I've never been a fan of lashes, until this past summer of 2017. I discovered that eyelash extensions were booming and you can get them done at every corner salon, and even privately in lash artist's homes! I also found out that they could be done for less than $200 (which was my initial thought of what eyelash extensions cost). So I did extensions for about 2 months, I tried 3 different lash artists and ultimately I did not have good experiences. I don't know if it is just my super straight lashes, but I had a hard time with them (I'm planning to write about this soon!).

I began using daily false strip lashes instead from the drugstore, and then I was asked to test out these 3 lashes from Velour Lashes. Perfect timing! I know Velour is an expensive lash brand, with lashes ranging from $34 and upwards, but I have never tried any high-end lashes so I was definitely curious to see how worth it they were.

I chose 3 different styles of lashes, but they are all mink hair. They come in super fancy boxes with a container inside, which I think is a bit wasteful, but it definitely feels luxurious. The lashes that I chose all have an invisible band, I prefer it because I think it gives a more natural look.

I honestly have no idea why I chose lashes that all sound the same. I had a hard time remembering which pair was which: Serendipity, Strip Down, Skin to Skin? Velour you're killing me here!

The first pair, Serendipity is my favourite. I have smaller hooded eyes so the other two, even when cut to size, are still a little large for my eyes. Skin to Skin looks a little ridiculous on me I can't even wear that one.

First I wanted to mention the Velour Lash Adhesive ($15 CAD). I think it is fairly priced, but I didn't find it holding these lashes on. I found that these lashes were a little thicker, and so the glue was not able to hold the shape on my eyes. I think the glue would be alright for thinner, lighter, drugstore lashes, but it was definitely struggling to hold these.

I use the Velour Too Easy Lash Applicator ($28 CAD) to apply the lashes on my eye, and to clamp the lashes to my natural lashes so it blends them together. I do not use the comb side for anything really. I love the lash applicator and it makes the application process a heck of a lot easier.

Now onto the lashes:

The lashes themselves are great. I have used a single pair about 4 times already and they are holding up nicely. I'm seeing a few strands begin to fall out but I am hoping they will last at least quite a bit longer. Honestly, it'd be nice to see these last at least 30 uses due to the high price you pay for them, but I don't see that happening. I won't say it can't happen, I'm sure if you are the type to take great care of them, they will last. But for myself, I get a little irritated when trying to remove my lashes and I will go to the ends of earth to remove them (heh).

They are strong and I can definitely see the difference between drugstore or cheap no-name brand lashes that I've used in the past. The band is thick and doesn't seem like it will fall apart anytime soon.

All in all, I'd definitely splurge on a pair of these and I now understand why people do. They look awesome and for a special night or night out, I'd say they're worth it. I wore Serendipity to a friend's birthday and to my own birthday, and I would definitely purchase a pair for my next birthday! They do last more than one use, so if only being used for special occasions you can probably get away with only purchasing two pairs a year or so. I won't stop purchasing more affordable false lashes (like drugstore, Ardell, Kiss), but I also think it's fine to splurge on a pair of two of these! The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask

Acne as a teenager? Probably the worst thing ever. All I want to do is impress the boy I have a crush on, yet I have growing pimples on the most inconvenient areas of my face. Even in college, I had yet to grow out my regular breakouts. I am so happy that now in my early 20's, I only face the occasional breakout (usually around that time of the month) and I don't have to worry about eating the wrong food, or using skincare with the wrong ingredients.

The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask uses light to fight all types of acne, sending therapeutic red and blue wavelengths to the skin at the speed of light. This works to disrupt the acne cycle and kill bacteria. The red light reducing inflammation, and the blue light kills bacteria. This mask is at a class of it's own, because it is currently the only drugstore available light therapy acne treatment.

The mask comes with little cut outs that contain the red and blue lights, as well as glasses to help protect your eyes from the bright light. The mask itself does not feel expensive and is a little flimsy, but it is to be expected when you look at the price point (drugstore, not Sephora pricing).

So what do I do when the activator runs out of uses? Good news, you can recycle the activator through Neutrogena's partnership with Stericycle. Navigate to the Light Therapy Acne Mask page on Neutrogena's website and they will generate a pre-paid shipping label for you! Yes, I know, I hate that there are only 30 cycles on the activator and it won't work forever. But I can understand why they did this, because they wanted to keep the price point lower and maintain the drugstore affordability.

Oh, and I also got my boyfriend to try out the mask a few times.

He seemed to like using it a little more than I thought he would! Besides the fact that it was a little too small for his face.

I know that it's hard to get men to use skincare products nightly, but for some reason getting him to test this out was a breeze. I guess he was drawn to the look of it, and the fact that it lights up red and blue light (see how easy it is to distract them?)

The instructions say to use it everyday. Who is not lazy enough to do that? I'd say I can use it a few times a week but I definitely cannot commit to using it every single day. But using it is actually so simple. You just put the mask on, and activate it with the controller, keep it on for 10 minutes and it will shut off automatically.

I'd definitely recommend trying this one out, at the very least, if you struggle with getting rid of acne. I don't think it will break the bank and I think it is worth a shot. If it doesn't work for you, at least you didn't spend upwards of hundreds of dollars (not sure actual pricing!) getting treatments done at a clinic.

I have no actual complaints about the construction of the mask itself, but I do wish the sunglasses were a bit darker so the light would not be so bright on the eyes. It'd be cool if we could just use our own sunglasses with the mask, instead of these universal built in glasses. They are UV FREE so the light is not going to hurt your eyes, but I just found the light itself a bit bothersome and it was difficult to keep my eyes open so I could preoccupy myself while I wait.

Real Techniques Miracle Sculpting Sponge & Mini Eraser Review

Most beauty brands eventually come out with sponge makeup applicators, in competition with the famous, Beauty Blender. Real Techniques tried this already, with their Miracle Complexion Sponge (reviewed here). Although I did really like the Miracle Complexion Sponge because it was the best dupe I could find for a Beauty Blender at the time, I realized it didn't hold up as long as I thought it would and began to lose it's sponge-i-ness.

With these new Miracle Mini Eraser Sponges & Miracle Sculpting Sponge, the sponge formulation seems improved, and I've found myself using it quite often with it still holding up!

The sponges come in hangable plastic containers, with instructions on the back to replace every 3 months. With proper weekly washing, I haven't had to replace mine yet, but I am very thrifty so I try to make them last as long as possible!

Both sponges have angled flat sides so you can get into the curves of your face and are both latex-free. Although I prefer to use them mainly for foundation, you don't have to, and many people use them for contouring, highlighting, concealing and sculpting. I do like them for blending out cream contour or simmering down too much highlight if I don't have a brush with me.

Real Techniques Miracle Sculpting Sponge ($10.49 CAD)

I prefer using this one for applying foundation to my face, but as I mentioned, I have used this for cream contour and controlling too much highlighter as well. I only use this sponge damp, as I don't like the results using any sponges dry. I find I can still get high coverage using it damp. This sponge actually looks like a previous sponge I've reviewed by Sephora, and I have to say, I think I like this one better! Pretty sure it's also a bit cheaper.

Real Techniques Miracle Mini Eraser Sponges ($10.49 CAD for 2)

I wasn't sure why these were called the Mini 'Eraser' Sponges until I took a double-take on the website. They list 6 different uses for the mini sponges: to sweep away eyeshadow fallout, wipe away liner mistakes, pick up brow powder fallout, wipe away mascara smudges, pick up over-applied eyeshadow, blend away too much blush/highlighter.

I don't typically need to use it for any of those things, but don't let it deter you from trying it out! I loved using these, damp, for applying under eye concealer. They got big enough when damp that they were perfect for concealer, but a little too small when dry. I also did use it for baking and for applying cream products.

Overall, I would definitely purchase these. I think they're great dupes for the beloved Beauty Blender, and I actually find myself using these sponges more often. I found a multi-pack on Amazon.ca, here for a good price! I've linked a few good amazon deals below:

Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Oil Review & Regime

I am a big believer in tea tree oil, I think it's a great, more natural way to help get rid of acne faster. I used to use tea tree oil religiously when I was in high school, because my skin was going through puberty and was way too sensitive for any salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide products. I got lazy over time and haven't really used many acne products since then because I found them to be too harsh for my skin. I totally forgot that tea tree oil was my thing in high school!

Thursday Plantation mentioned these five tea tree face care products to try, I said yes because I knew that tea tree oil worked well for my acne, and I was curious to see how the rest of the products would perform. I have seen the brand in Walmart before and I know that they are a reputable brand. They originated in Australia, and are actually one of the first brands in Australia to utilize tea tree oil there.

All of the products here contain 100% pure Australian tea tree oil.

I had no idea, but upon doing some research I found out that tea tree oil is also good for bacterial infections, chickenpox, cold sores, congestion, earaches, fungus, bad breath, head lice, psoriasis, dry cuticles, itchy insect bites, sunburns, staph infections, and probably more!

STEP 1: Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Face Wash Foam (150 ml, $14.99 CAD) is a thin, non-oily/greasy foam that gently removes sebum excess, dirt, and make-up without stripping the skin. The face wash does (half) of what it says, it is very gentle and does not strip the skin, but unfortunately it was not strong enough to remove my makeup or have the skin feel 'cleansed' which is what I look for in a cleanser. It also contains chamomile to help soothe redness, but I didn't notice whether it improved my red cheeks or not.

STEP 2: The Thursday Plantation Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Toner (100 ml, $12.99 CAD) is alcohol free so it does not disrupt the skin's pH, and uses both tea tree oil and witch hazel to purify and tighten pores. It also contains aloe vera and calming lavender to sooth redness as well. It feels slightly cooling on the skin at first, and is quite refreshing. The scent of tea tree oil is a little strong, and it does leave the skin with a bit of oiliness/residue. I definitely would prefer to use this during colder months of the year, because during the summer I want to have as little oil on my face as possible. It is a little too 'residue-y' (I know, not a word *sigh*) for me.

STEP 3: The Tea Tree Face Cream (65 g, $15.99 CAD) is step 3 in the tea tree regime, and it contains tea tree oil of course, along with Rosehip and Vitamin E to moisturize and maintain clear skin. It is supposed to restore the skin's moisture balance after cleansing and toning, and also contains macadamia oil, rose hip oil, and shea butter. It is said to be easily absorbed and won't leave an oily residue. After testing, I did feel like this was true, -that it absorbed well and didn't leave an oily residue on my skin. Actually, out of the 3-step routine, this moisturizer was my favourite and I would probably purchase this out of the 3 when I run out. Aside from the toner, it just felt most effective because it stays on and absorbs into the skin. I also didn't have an issue wearing this during the day under makeup, thankfully, it didn't cause any excessive oil on my face. I didn't think this was anything super special, but it does what it says it does and is a nice daily moisturizer.

Now for the famous Tea Tree Oil, this is the smallest size available (10 ml, $7.99 CAD) but is more than enough for casual use. It also comes in a It is a natural acne treatment, and also is said to relieve minor cuts, abrasions, bites, and stings. I totally would never have though to use this for cuts/bug bites!?!? Mind-blowing. I didn't really test it for that, but I can say I like it for, 'assisting', in improving my acne faster than if I didn't use it. It's just a great alternative to harsher chemical 'acne-busters'. Knowing that this little bottle is such a multi-use product makes it feel like such a great investment.

And lastly, Thursday Plantation's Tea Tree Medicated Gel for Acne (10 g, $11.99 CAD) is a similar product to the Tea Tree Oil, but is more of a treatment gel to help dry out acne and pimples. It only contains 20% tea tree oil and also contains cinnamomum camphora (0.5%). The gel comes in an aluminum tube, which, I must say, is quite annoying because when opened it squeezes out EVERYWHERE. I literally tried to avoid using this unless I needed it because I knew a ton was going to explode out of the tube every time. I didn't find this effective, like the tea tree oil itself (obviously, since it is only 20%, duh Michelle!), and I would personally rather invest in the pure tea tree oil than this. I also would like to emphasis my hate for the packaging.. :p

Overall, I'd 100% try out the Tea Tree Oil first, out of the line, but if you are already a fan of tea tree oil there is a great product line-up here to try out. Except the Medicated Gel (sorry Thursday Plantation, please fix the packaging issue and then it might be a decent product!). For drugstore, the prices aren't the cheapest, so in my ranking order of what you should try first, I'd probably go with Tea Tree Oil, Toner, Face Cream, Face Wash Foam, and then the Medicated Gel (or not the Medicated Gel at all, unless you're curious).

Le Petit Marseillais Shower Cremes & Shower Gel Review

Le Petit Marseillais is not a new brand, but it is new to us here in Canada. The french brand launched into the Canadian market earlier this year. They have been around since 1981, but have only been able to launch across North America this year of 2017. In 2006 the brand was actually purchased by Johnson & Johnson! The brand is now available in 21 countries worldwide.

Seriously, don't ask me to pronounce this!! Just kidding, I try. But I'm terrible at speaking sometimes, so you would definitely not understand what I was saying.

It is officially pronounced "Leuh Peh-tee Mar-say-yay"

The scents of Le Petit Marseillais are formulated by top perfumers, and make for a great shower experience due to their lovely fragrances. The 5 products that were launched in Canada this year are their Shower Cremes and a Shower Gel. The brand does carry a ton of other products in the European market, but not currently in North America.

I love the packaging, it's simple yet still somehow cute, and the 400ml size is decent for the prices they can be found at. There are no special promises made about the body washes, besides that they are gentle to all skin types. I have had no issues with them, my skin feels moisturized and not drying after using these. The scents are probably the main selling point though! They are all wonderful but I can't get over the Cotton Milk & Poppy, White Peach & Nectarine, and Orange Blossom scents! They are unique to the 'body wash industry' in my opinion, and I would definitely purchase them once I run out! Likely if I happen to catch a sale, because I rarely buy things full price ;)

Summer Savvy: Newbies from P&G

I've had the pleasure of exploring P&G beauty products for a while now, and although their formulas are solid, they continue to change things up as often as they can by introducing new scents and designs to their collection. I have a few things from their 'Summer Savvy' Must-Have package to introduce and share with you, not in-depth reviews but just an overview of some of their new stuff!

The new Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky Dandruff Shampoo & Conditioner duo has a light refreshing scent with a 3 Action Formula to cleanse, protect, and moisturize. Head & Shoulders is the only brand of shampoo my bf will touch! He actually stole my Instant Cooling Relief duo from me because he had a super itchy scalp over the winter so I'm excited to get to test this duo out now.

And from Olay, the Fresh Outlast Purifying Birchwater & Lavender Body Wash is one of their newer scents. The formula is designed to work with skin's natural pH and won't dry out the skin. I've never had a problem with Olay body washes drying me out at all. The scent of this one isn't anything special and I much prefer their fruity scents over this one!

The Gillette Venus Swirl isn't a new product, but with the warm weather here I've got to be stocking up on razors! I try not to shave my legs but I do always search for the best razor for my lady parts. I try to change things up so my body doesn't get too used to one product. The Venus Swirl promises flawless shave with 5 contouring blades, Flexiball technology on the handle, and water-activated MoistureGlide serum for smooth sailing.

Herbal Essences Bio:renew Curl Defining Mousse comes in a grey bottle, part of the somewhat new Bio:renew line. It is designed for girls with curly hair for a non-sticky and flexible hold against humidity. I wish I did, but I don't have curls! So this doesn't work very well for my super straight hair.

The bottle of the Herbal Essences Bio:renew Cucumber & Green Tea Dry Shampoo is beautiful and I love trying new dry shampoos, but I haven't had many successful tries. I used to really like the Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo, it worked really similar to my favourite Batiste Dry Shampoo. But I then I started having issues with the nozzle getting clogged or just not working from the start. This one also contains tapioca to absorb the oil, as well as aloe, sea kelp, and antioxidants. Overall the ingredients list is quite small which is a good thing and I definitely feel the powder when sprayed onto the hair.

Olay Luminous Brightening & Protecting Lotion contains SPF 30 and is designed to hydrate, even skin tone, and protect against harmful UVs. I like this scent of this one because it has a light fragrance mixed with SPF, so you know the SPF is there. I don't believe there are any whitening ingredients, but it does have a very faint shimmer, and the SPF does work to brighten the face a bit.

And finally, the Secret Fresh Clear Gel in Ooh La La Lavender is a new scent of the Secret Fresh Antipersperant/Deodorant. It is a gel formula that dries fast and doesn't leave major marks or residue. It does dry fast and doesn't feel uncomfortable on the skin but the scent is a little strong for me. I will see how it holds up keeping me smelly-free!

ban.do super chill cooler bag - lemon style

I also received this AMAZING cooler bag by ban.do in the shape of a lemon! I am definitely NOT a sucker for cute things but I can't get over this bag! It is called the Super Chill Cooler Bag and actually comes in 4 different styles. After stalking their website I noticed they have other styles of cooler bags too (I had no idea this was a thing or I'd have been all over it sooner).

alba Botanica Facial Sunscreen Lotion & Continuous Spray SPF

This might be the first time writing about them, but alba Botanica is a brand I have had my eye on and have always kind of admired. They have actually been around since 1979, but I had no idea because I haven't heard of the brand until recently. Their products are 100% vegetarian, do not use animal testing and try to include as many botanical ingredients as they can.

"alba Botanica products are formulated without parabens, phthalates, artificial colours, propylene glycol, aluminum, mineral oil, petrolatum, oxybenzone, PABA, nan-particles, DEA, MEA, TEA, Pegs, and peg derivates, ethoxylated ingredients associated with 1,4 dioxane, formaldehyde donors, or GMOs."

Two newbies from alba Botanica that I have here, are the very emollient Continuous Spray Sunscreens with SPF 50+ ($16.99 CAD) in both Kids and Sport. The formulas seem to be quite similar, besides the Kids version providing only Water Resistance, and the Sport providing Sweat + Water Resistance. I was super excited for these because I am always looking for a sunscreen that doesn't need to be rubbed in. I HATE the feeling of my palms after applying sunscreen and I'll do anything to avoid that.

The Continuous Spray Sunscreens come in a 177ml aerosol can, and spray onto the skin colourless (clear). Actually, at first I was a little confused and thought that I hadn't shaken the bottle enough but I was wrong. It sprays as a mist and smells of a mixture of alcohol and sunscreen. I was concerned the formula would be a little drying on the skin but that definitely wasn't the case. Actually, the SPF 50+ formulas contain good ingredients for the skin like Green Tea, Aloe Leaf and Algae, Vitamin E, and Grapefruit Water.

Both contain UVA and UVb protectants, are eco-friendly and contain no chemical propellants, no artificial colours or fragrances, are hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested. I'd definitely recommend trying out the Continuous Spray Sunscreens, especially if you've been looking for something that applies clear!

The alba Botanica Facial Sunscreen Lotion ($9.99 CAD) contains SPF 40, claims to be fast absorbing and non pore-clogging. Containing botanicals like Aloe Vera, Ginseng, Lavender, and Calendula, and come in a 113ml sized tube. The sunscreen itself does not have a thick texture, but it does feel a bit heavier on the face than I'd like and a tiny bit greasy. I prefer a thin SPF for my face because I do like to wear makeup on a daily basis, and if the SPF is a little thick, it feels heavy under all my makeup.

I love the high content of SPF in alba Botanica products, and although the Facial Sunscreen Lotion was a bit too thick for me to wear under makeup, my aunt swears by it! I promised to give her the tube. She does not wear foundation and finds that this works really well with a moisturizer on her dry skin, and I wouldn't be surprised if she purchased one after she is done with this one.

Vichy Idealia Skincare Range!

I've reviewed quite a bit of Vichy skincare in the past and am such a big fan of their stuff. I am no stranger to the Idealia line but there are a few new/revamped products. Idealia focuses on those in their 30s (according to the website) that want to change their skincare routine and maintain more radiant skin. I have no idea why the focus is on people in their 30s; I am in my early 20s and I love the Idealia line. Idealia products contain an antioxidant complex, with blueberry extract, fermented black tea extract, and Vichy's Mineralizing Thermal Water. The complex is designed to make skin look more radiant, smoother fine lines, and reduced pores.

The range is suitable for all skin types and ages but it specifically focuses on making skin look more radiant and "alive". Who, at any age, doesn't want that!?

The Idealia Smoothness & Glow Energizing Cream is a day cream, retailing for $45.00 (CAD) at 50ml a jar. It contains Blueberry Polyphenols (fight effects of aging and stress) and Fermented Black Tea Extract (energizing and detoxifying), Adenosine (anti-aging), and Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water. It provides 24-hour moisture with a lasting glowing, and claims to even complexion and refine pores. Personally, I really like this moisturizer, but I can't say I noticed it evening my pores or complexion. I definitely notice a radiance to my skin when using this and it definitely works well under my makeup. I've used the Idealia Skin Sleep Moisturizer before but I do prefer this one over that. I would definitely purchase this when I run out.

I reviewed the Idealia Life Serum a while back, but the product has been revamped and has a different texture! It is now called the Idealia Radiance Booster Serum now and has a lighter, clear texture. It retails for $49.95 (CAD) for 30ml and claims to create smooth and glowing skin. The new texture is non-sticky and instantly absorbed for 24-hr hydration. The Radiance Booster Serum contains Licorice Root (skin brightening, preventative, reduce pigmentation), combined with Citrus Flavonoids (skin brightening), Adenosine (anti-aging), and Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water. This serum is so light and absorbs so quickly into my skin. I can't decide if I like the new formulation over the old one. It definitely is different and provides skin with a different feel. It does give a bit of a radiance but nothing overpowering, which is good for me. I can wear this no problem at night, under makeup, etc.

The Idealia Peeling: Radiance Activating Night Peeling Care is something I didn't expect to see in the Idealia line. A peel is a little more of a targeted skin care product and not many people realize that they are quite beneficial to the skin. It retails for $39.95 (CAD) for 100ml and contains special ingredient, exfoliating Glycolic Acid, Black Tea Extract (energizing and detoxifying), Blueberry with Polyphenols (fight effects of aging and stress), and Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water. The peel is designed for dull and uneven skintone to eliminate excess dead skin cells and to stimulate skin regeneration, so over time, dark spots and acne marks will fade. This is perfect for me, I hate scarred acne marks and dark spots! The product itself does scare me a bit, because it requires reduced sun exposure and wearing more SPF. Therefore, I haven't been using it as much as I'd like, to notice any reduction in dark spots. I have had luck with previous Vichy products I've tried in removing dark spots (Vichy Proeven Line) so I have no doubt this would do a decent job as well.

The Idealia Smoothness & Glow Mattifying Sorbet-Cream retails for $39.95 (CAD) for 50ml. It comes in a cute decently-sized tube, and the texture is as-described; a light whipped sorbet. It claims to boost the natural glow, even complexion and blur pores, smooth fine lines, and control shine. It contains Fermented Black Tea Extract (energizing and detoxifying, enhancing skin quality). It absorbs into the skin quickly and I definitely notice a bit of radiance in my skin when I use this. Not sure if I notice any shine control, but it definitely creates a matte base for my foundation application. I think this works great as a primer and it illuminates my face while smoothing and blurring my pores as well.

Overall the Vichy Idealia range is probably one of my favourite skincare lines! I love the radiance effect that the range promises, and it just works so well with my skin. I do feel that the ingredients are beneficial to the skin and will help slow down the process of aging (hopefully!). See the full range of Idealia products on Vichy.ca.

La Roche Posay Micellar Water Ultra Review

I'm a big fan of these brands that are drugstore available, aren't quiet considered 'high-end', but they've proven to me that they work so well with my skin. La Roche-Posay is definitely one of them, and I'm excited to share their new Micellar Water Ultra.

The Micellar Water Ultra comes in 3 different formulations for different skin concerns:

• Sensitive Skin

• Dry to Reactive Skin

• Oily Skin

It retails for $19.95 each, which for a 400 ml bottle is a very competitive price when compared to the other micelle waters on the market.

What La Roche-Posay brings to the table with these, is they introduce the 'Glyco-Micellar' technology, which just means the power of micelle solution with glycerin. Generally the result should be an easier glide with less rubbing using a cotton pad, and skin feeling more comfortable because of the glycerin ingredient.

Well which one do I buy? The differences don't seem like much tbh. The Micellar Water Ultra for Sensitive Skin has a light, hypoallergenic fragrance and hydrating glycerin and gently removes makeup, dirt, impurities without stripping the skin. It has no soap, no colorants, no alcohol, and no parabens.

The Micellar Water Ultra for Dry to Reactive Skin contains 5% glycerin (the highest amount compared to the other two) and is designed to increase hydration immediately, which delicately cleansing. It is fragrance-free with no soap, no colorants, no alcohol, and no parabens.

And lastly, the Micellar Water Ultra for Oily Skin is enriched with Zinc, and effective in removing dirt, oil, impurities and makeup without drying. It also contains no soap, no colorants, no alcohol, no parabens, and a hypoallergenic fragrance.

The descriptions probably still leave you thinking about which one to try, right? I would be feeling the same right now. But I put them to the test the best that I could. So they generally work the same, the scents are slightly different but all have hints of the general 'La Roche-Posay' signature "fresh" scent. The Sensitive Skin has almost no fragrance and is very light. I found the one that worked the best to actually remove my makeup was the Oily Skin and second favourite was the Sensitive Skin. I didn't find the Dry to Reactive Skin did as much makeup removing. Maybe they focused to much on not drying out the skin with this one.., and in return it isn't as effective.

Again, they are generally the same... formulation is very similar, but if I had to repurchase I would definitely get the Oily Skin Micellar Water just because I felt like it worked a bit better.

As you can see they remove foundation makeup well. It didn't remove my liquid liner or lipstick as well as I'd hoped, but this was expected. Also don't even bother trying it with (waterproof) mascara. This is strictly best for removing foundation. I don't expect micellar waters to do this though, I mainly just base them on whether they can remove my foundation properly or not. I usually expect it to remove lipstick as well, and this one will remove lipstick but it won't take off stubborn liquid lipsticks, unfortunately.

The price point is great at $19.95 CAD. It's highly competitive with the micellar waters out on the market as I mentioned, but I wish they did perform slightlyy better. I'd consider the formula of all of them pretty mild, but I did feel like the Oily Skin worked the best and I kept going back to that one while I was testing these. So I'd suggest trying that one first if you are looking into a new micellar water. You can find them at drugstores in Canada. Check here for your nearest location.

Apparently I don't like to post about my empties, even though I accumulate them in my basement and they pretty much stare at me every day. I have finished a lot more in 2016, but these photos were finished quite a while ago and I guess they got a little lost in my files. These are probably from the first half of 2016 (I know, it's sad this hasn't gotten up until now).

I do like to do round-ups of my empties though, so I think I will be aiming to do them 2-3 times a year from now on. I don't actually finish a lot of products often because I always end up saving products that I like, while testing something new. AND then I don't ever want to use the product that I liked because I have like 1/4 of it left and it's $40 or something ridiculous to repurchase, haha.

So here's a little round-up of the products I finished up from early 2016 and whether or not I would repurchase.

Swisspers Organic Cotton Rounds: I always repurchase these. Just plain affordable cotton pads from Walmart.

Yves Rocher Express Cleanser for Sensitive Eyes: Favouriteee oil-based makeup remover. Doesn't sting eyes and I use it daily. It removes everything.

Kiss My Face Pomegranate Acai Moisturizer*: I really liked this at first, specifically for the scent and whipped texture, it absorbed so quickly into my skin. I wouldn't repurchase this solely for the fact that it went bad on me a lot quicker than expected. I was using it daily and it just started to smell bad. I was sad I had to waste product! If it would last a teeny bit longer it'd definitely make it onto my 'to buy' list.

Bath And Body Works Snow Kissed Citrus & Maple Sugar Kiss Foaming Soap: Forever repurchasing these too. Best scented soaps and so worth it (when they're on sale).

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum: I really like this eye serum but every time I go looking for it, it's crazy expensive. I do still have other eye creams I'm finishing up but I would definitely consider this when I'm done all of them.

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster: I bought this because I wanted something to add to my moisturizer but would give me a glow/gradual tan. Does exactly what it says and it lasts quite a while because you are only using drops at a time.

Bioderma Sebium Pore Refiner Sample: I did like this, but I wasn't sure exactly what it was doing to my skin. It feels nice and refreshing, but I didn't notice it did anything special to my pores. Not sure I would repurchase, I do have a full-size and will continue trying it out.

Maybelline Master Conceal Camoflaging Concealer in Light: I do really like this concealer, I wouldn't use it for night's out but for a daily basis it works well.

L'Occitane Shea Butter Foaming Cleanser & Intense Hand Balm

L'Occitane has been my skin saviour recently; helping me get through the cold winter months and transition to spring here in Canada! They always have a brand focus on moisture, specifically Shea Butter, and I have two products from the line to share with you today; the Shea Foaming Cleanser and Shea Butter Intensive Hand Balm!

L'Occitane's Shea Foaming Cleanser is probably one of the most gentle cleansers I've tried to date. It contains 125 ml and retails for $28 CAD, although not the cheapest of cleansers, a little goes a long way so I can see this lasting for quite a while. I've used it daily for the past month and haven't noticed that Iv'e used much product (but also, the tube is not see-through so it's really hard to tell). It contains 5% shea oil and has a light scent. It has a cream/milky texture, not too thick or runny at all. It cleans my skin without stripping it of natural moisture. It lathers just enough that you don't need to use a lot at all. It claims that it does remove makeup and impurities, and while I tested it and it worked to remove my foundation, I do just prefer to use a makeup remover first to make sure I get everything off.

The L'Occitane Shea Butter Intensive Hand Balm comes in a 150 ml tube and retails for $40 from L'Occitane. This one contains a high amount of Shea Butter, 25% to protect skin from cold or any uncomfortable dryness. It's enriched with allantoin to soothe the skin immediately. It definitely does what it says, creating a barrier for the skin and instantly making it feel protected. It is a thick cream, you can feel it's there but it isn't overly oily on the skin or anything. The only thing I don't like about this is that because it's so thick, it's a little difficult to get out of the aluminum tube packaging. The scent isn't for everyone, it is a little 'mature' so to speak and I do prefer the cleanser over the hand balm because the scent is a lot lighter.

Buxom Plumpline Lip Liner Review + Lip Swatches

Lip liners seemed to have disappeared from a makeup junkie's stash of 'essentials' for a while, but the has made it's way back into 2017. Don't get me wrong, I love a good lip liner but they are not always something that a makeup lover gets excited about. It's usually about the newest liquid lipstick, or matte lipstick.

But the new Plumpline Lip Liners from Buxom are definitely something to think about putting on your radar..

The Buxom Plumpline Lip Liners retail for $20 CAD, and are the newest lip product release from Buxom as of January 2017. They've released 20 shades so far and I have 8 of them to share with you.

The pencils themselves are jumbo-sized for the ability to define, shape, and fill in the lips.

One side is the pencil lip colour, the other side is a brush to smooth out or blend the colour.

These to me really aren't lip liners at all, more of a lipstick but for the sake of their name I will continue to call them liners. The pencil is so hugeee, and the colour is so pigmented you don't need to top it off with a lipstick at all.

I really don't usually have a thing for lip liners because of their strong pencil scent, so at first I was like ehhh. But I quickly got over it. Once it's applied it didn't bother me, actually, you don't even notice the lip liner is on your lips at all. They are so light, matte, and non-sticky at all. I find myself being able to re-apply as often as I'd like without having to worry about sore lips later. The Plumpline Lip Liners all seem to be matte formulas.

The brush end really isn't necessary at all. I feel like it was a bit of a waste and I'd prefer to have a tiny bit more product. Also, I got really frustrated every time I opened the brush end thinking that it was the lip colour side when I was in a rush.

I was surprised at how highly pigmented these were, and they are quite matte! I love a matte lip and I'm so happy with how all of these shades look. If I had to choose 3 favourites, they'd be 'Incognito (warm nude), Dolly Danger (mauve pink), and Restricted' (rose red). I think the only one that didn't flatter my skin tone or lips was Intrigue. I think it made my lips pop way too much and I just wasn't feeling this one.

In regards to the plumping aspect, I DID notice my lips were quite full when I applied these. However, I do already have full lips so take that with a grain of salt. There is no tingling effect or anything, and I notice the plumpness instantly, so it must be something in the actual colour itself that gives the 'plump' look. OR it's just an illusion because the shades are so matte (will we ever know?!).

I found myself wearing these daily and not having to worry about transfer or any major smudging. As I mentioned, they are light, matte, and don't give me major dry or sore lips. For darker shades it's a little more concerning, but it does take a bit (of eating) to see any real reason to reapply. Overall I'd definitely purchase one again when I run out. I think it's an interesting product and definitely something to at least try once. $20 CAD isn't too bad and I have no doubt that one will last me a long time. Tangle Teezer Customized Compact Styler Hair Brush!

I know you've seen this hair brush before! Tangle Teezer is a UK brand, focused on helping you detangle your hair with minimal tugging and "ouch!" while introducing new and fun designs at the same time. 2008 was the first launch of the original brush and the brand has exploded since then.

The brush I have here is the Compact Styling Hairbrush. Is that A Lovely Allure logo on it!? Yes it is! I was able to customize my own brush with a graphic via the Tangle Teezer website!

The website gives you the option of customizing the Compact Style Brush only, but you are able to add your own graphic to the brush, or use a premade design from the website. They have 8 different colours available for the top and bottom of the brush but I stuck with the basics. I thought it would be awesome to use my actual logo on the brush, despite the fact that it only fit (nicely) diagonally!

The brush is customized and arrives to you like this, in a cute tiny black box. The quality of the graphic was better than I expected. The brush was a lot smaller than I expected, but it's shaped with the proper 'curves' and fits perfectly in the palm of my hand.

It includes a detachable cover, that slips on and off of the brush easily.

The Tangle Teezer uses a two-tier teeth system to prevent as much fuss, breakage, and damage as possible. I've tried the Blow Styling Hairbrush before but this was my first time actually trying a Detangling Brush from Tangle Teezer. The brush is ideal for either wet or dry hair, I personally prefer to brush my hair only when it's dry anyway. The brush detangled my hair gently, and I was able to avoid adding any unnecessary tangles like some brushes (that I've used in the past) do. Also, this brush is a great head massager! If my scalp is itchy, this thing is my saviour.

I would 100% recommend trying a Tangle Teezer brush out at least once! It is a great investment and it won't break the wallet.

You can get a regular Compact Styler for $25 CAD. Currently, on the Tangle Teezer website, you can get a personalized Compact Styler for roughly £16.67 + £2.97 shipping which amounted to roughly $32 CAD (with the exchange rate). I wouldn't hesitate to pay an extra few dollars for a personal customized brush. A lot of people haven't tried the Tangle Teezer brand and I think it's a great gift idea and great to buy for yourself as well.

Schwarzkopf Gliss Ultimate Repair Review

GLISS Hair Repair is an affordable line of hair products by Schwarzkopf that just launched in North America! At first I thought this was a new sub-brand from Schwarzkopf.. but Gliss has actually been around for 50+ years in Europe! They've only just launched in Canada and the US for March 2017.

Schwarzkopf is well known for their salon professional hair products but the GLISS line is reasonably priced and can be found at in drugstores, (it is available at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada).

The entire Gliss line is focused on addressing hair repair.

The 5 Gliss lines available in Canada are:

Ultra Moisture, Extra Volume, Ultimate Repair, Color Guard, Oil Nutritive

I had the choice of one, and I chose the Ultimate Repair to help fix my extremely damaged, ombre/balayage hair. Each line has a shampoo, conditioner, and matching hair treatment.

It seems the majority of the GLISS formulas contain keratin (I know the Ultra Moisture, Ultimate Repair, and Oil Nutritive have it), but the Ultimate Repair contains 3x the amount of liquid keratin than the others. It's designed to repair up to 10 layers of lost keratin, and get hair up to 90% stronger.

I noticed my hair feels soft and airy when using the shampoo and conditioner duo. A little refreshed as well. The scent is so lovely. It is like a summer coconut and just smells so relaxing.

The Express Repair Conditioner is the real winner though! This is a leave-in conditioner. It looks like a bottle of cream and oil but when shaken it mixes up, and you then spray it everywhere!! If my hair is dry I like to spray it on the ends only. But I go to town with this when my hair is damp. I like that it doesn't make my hair feel oily or weigh it down at all, but leaves it smooth.

The GLISS Hair Repair brand is available in Canada at Shoppers Drug Mart and retail price is roughly $9.99. I like that it's kind of a drugstore intro to the Schwarzkopf brand, and I would definitely purchase a set once I've finished up the shampoos on my shelf.

Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette

Everyone's coming out with an easier way to clean your brushes lately! I'm a fan of Real Techniques because they have good quality stuff, but are also reasonably priced. The new Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette retails for $19.99 CAD, and contains 3 different patterns on the palette (for optimal brush cleaning?)..

The palette comes with a sample pack of their new Brush Cleansing Gel as well.

The back of the palette has a slit for your hand so it's easy to hold.

I don't know why but after trying the palette a few times it just wasn't meeting my expectations. I think maybe it's due to the fact that it's completely silicone, it had a hard time cleaning my 'heavier stained' brushes. My liquid foundation brushes just weren't getting cleaned, the foundation was getting stuck onto the silicone and was getting put back onto my brush. A little bit of a pain in the butt. I used the Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Gel (which smells awesome btw), I also tried it with 2 alternative soaps and got similar results.

It did a much better job of cleaning my brushes that I use with powder products. But I don't think it's a good investment if you're trying to clean foundation brushes with this (like I had intended).

Overall, I think this is the first Real Techniques product I've tried that I don't really like. I'm kind of on the fence about it. The concept is sooo good and I really wanted to like it, but I wanted it solely for my foundation brushes and it doesn't do a great job of cleaning them (as mentioned above). I think it works well for brushes that only have powder residue on them (eyeshadow brushes, blush, bronzer, highlighter brushes, etc).

Ole Henriksen Skincare Regime & The ReLaunch!

Ole Henriksen is a brand I haven't spoke much about before. I've only recently started to regularly use their products and I do have good things to say. The brand is not a new brand, starting out as a spa and a small mail-order only skincare collection in the 80s. It has grown into such a popular collection, with Sephora being the #1 place to find Ole products.

I had the opportunity to meet and talk to Ole himself, back in August. It was such a great experience and I was also pampered by some of his awesome products! I took home a few things to more throughly test but haven't gotten around to writing about it until now.

Beginning 2017... Ole actually re-launched ALL of the Ole Henriksen products.

Actually, a lot of products seem to be removed from the line, but the favourites and bestsellers are here to stay. The packaging and a few names have changed, but as far as I know the products are still the same.

I have the old packaging, and unfortunately one of the products is being discontinued.

The Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser, now called The Clean Truth Foaming Cleanser ($38 CAD) smells yummy and fruity. It is a foam cleanser in a decently sized bottle and contains anti-oxidant african red tea, pumpkin extract, black currant oil, and vitamin C. The ingredients list has slightly changed along with the packaging change but nothing too drastic.

I use this every morning and have almost finished the bottle. It doesn't remove makeup. It also doesn't leave my skin feeling dry and is easy to use and wash off. It's paraben and sulfate free!

I love this cleanser and would definitely think about purchasing this one, but I'd have to weigh out whether the cost is worth it.

The Clean Truth Foaming Cleanser's new look

Ole's Sheer Transformation Oil-Free Perfecting Creme, now called the Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer ($38 CAD for 50 ml) is designed for all skin types and probably their bestselling moisturizer. It's oil-free, contains vitamin C, licorice root and pea extract to improve dark spots and discolouration.

This is another Ole product I've been using daily. I somehow seem to always go for this one when I see it on my counter. It just does so well under my makeup, it's so light on my skin and is easy to apply. I think I'd purchase this one over the cleanser, just seeing as I know it'll last longer in the end so it'd be better value for me.

The Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer's new look

The Ultimate Lift Eye Gel, now called the Uplifting Transformation Eye Gel ($52 CAD) smells soooo good, like cucumbers. It designed for evening use only, to tone, hydrate and reduce puffiness. It contains cucumber and algae extracts and bio-peptide. The instructions are to apply it all over the eye and lids, even up to the brow bone for full hydration.

You can definitely feel the extremely hydrating properties when it touches your skin and a slight cooling because of the cucumber. This is probably one of the more fun eye creams to apply (heh) because it feels like liquid jelly! I do like to use it about once or twice a week.

The Uplifting Transformation Eye Gel's new look

The Total Truth Eye Creme with SPF 15 (discontinued) seems to be discontinued for 2017. I guess I can understand why this one is being discontinued. I mean, I don't have anything hate for it, but it is a little thick, hard to spread under the eyes, and my makeup doesn't apply very well on top of it.

I do prefer to use this one for night but I think it is targeted for daytime use because it has SPF 15 and smells like spf. I did like that it contained vitamin C, omega 3 extracts, micro algae and tri-peptide 5 (to hydrate and firm).

The Clean Truth Cleansing Cloths, now called the Truth on the Glow Cleansing Cloths are $36... but for 100 which actually makes it a decent price (I think). The size pictured is the 30 wipes, but I can't seem to find this one for sale on Sephora's website right now... so unsure if they will still sell it in this size.

I really enjoyed the cloths, they removed my makeup well and smelled good. They also contain vitamin C, CoQ10 (cause I'm sure all of us consumers know what that is... haha), and black currant oil to 'rejuvenate and hydrate'.

Overall, Ole Henriksen is definitely now on my list of trusted skincare brands. I'd purchase the Sheer Transformation Moisturizer first out of anything, but would consider the other products as well (maybe during a Sephora sale, so don't have to dish out so much $$?).

I, along with quite a few other influencers have been given the opportunity to try the Bite Beauty Lip Pencils, as well as 2 of their matching Amuse Bouche Lipsticks through Influenster. Bite Beauty is known for their lip products and are actually produced in a lab in downtown Toronto. I've only ever reviewed their Matte Creme Lip Crayons before (here).

The Bite Lip Pencils I have here are in shades 020, and 044. I personally hate that they are numbered and aren't named, but what can you do. The formula glides on effortlessly, they are creamy (but not overly creamy) and super easy to apply. I wouldn't recommend to wear them alone, but they are great as a base before layering on an Amuse Bouche Lipstick! They seem to last just as long as any other lip pencil I've tried and smell like pencil (ugh, typical). Fortunately there seems to be a matching shade for each lip pencil, unfortunately, they are not labelled with the same name as the Amuse Bouche lipsticks.. Personally, I probably wouldn't purchase one of these because I don't often wear lip liners and these will probably last forever. But for a darker shade like Whiskey, 044 is definitely a good liner to have before applying the full lipstick all over the lips.

The Amuse Bouche Lipsticks were sent to compliment the lip pencils, but I think I ended up loving them more. These one's here are the mini lipsticks (not full sized). They smell amazing, reminds me of Fresh Beauty's tinted lip balms, there is a very citrusy/fruity scent. They taste fine and are very well pigmented. The nude shade, 'Honeycomb' is definitely a true nude on my lips and lightens up my slightly dark pigmented lips very well. It doesn't last more than a few hours (max!) especially with a lot of eating and talking. However, I do wear Honeycomb quite often and I would definitely consider repurchasing this shade, or any other neutral shade in the range.

As you can see from the swatches above, the 020 lip pencil with Honeycomb is the much safer bet if you are interested in trying any Bite lip products. The nude shade did not wash me out and I do find myself wearing it quite often. The 044 pencil with Amuse Bouche Whiskey is A LOT riskier, and I'm not going to lie I had a bit of a hard time getting the lip line even with 044 because it is a lot darker of a shade than I'd normally use.

I don't think I'd find myself buying another Bite lip pencil anytime soon, these will take me forever to finish! I don't typically wear lip pencils and I'm more likely to purchase an Amuse Bouche (I do really like Honeycomb!) once I run out. New P&G Body Essentials

I tend to only talk about facial skincare and makeup here, so it's not often I end up talking about other body care. P&G brands like Olay, Secret, and Head & Shoulders have been around for decades, and can easily be found in drugstores, supermarkets and convenience stores. If you haven't heard of the brands in this post... you either are not from North America or living in cave or something (heh).

Olay recently came out with a new line of body washes, Olay Fresh Outlast. It comes in about five different fruity scents. The one I have here is in Crisp Pear & Fuji Apple. The packaging is cute and the price is good, the bottle I have here is huge! but I do believe it comes in smaller, regular sizing as well. The scent smells like the real thing, it lathers well and doesn't dry out my skin. I have had no complaints using it but it is just a new scent and size, the formula doesn't seem anything new or special.

Next I have the Secret Clinical Clear Gel Antiperspirant/Deodorant in Completely Clean. The scent is as described.. it is pretty plain and doesn't smell like my ideal deodorant but it does the job. This is the clear gel formula and is designed to fight odour all day long with 4x protection from stress sweat. I'm not typically fond of the clear gel formulas, I much prefer regular old-fashioned deodorant, but it works as well as a typical deodorant does for me. However, I don't notice it protecting much more than other deodorants.

This one here is a known favourite. The anti-dandruff hair care line by Head & Shoulders. There are quite a few scents with slightly different properties in the line but the one I have here is the Instant Cooling Relief. It contains tea tree essence and peppermint oil to give your head a minty-cool feel. I found that the shampoo didn't give me the 'cool' feeling, but the conditioner made my scalp feel super cold! I have an itchy scalp and I did find my scalp slightly less itchy after using this shampoo, but the peppermint and tea tree definitely didn't help with my itchiness at all, if anything the cooling effect brought more attention to my itchy scalp. My boyfriend does rave about this being the only thing that works for his flaky scalp however, so I have been letting his use this lately!

In the past, I enjoyed the Olay Eye Brightening Cc Cream and wrote a review about it a while back (here). The new Olay Eyes Ultimate Eye Cream comes in the same packaging, and is also designed to fight puffiness, dark circles, wrinkles, and fine lines. The eye cream contains colour correcting technology, and a formula enriched with peptides and vitamins. It doesn't feel heavy on the eyes and absorbs super quickly. It is not pigmented enough (at all) to work as a concealer or for any coverage of that sort. I don't see this as having enough benefits for nighttime use.. edit: I found this didn't add moisture and dried easily in the jar. I don't really like it under makeup and so I ended up giving it away.

Dermablend Smooth Liquid Camo Foundation, Setting Powder & Makeup Remover

Quite a while ago (Fall of 2016), I attended the Dermablend Professional Canadian Launch and received a few products to try from the brand. Dermablend is a medium to full coverage brand and is considered the #1 camouflage brand in the USA by dermatologists!

I don't remember exactly what the artist used, but I believe they were covering the tattoos with a full coverage Cover Creme, with a powder foundation or setting powder on top.

Firstly, the Dermablend Smooth Liquid Camo Medium Coverage Foundation. It contains SPF 25, is a tiny 30ml size and retails for $42 CAD. To be honest, the size is so small it makes me not want to use it besides on special occasions, but a little ends up going a long way! The price is not bad considering what we see at Sephora nowadays (Marc Jacobs Remaracable is like $70 for 22ml, craazyy!).

The foundation claims to be medium coverage, but I find it to be a solid full coverage on me. It covers redness no problem, and acne spots, and just evens out the skin really well. The shade I have is 30W, it is a perfect match for me when I'm tanned in the summer but slighty too dark for the winter months. I might look into getting a shade lighter to add to my collection. I didn't find it irritating to my skin and I like that it has no added fragrance (aka it smells like plastic). I really don't mind it, it isn't overpowering and if you don't have a strong sense of smell it might smell like nothing to you. It is a little tacky at first, but smooths out well when you add the setting powder afterwards.

I'm so so impressed with the coverage as you can see above. No editing!! It hides my redness and beauty marks quite well and evens out the skin tone. The shade I am wearing is Bisque 30W.

The Dermablend Professional Loose Setting Powder has been getting much use in my beauty routine lately. I was so excited to try it out as I don't usually have experience with 'baking' to set my face. It retails for $34 CAD, contains 28g of product and claims wear of up to 16 hours. This setting powder works so well over the Liquid Camo Foundation, it's like they were made for each other. My skin feels baby smooth after applying this over top of any foundation/concealer, and it helps my makeup last longer BUT not close to 16 hours long.

But honestly, I wouldn't expect it to be some miracle powder to make my foundation last that long, it does well enough by extending the wear of my foundation before the oil ends up seeping through near the end of the day.

I'm confused, am I doing it right?

I like to apply the powder under my eyes and on my t-zone with a mini beauty sponge (the one pictured above is Sephora brand). Then I wipe the excess off with a powder brush.

The Dermablend Professional Long Wear Makeup Remover comes in a tube with 150ml of product, and has the best retail price in this post so far, at $23 CAD. This makeup remover is amazing for removing Dermablend foundations, or any other hard-to-remove face products. It's kinda messy, you apply it like a wet cream all over the face and rub it in to loosen the foundation. Next remove it with a cotton pad (or a few), and I'll then wet my face and go over it again with a final cotton pad. It works better than a micelle solution and isn't as messy as an oil.

Overall I am a big fan of the brand after trying these products. I do not think the price point is too high, and I do want to buy more from them and perhaps repurchase these once I've used them up! I'd actually like to try the Liquid Camo in 25N (a shade lighter) so it's more wearable for my pale winter months.

Sudio Vasa Bla: Rose Gold Wireless Earphones Review

I have something different today, something non-beauty related but it might just catch your eye and instantly become added to that birthday wishlist! Sudio Sweden recently reached out to me for feedback on their new VASA BLÅ Wireless Earphones. What caught my eye wasn't even their bluetooth wireless capabilities, it was how cute and fashionable they are (damn, am I materialistic?)

To keep up with new technology, Sudio has created their version of this new revolutionary product, the wireless bluetooth earphones! I am definitely no super audiophile, but I do like a good quality sound system; whether it be earbuds, headphones, stereo, etc.

The Sudio Vasa Bla comes in a slim box, that opens to reveal a very 'Apple' product-like packaging. It's minimal, as it should be. I've laid out all of the box contents above, minus the instructions sheet and owners manual.

Unfortunately, these did not come with a wall plug, likely because of the fact that they ship all over the world and everywhere uses a different outlet. But considering the price, I was a little disappointed it was missing this. The leather case is a good trade-off for the missing wall plug however, it fits the Vasa Bla perfectly and is thick enough that it feels like they're going to be protected in my purse.

Sudio Sweden officially offers the Vasa Bla in four gorgeous and fashionable fun colours. Rose Gold Black, Rose Gold White (mine), Blue, and Pink. They do offer other products in various colours like their wired earphones and wireless headphones, but their main focus colour seems to be gold rather than the typical silver, which I think, makes them seem fashion forward.

The controls are on one side, with the battery pack on the other. They look the same so it can be easy to mix them up, but the controls tab is slightly slimmer.

The indicator will flash red to pair, and will continue to flash blue to indicate that it is on. The middle control can be used to answer or end a call, pause or play a song, and turn the device on and off. The volume controls are used to control the volume of the earbuds, which (btw) is separate from your phone's volume. The volume controls also can be held for 2 seconds to change songs.

When I first opened these I was a little nervous. Seeing as they are a company I am not familiar with, I wasn't sure how they would perform. The initial reaction I had was 'wow they sound great! But there isn't enough bass?'. I was a little disappointed, but I realized that changing the earbuds really helped them fit properly, so I could hear all of the tones much better. Even my boyfriend, who is a little more tech savvy than me said that they sound amazing and he would steal them from me if I didn't choose the most girly colour (heh!). I do still wish it had a bit more bass, but it does have good sound and a good range of highs and lows.

The unit itself is light, I haven't used other wireless earphones before so I don't have a good comparison. When they're in your ears, compared to regular earphones they are a bit heavy, but I found that letting the cord rest on the back of your neck really helps and makes them feel almost weightless.

The earbuds are interchangeable, with various sizes included, but they were a pain in the a%* to change. I will definitely update on the battery life. I have not noticed exactly how long it lasts, but it

Overall the quality is good, and I brought these on a trip with me to New Jersey with no issues. They are so handy and just cool to have. Also a huge plus...wait for it: NO untangling cords!!!! The cord is so short and shaped that it never tangles.

Now for the price.. they're a little pricey at $140 CAD each. I know I'd have to think this one over if I had to purchase it myself, the sound isn't amazing and the price is a little high. But I think this is a great gift especially for someone who is into the 'fashionable' side of technology. Sudio offers free express shipping for all orders so the fact that they are located in Sweden really is not an issue. The Vasa Bla are so beautiful and I'll continue taking them with me whenever I have a long bus or train ride for sure.

Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayons (Review + Swatches)

Bite Beauty is a brand I've always had my eye on, yet haven't talked about. I've been contemplating buying an Amuse Bouche Lipstck for the longest time, but hadn't yet gone for it. Fortunately, I was chosen to review these 3 Matte Creme Lip Crayons through an Influenster campaign. The campaign doesn't require you write about it, but I like these lippies so much I want to share them!

The Bite Matte Creme Lip Crayons come in a variety of shades (roughly 19 permanent shades) and retail for $28 CAD. The application tip is skinny and there is about 0.05 oz of product in each, (aka not enough!) but the product quality itself makes up for it..

The texture itself is a little thick, it won't feel like you're not wearing lipstick, but it won't feel super heavy either. It isn't sticky so your hair won't cling to it. It goes on smooth and looks good even on the driest of lips.

It does not dry out my lips and feels quite moisturizing actually. So far it's my favourite alternative to a liquid lipstick. It gives me the same awesome pigmentation but is moisturizing, whereas liquid lipsticks are quite drying on me. In exchange for the moisturizing qualities, you give up the long-lasting staying power and little-zero transfer of a liquid lipstick. I mean, they are long wearing for what they are, but these will transfer a bit and will not last the entire day. I usually carry one around with me anyways and apply after eating a meal.

The major downside of these matte crayons is that they seem to run out quickly. I've been using Cava quite often and I notice having to twist it up to reveal new product more often than I'd like.

Their special ingredients includes orange peel wax, as well as antioxidant; resveratrol. Bite Beauty products do not contain parabens, sulfates, or phthalates.

Ps!! After playing around I noticed that the bottom of the tube actually contains a plastic sharpener! Personally I do no need to use it because the tip itself is already skinny enough, but it was a cool noteworthy discovery..

I love the matte formulation of these and I always find myself wearing Cava. It is the most gorgeous mauve shade and compares to one of my favourite liquid lipsticks; the Stila Baci. Not sure if I would purchase one in the future, I usually stick to nude/mauve shades so I'll have to see if I want to dish out $28 for a replacement of Cava when I run out.

Pixi Facial Mists: Glow Mist & Makeup Fixing Mist

Pixi Beauty is a brand that I've adored for a while, it made a quick appearance in Canada when Target was introduced here, but was just as quickly taken away from us when the Target's were all shut down. Fortunately, and finally, Pixi has been re-introduced to us Canadians and is available at select Shoppers Drug Marts. There is word that the displays are popping up in greater Toronto area Shoppers Drug Mart locations (wohoo!). I do have some products that I'm excited to share with you, and seeing it readily available in Canada makes me so happy!

I know I've talked about them before, but for a refresher, Pixi Beauty was created by Petra Strand, experienced makeup artist and product developer. The brand originates from London and focuses on pure skin-loving products infused with botanicals and good ingredients.

Pixi officially has a product list of 5 different mists in their collection. I have 2 of them here to share with you!

The mists consist of 80ml of product and retail for $15 USD (I am not positive of the Canadian price at the moment) but they seem to be affordably drugstore priced. Both of the mists can be used either in the AM or PM, it's to your liking!

The Glow Mist is infused with Propolis & Argan Oil and is designed for a radiant glowy effect. It is enriched with 13 other natural oils. It claims to be able to set makeup, add a dewy finish, and refresh makeup. The bottle says it can be used before makeup, after makeup, or throughout the day. After testing it out, I do see the hydrating and luminous effects and it works great for dry winter months. I don't see it prolonging my makeup wear because it is enriched with so many good oils. So I prefer to use this on light makeup days where I don't have to worry about my makeup lasting or not.

The Makeup Fixing Mist has become a holy grail for me! It is infused with Rose Water & Green Tea and designed to set, extend or refresh makeup while protecting and balancing the skin. It has a light rose scent which isn't overpowering at all. The bottle also says it can be used before and after makeup, or throughout the day. I love to use this before makeup instead of a primer. It's obviously not super hardcore primer replacement, but it is so easy to just mist over the face and apply makeup. It is such a plus that there are so many beneficial ingredients! I think that's the main reason why this has become my holy grail: I don't feel bad about misting it all over my face. It holds my makeup throughout the day as far as I can tell, and I think it is perfect as an everyday essential.

Overall, pretty impressed with the Pixi Facial Mists I got to try out. I would 100% purchase the Makeup Fixing Mist when I finish this one, not sure about the Glow Mist but I will be continuing to use them both!

Beauty Favourites of 2016

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday, I had quite a relaxing one, and I'm so excited for what 2017 will bring. My life went through so many changes in the past year, from moving to new relationships, new friendships, and finding out a lot about myself and others. I mean, every year I find more and more out about myself but this year had pretty big changes for me.

I didn't blog as often as I wanted to, my summer was spent hanging out outside, and keeping busy with new friends, I was barely indoors (and didn't even get much of a tan...). To be honest, as cheesy as it sounds I spent a lot of time doing car things with my car friends (because yes, I like cars too!). I do want to keep A Lovely Allure alive, and continue sharing my completely honest reviews on products I've tried!

I am by no means popping out an article a day, but I am trying for (at least) once a week. I am also trying to keep them as short and sweet as possible, because face it, no one wants to read unnecessarily long reviews anymore (I do sometimes get carried away though... sorry!)

2016 Beauty Favourites

And I know it's a bit of a late post, (I planned to have this up before 2017!) but I didn't want to miss out on sharing my favourite beauty products of 2016.

Clarisonic Mia 2:
I have had the Mia 2 for a while, but I've never expressed how much I really like it! It is the best way to exfoliate dead or flaky skin, because it actually works and you don't have to sit there scrubbing for minutes. There are various brush heads for those with different skin types, and I can exfoliate the dry spots on my face so quickly!

Sephora The Perfectionist Airbrush Sponge:
What a perfect dupe for the Beauty Blender! My all-time favourite sponge, has just met it's competition with this dupe from Sephora. The sponge expands to the same size as my Beauty Blender, and works just as well. See my full review here.

Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Cava:
I have been using this lip crayon in the shade Cava (worn here) on a daily basis and am afraid it's going to run out soon! The Bite lip crayons are not long lasting if you're about to eat but they last a great amount of time if you don't! They feel so soft and don't dry out my lips. Cava is the perfect mauve shade that I long for in a lipstick! (If you know me, light mauves are my thinggg).

Nyx Micro Brow Pencil:
I finally found a dupe for the highly coveted, Anastasia Brow Wiz (review)! I use this Nyx Micro Brow Pencil before my Anastasia Dipbrow (review) to outline the shape. It is pretty foolproof because it can be wiped off if a mistake is made. I do go over it and fill in my brows with the Dipbrow because this Nyx pencil does not last nearly as long, but it works so well for outlining!

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Oil-Free Perfecting Creme:
I discovered Ole Henriksen in 2016, and I actually had the pleasure of meeting the founder himself! His products are great and so easy to find something to combat specific skin issues. The Sheer Transformation Cream is my favourite, I've been using it daily! It goes under makeup so well, doesn't feel heavy on the skin but moisturizes well. I don't use it when it's super cold outside but mild to hot weather it is perfect.

Formula X MakeupByRose Nail Polish:
I don't know which one I have pictured here, but I fell in love with Formula X's Limited Edition MakeupByRose Collection (swatches here)! Specifically the Mahhvelous Rose (a rosy mauve), and Puffin! (a rich mink grey). I could literally wear these shades on my nails for the rest of the year.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer:
I wasn't sure this was enough coverage for me at first, but it is so hydrating and so easy to apply that it doesn't really matter to me anymore. The coverage is highest when using a sponge applicator, it doesn't crease too much (and I have dry under eyes). I just finished my tube and I will definitely purchase a new one (review here). I wear shade Y23 for reference.

Bliss The Youth As We Know It Eye Cream:
I got this eye cream for half price, and I know it isn't a miracle worker but for the price it is great! I try to do as much as I can to protect my eye area. Only time will tell, but hopefully this will help hold off my aging/dark circles/bags for a little longer!

Body Shop Pinita Colada Body Butter:
This scent, I believe, was introduced in 2016 when the Body Shop's Body Butter packaging was revamped to use plastic made from pollution. The body butter smells delicious, of coconut and a pineapple mix, and is light and absorbs so quickly!

Paula's Choice Hydralight Shine-Free Daily Mineral Complex SPF 30:
I had the opportunity to work with Paula's Choice in 2016 and absolutely loved their skincare products! I soooooo wish they were readily available here in Canada. Although I did love all of the products I got to try, the Hydralight Moisturizer quickly ended up in my morning routine. It is light, smells a bit like crayons but doesn't bother me, but the main perk is that it contains SPF30 and is great to wear under my foundation (review here).

Live Clean Multi Boost Shampoo/Conditioner:
Live Clean's shampoos are really all I use now! They are sulfate free, but also free of many chemicals, parabens, silicones, never tested on animals, and 98% plant derived. The main reason I've stuck to this brand is because it is sulfate free, my hair has felt so much healthier and my scalp isn't as itchy since switching to this brand (review here)!

Kat Von D Everlasting Mini Liquid Lipstick Set {+ Swatches}

It still isn't too late for that last minute Christmas shopping! Shopping for a girl who is into makeup is probably the easiest thing you've had to do all December. The liquid lipstick shades in this set are so different! Also, my apologies for not being able to properly follow the lines of my lips, btw! If you are looking for neutrals this is not the place to find it. The most neutral shades are the first two, Lovesick (a mauve nude) and Mother (a dusty mauve pink), and Mother is even a little too pinky for my liking. My favourite shades have to be Lovesick, and Plath (deep russet red/brown). Echo (satin navy blue) had to be the hardest and most uneven to apply because it is such a strong colour.

In terms of the formula, the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick is one of my favourite liquid lipsticks because of the high range of colours and the way they feel on the lips. They are light, not super drying (but still drying on my lips), and are true matte liquid lipsticks. For more vibrant shades, they do need at least 2 layers, but the staying power is great and there is little to no transfer.

The set retails for $62 CAD, and if you're lucky you can still pick one up at a Sephora location or on Kat Von D's website!

Marc Jacobs Object of Desire Face & Eye Palette is a limited edition palette for the holidays. It comes in a gorgeous gold clutch-like casing with a black tassel zipper! The packaging is so gorgeous I didn't even want to use it at first! I'm so glad I did, as this is the first time I've tried makeup by Marc Jacobs and I am so surprised at the quality and pigmentation..

The palette comes with a large Perfect Tan Bronzer (Tantric), blush (Exhibitionist), and luminizer (Make a Sheen) for the face. The rest of the 6 shades to the right are eyeshadow shades. They might look a little colourful but I found them to be very neutral.. definitely colours I could wear on a regular basis.

The packaging itself is gorgeous, again, but the zippered clutch itself is pretty bulky and a little bit of a burden to fit in a makeup bag (meaning, -> it doesn't fit in a regular makeup bag.. but it will fit in a large overnight makeup case, if that makes things better). I think the only real solution if you don't like the packaging is to depot each pan. I've never really done it but I'm sure I would do it eventually when I get tired of lugging this around!

The palette is super pigmented, I wasn't disappointed with any shade! The blush is probably the only shade I won't be using often because I just don't typically wear blush. I surprisingly was able to create an eyeshadow look using basically all of the shadows (see below)! I'm not usually able to do that but the colours worked together so well in this palette.

I incorporated just about every shadow in the palette (on the eyes for this look! Violet Hour all over the lid, Twilight in the crease, In The Dark in the corner of the crease only, and to add some shimmer Candelight on the inner part of my lids. I used Dimmer to help blend out Violet Hour and add some definition.

Overall I am so happy using this palette! The eyeshadows are so easy to work with, very blendable, and the face products quite impressed me too! This is such an amazing gift and I would totally be satisfied with this for Christmas! The downside is that Marc Jacobs makeup is a little pricey, so this palette is going for $86 CAD right now at Sephora stores and online.
