite some earlier success at Florida State.

We’ll do a set of rankings later this summer. Let’s see if it matches up with Staples.

Caden Glauber put together the kind of performance that you need to have a shot at a national title for North Carolina in their 6-2 win over Oklahoma Sunday. Monday at 8 PM on ESPN, we have UNC and Oklahoma playing in a winner-take-all Game 3.

The ACC, despite being the 2nd best baseball league this season, and arguably the majority of the last 40 or 50 years, has had just 1 team win a title, Virginia in 2015. Before that, it was Wake Forest in 1955.

If UNC wins, it would be a historic win for the Tar Heels and their fans.

Well, here we go. It’s time to start ranking the best players in the ACC for the 2026 season.

As usual, we hope you enjoy the rankings.

Previous and Upcoming Rankings

Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Wide Receivers | Offensive Linemen | Tight Ends | Linebackers | Cornerbacks | Safeties | Special Teams

1) Clev Lubin, Louisville

Louisville quietly has some of the best talent in the ACC on both sides of the ball. Now we have the Cardinals with the best defensive lineman in the league in Clev Lubin. Lubin goes into 2026 with All-American buzz. Last season, he had 8.5 sacks with over 50 tackles coming off the edge for Louisville. He’s considered a mid to late 1st round NFL talent.

2) Ahmad Moten Jr. , Miami

Miami featured some of the best defensive line talent in the nation last year. I would expect some drop off, but with players like Ahmad Moten Jr. returning it may not be much. The 6-3 325 LB interior lineman is just a wall inside, as last year he just missed being All-ACC 1st team. Some NFL Draft projections have him going among the top 15 players in the 1st round.

4) Will Heldt, Clemson

If Dabo Swinney could find more Will Heldt, he’s hit the transfer portal harder. Heldt was a pickup last year out of Purdue that arguably turned into Clemson’s best, most consistent performing defensive lineman in 2025. Last year, he had nearly 50 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks. He’ll be looked upon this year to be the anchor of the Clemson defense as he heads towards a 1st or 2nd round draft grade.

4) Melkart Abou Jaoude, UNC

UNC, despite its record last year, has some talented players. Melkart Abou Jaoude was one of them. He was a 2nd-team All-ACC player in 2025. Jaoude had 10.5 sacks last year to go along with 47 tackles. He’s been a productive defensive lineman his entire career, and is drawing mid to late round NFL interest as he tries to move up with a big 2026.

5) Kemari Copeland, Virginia Tech

James Franklin is having to upgrade the talent at Virginia Tech, but he does inherit some quality players. Franklin is feeling good that Kemari Copeland, a holdover from the previous staff, is returning. The 3rd team All-ACC player had 48 tackles with 7.5 tackles for loss in 2025. He’s considered one of Virginia Tech’s most draftable players.

Well, here we go. It’s time to start ranking the best players in the ACC for the 2026 season.

As usual, we hope you enjoy the rankings.

Previous and Upcoming Rankings

Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Wide Receivers | Offensive Linemen | Defensive Linemen | Linebackers | Cornerbacks | Safeties | Special Teams

1) Jeremiah Hasley, Duke

Jeremiah Hasley had a huge 2025 in an honorable mention All-ACC season. He had 40 catches for 454 yards and 6 TDs. PFF has him as one of the 5 best returning Tight Ends in the country. The 6-3 245 lbs prospect is projected as a round 3 or round 4 NFL pick. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hasley gets some All-American votes this year.

2) Luke Reynolds, Virginia Tech

As James Franklin works to overhaul the talent base at Virginia Tech, he’s bringing some of the better players from his most recent Penn State. TE Luke Reynolds in one of those players. Reynolds is coming off a season that saw him have 26 receptions for 257 yards. He was one of the highest rated Tight Ends coming out of high school, and is an adept blocker to go along with his pass-catching skills. He’ll be an NFL pro and could go as high as the 3rd round.

3) Kaelan Chudzinksi, Boston College

Kaelan Chudsinksi had a very impressive freshman season at Boston College. He made a number of freshman All-American after a season where he had 24 catches for 313 yards. Those are the most of any freshman in the country. Boston College was really bad last year, but don’t blame Chudzinkski.

4) Dorian Thomas, California

California might have the best tight end group in the ACC. Mason Mini had 35 receptions for nearly 400, and just missed this list. The probable starter Dorian Thomas was a top 10 Tight End in the transfer portal and was an All-Mountain West selection at New Mexico in a season where he had 56 receptions and 560 yards receiving.

5) Brody Foley, Louisville

Louisville also picked up one of the top Tight End transfer portal targets in Brody Foley. Foley was an All-AAC selection at Tulsa in 2025, where he had 37 catches for 528 yards and 9 Total TDs. His 6-6 frame will provide a huge target in Louisville’s passing offense.

In a post-season where the ACC fell flat, one ACC baseball team has stood tall, and continues to stand tall – the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Tar Heels pitching was very good all year. At times it was elite, but it’s gone into overdrive in the post-season. In the last 4 games against NCAA tournament opponents, USC. Ole Miss, and West Virginia – the Tar Heels have given up 0, 3, 2, and 2 runs. That’s sterling 1.75 runs per game.

So what’s next for UNC? They are just 1 win away from the national championship series.
