The police believed it was suicide. The grief-stricken parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the city morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him, but to their horror they also discovered something they didn't know, their son had only one arm and one leg.

On the last day before Christmas, I hurried to go to the supermarket to buy the remaining of the gift I didn't
Manage to buy earlier. When I saw all the people there, I started to complain to myself," It is going to take forever here and I still have so Many other places to go. Christmas really is getting more and more annoying every year. How I wish I could just lie down, go to sleep and only wake Up after it..."

Nonetheless, I made my way to the toy section, and There I started to curse the prices, wondering if after all kids really
Play with such expensive toys. While looking in the toy section, I noticed a small Boy of about 5 years old, pressing a doll against his chest. He kept on touching the hair of the doll and looked so sad. I wondered who this doll was for.

Then the little boy Turned to the old woman next to him, " Granny, are you sure I don't have enough money?"
The old lady replied, “You know that you don't have enough money to buy this doll, my dear." Then she asked him to stay here for 5 minutes while she went to look around. She left quickly.

The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. Finally, I started to walk toward him and I asked him
whom did he want to give this doll too. “It is the doll that my sister loved most and wanted So much for this Christmas. She was so sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her." I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus would bring it
to her, after all, and not to worry.

But he replied to me sadly. “No, Santa Claus can not bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my
Mother so that she can give it to her when she goes there." His eyes were so sad while saying this. “My sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says That Mummy will also go to see God very soon, so I thought that she could bring the doll with her to give it to my sister."

My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said, “I told daddy to tell mummy not to go yet. I asked him
to wait until I come back from the supermarket. “

Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me, “I also want mummy to take this photo with her so that she will not forget me." I love my mummy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister."

Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly. I quickly reached for my wallet and took a few notes And said to the boy, "What if we checked again, just in case if you Have enough money?"

" Ok," he said. “I hope that I have enough."

I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll, and even
some spare money. The little boy said, “Thank you God for giving me enough money."

Then he looked at me and added, “I asked yesterday before I slept for God to make sure I have enough money to buy this doll so that mummy can give it to my sister. He heard me." “I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mummy, but I didn't dare to ask God too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and the white rose."

“You know, my mummy loves white rose." A few minutes later, the old lady came again and I left with my trolley. I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my Mind.

Then I remembered a local newspaper article 2 days Ago, which mentioned of a drunken man in a truck who hit a car
where there was one young lady and a little girl. The little girl died Right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-assisting machine, because the young lady would not be able to get out of the coma. Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the newspaper that the young lady had passed away.
I couldn't stop myself and went to buy a bunch of White roses and I went to the mortuary where the body of the young
Woman was exposed for people to see and make last wish before burial.

She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her Hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her Chest.

I left the place crying, feeling that my life had been changed forever. The love that this little boy had for his
Mother and his sister is still, to that day, hard to imagine. And in A fraction of a second, a drunken man had taken all this away from him.

Our Parents

Pencil: I'm sorry....

Eraser: For what?
SON: 'Mummy, may I ask you a question?'

MUM: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the woman.

SON: 'Mummy, how much do you make an hour?'

MUM: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the woman said angrily.
SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'

MUM: 'If you must know, I make Rs. 50 an hour.'

SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.

SON: 'Mummy, may I please borrow Rs.25?'

The mother was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish.

I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.'

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door..

The woman sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the woman had calmed down , and started to think:

Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that Rs.25.00 and she really didn't ask for money very often. The woman went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

'Are you asleep, son?' She asked.

'No Mummy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.

'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the woman. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the Rs.25 you asked for.'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you Mummy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.

The woman saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his mother.

'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the mother grumbled.

'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.

'Mummy, I have Rs.50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'

The mother was crushed. She put his arms around her little son, and she begged for his forgiveness.

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers
without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that R50 worth of your time with someone you love.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

A Place For Me ...

There is a special place in life,
that needs my humble skill,
A certain job I'm meant to do,
which no one else can fulfill

The time will be demanding,
and the pay is not too good
And yet I wouldn't change it
for a moment -- even if I could

There is a special place in life,
a goal I must attain,
A dream that I must follow,
because I won't be back again.

There is a mark that I must leave,
however small it seems to be,
A legacy of love for those
who follow after me

There is a special place in life,
that only I may share,
A little path that bears my name,
awaiting me somewhere.

There is a hand that I must hold,
a word that I must say,
A smile that I must give
for there are tears to blow away

There is a special place in life
that I was meant to fill
A sunny spot where flowers grow,
upon a windy hill

There's always a tomorrow
and the best is yet to be,
And somewhere in this world,
I know there is a place for me

DREAMS

I've dreamed many dreams that never came true,
I've seen them vanish at dawn,
But I've realized enough of my dreams thank the Lord,
To make me want to dream on,

I've prayed many prayers when no answer came,
I've trusted many a friend that failed,
leisure…do not hurry….this is a treasure…

For those lucky to still be blessed with your Mom, this is beautiful. For those of us who aren’t, this is even more beautiful. For those who are moms, you’ll love this.

The young mother set her foot on the path of life. “Is this the long way?” she asked. And the guide said: “Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it. But the end will be better than the beginning.”

But the young mother was happy, and she would not believe that anything could be better than these years. So she played with her children, and gathered flowers for them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and the sun shone on them, and the young Mother cried,
“Nothing will ever be lovelier than this.”

Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said, “Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come.”

And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children,” A little patience and we
are there.” So the children climbed, and when they reached the top they said, “Mother, we would not have done it without you.”

And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up at the stars and said, “This is a better day than the last, for my children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness. Yesterday I
gave them courage. Today, I’ve given them strength.”

And the next day came strange clouds which darkened the earth, clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped and stumbled, and the mother said: “Look up. Lift your eyes to the light.”

And the children looked and saw above the clouds an everlasting glory, and it guided them beyond the darkness. And that night the Mother said, “This is the best day of all, for
I have shown my children God”

And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and the years, and the mother grew old and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, and walked with courage. And when the way was rough, they lifted her, for she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill, and beyond they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide And
mother said, “I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end
is better than the beginning, for my children can walk alone, and their children after them.”

And the children said, “You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates.” And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates
closed after her. And they said: “We cannot see her but she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence…….”

Your Mother is always with you…. She’s the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street; she’s the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks; she’s the cool hand
on your brow when you’re not well. Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she’s crystallized in every tear drop.

She’s the place you came from, your first home; and she’s the map you follow with every step you take. She’s your first love and your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can separate you.

Not time, not space… not even death!

CONFIDENCE BOOSTER

One day I decided to
quit...
I quit my job, my
relationship, my
spirituality...

I wanted to quit my
life. I went to the woods to have
one last talk with God.

"God", I said.
"Can you give me one good reason not to
quit?"

His answer surprised
me...

"Look around", He
said. "Do you see the fern and the
bamboo?"

"Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the
fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care
of them. I gave them light. I gave them water.

The fern quickly grew from
the earth. Its brilliant green covered
the floor.
Yet nothing came from the
bamboo seed.

But I did not quit on the
bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew
more vibrant and plentiful.

And again, nothing came
from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on
the bamboo. He said.

"In year three there
was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I
would not quit.

In year four, again, there
was nothing from the bamboo
seed.

I would not quit." He said.

"Then in the fifth
year a tiny sprout emerged from the
earth.

Compared to the fern it was
seemingly small and insignificant...But
just 6 months later the bamboo
rose to over 100 feet tall.

It had spent the five years
growing roots. Those roots made it
strong and gave it what it needed to
survive.

I would not give any of my
creations a challenge it could not
handle."

He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have
been struggling, you have actually been growing roots"

"I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you."

"Don't compare yourself to others." He said. "The bamboo had a
different purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest
beautiful."

"Your time will come", God said to me. "You will rise high"

"How high should I rise" I asked.

"How high will the bamboo rise" He asked in
return.

"As high as it can" I questioned.
"Yes." He said,

"Give me glory by rising as high as you can."
I left the forest and bring back this story.

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, popularly known as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the son of a little educated boat-owner in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, has become the 11th President of the Republic of India
. The names of the earlier Presidents of India are: Dr. Rajendra Prasad, S. Radhakrishnan, Zakeer Hussain, Fakuruddin Ali Ahmed, V. V. Giri, Neelam Sanjeev Reddy, Gyani Zail Singh, R. Venkataraman, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma and K. R. Narayanan. Some of our Presidents rose even from much humbler beginning than Dr. Kalam. It is very significant that he is the first scientist to occupy the Rashtrapati Bhavan. He is a man one, who has taken unto himself, the task of changing the destiny of India. He is a man with a vision. After studying in a primary school in Ramaeswaran, Dr. Kalam went to Schwartz High School at Ramanathpuram from where he went to Tiruchchirapalli for his higher studies. Dr. Kalam wrote :

“By the time I completed my education at Schwartz, I was a self-confident boy with the determination to be successful
. The decision to go in for further education was taken without a second thought. To us, in those days, the awarness of the possibilities for a professional education did not exist; higher education simply meant going to college. The nearest college was at Tiruchchirapalli, spelled Trichinopoly those days, and called Trichi for short. “After completing his BSc from St. Joseph’s college he joined the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), for studying aeronautical engineering.

He wanted to pursue a carreer in the INDIAN AIR FORCE ..................but he culdnt make it there. He was throughouly depressed and went to Haridwar. There a saint told him not to lose hope in life as more could be in store for him
. Dr. Kalam then joined the Technical Centre (Civil Aviation) of the DTD&P (Air) as Senior Scientific Assistant on a basic salary of Rs. 250/-

. While working at the Air force Directorate he got a chance to realise his dream. He joined the Indian Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR), the predecessor of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). And thus Kalam started his much talked about career in rocket and missile technology.
Before he became President of the country, Dr. Kalam had divided his career in four phases. In the first phase (1963-82) he worked with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). At ISRO he served in various capacities. After initiating Fibre Reinforced Plastics (FRP) activities and spending some time with the aerodynamics and design group he joined the satellite launching vehicle team at Thumba.

Here he was made the Project Director of the Mission for SLV-3. He played a crucial role in developing satellite launch vehicle technology and expertise in control, propulsion and aerodynamics. The SLV-3 project managed to put Rohini, a scientific satellite, into orbit in July 1980. India also acquired the ability to design various kinds of rocket systems. Commenting on the first phase of his career Dr. Kalam wrote: “This was my first stage, in which I learnt leadership from three great teachers—Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Prof. Satish Dhawan and Dr. Brahm Prakash. This was the time of learning and acquisition of knowledge for me.”
The second phase of his career started when he joined the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in 1982. As Director of DRDO, Dr. Kalam was entrusted with the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP). U

nder his leadership India has been able to develop strategic missiles. Like Nag (an anti-tank guided missile), Prithvi (a surface to surface battlefield missile), Akash (a swift, medium - range surface-to-air missile), Trishul (a quick-reaction surface – to – air missile) and Agni (an intermediate range ballistic missile).Three new laboratories/facilities in the area of missile technology were established.
About this phase Dr. Kalam wrote:

“During this stage, I have gone through many successes and failures. I learnt from failures and hardened myself with courage to face them. This was my second stage, which taught me the crucial lesson of managing failures.” Dr. Kalam’s contribution to India’s defence capabilities is very significant.

Dr. Kalam identifies his third phase with his participation with India’s mission to become a nuclear weapon state, jointly undertaken by DRDO and Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) with the active support of the armed forces. During this phase he, as Chairman of the Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), also got involved with the creation of Technology Vision 2020 and the India Millennium Missions (IMM 2020), which is an integratied version of technology vision and India’s security concerns. In November 1999 Dr. Kalam was appointed as Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.

His fourth phase started after he left the post of Principal Scientific Adviser. He joined the Anna University at Chennai as Professor of Technology and Societal Transformation. As part of realizing his mission he decided to ignite the minds of the young. For this purpose he wanted to reach at least 100,000 students in different parts of the country before August 2003. He has already met about 40,000 students. His fourth phase took a sudden turn, which he himself perhaps did not visualize. He became the President of India.

In 1997 Dr. Kalam was given the highest civilian award of India, the Bharat Ratna

NOW the point i want to make is this....
Note the lines that have been higlighted in red
.......they indicate the failures that Dr Abdul Kalam went through

He must have got the same kind of thoughts that many of the students get when they are unable to get marks as expected in the exams

But, note
there are only a few strong instances of failures that Abdul Kalam came through...........
once he overcame those, it was success all the way(the lines higlighted in blue)
the reason for his success??????????.................DETERMINATION AND THE ABILITY TO DREAM BIG and ACT BIGGER
Do u have the traits in you?????

if yes then go on and we will see u as a great person in the yrs to come

if no.......................

its up to u
to build these traits and become largely successful or to just go on complaining about the barriers u come across

ALL THE BEST

RAMANUJAN

If we talk about the greatest scientfic minds

i can think of one person in our recent past who has given a

"NEW DIMENSION IN MATHS"

YES I am talking of SRINIVASA RAMANUJAN

Ramanujan was born on 22 December 1887 in Erode, Tamil Nadu, India, at the place of residence of his maternal grandparents. His father, K. Srinivasa Iyengar worked as a clerk in a sari shop and hailed from the district of thanjavur. His mother, Komalatammal was a house wife and also a singer at a local temple. They lived in Sarangapani Street in a south-Indian-style home (now a museum) in the town of Kumbakonam.

By age eleven, he had exhausted the mathematical knowledge of two college students, who were lodgers at his home. He was later lent books on advanced trigonometry written by S.L. Loney. He completely mastered this book by the age of thirteen and he discovered sophisticated theorems on his own. By fourteen, he achieved merit certificates and academic awards throughout his school career and also assisted the school in the logistics of assigning its 1200 students (each with their own needs) to its 35-odd teachers. He completed mathematical exams in half the allotted time, and showed a familiarity with infinite series. When he was sixteen, Ramanujan came across the book, A synopsis of elementary results in pure and applied mathematics written by George S. Carr. This book was a collection of 5000 theorems, and it introduced Ramanujan to the world of mathematics. The next year, he had independently developed and investigated the Bernoulli numbers and had calculated Euler's constant up to 15 decimal places. His peers of the time commented that they "rarely understood him" and "stood in respectful awe" of him.

He received a scholarship to study at Government College in kumbakonam, known as the "Cambridge of South India." However, Ramanujan was so intent on studying mathematics that he could not focus on any other subjects and failed most of them, losing his scholarship in the process.

In August 1905, he ran away from home, heading towards Visakhapatnam.

He later enrolled at Pachaiyappa's College in Madras. He again excelled in mathematics, but performed poorly in other subjects such as physiology. Ramanujan failed his F. A degree exam in December 1906 and again a year later. Without a degree, he left college and continued to pursue independent research in mathematics. At this point in his life, he lived in extreme poverty and was often near the point of starvation

He met deputy collector V. Ramaswami Iyer who had recently founded the Indian Mathematical Society. Ramanujan, wishing for a job at the revenue department where Iyer worked, showed him his mathematics notebooks. As Iyer later recalled:

?

I was struck by the extraordinary mathematical results contained in it [the notebooks]. I had no mind to smother his genius by an appointment in the lowest rungs of the revenue department."

?

Iyer sent Ramanujan, with introduction letters, to his mathematical friends in Madras. Some of these friends looked at his work and gave him letters of introduction to R. Ramachandra Rao, the district collector for Nellore and the secretary of the Indian Mathematical Society. Ramachandra Rao was impressed by Ramanujan's work, but was doubtful that it was actually his own work. Ramanujan mentioned a correspondence he had with Professor Saldhana, a notable Bombay (now Mumbai) mathematician, in which Saldhana expressed a lack of understanding for his work, but concluded that he was not a phony. Ramanujan's friend, C. V. Rajagopalachari, persisted with Ramachandra Rao and tried to quell any doubts over Ramanujan's academic morality. Rao agreed to give him another chance, and he listened as Ramanujan discussed elliptic integrals, hypergeometric series, and his theory of divergent series which Rao said ultimately "converted me" to believe Ramanujan's mathematical brilliance.Rao: "ask him what he wanted", and Ramanujan replied that he needed some work and financial support. Rao consented and sent him to Madras. He continued his mathematical research with Rao's financial aid supporting his daily needs. Ramanujan, with the help of Ramaswami Iyer, had his work published in the Journal of Indian Mathematical Society.

?

Mr. Ramanujan's methods were so terse and novel and his presentation so lack in clearness and precision, that the ordinary [mathematical reader], unaccustomed to such intellectual gymnastics, could hardly follow him.

?

To supplement Hardy's endorsement, a former mathematical lecturer at Trinity College in Cambridge, Gilbert Walker, looked at Ramanujan's work and expressed amazement and urged him to spend time at Cambridge. As a result of Walker's endorsement, B. Hanumantha Rao, a mathematics professor at an engineering college, invited Ramanujan's colleague Narayana Iyer to a meeting of the Board of Studies in Mathematics to discuss "what we can do for S. Ramanujan." The board met and agreed to grant Ramanujan a research scholarship of 75 rupees per month for the next two years at the University of Madras. While he was engaged as a research student, Ramanujan continued to submit papers to the Journal of the Indian Mathematical Society. In one paper, Ramanujan anticipated the work of a Polish mathematician who had published his work shortly after. In his quarterly papers, Ramanujan drew up theorems to make definite integrals more easily solvable. Working off Giuliano Frullani's 1821 integral theorem, Ramanujan formulated generalizations that could be made to evaluate formerly unyielding integrals.

Hardy's correspondence with Ramanujan soured after Ramanujan refused to come to England. Hardy enlisted a colleague lecturing in Madras, E. H. Neville, to mentor and bring Ramanujan to England. Neville asked Ramanujan why he was not coming to Cambridge. Ramanujan apparently had now accepted the proposal, as Neville put it, "Ramanujan needed no converting and that his parents' opposition had been withdrawn." Apparently, Ramanujan's friends convinced his mother to accept the journey to Cambridge. Ramanujan was personally convinced by a vivid dream his mother had, in which the family goddess Namagiri commanded her "to stand no longer between her son and the fullfilment of his life's purpose."

Ramanujan went aboard the S. S. Nevasa on 17 March 1913

Hardy and Ramanujan began to take a look at Ramanujan's work in his notebooks. Hardy had already received 120 theorems from Ramanujan in the first two letters, but there were many more results and theorems to be found in the notebooks. Hardy saw that some were wrong, some were already discovered and the rest were new breakthroughs.

While the master was still in India, Ramanujan recorded the bulk of his results in four notebooks of loose leaf paper. These results were mostly written up without any derivations. This is probably the origin of the misperception that Ramanujan was unable to prove his results and simply thought up the final result directly. Mathematician Bruce C. Berndt, in his review of these notebooks and Ramanujan's work, says that Ramanujan most certainly was able to make the proofs of most of his results, but chose not to.

This style of working may have been for several reasons. Since paper was very expensive, Ramanujan would do most of his work and perhaps his proofs on slate, and then transfer just the results to paper. Using a slate was common for mathematics students in India at the time. He was also quite likely to have been influenced by the style of G. S. Carr's book, which stated results without proofs. Finally, it is possible that Ramanujan considered his workings to be for his personal interest alone; and therefore only recorded the results.[81]

The first notebook has 351 pages with 16 somewhat organized chapters and some unorganized material. The second notebook has 256 pages in 21 chapters and 100 unorganized pages, with the third notebook containing 33 unorganized pages. The results in his notebooks inspired numerous papers by later mathematicians trying to prove what he had found. Hardy himself created papers exploring material from Ramanujan's work as did G. N. Watson, B. M. Wilson, and Bruce Berndt. A fourth notebook, the so-called "lost notebook", was rediscovered in 1976 by George Andrews.

Plagued by health problems all through his life, living in a country far away from home, and obsessively involved with his mathematics, Ramanujan's health worsened in England, perhaps exacerbated by stress, and by the scarcity of vegetarian food during the First World War. He was diagnosed with tuberculosis and a severe vitamin deficiency and was confined to a sanatorium. Ramanujan returned to Kumbakonam, India in 1919 and died soon thereafter at the age of 32. His wife, S. Janaki Ammal, lived in Chennai (formerly Madras) until her death in 1994.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://alookaroundworld.blogspot.com/2010/05/greatest-mathematician-s-ramanujan.html' title='GREATEST MATHEMATICIAN :: S.

Imagine there was a bank that credited your very own account each morning with a large sum of money. But, it carried over no balance from day to day. Every evening it deleted whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out all of it, of course!

Each of us has such a bank. Its name is - Time. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.

Each day it makes a new deposit for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow." You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success!

The clock is running. Make the most of today. And remember that time waits for no one. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. But today is a gift. That's why it's called The Present!

..........................................................................................................................................................................................................

Until

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are.

After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, when we are able to go on a nice vacation or when we retire.

The truth is there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with ... and remember that time waits for no one.

So, stop waiting ..

Until your car or home is paid off.

Until you get a new car or home.

Until your kids leave the house.

Until you go back to school.

Until you finish school.

Until you lose 10 lbs.

Until you gain 10 lbs.

Until you get married.

Until you get a divorce.

Until you have kids.

Until you retire.

Until summer..

Until spring.

Until winter.

Until fall.

Until you die.

There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt and dance like no one's watching.

....................................................................................................

Michael's Story

Michael is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!" He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Michael was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Michael and asked him,

"I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"

Michael replied,

"Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or ... you can choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or ... I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or... I can point out the positive side of life. I Choose the positive side of life."

"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested.

"Yes, it is," Michael said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life."

I reflected on what Michael said. Soon thereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it. Several years later, I heard that Michael was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Michael was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back. I saw Michael about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied.

"If I were any better, I'd be twins. Wanna see my scars?"

I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

"The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon-to-be-born daughter," Michael replied. "Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or ... I could choose to die. I chose to live."

"Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked. Michael continued,

"...the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read "he's a dead man. I knew I needed to take action."

"What did you do?" I asked.

"Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me," said Michael. "She asked if I was allergic to anything. 'Yes', I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Gravity.' "

Over their laughter, I told them,

"I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead."

Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything.

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." After all today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

***Friendship Inspirational Quotes***

Here are 20 famous quotes on friendship inspiration. A must read for any dog lover!

An old man and his dog were walking down this dirt road with fences on both sides, they came to a gate in the fence and looked in, it was nice - grassy, woody areas, just what a 'huntin' dog and man would like, but, it had a sign saying 'no trespassing' so they walked on.

They came to a beautiful gate with a person in white robes standing there. "Welcome to Heaven"
he said. The old man was happy and started in with his dog following him.

The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs aren't allowed, I'm sorry but he can't come with you." "What
kind of Heaven won't allow dogs? If He can't come in, then I will stay out with him. He's been my faithful companion all his life, I can't desert him now. " "Suit yourself, but I have to warn you,
the Devil's on this road and he'll try to sweet talk you into his area, he'll promise you anything, but, the dog can't go there either. If you won't leave the dog, you'll spend Eternity on this road " So the old man and dog went on.

They came to a rundown fence with a gap in it, no gate, just a hole. Another old man was inside. "Scuse me Sir, my dog and I are getting mighty tired, mind if we come in and sit in the shade for awhile?" "Of course, there's some cold water under that tree over there. Make yourselves
comfortable " "You're sure my dog can come in? The man down the road said dogs weren't allowed anywhere." "Would you come in if you had to leave the dog?" " No sir, that's why I didn't go to Heaven, he said the dog couldn't come in. We'll be spending Eternity on this road, and a glass of cold water and some shade would be mighty fine right about now. But, I won't
come in if my buddy here can't come too, and that's final. "

The man smiled a big smile and said "Welcome to Heaven." "You mean this is Heaven? Dogs ARE allowed? How come that fellow down the road said they weren't?" "That was the Devil and he gets all the people who are willing to give up a life long companion for a comfortable place to stay.

They soon find out their mistake, but, then it's too late.

The dogs come here, the fickle people stay there. GOD wouldn't allow dogs to be banned from Heaven.

After all, HE created them to be man's companions in life, why would he separate them in death?"

DREAMS :: An Inspirational Composition

Dreams are a big part of our Lives
Another day has begun.

But still no sleep has come.
My body is weary

My mind overworked.
I lie awake thinking

But what I am unsure.
I need to break free from the cycle I endure.

Everyday is the same and the nights are undistinguished.
I feel as though I am being pushed along with the tide

Unable to break free from the everyday flow.
This is not me I need to change, before time takes over

And I am unable to change.
I need to be freed from the grasp of ordinary

And become that person I have always longed for.
Express myself in every way, and conquer the dreams as I lie awake.

Then I may fall asleep and put my mind to rest.
Make changes in my life and help those in need.

I would like to touch everyone's life in a positive way
Lawrence Lemieux stopped racing in a yacht race to help
a fellow competitor who was in trouble. The whole world was watching. His priority of
safety for other people's lives was greater than his desire to win. Even though he did
not win the race, he was a winner. He was honored by kings and queens all over the
world because he kept the spirit of the Olympics alive.

2.I heard the story about Reuben Gonzales when he was in the final match of the
racquetball tournament. This was an important event and he was playing for the world
title. In the final game at match point, Gonzales played a super shot to save point. The
referee and the linesman both confirmed that the shot was good and he was declared
the winner.

* {Journal of the American Family Association, November / December 1991.}
But Gonzales, after a little pause and hesitation, turned back to shake his opponent's
hand and said, "The shot was faulty." As a result, he lost the serve and eventually, lost
the match.
Everyone was stunned. Who could imagine that a player with everything officially in
his favor, with winning in his pocket, would disqualify himself and lose. When asked
why he did it, Gonzales replied, "It was the only thing to do in order to maintain my
integrity." He lost the match, yet he was a winner.

3.A group of salespeople left town for a meeting and told their families they would be
back home Friday evening for supper. But as with meetings the way they are, one
thing leads to another and they didn't finish on time. They were delayed and had to
catch a flight. They came to the airport just at the last minute, with tickets in hand, and
ran, hoping the plane hadn't departed. While running, one of them hit a table and on
the table was a fruit basket. All the fruit got scattered and bruised but they didn't have
time to stop. They kept running and made it to the plane and all of them breathed a
sigh of relief that they had made it, except one. He got in touch with his feelings, got
up, said good-bye to his friends and went. What he saw made him glad that he came
out. He went to the table that was knocked down and behind the table was a ten-year-
old blind girl who was selling the fruits to make a living. He said, "I hope we haven't
ruined your day." He pulled out $10 from his pocket, handed it to her and said, "This
will take care of the fruits," and he left. The girl couldn't see what was going on; all she
could hear was the footsteps leaving. As the footsteps faded away, she shouted from
behind, "Are you God?" He missed his flight but was he a winner? You bet. One can
be a winner without a medal and one can be a loser with a medal if winning is not kept
in perspective.

The Will To Win - INSPIRATIONAL POEM

The Will To Win
To go out and fight for it,
Nor sickness nor pain
Can turn you away from the thing that you want,

If dogged and grim you besiege and beset it,
For
many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's
showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told
him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited
signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the
morning of his graduation his father called him into his private
study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine
son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son
a beautiful wrapped gift box.

Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man
opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible. Angrily,
he raised his voice at his father and said, "With all your money you
give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy
book.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in
business.
He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his
father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He
had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make
arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had
passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He
needed to come home immediately and take care things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and
regret filled his heart.

He began to search his father's important papers and
saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With
tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he
read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope
taped behind the Bible.
It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the
sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation,
and the words...PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not
packaged as we expected?
Some people spend their every waking moment pursuing it, to the detriment of all else.
For others, attaining success seems impossible. They conclude that it is destined for a select few. The rest of us are to remain “content with such things as we have”. Having it all is not “in our stars”.
However, the above assumptions couldn’t be further from the truth. When you strive for success with the wrong assumptions, you will never reach it.
It’s like travelling somewhere with the wrong map.
Zig Ziglar says that, “Success is a process, not an event,” “a journey, not a destination.”
Jim Rohn describes it as “…a condition that must be attracted not pursued.”
Do you see the pattern?
“…a process, not an event.”
“…a journey, not a destination.”
“…a condition that must be attracted not pursued.”
You can’t hurry success, catch it, or find it by chance. You can’t inherit it, gate-crash on it, or take it from some one else.
Success is something you must work hard and long to earn, for yourself. It has a price, sometimes a very high one. And most people aren’t really and truly ready to pay that price, to do what success demands.
If success has eluded you so far, perhaps you should try changing your assumptions.
You need to accept that:
(1) You must go through a growing process, which will require time and patience, in order to achieve success. There are no short cuts. Anything else is a temporary illusion.
Success that will remain with you, and bring you joy rather than sorrow, requires a learning process, a time to grow out of old habits and into new ones, a time to learn what works and what doesn’t.
And you must pay your dues, in full, in advance!
So don’t be in a hurry.
(2) You will need to acquire traits and skills that attract it.
What does success mean to you? Identify, in specific terms, what you regard as success. What traits or skills will you need to achieve this goal? Set clear, written goals.
Devise plans to acquire the needed traits and skills. Learn to do what you need to do, to get where you want to go.
What kinds of people have what you want? What do they do, or not do, that helps them get and keep it?
If you do what they do and avoid what they avoid, there’s a good chance that you will end up with what they have.
Find 2 or 3 people who have what you want. Write down the habits that have made them successful and resolve to copy them.
Starting now!
This is called mentoring, learning from others who have arrived where you want to go.
Mentoring can cut out the heart-aches of trial and error. A mentor can keep you focused and on track.
Once you learn to do what it takes, you qualify. And when you qualify, success comes looking for you. You just can’t be denied!
What a relief from the days when you ran after it! You fulfill the requirements and attract success to yourself. Opportunities open up to you, and when they do, they find you ready to grasp them.
(3) You must be ready to travel the road to success, oftentimes alone. It’s been said that, “At some point in time, the pursuit of your goals becomes secondary and what you have become in the process…..is what is most important. It’s not the distance you go…so much as the going itself” (Les Brown).
Parents, remember when you tried to teach your children to crawl? You put their favourite toy in front of them and teased them forward, inch by inch. They were after the toy, which kept them motivated.
But you wanted to strengthen their muscles and teach them a new skill. When they became good at reaching the toy, they had learned to crawl. After that, they could reach any destination they wanted, without you and the toy!
The DESTINATION was less important. They became champion crawlers in the PROCESS!
That’s what the journey to success does to you. It causes you to learn habits and skills that make you “full of success”, or “successful”.
Because you have now mastered the skills and the process, you can keep on reproducing success. You now have what it takes. But if you try to “gate-crash”, you don’t get to learn the process and the skills.
You cannot reproduce success, in the same or different scenarios. You do not have the tools for acquiring it; you only have a mirage. In other words, you have not become successful.
Should calamity strike, you are back to square one, and you’ll quite likely be there a long time.
Anyone can identify what success means to them and go after it. If you don’t mind the hard work and waiting, success can be yours. You can become the kind of person who attracts what he or she wants rather than running after it.
Funny enough, when you are ready for success you attract it, with little effort.
When you are not, it runs from you, no matter how hard you chase. In other words, you repel it!
Most likely, this is the reason that success eludes people.
Now that you know how to attract success, why not get started on the journey or process that will take you where you want to go? Any one can succeed, but unfortunately not every one will. It’s your decision to choose. Fate does not foist it upon you. You can have anything you want in life, if you’re ready to pay the price. But if you consider the process too hard, too slow, or the distance too long and lonely, you have qualified your self as a looser; painful but true.
So don’t short-change yourself with short-cuts and counterfeits. You can have the real thing.
Go out there today and start attracting success.
It’s literally yours for the taking!

Looking at his reflection in the mirror, this man said: Oh, my God! My father has descended from heavens.

On seeing her husband talking to himself, his wife peeped into the mirror. She saw her own face and screamed: why are you talking to another woman?

The husband replied: I was not talking to a woman, I was talking to my father !

His wife was furious. She shouted: Not only are you talking with other woman behind my back, but you are also lying about it. You must be having an affair !

A preacher, who was passing by, heard the noise, stopped and looked at the mirror which started the quarrel. On looking at the mirror he was shocked. He shouted with fury: I am the only preacher in this area. Where did this monk come from ?

He flung the mirror on the ground and it broke into many pieces.

If he was a wise man, this would not have happened.

What is wisdom ?

Wisdom is not knowledge.

Knowledge is accumulated information. Wisdom is knowledge processed through experience and found to be true. Knowledge is mere fact; wisdom is truth.

Fireflies emit light so that the male and famale fireflies can locate each other, mate and multiply. This is the truth and wisdom. If someone observes fireflies emitting light, and from that observation concludes that the purpose is to light the way in the night. It is useless and misleading knowledge, as most of our knowledge is.

It is easy to gather knowledge. We fill our mind with knowledge by reading, watching TV and listening to people. It is so easy. Most of such knowledge and information is useless. They only add to your ego.

Experience is born out of real hard labour. We cannot change knowledge into experience, as there is no connection between worldly knowledge and life experience ! Knowledge is merely the map; experience is the territory. You cannot reach your destination by reading map !

Understand that the accumulation of knowledge only increases the ego. Instead, internalise the knowledge of information and relate it to experiential wisdom. Let the breeze of joy blow in your life.

Meditation helps us to internalise our experience, and process that into wisdom. It is an alchemy that happens internally, an alchemy that can transform our lives.

<img
