With Labor Day behind us, we all know that cool weather is right around the corner. I'm sure I'll regret saying this come January, but I'm already looking forward to chillier temps. Crisp air means fall fashion, which just happens to be my MOST favorite.

My all-time favorite clothing brand, Emerson Fry, released their Fall-Winter '14 Preview the other week, and my jaw has been on the floor ever since. Every item is perfectly tailored for a polished look, yet continues to convey an effortless vibe. Chic and comfortable. These are understated pieces that will get you noticed for all the right reasons.

Yeah. It's true love.

Hey gang!

I hope you all have big plans for the long weekend. This is my first weekend off in what feels like forever and a day. I have college friends coming to stay with me and cheer on the Bulldawgs at our season opener against Clemson. I just had to put together some bright, cheery wildflowers to celebrate the occassion :).

I'm also predicting a low country boil and some brunching over the next few days... and I'm not mad about it.

True story -- I had an entire post ready to publish this morning, but decided to delete it at the last minute.

Why? Well, I basically complained for 5 paragraphs. Here's an excerpt, below:

"It's been one of those weeks. The house is covered in boxes and pet hair, we've eaten crap at every meal, and I've officially crossed the "dang girl, you need a shower" threshold. I haven't been able to think of much to share on the blog this week either. How can I post about beauty or style when I've worn a different pair of Nike shorts every day this week and my beauty routine has consisted of deodorant and a hair tie?

Making myself feel guilty for not having it all together does have to stop, though.

For you perfect people that can give yourself a salon worthy blow-out at home, close big business deals all day long, update your blog with a beautiful daily post, tend to your organic vegetable garden, workout, AND have a beautiful, wholesome meal on the dinner table every night?

I might have to skip your social media posts for a while, because I just can't with you right now."

Man, oh man. Bitter, party of one?

Of course, in moments of self-doubt, insecurity, or just mental exhaustion in general, The Everygirl always manages to publish an article that seems to perfectly encompass my feelings and help me understand how to overcome them*. This time was no exception.

In all aspects of design -- fashion, interiors, etc -- I always find that the best looks strike a balance between femininity and masculinity. Distressed jeans and heels, floral dress with a leather moto jacket, tartan and tulle -- it's a tried and true recipe that just works.

While this outfit leans a little more heavily on the masculine side with slouchy denim and Chuck Taylors, the silky blouse and dainty clutch help add a touch of ladylike class.

Let me tell y'all -- I couldn't live without my Chucks. I have plans of purchasing a white pair pretty soon.

The classic white version goes with everything and will make my legs look tan (maybe? just go with it).

I'm also on the hunt for the perfect leather moto jacket that doesn't make me look like Danny Zuko.

This simple version from Madewell is the current front runner...

Today's installment of Floral Friday is a sneak peak from an event I recently did with Tailor & Table at Boone Hall Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. The event will be covered on one of my favorite wedding blogs, so I have to keep the rest of the photos on lock down until publication day ... but I couldn't help but share one teaser! Patience is not one of my virtues :).

It'll be a quiet, but busy, weekend around here. I don't have any events, but I do have a few office tasks that need to be completed. And don't even get me started on how desperately my house needs to be cleaned.

So my goals for the weekend are:

1. Be super productive

2. Not change out of my pajamas

Sounds like a plan to me!

Just a Small Town Girl

I might be a city girl through and through, but there's something a tiny bit magical about small town, USA. Levi and I have spent the past few days in itty-bitty Mifflintown, Pennsylvania where my mom spent her childhood. Mifflintown is best described in a story. I can remember visiting my grandparents as a girl and not having a Blockbuster nearby for videos and games to keep us occupied... so my grandmother and I marched over to the Amish farm down the street and "rented" a barn kitten to play with during my visit!

So Mifflintown is less video games, more Amish kittens. Ya dig?

On Saturday, I returned to Mifflintown for the first time in probably 15 years.

I went back to celebrate the life of my Poppop.

His wife of 57 years, 6 kids, 6 sons and daughters in law, and 15 grandchildren came to celebrate too.

While the reason for our trip was sad, I have to admit that I was overjoyed to be there.

Sure, we cried. But we laughed too. We laughed A LOT.

We played a lot of tag football.

We ate a lot of fresh cream-filled donuts baked from scratch by the Mennonite woman down the street.

We told a lot of stories.

We shared a lot of bad jokes.*

We saw how much a small town loved my Poppop and his family.

For better or worse, there's not much else to do when visiting Mifflintown except spend time with the ones you love. So that's what we did. For three days, we lived the simple life.

They might be on to something, y'all.

While I don't think I'll be leaving the city in favor of the country anytime soon, I definitely think I need to schedule in some quiet visits more often. It's just so good for the soul.

I also need more of those fresh cream-filled donuts, stat.

During the summer, I can't think of anything I want to wear more than a maxi dress. In addition to being breezy, they are just too easy. Wearing one requires little to no thought -- throw on a maxi, grab your shades, hit the road. Boom -- effortless glamour.

This BB Dakota maxi even gets bonus points for:

1. Being really soft

2. It's extra long (great for tall girls!)

3. It's blue + white -- only the most chic and classic of all summer color combinations!

The (amazing) Angie of Suburbanite Photography and I had a great time together with this shoot!

We must have looked like we were an epic amount of fun, because this random man couldn't help but want to join our party.

Since Tailor & Table launched last fall, we've been lucky enough to book some ah-mazing clients (seriously, I want them all to be my BFFs). The tricky thing about events is that clients tend to book their designers waaaayyy in advance (which, for the record, I totally recommend). This especially rings true with weddings, which most of 2014's events happen to be!

Since last October, we've been meeting, planning, placing orders, and designing every last detail for our lovely clients day in and day out. While it's been fun, T&T has been anxiously counting down the days until our events actually started happening. Folks, the waiting has finally come to an end and I, for one, could not be happier about it (patience is not one of my virtues).

THIS WEEK IS THE WEEK!

Things are a-happenin' around here!

We have two events this week. Go big or go home, amiright?

First, we're hitting the road for the SOLD OUT NotWedding Charleston.

From Charleston, we'll head to Atlanta to give the sweetest couple a classically stunning wedding. Think marble and lace and gold candelabras, OH MY.

I thought I was excited when we launched T&T. Then I reached a new high when we booked our first client.

But neither of those times really compare to the way I'm feeling today.

I'm anxious, excited, thankful, and so proud.

But mostly, I feel happiness. The kind of happiness that starts at your toes and travels up to flush your cheeks and plant a smile on your face. I've had good days and bad days as a entrepreneur, but I think these are going to be the best of the best. I can't wait to see where the next week take us.
