ACC Prescription looks at the revenue distribution for each school around the country, including the ACC. The ACC is closer to the Big 10 than the Big 12 average is to the ACC.

Late April to early May is usually the time to start thinking about the college football season. We’re a little early to start a player analysis, but it’s time for a deep dive into the schedule. We’re looking especially at the out-of-conference here. We‘ll also be looking at the in-ACC conference games shortly after.

Games 1 – 5 | Games 11 – 15 |

6) Louisville vs Ole Miss  –  September 6, 2026

Louisville gets an Ole Miss team coming off a semi-final run in the college football playoffs. Lane Kiffin is going, but this is a strong opener for Louisville. If the Cards can win, it could be the kind of early-season win jump starts a season. Louisville has proven time and time again that they can play with anyone. This is another statement game for the Cardinals.

7) SMU vs Notre Dame  – November 21, 2026

SMU has quickly become one of the better football programs in the ACC.  Rhett Lashlee can coach with anyone in the country, and Kevin Jennings is back at QB. A game with what should be a very good Notre Dame team will have college football fans’ attention everywhere. If the game were at SMU, I’d be tempted to call an upset. Still, this is a major opportunity for SMU.

8) California vs UCLA  –  September 5, 2026

I love this game between Cal and UCLA. This rivalry was a casualty of more expansion, but credit both schools for bringing it back the next 4 years. Emerging Cal QB star Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele is back for the Bears, and this could be his national coming-out party against a Big 10 opponent. This is one of the more underrated OOC games for an ACC team this year. Mark this one down.

9 ) Florida State vs Florida –  November 27, 2026

Florida State and Florida will always be a big game, but last year featured two bad teams. The year before was slightly better. For this rivalry to be all it can be nationally, they need to be better. That said, it’s one of, if not the most heated OOC rivalries for an ACC team. This game is on Black Friday which is typically a huge ratings day. Mike Norvell may want to avoid his 3rd striaght loss to the Gators.

10) NC State vs Vanderbilt – September 19, 2026

NC State has always been consistently decent under Dane Doeren. They are never great, but rarely awful. They just can’t get over the hump to take that next step to be a true ACC contender or a 10-win type season. What always seems to be lacking is a quality OOC win. Vanderbilt has established as a credible SEC team. Even without Diego Pavia, this would be a big early season if the Wolfpack can get it.

Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.

North Carolina doesn’t really have a choice anymore – it’s time for the Tar Heels Athletic Director to fire Bill Belichick.  He is a complete embarrassment to North Carolina, the ACC, and college football.

We’ve talked about how tone deaf Bill Belichick really is.

We advocated for Bill Belichick to be fired last season.

Now comes the news that North Carolina really has doesn’t have institutional control over its football program.

Check this out:

A University of North Carolina football player has been cited at least four times for speeding, including two reckless driving charges, since arriving on campus in January.

Another player has been cited three times — including once on allegations of driving over 100 mph — since February. And his car has been photographed in on-campus parking spots marked for people with disabilities.

They’re among at least five transfers or key players that UNC highlighted as having re-signed with the program who have been cited for speeding since January — which comes just months after coach Bill Belichick said he had addressed off-the-field issues and players and parents complained about the program’s culture in Belichick’s first season.

Also, Bill Belichick has 40 new players this year.  That’s insane.  Who has to bring in 40 new players in a 2nd year when you supposedly had retooled the roster during the prior year?  That tells me that all his players hate his guts.

But here’s the deal:  The North Carolina administration now has an out – they can fire Bill Belichick tomorrow basically over the lack of control over his football team.  If his players are driving aggressively on campus – get tickets – and parking in handicapped spots – they can fire him tomorrow.  I would argue if enough of this piles up – they also don’t have to pay the buyout.   North Carolina just has to track enough of this misconduct – and Bill Belichick  is out without a dime.  If you want to be nice, offer Bill Belichick a one million dollar buyout.  Get the attorneys involved early.

11) Clemson vs South Carolina  –  November 28, 2026

Clemson had its worst season in over a decade last year. South Carolina only won 4 games. This game has definitely lost some luster, but it is still one of the bigger ACC/SEC matchups of the year. Clemson hasn’t beaten South Carolina at home since 2018. This one is all about Palmetto state bragging rights.

12) Virginia vs West Virginia  – September 19, 2026

I really like this regional matchup between Virginia and West Virginia. Virginia is coming off an 11 season and is looking to continue to build on that. West Virginia is a natural fit as an opponent here. This is a neutral-site game in Charlotte, NC, and it should be a pretty lively atmosphere.

13) Virginia Tech vs Maryland  –  September 19, 2026

A kind of sort of classic ACC matchup…  Maryland is coming off two 4-8 seasons, and Virginia Tech is coming off its own losing season. This will be James Franklin’s first P4 game at Virginia Tech. We are going to find out quickly how fast Franklin can turn Virginia Tech around. There is a lot of intrigue to this game.

14 ) Georgia Tech vs Colorado –  September 3, 2026

Georgia Tech opened last season with a thrilling last-minute win at Colorado that propelled them to an 8-0 Top 10 start to the season. This time, the Jackets get the Buffs and Deion Sanders at home on a Thursday night. We’ll see if this year’s game is as exciting as the 2025 version. Colorado shouldn’t be too good, so Georgia Tech better not open the season with a loss to them.

15) North Carolina vs TCU – August 29, 2026

UNC vs TCU last year was a complete disaster for the Tar Heels on national TV as TCU blew out UNC. There is a curiosity to this one in how Bill Belichick and staff will have the Tar Heels looking this year. A loss before September will have UNC fans restless. Typically, the Ireland games are competitive; we’ll see if this one is.
