The International Federation of Young Citizens (IFYC) announces the official launch of AGORA , an innovative monthly radio program dedicated to international news, civic engagement and intercultural dialogue.

Broadcast on shortwave by Radio For Peace International (15770 kHz, every 3rd Sunday of the month from 1pm to 2pm UTC), AGORA is part of a strong initiative: to make the voices of the world's youth heard while actively contributing to a culture of peace and understanding between peoples.

Through this partnership, Radio For Peace International affirms its commitment to open, accessible and peace-oriented information , by supporting a youth-led initiative aimed at bringing civil societies closer together internationally.

A global space for free and engaged expression Each month, AGORA gives a voice to engaged young people from all continents. Far from dominant media narratives, they share their local realities and initiatives.

The ambition is clear: to circulate authentic testimonies, create bridges between cultures and encourage constructive dialogue between citizens and institutions.

As Gaëtan Guerin, head of the Radio department at FIJC, points out: "AGORA is first and foremost a collective adventure, where everyone grows thanks to others and where ideas circulate to bring forth a

richer discourse."

With AGORA, the FIJC affirms its commitment to building an international media outlet by and for young people, capable of bringing together different perspectives and fostering a global and inclusive public debate.

A strong editorial line

The name AGORA, inspired by ancient Greece, embodies a place of debate, exchange and living democracy. This choice reflects the core values upheld by the FIJC:

A structured, bilingual and international program

Lasting one hour, AGORA consists of two parts:

a first part in French

a second part in English, produced in partnership with Radio For Peace International , in order to broaden its global audience.

AGORA is produced by the Radio department of the FIJC. The program is produced by a team of students from the Lille School of Journalism (ESJ Lille), from different levels of training, from second year to master's level.

The recordings take place in the studios of Radio Campus Lille, a key partner in the project, which supports the show in its production and broadcasting.

In a significant development: RFPI has announced the launch of a new broadcast frequency for Iran.

Programs will now also be available on 9330 kHz, every day from 1700 - 1730 UTC, with a power of 100 kW.

Behind this technical announcement lies a crucial issue: enabling thousands of people to access free and independent information.

In a country where access to information is restricted, each broadcast we air is much more than a radio program. It's an open window, a link to the world, an opportunity to understand, to reflect, to remain free.

According to "Xiaolin Broadcasting Station" (https://kbysradio.wordpress.com/2026/03/22/), some Chinese DXer reported that Mongolian Radio have been testing on 12085kHz since last week, everyday at around 01:00-01:35UT, with Japanese program of Voice of Mongolia, or Domestic MR3 (on 100.9MHz at Ulaan Baatar), or unmodulated carrier.

I myself confirmed in Tokyo on March 23, with unmodulated carrier only.

Kenneth Bae, a Korean-American missionary who was detained in North Korea for two years, has opened a broadcasting station.

He is active as a North Korean human rights activist in South Korea. Therefore, his studio is located in Seoul.

Radio For Peace International launches a daily program in Farsi for the people of Iran

In a context marked by regional tensions and conflicts that disrupt the flow of information in the Middle East, Radio For Peace International (RFPI) announces the launch of a daily program in Farsi language for the Iranian people , broadcast on shortwave.

The war in the region, combined with restrictions imposed on the media and regular internet disruptions, severely limits Iranian citizens' access to independent and verified information. In response to this situation, RFPI is strengthening its commitment by offering a program designed specifically for Iranian listeners , providing them with direct access to international news and independent analysis.

Since 2019, RFPI has been developing programs dedicated to human rights, press freedom, and access to reliable information , aimed at populations living in crisis zones or facing censorship. Shortwave broadcasting allows them to reach listeners even when internet access is restricted or when international media are blocked.

A daily broadcast to Iran

The program is broadcast daily from 05:00 to 05:30 UTC on the frequency 15640 kHz towards Iran.

Lasting 30 minutes, the program is structured to offer clear, accessible and useful content to listeners:

- 2-minute introduction presenting the themes of the show

- 8 minutes of verified news on Iran and the international situation

- 8 minutes of political analysis and a direct message to Iranian listeners

- 5-minute educational module , offering civic and practical content

- 5 minutes of music celebrating culture and artistic diversity

- 2-minute conclusion

This format aims to combine information, analysis and educational content , in order to provide Iranian listeners with reliable reference points in an unstable regional context.

Shortwave radio: a direct link with the population

In areas marked by conflict and media restrictions, shortwave radio remains one of the few means of broadcasting capable of crossing borders and bypassing technical barriers.

"In times of war or high political tension, access to information quickly becomes limited. Shortwave radio makes it possible to maintain a direct link with the population and to continue to broadcast independent information," explains the RFPI team.

Informing and supporting the right to information

RFPI's programs are produced by an international team of journalists committed to freedom of information and media pluralism .

With this new daily Farsi broadcast, the radio station intends to speak directly to the Iranian people and help maintain access to independent information despite the war, censorship, and restrictions on the media space.

The NASWA SWL Fest is a conference of radio hobbyists of all stripes, from DC to daylight. Historically, every year scores of hobbyists have descended on the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania suburbs for a weekend of camaraderie. The Fest is sponsored by NASWA, the North American Shortwave Association, but it covers much more than just shortwave; mediumwave (AM), scanning, satellite TV, and pirate broadcasting are among the other topics that the Fest covers. Whether you've been to every Fest (all 38, starting with the first year at the fabled Pink & Purple Room of the Fiesta Motor Inn) or this year's will be your first, you're sure to find a welcome from your fellow hobbyists, even if it's a "virtual" welcome!.

The 39th Annual (!) NASWA SWL Fest will have two days of sessions where you can learn about the latest developments in the radio listening hobbies. In addition, there's the Hospitality Suite, where attendees partake of tuning oil and other treats and engage in spirited conversations. And of course, the infamous midnight ride of Pancho Villa that traditionally closes things out every year is likely to make a return appearance.

The 2026 Fest will be the third in-person event since 2020 and the CoVID-19 Pandemic, and it will again be limited to 65 in-person participants due to meeting space considerations. However, we also offer the option of participating via Zoom, as we have the past four years.
