· One year of experience in Customer Service or Sales preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To compile, processes and maintains records of patients in a way that is consistent to the requirements of health care systems. To understand and comply with the ethical, administrative, legal and regulatory requirements of medical record keeping.

· Efficiently utilizes the Medical Center’s medical record patient index, chart tracking, and other computerized department products that are used in the performance of all assigned duties.

· Locates, retrieves, provides, and files medical records as required. May utilize computerized filing and tracking systems.

· Answers phones on a multi-line phone system and assists with request, using interpersonal skills effectively to build and maintain cooperative working relationships.

· May perform authorizations and suitability verifications.

· Organizes and files medical record documents using established systems.

· Receives, routes, copies, faxes, and affidavits for request of patient information, addressing necessary information upon receipt, and ensuring documentation is recorded and logged.

· Ensures compliance with patient privacy.

· Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the department concerning patient confidentiality and record location.

· Performs other related duties or projects as requested by department management.

REQUIREMENTS

· High School diploma or equivalent.

What is Competitive Bidding?
Competitive bidding is a Medicare program that limits the number of care providers of home medical equipment and services. Under Competitive Bidding, DME (Durable Medical Equipment) suppliers must

"compete to become Medicare contract suppliers by submitting bids to furnish certain items in competitive bidding areas [...]"

How does this affect me/my family?
Under competitive bidding, your selection of home medical equipment suppliers is greatly limited. Medicare patients can only receive their home delivery supplies by approved Competitive Bidding Area providers. Patients under Competitive Bidding Areas are required to obtain their home medical equipment and supplies from a company that the government selects.

Please note, All-States Medical Supply is an approved Competitive Bidding Area provider in all areas of the United States.

In the wake of September 11th many businesses in the area were not hiring. Marcus’ background in International Business and Information Technology was simply not a fit for the business environment. Carolyn was still at the University of South Florida studying to be a nurse. According to national economic indicators, healthcare was - and continues to be - one of the fastest growing industries in Florida. Under suggestion by Marcus’ father, the Suess family began exploring the possibility of becoming entrepreneurs and starting their own business in the healthcare industry.
